Win 7 Won't Print To Usb Printer On Xp Machine

I have a small home network here with my xp (home edtn) machine sharing web & print and have a wd external usb drive for shared file storage for the family. Ll seems to work ok - all other machines in the house connected via ethernet. Recently two of my daughters pensioned off their old xp desktops in favour of laptops - 1  is a vista home premium build, and the other is a win7 pro build. Ll shared services work for all machines except, the hp colour printer which is connected to my xp home box via usb.

I have another hp 1200 black laser on my machine connected via parallel and all users can see and print to it. When i try to do an install on either of the girls laptops (vista & win7) it seems to do the install but nothing prints to the usb hp colour. It has me mystified. Have tried suggestions on some forums about doing a 'local' printer install on the remote machines and then resetting the ports later etc etc but nothing will get ink on paper from these two laptops to the hp 970cxi colour. It works fine for the xp machines in the house.

Shared Usb Printer Won't Print Until Pc Restart

I have an hp color laserjet 1600 printer hooked up to my windows 7 x64 system via usb. Printing from the local machine is just fine.

However, when i add the shared printer to another machine in my homegroup and print to it, the job shows up in the print queue (visible from both the originating system as well as the machine to which the printer is hooked up) but nothing prints. Attempting to delete the print job just changes the status to "deleting" but the job is never removed from the queue. When the system (to which the printer is hooked up) is restarted, the job prints (even if a delete was attempted).

Specifics:
Machine 1: windows 7 x64 with usb laserjet 1600 (with both x64 and x86 drivers available).
Directly connected to linksys router.

Machine 2: windows 7 x86 with laserjet 1600 x86 drivers installed.
Wireless connection to linksys router.

None of this behavior was observed when we were using vista x64 and x86 on the two machines.

Printer Problem - Print Job In Print Queue Is Preventing Other Print Jobs

Cannot print from new laptop to shared printer - "a print job in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing". I recently bought a new laptop and want to print to a printer (hp color laserjet 1600) i have shared over the network from a windows 7 (x64) machine. When i try to print from my laptop it stays in the print queue and i have to run the troubleshooter on the host computer to resolve the issue and allow it to print.

If i run the troubleshooter on the laptop it tells me it could not identify the problem while on the host it tells me "a print job in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing" and it says it fixed the problem and prints the document but i have to do this every time. I also have this printer added to a laptop and a netbook and they both print the document just fine and have no issues. The laptop i am having the problems is running windows 7 (x64).

Shared Usb Printer Won't Print Until System Restart

I have a lexmark all-in-one x1270 printer hooked up to my windows 7 x64 system via usb. Printing from the local machine is just fine. However, when i add the shared printer to another machine in my homegroup and print from it, the job shows up in the print queue (visible from both the originating system as well as the machine to which the printer is hooked up) but nothing prints.

Attempting to delete the print job just changes the status to "deleting" but the job is never removed from the queue. When the system (to which the printer is hooked up) is restarted, the job prints (even if a delete was attempted). I have been in contact with lexmark support group for a few weeks now (via: e-mail), they seem to be be stumped too.

Machine 2: windows 7 x64 with  lexmark all-in-one x1270 printer drivers installed.

Document Hangs In Printer Queue From Remote Machine

I have a homegroup with 2 computers running windows 7 x64. On the primary i have an hp color laser 1600 connected via usb. I can share files fine. Printer show up fine. The network is working fine. I print a document from the secondary computer and it shows up in the printer queue on the primary computer and says its printing but its not printing. I can't pause, resume or cancel the job. If i then print a document from the primary computer it goes into the queue but it can't print because the first job (from the secondary machine) hasn't finished printing.

When i reboot the primary matching both jobs print before i log on to windows. The file is getting sent to the primary but won't print until i reboot. All sharing is turned on. I've checked all the settings listed in other posts and nothing helps. I can print from the primary machine with no problem as long as there isn't a job in the queue from the secondary machine.

Hp Inkjet 2230 Printer - Print Jobs Stuck In Print Queue

Print jobs stuck in the print queue and will not print on windows 7 64-bit driver for hp business inkjet 2230 printer. I have installed the current hp universal printing pcl 5 driver on my windows 7 64-bit os. When i try to print a test page on my hp business inkjet 2230 printer (usb to parallel cable connection) the job hangs in the print queue. I can run the troubleshooter and purge the spooler but then i'm back where i started. The next print command will result in the same error.

This appears to have also been a problem with windows vista (64-bit). Suggestions to remedy the problem are welcomed.

Cannot Print To Hp 6500n Printer

I just installed windows 7 upgrade over vista, and cannot print to my hp 6500n printer. Any clues? I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall drivers, but it still doesn't work, though it appears as one of my devices. I am having problems printing in all programs. I had already attempted to use: go to hp printer support and download this driver for window 7 32 bit.

File name:userhpndu-2017.exe, (1/1, 1. 2m)
Version 2. 0. 0. 17
Date 2009-10-20

When i do that, i get "this system does not meet one or more of the minimum requirements needed to install this product. The installation can't continue". So, nothing happens. Interestingly, the printer is in control panel, even though i have uninstalled and rebooted. During the last attempt, i connected the printer using the usb and windows appeared to attempt to grab a driver, but again, it does not work now wirelessly, and it did using vista.

