Dvd Maker Avi Files Corrupt

I have just found out about windows dvd maker and decided to give it a go. I tried to insert a file and found out it wouldn't allow me to select an mp4 so i decided to render each scene of my dvd into avi format instead of mp4 but as soon as i try and select them i get this error message:

"0 files were successfully added. 1 file could not be added. The file c:usersedwarddesktopuntitled. Avi is not a supported file type and cannot be imported. "

I installed a codec to try and get it to work but previous to this it came up with a similar error saying that the file might be corrupt.

What can i do as its really annoying me :( i have rendered the video as a wmv and it works but it annoys me because it isn't as good quality as the avi that i rendered.

No Preview Thumbnails For Avi Files

I'm using 64 bit windows 7. I'm creating some avi animations with the ultra fractal fractal exploration software. These avi files don't show thumbnail preview images in windows explorer, they just show a default image of a piece of film. It seems that if i edit my avi file into a wmv movie file using windows live movie maker, then i do see thumbnail images for the source avi files in windows explorer from then on. But i'd like to see the previews by default. Note that i do see preview thumbnails for most (but not all) files that are in the quicktime mov format. And i do see preview thumnails for all files in the mpg format. But not for the avi files.

Windows Dvd Maker Won't Recognize Dvd Burner

Dvd Maker Cannot Create The Dvd

I'm getting this like everyone else on a windows 7 64 bit. The dvd burner is turned on, working, etc. I have 251 gb of free space. The problem is that this error message is so worthless, i.e. No real specifics like "out of space" , "codec error", "invalid input file", "hey, i just don't like you"  . There is nothing to work with. The input is a home movie avi which plays just fine in windows media center. The "just die for no apparent reason" point seems to be 38% in windows media center and 17% in windows dvd maker and the blank disk is kicked out.

If nothing else microsoft ought to build a fix that at least dumps some useful error messages about the failed process so there's a direction to take. At least under dvd maker the status was "encoding" and it dies during that. Windows media center tells you nothing, but the vague error. Oh, yes i did try again after a fresh re-boot and am running nothing else. Same problem.

Code 39 - Corrupt Driver Dvd-ram

I recently was trying to get a camcorder to work with my new win 7 pc. The cam device allows a web cam configuration via usb but a video capture driver must be installed. This driver would not install on win 7. I tried installing the device in xp sp3 mode by using the compatibility option in the properties of the .exe file while the file was on the cd. This still gave the error.

The capture will not work. Now though my dvd drive will not work either. I tried disabling it, unistalling it and each time the driver installs the same way and gives the code 39 error. I also connected a usb dvd drive and it show the very same error. The dvd drives show a yellow triangle in device manager now and neither show in my computer. I have tried reboot with out the device then boot again with a drive (either) and it always has code 39. What can i do now?I have a ghost image but i would rather find a solution incase it happens again.

Dvd Maker

Win 7. I own this dvd. So i thought i would give this a try before looking elsewhere. "Regular" dvds have about a 4gb or so capacity and so i loaded up about 4 ripped vob files totaling 3. 5gb into the program and it told me it was over capacity. It seems that the program only recognizes 150 minutes. One vob file of only 1gb takes up about 120 minutes. It seems the program will not add files by size but rather by 150 minutes max.

Is this a known limitation of the program or did i do it wrong. Do i need to convert the vob files first in order to fit more on the dvd? Btw the vob files loaded up very nicely, played well and i was able to add transitions etc. But i need a program that will let me write back to disc the 4 + gb capacity of the disc. Tia.

Dvd Maker Screws Up

I have a brand new toshiba satellite that is preloaded with windows 7. I was so happy to learn that it had windows 7 dvd maker available. Once i started to load some photos for a slide show i went to preview the image slideshow. When the images began to transitions from one photo to the next and pan in and zoom out, some images would decided to kind of skip on the vertical edges. It was almost as though the images where to much for my computer to handle, but i have no other skips with any other dvd maker program, nor when i watch a movie.

What gives?
Any other people seeing this problem?

Previews Problem With Dvd Maker

I made a dvd with windows movie maker and modified it with the options. I did not burn correctly, in fact it made my video choppy and i lost some videos, meaning some of the videos i added did not come out. On the menu format i selected it shows displays of some of the videos i added to my dvd but does not play in the video itself. How can i get the videos that are on the feature menu. I chose the menu style call reflections. On the reflections boxes is where my videos are playing as a preview but not on the dvd i made. How can i get those previews out of there?

