Explorer Restarts When Folder In Full Screen

I have noticed that when i expand a folder to full screen view and then close it more often than not windows explorer comes up with the windows explorer is not responding and then restarts windows explorer. Everything else works ok and if i view a folder thats not expanded to full screen that works ok everytime. I have downloaded the latest video drivers today which has no effect. I have used auto-runs to play with shell extensions that has no effect.

I have tried it in safe boot mode with all but microsoft services disabled and it still happens. I can run apps in full screen and they work ok. The event log for one of these failures is below. Can anyone throw some light on this.

Ps i am virus and spyware protected which is up to date and finds nothing.

Full File Address In Folder Explorer Bar

How to show full file address in folder explorer bar in windows 7? Is it possible to make the address show similar to xp (c:program filesadobe. )? It's extremely confusing as it is now, especially when in a mapped drive (i would expect the base level to show the mapped drive rather than "computer").

Suddenly Computer Stops With Blue Screen And Restarts

My system is win 7. I recently got this new notebook. I thought i was having problem with anti-virus but i recently came to know about this blue screen of death. Suddenly the computer stops in between anytime with the blue screen showing up and computer restarts. I recently uninstalled norton which was a free-version which i got with notebook and installed kaspersky. I ve now even removed kaspersky and installed bit-defender but problem is still occurring. No virus detected by both.

I ve even tried to restore the notebook to the day i bought this. But the problem is not fixed. The error message looks something like what appears in this link http://www.Gadgetlite.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/windows-7-bsod.jpg. I am worried that my new system may get hardware problems due to this.

Explorer Searches Problem With Ordering Results By Full Path

Explorer searches no longer (i.e. Since xp) seem to allow ordering results by full path in the folder column. Open explorer, browse to "c:", search for "*. *Proj", lots of results, "folder" column (which used to show whole path logically) now shows last folder then first to last-but-one folder (e.g. "Aardvark(c:program files)"). This means that i cannot get a logical order when i order by this column. Very annoying when trying to find visual studio projects on my machine.

This sucks! I realize this is probably by design since the addition of libraries but it means that i have to reboot to ubuntu to do this type of search ordering now (pain!) If anyone knows a way around this to put folder as e.g. "C:program filesaardvark"i will be very grateful.

P. S. Please drop ntfs asap. Linux uses a modern file-system (ext4:2006), solaris uses a modern file-system (zfs:2004 - loved by codeproject.com) please don't keep using this slow and bad filesystem - the little improvements each year since 1993 are really started to seem sad and ineffectual.

Full Screen Browsing With Ie

This is not a question but a suggestion. I couldn't find any more appropriate place to post it. I use full-screen browsing as much as possible to maximize my screen real estate, and have found a few things that would help make this easier.

1- when a new page is loading, show the status of the connection to the website on the main screen. The problem is that the connection progress is normally displayed to the user on a browser tab, status bar or system tray, but all these areas are hidden in full-screen mode so there is no information for the user to know the status of his connection attempt.

2- when opening a new tab in full-screen mode (either with the cursor or using ctrl+t), the new tab opens and then the screen immediately maximizes again. Of course, opening a new tab is only the first step in the process. We still need to enter a web address, or search term, or select from the favorites or history menus, so the menus and tabs should remain visible until the user has launched a website. Or, ie can go back to full-screen after the user clicks on a space inside the new tab.

3- as far as i know there is no shortcut key to access the internet search dialog box like there is to access the address bar (f4). I think one of the function keys should be used to give one-button instant access to the search field.

Fyi i am using ie8 on vista home premium, if that matters. I think this functionality would be beneficial to users of all different versions, especially given the preponderance of laptops, netbooks, and the upcoming release of chrome os!

Full Screen Anti Alias

Hey, today i have a question about disabling the full screen anti-alias. I installed windows 7 over my windows vista os back in october when windows 7 was first released in stores. I had a few games installed on my pc prior to me upgrading to windows 7 but since i've tried installing any game on my pc now that it runs on windows 7, the game either won't play or it advises me to disable the full screen anti-alias to play the games i install. The thing is, i don't know where to go to disable
The full screen anti-alias. Hopefully that is in fact the resolution in resolving this issue. Otherwise i will not be able to play the games i enjoy on my pc. Do help me out with this issue please.

Display Does Not Fill Full Screen

I use two display in an extended desktop configuration, a 19 inch and a 22 inch. After upgrading from vista to windows 7 professional i have a problem if i set my smaller display as the main display. This problem did not occur until i upgraded. The problem is that with the smaller display as the main, the picture on the secondary screen only fills part of the display and not the full display. If i reverse the setting and use the larger display as the main, then it fills the screen and the second display is also full screen width.

Getting Games To Run Full Screen

I bought this new toshiba satellite laptop last week. It has windows 7. None of my games will run full screen. I never had any problem with them on either of my other computers or systems xp or vista. I have w7 home premium.

I am just sick with trying to figure this out. The only option after this is to simply return the new laptop and buy a used one that runs on xp or vista. If there is anyone who could help me, i would be eternally grateful. I am so upset with all of this. I own a gaming site and none of my 33 games will work now with the windows 7 program.

How To Play Movie In Full Screen On Tv ?

With windows xp and the nvidia driver, i could play a video in vlc and it would automatically play full screen on my tv. No window borders or anything else. It was an option in the nvidia driver to play movies full-screen on tv. Is there an easy way to do this in win 7? If so, i haven't been able to find it. Any ideas?

I know that the c:usersmy pictures along with my music, documents, etc. Folders are actually shell folders which "point" to another folder. By default, c:usersmy pictures is located in c:userspictures. C:userspictures does not show in windows explorer even when show hidden files is turned on. My question is how to you see the actual folder c:userspictures. (If i were to change the location of my pictures, how would i ever browse the original location?)

