Printer Will Not Print Even Though Computer Shows It Installed

My 962 all-in-one will not print even though the computer shows it installed. I had to replace my old computer and this printer is the old one. The computer goes through all the steps of installing the printer, but when it gets to the last step it fails. This is a dell inspiron with windows 7.

Printer Doesn't Print, But Job Shows Up In Spooler

The printer doesn't print, but job shows up in spooler when printing by network (lpr) - unless i restart the spooler! Same problem here. My epson d120 does have a compatible win7 driver and prints nicely via the same router configured in winxp (or 7, resp. ) Identically. In win7, no go. That is, unless i restart the spooler service/daemon under computer-manage-services manually. But not every time. When it restarts & will print correctly, epson's status window will pop up und inform about the progress.

I'm getting tired of the spooler restarting - please fix this (it works in xp)!?

Further details: win 7 rc (build 7100), updated printer drivers by clicking windows update button (added loads more, took ages). This btw also added another option under printer ports : customized/user defined (i'm using the german version, don't know the equivalent name in english). This wasn't present before the windows update procedure. It also exists in xp, though. Finding the printer via discovery of the port doesn't work - probably a upnp issue.

Will definitely not buy (though i think it's a great system/os) until this is fixed for good. Or is it, that your company doesn't like fully functional rc versions out there that users will eventually hack to get a freeby?

Don't get upset about the latter suggestion - it was just inspired by what other software vendors have been doing in the past. Not a good sort of behavior, if it ever leaks to the media/community.

Printer Problem - Print Job In Print Queue Is Preventing Other Print Jobs

Cannot print from new laptop to shared printer - "a print job in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing". I recently bought a new laptop and want to print to a printer (hp color laserjet 1600) i have shared over the network from a windows 7 (x64) machine. When i try to print from my laptop it stays in the print queue and i have to run the troubleshooter on the host computer to resolve the issue and allow it to print.

If i run the troubleshooter on the laptop it tells me it could not identify the problem while on the host it tells me "a print job in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing" and it says it fixed the problem and prints the document but i have to do this every time. I also have this printer added to a laptop and a netbook and they both print the document just fine and have no issues. The laptop i am having the problems is running windows 7 (x64).

Computer Shows Usb Device Is Connected When It Is Not

Recently i started up my computer and plugged in my ipod to charge it (as usual). The charging worked fine, but a window popped up saying that it failed to install the proper software. It also started looping the sound played when it finds a new usb device, despite the fact that my ipod had remained plugged in and apparently connected the whole time.

Naturally, i unplugged my ipod. The computer kept giving me the generic error message (device software was not installed, or whatever; no specific error number), as well as playing the sound every 10 seconds or so. I tried restarting my computer, to no avail.

When i look in my device manager, it shows that there is two unknown devices present. But there is nothing connected to my usb drives. I tried uninstalling the unknown devices; the sound continues to play, and after a minute or so the unknown devices reappear in my device manager. I also tried uninstalling all of my usb root hubs, but this did nothing: the sound kept playing and the unknown devices reappeared.

I'm out of ideas and i haven't been able to find any info on the internet pertaining to this problem.

My computer is an hp pavilion dv3t-2000, running windows 7 home premium 64-bit. Also present in my usb controllers menu is:

 - Intel(r) ich9 family usb universal host controller - 2934 through 2938
 - Intel(r) ich9 family usb2 enhanced host controller - 293a and 293c
 - Usb root hub (x5)

Let me know if you need any more details on my set-up. I'm no pro with this computer stuff, but i'm relatively able, in most cases, given the right support to refer to.

Hp Inkjet 2230 Printer - Print Jobs Stuck In Print Queue

Print jobs stuck in the print queue and will not print on windows 7 64-bit driver for hp business inkjet 2230 printer. I have installed the current hp universal printing pcl 5 driver on my windows 7 64-bit os. When i try to print a test page on my hp business inkjet 2230 printer (usb to parallel cable connection) the job hangs in the print queue. I can run the troubleshooter and purge the spooler but then i'm back where i started. The next print command will result in the same error.

This appears to have also been a problem with windows vista (64-bit). Suggestions to remedy the problem are welcomed.

Network Printer Shows As Offline When Its Online

Network printer shows as offline when it's online at its locally connected computer. Printer is laserjet 4000 attached through a usb port. Printer driver is hp universal printing pcl 5 (v5. 1).computer which has printer connected locally is windows 7 professional 32 bit.computer which has printer showing as offline is windows 7 professional 64 bit. Fter acquiring and implementing 64-bit printer driver everything works well for about 24 hours, then printer shows as offline. Trouble shooting says set printer to default printer - no change in status. Unlike vista, there doesn't appear to be any way to set the printer status as online.

Print Driver Is Not Installed

Driver doesn't work with my laserjet 2100. During the driver install, i used "windows update", it then locates the driver, and seemingly installs. Afterwards, when the printer is accessed, it errors. When i go into the printer console, it tells me ". Print driver is not installed. " I go back to device manager, and the driver is named, and seems that it is installed. Very frustrating. (I'm connecting to a printserver via wireless across to my local network to a print server). I have several other pc's running 2000, xp, and vista with no problems.

So in summary, after the driver is "installed", i get an error accessing the printer, and subsequently get an ". Driver not installed. " Error message during the troubleshooting period. Windows "troubleshooter" did not find any issues. Also, the printserver has a static ip address and i used that address in setting up the printer port. Now what?

Waking Computer To Print

I've read all the topics on sleeping and waking i could find but nothing is like my problem. I have two hp computers running w7 through a wired linksys router. One computer (a) is connected to my usb printer. I have shared the printer and if (a) is awake i have no problem printing from computer (b). If (a) is asleep the printer doesn't print. I've read about wake on lan (wol) and have played with the interface adapter settings on (a). If magic packet is unchecked, then computer will try to go to sleep but will wake soon after.

