Admin Error: Trusted Installer Denying Access To Files

Cab anybody help me please, firstly am not technical minded at all i have a toshiba satellite l300 with windows 7 ultimate on but i have problems of not being able to access half the stuff on the stupid thing. I get messages like access is denied + i need "permission" of a "trusted installer" to access this file and its really beginning to irritate me. Surely as the only person with an account to this laptop i should have unrestricted access to it all.

Also as stated there is only me with an account but say the laptop goes to sleep when i wake it it offers me the chance to switch user? Another thing is i seem to have a lot of error, s and warning in the system performance i would be very grateful if someone could help me clear this up.

Admin Access Denied

I am trying to ad some changes to the file hosts

C:windowssystem32driversetchosts

But no matter what i try to do, it wont let me save the file. I have done so as the admin, ive added file sharing to the folder. I tried to put file sharing on the file hosts itself but it in was denied! Ive saved the file and copy and paste into the folder, i can even re-name the file hosts, but the file i paste is a txt file and i don't know how to take the extension off.

Security Settings And Trusted Sites Problem

I've encountered many irritating problems since i bought this windows 7 dell computer. With enormous time and effort, i've managed to solve most of these problems but not all. Here is one of the unsolved ones:

I want to set security for general internet browsing to the highest level. This setting is located on the internet options security tab. It provides for different settings for general browsing than for trusted sites. I have added about fifty trusted sites to the list and chosen a low security setting for them since i trust them.

But here is the problem: when i set the highest level of security for general internet browsing, some of the trusted sites no longer display anything. I just see a blank screen. It makes no sense, because there is a different setting for trusted sites, and they shouldn't be affected by the setting for general browsing. So it doesn't work as it should. And in order to visit my trusted sites, i have to set security for general browsing to medium high instead of high. That is the problem.

Error - Admin Policy Is Set To Not Allow To Install .msi Programs

Can't install programs (. Msi?), And the error message says that it's because the admin policy is set to not allow it. But i'm the admin, i've recently installed windows 7, and, as the title says, there are some programs i can't install. What i've noticed is that they are "msi" files (i think) - don't know if this means anything or not. I get an error message (red "x") that says that the system admin doesn't allow such a file to be installed, but i'm the sys admin. I took a gander at the admin tools (control panel), but i don't understand most of what's there.

Installer Error Code 12

I just purchased a new computer with windows 7, and i've been having trouble installing new software. I was able to get around the issue for my first program, because windows allowed me to complete the installation and then detected and then adjusted settings to fix the error. However, for the second program (labview by national instruments), i cannot complete the installation. I get the error message: error: windows sdk function returned an error. (Error code -12)

It appears just before installation begins and then again after a few steps. At the second appearance of the error message, the installation window closes. I found some documentation about this error code in windows xp. My understanding is that the error message appears when the windows installer is corrupted. However, i cannot find documentation for restoring the windows installer in windows 7.

Does this appear to be a problem with the windows installer? How can i fix it?

Installer Error 1719 Office 2010

Windows 7 pro 64 bit - installer error 1719 while installing office 2010 pro plus. I am getting the noted error doing the noted install - msixec.exe shows in 'services' as running and i have tried the unregister and register moves. There are enumerable threads on this error however none that i saw that related to w7-64 and i am loath to start fiddling with registry entries and so on without being sure that i am following correct instructions (in fact i did look into the registry following one suggestion and found that my entries did not match those described in the solution).

There also seems to be a lot of 'try this and try that' some here even referencing non-microsoft blogs - one would think that ms would want to have definitive procedure for something as core as the installer on their flagship product. T the very least there ought to be a procedure to determine more precisely what is causing the problem.

For example, msiexec.exe can be run with numerous parameters to provide logging and so on but i have seen nothing on this in the forums.