Full Screen Aspect Ratio Problem

I have a new windows 7 laptop with a wide-screen display, and i've connected it via vga to a 4:3 aspect ratio projector. Of course, i set the display resolution to a 4:3 aspect ratio to compensate, and this works just fine on the desktop, but as soon as i attempt to run a full-screen overlay, say from a media player or a powerpoint presentation, the system makes the assumption that it's still in a wide-screen format, and inserts black bars on the left and right to compensate, which overcompensates on the already 4:3 ratio screen, resulting in everything being scrunched up in the center and stretched vertically.

Hdtv Desktop Output - Full Screen

When i first connected my hdtv via hdmi and duplicated the desktop on both laptop and tv, i got a full screen image (at 1366x768). Now, i get a small sized desktop in the middle of the hdtv, unless i only display the desktop on the hdtv (at 1080 lines) and not the laptop. How do i change this back? Also, i used to have the functionality when i hit fn+f5 that it cycled through a range of different display output modes. However, now i need to use windows+p to cycle through projector modes. Any ideas what's changed?

Assassins Creed 1 Not Playing Full Screen

I have an amd 3. 2 quad with a 5770ati graphics card all my gaming graphics is great, and all my other games run to full screen with no boarders (stretch from graphics card is ok). Oh an windows 7, great. My problem is only with assassins 1 which seems to run with a windows boarder of some type that i don't recognize, it has in the top left corner a white rectangle with a small blue square in the middle an to the right of that the name assassins creed.

The bottom also has the task bar, the best i can do to make it full screen is right click on the top bar an hit move then just click the bottom bar an the task bar disappears but the top one remains.

An if i go to close to the top during a game with my right mouse button on the move box comes up again. I don't know if this problem is with the game or a windows setting, i'm not very good with my new computer or windows yet.

Pc Restarts Randomly

Okay so i have a relatively new velocity micro gaming computer that is about 3 weeks old and i have recently been experiencing one big problem. My computer just randomly restarts for no apparent reason (usually when i leave it alone for like half an hour to watch tv or something) and when it starts back up it gives an error message like windows did not shut down properly and it gives me the option to enter safe mode. I am currently running the paid version of norton internet security and i have already scanned my computer for viruses (full scan not quick scan).

In addition i have updated windows with all the recommended settings and updated my nvidia gt 220 video card driver from their website. I have performed all sorts of scans but i don't see any real problem that could be causing it. I am pretty sure it is not power-related because i'm using a good outlet with a surge panel. I also went into my system settings and unchecked the thing that says restart on system failure, but the problem still persists.

Update Restarts Computer

Each night windows update restarts my computer and updates my driver software for wireless. I have to roll back the driver to get the wireless to work. Not sure why this is happening or what the root cause is, but each night the driver is updated by windows update and the wireless radio won't work. I then go and roll back the driver to the previous version and it works perfectly. I have 64 bit windows 7 hp laptop with an atheros ar9285 802. 11 b/g wifi adapter. If i click update driver in the device manager the same thing occurs.

The first time i've received a message when windows was shutting down was just a while ago, and it said something about the memory. I have run memtest86 which showed no problems earlier. I can't open the mini-dump file but got hte following message this one time (have not had any messages like these before and the event viewer hasn't given me any useful information).

Pc Crashes And Automatically Restarts

Original title: pc has become massively unstable when i first installed windows 7 my dell desktop was reinvigorated and ran like a fresh young athlete it woke fast and went back to sleep as quickly.

However this is but a distant memory as my once lithe machine is now nothing more than a grumpy unpredictable demon.

My problems are not measured in days or hours my problems can best be grouped in minutes.

1. The machine will simply re-start sometimes i get a warning more often i do not with absolutely no explanation.

2. Firefox 3. 6 crashes normally within minutes of loading, once it starts crashing there is nothing that will prevent it.

3. Chrome crashes normally within minutes of loading, once it starts crashing there is nothing that will prevent it.

4. Internet explorer crashes normally within minutes of loading; once it starts crashing there is nothing that will prevent it.

5. Windows desktop manager is either corrupt or just plain angry as it crashes without warning or seeming reason.

Anyone with any suggestions as to where to start looking for the problem, or better still a solution will be listened to with my full attention! The sooner the better please as one more week of this and i am going back to xp pro!

Pc Restarts Each Time I Try To Shut Down

I've looked through the forums to see if i could find a solution to this issue, but the most i've been able to find is that there might be an incompatible driver somewhere on my system that's causing this to occur. When i click on "shut down", the computer does shut down, but then it turns back on after a few seconds. I had a clean install of windows 7 ultimate (64-bit)done on the computer to wipe everything off of it and start from scratch, and this still occurs. My computer is an mpc clientpro 424. I've tried disabling automatic restart, and the issue still occurs. Can anyone help?

Automatic Updates Restarts

I have windows 7 with automatic updates on. What really frustrating to me is that whenever i am working on my computer, the windows update decides to restart my computer, terminating all applications without warning or notification to my knowledge. Due to this, my documents in word were closed down without saving and everything i had on the desktop were terminated. It was a force restart and the computer did that automatically without my knowledge. It is very frustrating and i think that whoever designed it this way is not intelligent. This type of design in the system is flawed and should be fixed immediately.

I should have complete control over my computer, not windows having control over me. I should be able to control or postpone the restart, but the computer did not ask me that at all, it just restarted without warning. I am furious by this and would like to know if there is a solution. I switched the settings, now, to "download updates but only i select which to install". Even with the automatic installation of updates settings on, the computer should ask me if i would like to restart now or later, it should not automatically restart. Thank you for your time.