I suspect there is some traffic from the router (maybe) that wakes the computer. If magic packet is checked, computer will not wake when i try to print to it, so i have to run upstairs and wake the computer to get it to print. How do i get (b) to send the magic packet when it prints so that (a) is awakened? Is it something i need to do in (b)'s setup? Is it something i need to set in windows? Or in each application (word, excel)?Or am i trying to use the magic packet incorrectly and really need to keep it unchecked and do something else to my network?

Installed Printer Drivers Stacked Under One Printer Icon

If 2 printer drivers for the same printers is installed, eg a postscript and a pcl driver, both printers are stacked under the one printer icon, and you only know that two separate drivers are installed if you right click on the printer icon, and only at that point does it show that two separate printer drivers have been installed. Is there a way to unstack the two printers so they show as two separately installed printers ?

Installed Printer Missing From Printer List

Win7 home premium 64-bit. I installed an old zebra eltron printer that i use for shipping labels. Since my hp computer has no parallel ports, i had to use a buslink usb to parallel cable to get the printer installed. I found that the 64-bit vista drivers worked and the printer works as normal.

Now i need to adjust some settings on the printer, yet when i pull up the hardware/printer page, the printer is missing! It's probably hidden behind the ieee1284 controller (that is listed on the hardware page) but the printer itself is not on this page. How do i find this 'missing' printer?

Cannot Print To Hp 6500n Printer

I just installed windows 7 upgrade over vista, and cannot print to my hp 6500n printer. Any clues? I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall drivers, but it still doesn't work, though it appears as one of my devices. I am having problems printing in all programs. I had already attempted to use: go to hp printer support and download this driver for window 7 32 bit.

File name:userhpndu-2017.exe, (1/1, 1. 2m)
Version 2. 0. 0. 17
Date 2009-10-20

When i do that, i get "this system does not meet one or more of the minimum requirements needed to install this product. The installation can't continue". So, nothing happens. Interestingly, the printer is in control panel, even though i have uninstalled and rebooted. During the last attempt, i connected the printer using the usb and windows appeared to attempt to grab a driver, but again, it does not work now wirelessly, and it did using vista.

Cannot Print To Remote Printer

I had vista home premium on my laptop from which i could print on an old lexmark z11 attached to another laptop running xp. Recently i upgraded to windows 7 and now i cannot print this way. Although the 7 machine can see the printer, it says it is 'ready' and i see stuff in its print queue on my machine, after a while these items disappear without appearing on the xp machine's queue. The printer shows no activity whatsoever. I have removed the printer from my machine and reinstalled it. Still no joy. The xp machine has extra drivers loaded for "2000 and xp".

After Reboot Printer Will Not Print

I am with the guy about the troubleshooter not working half the time. I have a lexmark z715 printer. Installed windows 7 on a new partition on a new hard-drive fresh and it detected the printer and downloaded a driver that worked and all was fine. 2 days later i shut down the computer and didn't use it for a day.

Come back online and print spooler quit working. Ok looked in diagnostics and it says is running and on automatic. Did a complete unistall of the lexmark software and that hung for 4 hours till i shut it down. So manually i went in and deleted anything associated with lexmark registry included.

Next day i thought i would give it another try so i restart computer and do a search and it finds the printer and installs a lexmark z700-900 p700-900 driver and software from the windows update sight. Printer shows up and test page prints just like it should. I do a test and print off a microsoft word file and all is good. Reboot. Now i can see the printer. Can adjust the printer properties. Yet everything i send to the printer flashes in the print queqe for a sec and deletes saying it was printed. The size of these files are 8 bytes.

I am on a dual boot system
I have windows xp installed on a c drive.
I have a backupdrive d.
I have a backup partition on c called h.
I have a tetrabyte hard drive called g where windows 7 is installed.
I have a q9650 processor with 4 gig s of ram
I have a 9800gtx+ 1 gig video card.

I can print in xp fine the printer is hooked to the usb and it turns on and prints well.
In windows 7 and in windows xp when i shut the computer down the printer shuts off also.

I have installed the windows xp driver which actually worked also till reboot. I have installed the windows vista driver that is recommended from the updater and it would not even see the printer. I after cleaning out the registry again get windows update to find that driver and it worked until reboot and at least i can still communicate with the printer.

But still cannot print. Also want to add that ive spent a good 8 hours on this researching and this seems to be an issue with alot of people. Especially with windows 7 recognizing supposedly compatible devices. Seems someone was over optimistic or manufacturers deceived in placing their equipment on the list.

Oh also i have microsoft office installed and microsoft outlook which printed fine also before reboot. I am currently looking through the forums for any other things to do. I am figuring that probably going to have to upgrade my printer due to fact that it would only cost me 50 bucks more than ink for this one. But i should not have to if its on compatible list.

Hp C4500 Printer - No Driver Installed

I have an hp c4500 wireless printer, its installed and working fine on win7, its working a lot better than xp and i'm really happy with it now.

Here is the problem: when i go into printers and devices it says there are errors with my computer, when i press troubleshoot it tries to install the driver for the c4500 but fails, after that my c4500 no longer works and i have to uninstall the hp software and reinstall it to get the printer working again.

I guess i am getting this message as hp use some special software to the wireless printing, i thought if i installed the printer again over usb it might solve the problem, tried this and again the printer works fine but win7 still says there are no drivers installed.

You might say ignore it but i have another problem, my hp fingerprint scanner does not yet have a driver and i want to use troubleshoot once in a while to check for a new driver and the troubleshoots does not appear to give the option to skip the printer, it also bugs me to have a message saying there is a fault when there is not.

Anyone help me convince win7 my printer is installed correctly?