Copy Disc Using Dvd Maker

Ok. Every time i go to windows dvd maker and i try to copy a dvd i made i run into several probs. First, i  have to select "all the files" because nothing shows up under "media/video/picture files" in the d drive otherwise. After selecting everything from my dvd, some of the files still get rejected from being transferred anyway!. Then when i go to click "burn" and it says i need to put in a "blank disc" which i do. After it burns for a minute and gets to about 70% it says cannot burn anymore because of a "invalid pointer. " What is that? Can you not copy a disc using windows dvd maker? If so how?

Dvd Maker Encoding Error

I'm trying burn some files but the encoding always stops at 0. 6% before generating the following error.

[Window title]
Windows dvd maker
[Main instruction]
Cannot create the dvd
[Content]
An error occurred when burning the dvd.

[Ok]

A bit more background info:

- I'm running windows 7 pro
- I haven't got any other burning software (such as nero) installed
- There are 11 . Vob files to burn
- That's 106 of 150 minutes
- There aren't any effects or customized menu

Has anyone got any suggestions? Searching on the internet shows that there are people who are experiencing the same problems, but i'm not even sure what codecs are and how to check whether i have the right ones.

Audio Problem With Dvd Maker

After months of trouble free operation i suddenly find no audio on all dvds burned with windows dvd maker. Using windows media player i can view and hear the files ok directly from my hd. I can also play the files ok when i select preview as part of the windows dvd maker process. I do not have windows movie maker installed. I am running oem windows 7 home edition. I thought this may have coincided with the use of proshow gold so i uninstalled that program. I also uninstalled nero 9 but the problem persists.

Bug Report Dvd Maker

I have windows 7 home premium x64 with windows dvd maker file version: 6. 1. 7600. 16385 dated 07/13/2009 9:39 pm. When adding titles to be burned, dvd maker shows a time of 150 minutes on the dvd. It can not add mpg files correctly. A mpeg with 1:31 and another mpeg with 45 minutes and another mpeg 14 minutes shows 149 out of 150 minutes. This is incorrect since the blank dvd can only hold 120 minutes. Encoding starts and then there is an error. Nothing is written. I can create the dvd with 1:31 + 14 minutes dvd for 105 minutes.

Error Codes & Corrupt Files

I am having problems with installing updates and software onto my laptop: -

Windows update, i get error code 80200053, microsoft security essentials updates, i get error code 0x80240022 (this is a new install but haven't been able to run as unable to update with any definitions) windows live messenger and mail installation, i get error code hr:0x8007000d

I restored my laptop to factory default but the problem hasn't been fixed. I am still having the same problems but also, i am unable to download programs like java or avg (before i tried mse), i get messages either relating to corrupt files or unknown publishers/certificates. I have been having these problems for over a week now, in fact both my laptop and my partners desktop are having the same problems.

Having spent hours searching these forums, i found another user who appears to be having the same problems as me and followed the solution provided i.e. Disk cleanup; sfc.exe and then checkdisk but the problems haven't been resolved. The log file from the sfc.exe suggested that some corrupted files couldn't be repaired and i have looked at the results but to be honest i haven't got a clue what to do about this. The checkdisk result came back clean though.

We have managed to obtain a copy of avg from a cd and run a full scan on both the laptop and desktop and no virus' were detected. The only items listed were tracking cookies which have been deleted or repaired and 2 items on my laptop advising broken digital certificates.

Can you please help me with this, i don't know what else to do to fix this problem?

Dvd Maker Problem During The Burn Process

I have a sony dvd camcorder (mini disc)and sony vegas movie studio 6 software. Since getting a new laptop with windows 7 i've been having problems with vegas movie studio (i think it may not be fully compatible with windows 7). But it does manage to render my videos to a recognizable format (mpg) so i turned to windows dvd maker, which looks like a great and simple program to use initially. But like many messages on this forum i too had a problem during the burn process - mine only gets to approx. 4% and then comes up with an error message (but the error message displays no detail). What can i do? Is there an alternative? Can i burn a mini disc onto a dvd-r for example? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dvd Maker Aspect Ratio Problem

I am using the windows 7 dvd maker tool, and am experiencing some major issues. I have a widescreen formatted avi file i am trying to burn onto a dvd. When i import the video, it doesn't matter which aspect ratio i choose the finished dvd is the same. Menu shows video correctly, but the movie part is squeezed into a 4:3 with black bars on all four sides.

It seems to be that windows dvd maker does not recognize the aspect ratio of the avi file imported. Although the avi file loads in media player in the widescreen format, the file listing in dvd maker clearly shows in 4:3 aspect ratios for the same file, imay sure that windows 7 dvd maker is set up correctly on (16:9).

