Printer Sharing - 64-bit Win 7 And 32-bit Xp In Remote Desktop Session

Printer sharing - 64 bit windows 7 and 32 bit windows xp in a remote desktop session. Windows 7 machine with a local ricoh / aficio 1045 b & w multifunction printer attached. Works fine, uses 64 bit printer driver. This computer connects to a windows xp machine (32 bit) using remote desktop session (terminal services).

On the xp machine, i installed the 64 bit printer driver via printers and faxes -> server properties - drivers - add driver. I can see the driver there, successfully installed (have rebooted, etc). Despite this, the printer will still not show up when rd session is run. In event viewer, i can see there's an issue with it finding the correct driver.

I've used the terminal server printer redirection tool in the past to solve these problems (tspdrw.exe) which works great. The correct 64 bit driver is not listed as a choice when scrolling through options to reassign the driver. Hopefully that is clear, not sure what i am missing.

Error Printer Sharing - Xp 32-bit To Win7 32-bit

I've recently installed windows 7 (32 bit) and i tried sharing my printer (which is connected to my windows xp 32 bit pc). Previously, i successfully did printer sharing on my vista (32 bit) system before it got upgraded to windows 7. However, when attempting to share the printer, i get the 0x0000000d error.

My printer: canon ip4680 pixma

What steps i did
On xp computer
- Right clicked on printer, clicked on "share" and gave it a name
- "Additional drivers" section has windows xp checked. I don't see a row for vista or win 7

On win 7 computer
- Clicked on "add printer"
- Saw and found my shared printer on my xp computer
- Double clicked to add printer
- Passed the "finding drivers" stage
- Reached the "finalizing installation" stage
- After about 10 seconds, the error message pops up

I have already reinstalled my win 7 driver and updated my xp driver to the latest version (v2. 20) [which can be found at http://support-sg. Canon-asia.com/contents/sg/en/0100138101.html]. I also tried the solution at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/947236 but to no avail.

Printer Sharing Among 32-bit And 64-bit Systems

I have upgraded to windows 7 32bit. When i installed vista, i first tried the 64bit version, but found i could not share my connected printer across the network with a 32bit system. I could not install 32 bit drivers on my 64 bit system to enable other work group members to use my printer, and of course, could not install 64 bit drivers on a 32 bit system. Now that i have upgraded to windows 7, will i face a similar issue if i install the 64 bit version?

Ati Graphics Warning After Remote Desktop Session

From time to time, i am getting the following wanning message: "the catalyst control center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphic card . Please update your ati graphics driver, or enable your ati adapter using display manager" few things to note:i believe i am getting those messages only after doing remote desktop session of the pc although cannot say that with 100% level of confidence. Am fairly sure those problems started after installing the new sync beta and enable remote desktop of sync. I think it installed some new drivers. Ideas?

Logged In Users / Remote Desktop Connection Session

I have two computers with windows 7 ultimate x64 edition and am wanting to be able to log in to my account from each computer on each computer when i'm at the other computer. The problem i'm having is that when i try to connect to my computer at my grandparents from my computer at home, and my grandfather is using it, remote desktop connection displays a message that a user is already logged on and that he will be disconnected if i connect. I need to be able to use remote desktop even if users are already logged in without logging them out. Is this possible?

I mean if you can "switch users" and have more than one user logged in locally, why can't or how do i do the same remotely? I search around and found hacks about multiple concurrent remote desktop sessions but i need the same to apply to locally logged in users as well. If this is a limitation of windows7 i seriously wonder why i always spend the extra money for the ultimate edition if it still has all these home edition limitations and crippled features.

Cannot Connect To 32-bit Shared Printer From Win 7 64-bit

I'm running win2003 server (32-bit) and sharing a lexmark printer. I can't connect my 64-bit win7 pro client to the printer. I know the share is ok and my rights are fine because i can print from winxp clients using the same login. How the heck can i get this to work other than by connecting the printer directly to the win7 client and thus leaving my winxp clients out of luck?

Printer On Win 7 64-bit, Need To Access From Vista 32-bit

Printer on windows 7 64bit, need to access from windows vista 32 bit, wireless laptop over home network. I have a home network set up with a wireless router, 2 pcs hard-wired to the router, and a laptop connected via wireless connection to the router. The windows 7 pc has a lexmark 2690 printer connected to it via usb port, and the printer is shared to the network. The wireless laptop uses windows vista 32 bit, and the other wired pc is xp (32 bit) sp2.

I can connect the xp machine to the shared printer via setting up a "local port" using the host computer name and shared printer name in the port setup just fine. But, when i set up a "local port" connection on the vista laptop (wireless), any attempts to print result in an "access denied" error. If i try to access the printer via a "network printer" connection on the laptop, it does not allow the connection to be made at all.

Are there any suggestions on how to make a 32 bit vista wireless laptop connect to a shared printer on a windows 7 pc on the same home network?

Printing From 32-bit Xp To Printer Attached To 64-bit Win 7

We have upgraded our main network resource to a 64 bit machine running windows 7. When older 32 bit boxes running xp pro try to send print jobs to the central printer the xp box asks for an inf file. We have reloaded the canon drivers for the xp 32 bit box with no luck as it states it is still missing the driver. Tried to load 64 bit printer driver and the xp box rejected as 64 bit. The windows 7 box will print to the canon printer.

Win 7 64-bit Doesn't Distinguish Between Ie8 64-bit And Ie8 32-bit

Windows 7 64bit doesn't distinguish between ie8 64 bit and ie8 32 bit when attempting to set a default browser using the control panel default programs 'associate' utility. My new windows 7 64 bit pc (luv that i7 920 intel cpu) came installed with both ie8-64 bit and ie8-32 bit (nothing more need be said regarding the absurdity of having to deal with this in the first place - i should have gone with the imac).

