Network Printing - Remote Computer Says Its Printing But It Does Not

I have two network desktop computers with windows 7. I have a printer attached to one of the computers and was able to print from the other using homegroup. That process stopped working and when i send a document from the remote computer it says it's printing but doesn't. It's like it gets stuck in a loop. Help anyone?

Printing To Remote Printer Connected Via Usb To Xp Computer

I am using my c5580 as a remote network printer. The printer is hooked up via a usb cable to my main (xp) server computer. The rest of my (xp & vista) computers are accessing and printing through my wireless network connection with no problem. It is my newly purchased pc with "windows 7" on it. 64 bit that can't print. I setup a new printer by adding a "network printer". It found the hp printer through network search and the drivers loaded ok. When i go to print i get the following message "windows can not print due to the current printer setup, try one or more of the following".

* Check the printer by test page from windows
* Make sure the printer is turned on and on-line - done
* Reinstall the print driver -done

I have loaded all windows updates and went to hp to get the latest printer drivers. Still no luck.

Remote Desktop Printing Between Xp / Win7 X64

I'm trying to access my work machine from 2 different locations. The work machine runs win 7 pro x64. I setup remote desktop hosting on it. When i access the work machine from another win 7 pro x64 machine, everything works fine, including local printing (to the printer next to me), as it should. But when i access the work machine from a win xp pro machine, i can't print. My local printer (attached to the xp pro box, next to me) doesn't appear in the list of available printers when i'm logged into the work machine. (Yet i can print locally on the win xp pro machine just fine. ) Fwiw, the printer is a canon mp830.

How do i get printing working? Do i need to install a driver? On which machine? And do i install the x86 or x64 version of the driver? (I don't think it's even possible to install the x64 driver on the win xp machine, since it's a 32 bit version of windows. )

Homegroup Printer Not Printing From Remote Laptop

Just purchased a desktop and laptop both with windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Loaded the print driver for my lexmark x4270 all in one. I can print to the printer when desktop or laptop is wired to the printer via usb, however cannot get the laptop to print via the homegroup network. Sent off a test print to the printer icon id'ed as the shared printer and get a message back that says page has been sent, however nothing printing. I did setup the home group, passwords match, and print sharing turn on. Any idea how i can get this printer working via the homegroup network?

Network Printing

I have a pc running 32 bit vista with a usb connection to my printer. It is connected wirelessly to my home network. It prints fine via usb. I have a new laptop running 64 bit windows 7. It also prints fine connected usb to the printer. When i try to wireless print over my home network, my print job does nothing. The so called network printer can be added on the laptop in the add printer wizard. The host machine has the 64 bit drivers installed for the windows 7 laptop.could it be a port issue? What port should the laptop have assigned to connect to the printer attached to the host machine on the network?

Printing On Network Printer

I upgraded 2 desktop pcs from vista to win 7. Each pc has its own printer directly attached. Prior to upgrading, both pcs could print to either printer. After upgrading, one pc can print to both but the other can print only the printer directly attached however, the printer on the other machine is visible when checking devices on the network. I have gone through checking network names, sharing, reinstalling drivers, deleting and reinstalling the printer with no success. I've even attempted to establish a "home group" but am unable to do so. Any suggestions?

Printer Not Printing Over Network

I saw a question similar to mine but not quite the same issue. My main desktop is running win7 pro and my laptops and other desktop are running win xp pro. I have set up a work network not a home network, per instructions from a friend in it. All other computers can see the printer and print jobs get spooled to the main computer. The jobs arrive but do not print. Just to clarify, i can print just fine from the main computer. I know there is a tutorial on here for this issue, but the graphics are no longer present, so it's rather difficult to check what the settings should be.

Network Printing Problem

I recently installed windows 7 over vista on the computer to which my hp all in one printer and my new linksys wireless n gigabit router are attached. I have another xp pro computer wired to the router. I also have two laptops running windows 7, one running xp pro and a desktop computer with xp pro that all at different times access the home network wirelessly.