Can someone please advice the correct procedure for resolving this?If i need to download cleanup utilities or whatever please can i have the exact url so that i am downloading the correct product?Ps - i should note that this install is coming form a . Iso file downloaded from msdn

Error 1719 - The Windows Installer Service Could Not Be Accessed

"error 1719. The windows installer service could not be accessed" when installing programs. After spending the last week every night trying to get some software installed (and of course searching for remedies in probably every forum available) i give up and post this help request. But first my story:

I experienced last week suddenly that my neat-receipts software didn't recognize my scanner any more. Upon trying to re-install the software i came across the error message that the windows installer could not be started. This is when i started first looking for solutions. I was surprised how many solutions i found (but most were practically repeating the same stuff), but none did it for me. At this point i was still under the assumption that this is a problem of the neat-receipts software.

Then after another night of frustration i could not start my office 2010 trial version any more receiving some kind of licensing error. I was somewhat surprised that the trial version ended that abruptly without providing me the option to enter a purchased license key (i was wrong), but didn't bother too much because i liked the product and had noticed in the last week as well that office 2010 was already officially released and i decided to buy it.

After spending some $300 and a successful download, i tried to install it. Nd here my saga continues. First i got the message that i couldn't upgrade my trial version and need to uninstall it. Uninstalling with the usual program uninstaller didn't work (windows installer error message) but i could uninstall it using the windows-installer-clean-up utility.

Now i could start the installation process, but after being almost halfway through with the installation i again receive the windows installer error that the windows installer service could not be accessed (error 1719). This is pretty much the same error i received in the very beginning when i tried to re-install the neat-receipts software. So it seems to be not an application error from neat-receipts nor office 2010, but a windows problem. Read more at the forum.

I have also made all he necessary network and sharing settings to allow connections. Other computers can access the "public" folder. But not the other shares that i set up. Although the other computer/s can 'see' them when viewing workgroup computers. Nb. All machines are on the same workgroup name.

Access Old My Documents Files

How do i access old 'my documents' files which were located on separate drives under vista with my new windows 7 installation. My vista (32bit) installation was on drive c with photo's located on drive d which was the same physical drive. Separately, i had a second hard drive with all other 'documents' on it, including word & excel files plus savegames etc which were set up by the system. I had pointed 'my documents' to this drive under vista.

I upgraded (though it was a fresh install) to windows 7 (64bit) and in explorer i can see these drives, and they show as loaded with files (100gb out of 150gb used) but a double-click on the drive shows an empty folder. The installation process was clean and i had no problems or errors.

I know that this is how it used to be seen in explorer under vista but the data seems to be completely inaccessible under windows 7. I have tried pointing to it from within libraries. The computer name both before and after the os change was the same and i have used the same password because i thought that might help. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Access Blocked To Files

I recently set up my new laptop with windows 7 ultimate and transferred files from my old xp laptop. I'm finding several folders that tell me "access denied". I've tried to upgrade the access through file properties>security but often the permission upgrade boxes are greyed out so i can't even improve the security. It seems that a lot of the "denied" files are under my user name.

The workaround this is to slap a blocked file from my old laptop onto a usb key and then saved it a public user on my computer but what a hassle and how inefficient.

Any ideas on how to resolve my security issues?

Lost Access To Files As Administrator

I was setting up my new desktop, including setting permissions for folders i did not want my children to have access to. The files were/are on my external hard drive. I am the owner/administrator, yet when i went to limit other users, i lost access to the entire folder. I cannot open it or see its contents and cannot change the permissions back to default settings. There are many gigs of data that i need. How can i access these files/folders?

Windows 7 seems to be pretty bitchy even to the owner/administrator. It makes no sense that any after market files/folders should ever be restricted to the owner/administrator.

Cannot Gain Access To Files As Administrator

I can not gain access to my files despite being the administrator. When i got this new laptop, i transfered my files from xp on my old computer, to this 7. Now i'm told i'm denied access to the files i transfered, despite being the sole administrator on my computer. I tried disabling the uac as someone suggested elsewhere, but i am still denied access. My old computer is dead, and these are the only copies of the files. How can i get them?