Cannot Print To Remote Printer

I had vista home premium on my laptop from which i could print on an old lexmark z11 attached to another laptop running xp. Recently i upgraded to windows 7 and now i cannot print this way. Although the 7 machine can see the printer, it says it is 'ready' and i see stuff in its print queue on my machine, after a while these items disappear without appearing on the xp machine's queue. The printer shows no activity whatsoever. I have removed the printer from my machine and reinstalled it. Still no joy. The xp machine has extra drivers loaded for "2000 and xp".

After Reboot Printer Will Not Print

I am with the guy about the troubleshooter not working half the time. I have a lexmark z715 printer. Installed windows 7 on a new partition on a new hard-drive fresh and it detected the printer and downloaded a driver that worked and all was fine. 2 days later i shut down the computer and didn't use it for a day.

Come back online and print spooler quit working. Ok looked in diagnostics and it says is running and on automatic. Did a complete unistall of the lexmark software and that hung for 4 hours till i shut it down. So manually i went in and deleted anything associated with lexmark registry included.

Next day i thought i would give it another try so i restart computer and do a search and it finds the printer and installs a lexmark z700-900 p700-900 driver and software from the windows update sight. Printer shows up and test page prints just like it should. I do a test and print off a microsoft word file and all is good. Reboot. Now i can see the printer. Can adjust the printer properties. Yet everything i send to the printer flashes in the print queqe for a sec and deletes saying it was printed. The size of these files are 8 bytes.

I am on a dual boot system
I have windows xp installed on a c drive.
I have a backupdrive d.
I have a backup partition on c called h.
I have a tetrabyte hard drive called g where windows 7 is installed.
I have a q9650 processor with 4 gig s of ram
I have a 9800gtx+ 1 gig video card.

I can print in xp fine the printer is hooked to the usb and it turns on and prints well.
In windows 7 and in windows xp when i shut the computer down the printer shuts off also.

I have installed the windows xp driver which actually worked also till reboot. I have installed the windows vista driver that is recommended from the updater and it would not even see the printer. I after cleaning out the registry again get windows update to find that driver and it worked until reboot and at least i can still communicate with the printer.

But still cannot print. Also want to add that ive spent a good 8 hours on this researching and this seems to be an issue with alot of people. Especially with windows 7 recognizing supposedly compatible devices. Seems someone was over optimistic or manufacturers deceived in placing their equipment on the list.

Oh also i have microsoft office installed and microsoft outlook which printed fine also before reboot. I am currently looking through the forums for any other things to do. I am figuring that probably going to have to upgrade my printer due to fact that it would only cost me 50 bucks more than ink for this one. But i should not have to if its on compatible list.

Cannot Update Usb Print Driver Without Error

I am trying to get an hp 4100 laserjet printer to work on my new windows 7 ultimate 64 bit laptop. When i plug in the printer through a usb adapter cable, windows 7 finds and loads a compatible driver hp4100 pcl6. The printer works most of the time, but i get errors when i try to print many images. According to the hp forums, the pcl6 driver has issues just like this, and they suggest using either a pcl5 or ps driver instead. I explored using add printer and found that there is a windows 7 64 compatible driver hp4100 ps available if i select to use windows update to find all the latest printer drivers.

Since i could not find any way to get windows 7 to let me select the driver (it always installs hp4100 pcl6 without asking or letting me intervene), i tried going to printer properties > advanced on the printer screen. I selected new driver, chose the hp4100 ps driver from the list, and it seemed to install it. However, as soon as i went back to printer properties, i got an error that the hp4100 ps driver is not installed and asking if i want to install it.

When i look under print server properties, the hp4100 ps driver is listed. It also appears on the printer properties > advanced screen for the driver. However, every time i select printer properties i get the error that the hp4100 ps driver is not installed. It seems to be a problem of the error message, not the driver.

The other strange thing is, if i select properties for the printer, and look at at hardware, it shows hp4100 pcl6 (the one i removed) along with usb printer services. What can i do to get windows to recognize this new driver? Or, alternately, if i delete the printer, what can i do to keep windows from reinstalling the default hp4100 pcl6 automatically when i next plug in the printer and let me select the driver i want. I could find no way to override the install.

Can't Print To Network Printer

I just upgraded my desktop and laptop to windows 7 a week ago. When using vista i was able to print over the network to my hp photosmart c5280 printer. Now, when i attempt to print from my wirelessly connected laptop it appears that it was sent to the printer fine, but nothing ever prints. My desktop is hardwired(usb) to the printer and i can print fine from it. My desktop is ethernet connected to my router and my laptop is wirelessly connected to the network through the router as well. I tried multiple times to connect both systems to a home group and everything appeared fine.

At times however i could only see one system or the other though both were still connected to the home group. I have already installed the windows 7 drivers and software from hp on the desktop and the drivers on the laptop. I can see the printer from my laptop as being shared, however when i print nothing ever actually prints on the printer. I removed both computers from home group and just set up the folders and printer to be shared like in vista however i am still getting the same problem. I ran the troubleshooters on both systems for the printer and network and homegroup and found no problems.