Only the two computers wired to the router can print. All other computers either show the printer offline or an error occurred during print. The network is operating fine otherwise. The printer does not show up on the network but it does show shared under the printer's properties. The printer is a hp psc all-in one 2210 that everyone could print to prior to installing windows 7.

Network Bidirectional Printing Support

On my home network i have a hp laserjet 4000 with 600n j3113a network card on the printer. It works fine for my computers but in windows 7 x64 ultimate rtm i am trying to enable "enable bidirectional support" on the printer and cannot do it. I check the box reboot and it is either grayed out or blank again.

I am trying to do this because applications that i am using in win7(hpscanjet g4050) will not print more than one page even though i request 12 pages to print. This happens when i scan a paper and want 12 copies, it will only print one. I thought that if i enabled "enable bidirectional support" it would do what it is supposed to. This function tells the computer when the last page was finished. That is where i am trying to get this enabled to see if it corrects the problem.
I have uninstalled the printer drivers, rebooted used the drivers from wu after no luck with hp drivers and so forth. No matter what i do the "enable bidirectional support" will not enable even checking the box.

Hp Hl 4040cn Printer On Peer-to-peer Network Printing Trouble

Have a home peer-to-peer wireless network with a desktop computer and a laptop both running windows 7, both wireless connections to network. The desktop computer can print to our hp hl-4040cn printer with no problem, but the laptop says that it cannot communicate with the printer and will not print. I have reinstalled the print driver and in the process it was able to find the printer just fine during the installation process. I have norton 360 and have checked the firewall settings and they are on for file and printer sharing.

I have compared all of the firewall and network settings of the laptop to the desktop computer that is printing and they are the same. When i use the troubleshooter it tells me the following two things:printer brother hl-4040cn series cannot be contacted over the network.contact your network administrator (that is me). Printer brother hl-4040cn series is not shared with the homegroup.

I tried sharing it with the homegroup, but that didn't fix it and the desktop is printing to it just fine without it being shared with the home group. The laptop should be printing directly to it through the network rather than printing through the desktop anyway.

Printing From Xp Mode

I have read many postings across the internet and the various microsoft offerings and none have solved the issue at hand.microsoft state that when an xp application is invoked seamlessly or xp mode is invoked i should be able to share the native printers that have been set up in windows 7.
This is not so.

It is not possible to "see" the native printers from with xp mode, nor is it possible for the invoked applications to print, nor is it possible to add a printer to the xp mode. I am running on a toshiba t130 which is equipped with a non hardware assisted virtualization processor. I have pressed ahead with the installation of windows 7 and the xp mode etc on advise from toshiba and microsoft. This now represents a significant investment of time and money bot of which are in short supply. Please do not now tell me that hav is essential - contrary to current documentation etc.

Questions :-
1. I have no tools tab on my installation of the xp mode within the virtual machine. Is this because there is no hav present on this machine? Obviously all the tutorials etc refer to this.
2. If this is the case please can someone direct me to correct document for the windows 7 virtual pc and xp mode where hav is not available. - I do not actually believe that any such documentation exists.

3. Please can some one explain how to add a printer to xp mode. I have been through a zillion forums where every one states this is as easy as falling off a log - but to my extreme frustration no one actually explains how this is done. Indeed at this time i do not believe that it can be achieved.

4. In the absence of any ability to print directly from applications invoked from the xp mode what alternative process is available.

Wireless Printing

I have a new hp laptop connected to an hp ps1315 printer and another new hp laptop (both with windows 7) connected through a wireless network. I have been able to print wirelessly for a couple of months, but all of a sudden, the printer shows "offline" on the wireless laptop, but "online" on the connected laptop. Restarting everything seemed to work the first time this occurred, but will not work now. Is there a way to set the wireless laptop to "printer online"?