I have wasted several dvds attempting to use multiple configurations within dvd maker and none have been successful. The dvd always burns in 4:3 aspect ration regardless of the settings chosen under the options menu. This is definitely a bug in the program.

Unknown Dvd Maker Error Message

Here is a frustrating problem i am having with windows dvd maker that no one can seem to explain. I have a new computer, less than a month old, running windows 7. I have been trying to burn some home movie clips on to dvds for various friends and family. I completed 3 or 4 dvds successfully. All of a sudden, during the burning process, i get to a point about 0. 3 to 0. 4 percent encoded when i get an error message that the dvd cannot be made due to an unspecified error.

Every fresh, new, out of the package disk i try to use ends up with the same message. The clips haven't changed, the filters haven't changed, the settings haven't changed, i've just done a few successfully with no problem, now all of a sudden it can't burn any more discs. What happened? What do i need to do to fix it?

Live Movie Maker - No Sound On .mov Files

. Mov files:i can play . Avi and . Mov with sound outside wlmm (eg in windows media player)i can play . Avi with sound inside wlmm. When i play . Movs inside wlmm, there is no sound. I am running windows 7 home premium and wlmm build 14. 0. 8117. 416 (i don't know how you get a later version, as i uninstalled and re-downloaded, and it still gave me the 2009 version, even though the help page lists later builds)i have seen a thread about this back in january 2010, but without an answer.

My variation on that question is that i am clear that the . Mov file has sound when run in media player or quicktime, and no sound when run in wlmm. Btw, how do you get a version other than the build i have? I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and still i always get this version, and not the 2010 version.

Btw 2 - please don't suggest converting . Mov to another format - i do not want to go to that effort and expense - i have a kodak zi6, . Mov is the format, and i need to get that working.

Can i convert movie maker files to windows live movie maker? I just spent 1 week editing a video for my daughter's 2nd birthday coming up on sunday. I was running vista and using windows movie maker. My computer kept crashing when i went to publish the file so i thought i would try purchasing windows 7 to see if i could publish this 29 minute video. I even took out all the transitions and it doesn't have any music. Now, after spending all day installing windows 7, i find out movie maker isn't included and all my work is in a file i can't retrieve. If i purchase windows live movie maker, will it convert my . Mswmm file?

Right-click on downloaded mts (avchd) file on hard drive prompts to open with wl movie maker. Application launches and crashes-with small and large mts files.

This is a long-standing problem that has not been addressed. Why advertise that this program works with these hd formats if it only does so in your labs and not on real customer systems?

Jewelcase Maker In Nti Media Maker 8

I am having trouble with the jewelcase maker program in nti media maker 8. It tells me there is a problem and has to close; that it will notify me if a solution can be found. I insert a picture on the front of the cd cover just fine. I was only able to add the text for a few titles and guess what? Yep "there was a problem and it had to close" now i can't save additional text to the cover. It lets me type a few lines - maybe- but then when i go to save it tells me blah blah and then shuts down.

Also when i made a test print of what i did manage to save, i got one print and 5 blank pages. I chose to print only 1 copy and that's what the print window said before i hit print. Once it started to print the printer said 6 copies- with one being printed and 5 blank i'm running windows 7home premium on an acer aspire notebook that is less than 2 months old and this is the only problem i have. Can anyone help me with this please?

How To Assign A Thumbnail Image To .avi Movie File In Media Center?

How do i assign a thumbnail image to an . Avi file to show up in "movies" section? When i go to the "movies" screen in windows media center, the files are designated with a plain colored box with the title of the movie, and that's it. I know there is a way to assign an image to the movie, just like media center shows the album covers when i go to my music library. I cannot figure it out. There is no field for an image in the metadata, and i have tried putting a .jpg with the same name as the movie title and that has not worked either. Can anyone help?

How To Burn Files To Cd/dvd?

How do i burn files to cd/dvd? I've spent the past hour trying to burn files to my cd/dvd. Even after i erase the disc and tell windows 7 what files to burn it tells me the files already exist on the destination disc or there isn't enough disc space on the destination even after i erase the darn thing.

Then when i finally get it start burning and even during what i perceive as the burning process that balloon keeps popping up telling me i have files ready to burn even though they were burned (at least that was the case the last time) i'm attempting to burn the same updated files that i burned a week ago. Apparently erasing the disc does no good. Am i missing something or is there an easy way to do this? Maybe some third party software would make things a bit easier.