Anyway, ie64 bit lacks the flash player cuz adobe hasn't released a 64 bit version yet, per their website. So i can't use ie64 with xm online music stream (et al). Ie32, on the other hand, supports flash player, but won't successfully link to various embedded hypertext links, such as those embedded in an email. My initial solution was to use firefox, which served me well until an application from a local vendor will only work with internet explorer. Sigh.

I've used windows since version 2 back in the 1980s, have become stoic, and can emotionally cope with having to use 3 browsers to get the job done.

However, just for fun, my current burning question is, with two different versions of ie8 (64 bit and 32 bit) installed into windows 7, why doesn't the control panel default applications utility seem to aware of the fact that there are indeed two different versions installed? It lists firefox and internet explorer, but does not differentiate between the two flavors of ie. My goal was to set ie8 64 bit as the default browser temporarily to accommodate the vendor's application.

Fyi, by setting the default, i refer to: control panel | default programs | associate a file type or protocol with a program. Then scroll down to 'http' and click on the change program button. So in my case, firefox and only one instance of internet explorer, with no bit distinction, display as selection options.

64-bit Wireless Desktop 8000 Bluetooth Problem

I am trying to get my bluetooth hardware working with windows 7, 64bit. I use a microsoft wireless entertainment desktop 8000. When i connect the charging station to the pc (via usb) and plug the bluetooth stick into the charging station, mouse and keyboard work fine. The problem is that i cannot connect any other hardware via bluetooth. The device manager does not show me any bluetooth stick, since it was installed as a "generic usb hub" by windows 7. I do not have any drivers for it.

What can i do to make the bluetooth stick work with windows 7? It seems to work on the one hand, since mouse and keyboard work fine, but on the other hand i cannot connect anything else and it is not shown in the device manager.

Win 7 64-bit Cannot Connect To Printer On Win Xp 32-bit

I have a windows 7 professional 64 bit pc that is trying to use a hp deskjet 3745 printer connected to a winxp home 32 bit pc. Both computers are connected through a linksys router and can see each other and share files and media just fine. I have tried searching for a shared printer but my win 7 pc can't find a driver for it even through windows update.

I have tried adding a network printer, but not only does the printer show as a hp deskjet 3470 instead of a 3745, but when i try to connect to it my machine checks windows update for a driver and cannot find one. I have tried adding a local port with the winxpnameprinter name but i get an error message "the network name cannot be found. "I should say that everything was working a week ago, but i can't think of what changed.

Xp Mode Is 64-bit Or 32-bit In Win 7 64-bit

I am planning on purchasing win 7 pro & installing the 64-bit version. I intend to make use of the "xp mode" feature if i can install 32-bit printer drivers within the xp mode, as my photo printers have no 64-bit drivers. I currently edit my photography on a win xp pro 64-bit pc, which is networked to a win xp pro 32-bitpc in order to print images. I need to know if "xp mode" is 32-bit - even when installed with the 64-bit version of win 7 pro. I want to be able to convert/edit my photos in win 7 64-bit, then print these images using "xp mode" via the 32-bit driversi intend to installin xp mode- all from the same pc. Is this do-able?

Ati Radeon Sapphire 5770 - Win 7 64-bit Asks For 32-bit Drivers

I have windows 7 64 bit. I recently changed my video card for an ati radeon sapphire 5770. I had an nvidia before that stopped working. I installed the lastest drivers from ati for win7 64 bit (version 10. 5) after uninstalling those from nvidia. Everything seems to be working fine, but windows keep telling me that there's no drivers installed for my card, even tho i can access the catalyst control center. When i click on the link that windows provide, it always lead to the 32 bit version of win 7. Is it a known problem? Is there something i can do to correct that?

Multi-boot System Win 7 64-bit & Vista 32-bit On One Hard Drive

Multi-boot system windows 7 (64-bit) & vista (32-bit) on one hard drive - do i need two hard drives?I have an existing windows vista ultimate (32-bit) system installed on a 500gb sata hard drive, partitioned into 2 partitions (c: and d:). I would like to make the system multi-boot so that i can back-track to vista if i have a problem with win7.

One issue here is that i plan on multi-booting vista 32-bit and win7 64-bit on the same hard drive without touching the d: partition of the hard drive. I don't know if this is possible, but i'm interested to see if it is.

I've done some research and have found that win7 has many compatibility modes, so maybe i don't need to worry about keeping an installation of vista on my system? I just don't want to be "caught with my pants down" if something were to go wrong with win7, like if one of my programs was incompatible or something along those lines.

If i can't multi-boot vista 32-bit and win7 64-bit from the same hard drive, can i do it with 2 hard drives having one os on each hard drive? Or, am i being much too paranoid about this and should i trust microsoft on this one that win7 will not have any large compatibility issues with my most used programs?

For reference, here are some of my most used programs: firefox 3. 5, steam, adobe photoshop (versions 7. 0 and cs3), ie tester (for web development), winamp, trillian (an im and irc program), itunes, skype, mozilla thunderbird (for e-mail), and fraps (in-game video recording software).

I know that this is a lot all at once, but does anyone see any foreseen compatibility issues with any of these programs and win7 64-bit ? I'm also worried about the compatibility of some of my drivers with win7 64-bit, but i've heard that there have been leaps and bounds made with driver compatibility on win7 64-bit (as compared to the mess it was with xp 64-bit). Is this true?