Photo Printing Programs

I have had really just a few problems with window 7, one of which i'm coming to find out is the lack of the ability to print 4x6 single photo prints. With windows xp and my epson rx595 i was able to print any size under the sun i wanted to. With windows 7, all the compatible programs now will not allow me to print a single 4x6. I went to the epson website and downloaded an updater for windows 7. Still i am unable to print a single 4x6.

I can print 2 4x6's or even better yet 3 4x6's on one sheet of photo paper. This isn't what i want to do, some times yes but i want to use single 4x6 paper so it's easier to print and give out the photos to family. The other way, printing 3 on one sheet, i have to cut it and that takes away time that i could be spending with my granddaughter!

Envelope Printing Issue

When i try to print an envelope in word 2007, the default printing style comes up as  "headings+" and that seems to be why the address appears as double spaced on the window (and on the envelope) rather than single spaced. The double spaced address will not fit onto my envelope if i leave it as double spaced, plus it just looks bad. How can i get the spacing to revert to single. I've tried changing the default style but that will not adjust it. There are not a lot of options on the envelope print screen.

Hp Psc 2510 Printing Issue

My laptop can only print on the networked, via o2 wireless box, printer if my desktop is switched on. I used to be able to print even if it was switched off, so long as o2 box was still on. I have recently changed both my computers, however, the o2 wireless box is the same. With windows xp on both computers i could connect to my hp psc 2510 even if the desktop which has a usb connection to the printer was switched off. The printer has an ethernet connection to the o2 box.

When i try to set up the printer, it will only show up via the desktop computer. I'm not that computer literate, and so have quickly run out of idea's. As far as i can see, everything is set up for sharing, and i have tried troubleshooting, to no avail.

Hp 6110 Printer Stops Printing

Hp 6110 all-in-one printer stops printing one-tenth of the way down the page over & over (using windows 7, netgear wireless print server). We have a netgear 54 mbps wireless print server (model wgps606) that is hooked up to our hp officejet 6110 all-in-one (printer, copier, scanner, fax). We have three laptops printing to the 6110 through the print server. Two of the laptops are older and are running older versions of windows. My new laptop is running windows 7 home premium.

The older laptops have no problem printing to the 6110 through the print server. My new laptop can print to the 6110 through the print server but what happens is that it prints one-tenth or so of the first page, then stops and feeds the rest of the sheet through without printing, then starts reprinting, stopping one-tenth, stops and feeds through. Finally the whole page prints but usually after a bunch of partial pages print. This is entirely frustrating and is wasting a lot of paper & ink. I'm thinking it could be a problem with windows 7. Any thoughts?

An Unknown Error Occurred While Printing

My pc started running like molasses earlier this week, and since i got that fixed, it can't print to anything. How can i fix this? I've been using win 7 rc (64-bit) on a new pc (asus m3n78 motherboard, quad-core amd phenom 9500 processor, 4gb pc6400 ddr2 800mhz memory) since mid-july. This is a stand-alone pc connected directly to a lexmark x6170 printer via usb2 cable.

There are no routers or networks involved (other than the internet connection via a dsl modem). However, my firewall (comodo internet security) has reported finding (this week) a local area network at 192. 168. 1. 1.

The pc had been running fine til last tuesday (10/6). Then it started running like it was full of molasses. It would run ok at start-up, but once i had more than 1 or 2 things running, every little action took several minutes to complete.