Also, the product key that is on my laptop for this version of windows 7 is not accepted when i try to get support from windows, and when i try the "let windows get your serial number", it just says i've entered the wrong number. So i can't get direct support for a windows 7 program that is only 1 month old. If it's not the "product key" and not either of the other 2 sets of numbers, then where's the stupid serial number?

Cannot Access Registry Or .exe Files

Can't access registry or .exe fies so i got a new computer, it has windows  and runs on a 64-bit operating system. I had downloaded and played a game on my other computer, and the client worked just fine. On this computer, i downloaded the same client, from the exact same site, and for some reason i couldn't open, drag, or access the .exe file from my downloads. So i looked into it and over time realized that some .exe files would open while others wouldn't. I went in the registry and changed the value of both options in the exe folder without realizing that i should've just edited the default.

So to get to the point, i can't access any .exe files, on top of having absolutely no access to the registry. I can manage to et on the internet directly, but no programs or downloads will open, or can't access the registry ether. I've tried every trick in the book, booting in safe mode with command prompts, command prompts in general, and none of them seem to work. So without further adue, i'm screwed. Any help or suggestions?Oh and i've managed to have every single .exe file try and start with regedit, reading that if you tried to open regedit with itself it would work. Absolutely not. And now i'm in an even deeper rut. Nd changing it to regedit.com doesn't work either.

Admin Problem - I Am The Only User On The Pc

I installed windows 7 ultimate 32bit version and then decided to go with the 64bit instead. So i made a full install of win 7 64bit but i am getting admin problems. I am the only user on this pc and live alone. I see 2 users when i boot up and one of them lets me install only certain programs. I also noticed that when i open control panel i am not able to open certain areas. I click on the link and it will not open. From what i see here is my set up is messed up. I want to reinstall win 7 and know what i need to do if i want only one user. I want to see win 7 boot up and go straight into the program without asking me who is the user. I am willing to reinstall the program if it will help solve the problem.

Lost Admin Account

I had changed my login to automatic. After that i managed to install still programs. But when i started windows again, it didn't let me to change settings which demand admin rights. I'm now a guest and there isn't any other accounts. When i try to make changes in uac, for example, it demands to log in as admin and "then press yes", but there is no fields to log in and "yes"-button is gray. Is there any chance to get admin back without reconfiguration with windows cds. I also tried to recover the system but it demands, of course, admin rights.

Problem Admin Password

One day, my friend decided that he would look at some "bad" videos (just as a joke) on my computer. I immediately shut down my computer. When i turned it back on, the administrator account had a password on it (with a password hint of: support) and my non administrative account was set with time restrictions, etc. Etc. It is my own computer and i cant even install any programs or play any "m" rated games on it (halo). My computer is totally useless right now. Is there anyway to get the password back, so that i can go back to my normal business?

Uac / Admin Problem

I was setting up my mothers laptop because she ones again got a virus on it. So i was putting parental controls so she couldn't use is as an admin. I mad her a standard user i thought i'd be nice and hide the admin acct. By disabling the administrator via cmd.exe "net user administrator /active:no". Now i want to install some additional programs and i cannot enable the administrator login because the uac settings do not allow me to turn the admin on.

In the command prompt, it says "type administrator password and then click yes. " But when i type the password the "yes" button remains gray and i cannot click it, so it does not allow me to login as admin, so i'm stuck only able to login as a user, but not the admin. I know my admin password buti still can't log in as the admin.

Admin Account Problem With Permission

So in the control panel it says i have an admin account. But it's still telling me sometimes when i try to access files that i need admin permission. I'm also having this annoyance with office 2003 where i have to agree to the eula again every time i open it, and when i googled the problem, it says this happens if you're not on an administrator account. I'm having a similar problem with another program too, getting errors caused by running programs as if i'm not on an admin account. What's going on? How do i fix this? I am the only account on this computer and it does say i'm an administrator, so i'm pretty baffled.