The action center showed 3 problems, including something indicating that "windows 7 is no longer working" and something else indicating a chipset problem. First, i hit the win7 issue, which thought i wasn't getting updates. (I was, and had gotten an update just a couple of days earlier. ) I ended up downloading an "optional" update having to do with "hd audio". Then i went thru the "chipset" issue and ended up getting several nvidia drivers updated or installed. (I don't remember what the 3rd issue was, but i went thru it as well. )

Since doing all that, the molasses problem is gone. But now, i cannot print to any print driver - either my lexmark x6170 printer or my nuance pdf print driver. (The lexmark is using the 64-bit vista driver from lexmark. )

The win7 printer troubleshooter doesn't find a problem with either one. When i try to print to either one from firefox, i get "an unknown error occurred while printing. " If i try to print from nuance pdf converter pro 5. 1, the print task just disappears. If i try from ms excel 2003, i get either "your file could not be printed due to an error on docucom pdf driver on ne03" or "your file could not be printed due to an error on lexmark x6100 series on ne04"

At one point i found another lexmark driver via the microsoft website, and tried installing it. I think its name was something like "lexmark 5600-6500 series". That driver installed to "lpt1", and printing to it failed as well. I then deleted both lexmark drivers last night, and let the pc find the printer and install a driver on its own today. It found the "lexmark x6100" driver, presumably from my hard disk.

Printer Not Printing Internet Pages

I recently upgraded from windows xp to windows 7. I have a hp multi-function printer. It is set to print wireless. To date i have no problems printing from my hard drive. Today i was unable to print a page from the internet. For instance, if i make a payment online and the print this payment form page appears, i can't print it. Instead i get a plain page with the web address at the bottom. I've checked the print preview and indeed the page is blank. Any ideas?

Epson Printers Printing Slow

Very very slow printing and print spooler all of a sudden, i am practically unable to print on either of my 2 epson printers (r260 and r1800). When hitting print (or ctrl-p) in any application (adobe cs4, or ms office, or internet explorer, or firefox) it takes between 2 and 5 minutes for the printer dialog box to come up and just as long to print when hitting print. I have removed the printers, and re-installed new drivers from epson and i have also done several selective startups and clean boots, none of these help.

The printer is connected directly to the computer via usb. When all printers are deleted and only ms xps document writer and fax are in the list, the dialog boxes come up instantly, but as soon as i re-install any printer, it hangs. I have also re-installed windows 7 (as an upgrade), and stopped and re-started print spooler, but that didn't change anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's driving me crazy.

Win 7 Pro 64-bit Printing Is Not Available

I have seen numerous topics on her about windows 7 64-bit printing issues. Here is my case and i have not seen another like it. 1st - please be aware that this is in a corporate environment, 2nd - i have domain administrator rights across the entire domain. We have numerous printers in our domain and i generally use 5 of them. The printers that i am connecting to are attached to a windows server 2003 32-bit box and all printers have the x64 drivers enabled from the mfg on the server. I am running windows 7 pro 64-bit and am attached to the network via cable. I can browse for the printer and have it successfully add, and print a test page from windows. But when i am using applications like ie8, office, adobe reader, etc. I cant print. The specific error that i am getting is "printing is not available. There are no printers installed. You can select and configure a printer in windows control panel. "

I can tell you that i cant print to anything that is listed in my devices and printers, including the xps document writer from microsoft. This only occured once i installed office 2010 beta, and dropped back to office 2007 std. I have removed the printers and removed all drivers from c:windowssystem32spoolx643 and re-added the printers with the up to date drivers without luck. Anyone have an idea on this one?

Hp Lj P1505 Printer Does Not Start Printing

I have recently upgraded from xp to windows 7 and my hp lj 1505 no longer prints from any application or from the test page print in printer properties. The driver appeared to install okay and printer is being detected. After sending a print it spools and then says it is printing but printer does not start printing. The "see whats printing" window will say that print is printing and will not disappear unless i delete what i have sent for printing. There is nothing wrong with the hardware as it has been tested with a windows xp pc and works okay.

Problem Printing Through Wireless Printer Server

Problems printing with hp950c through a d-link dp-g310 wireless printer server after upgrade from windows vista to windows 7. I have a sony vgnz790dib that came with windows vista. I could access and use a hp950c inkjet printer through a d-link dp-g310 wireless printer server with vista. I upgraded to windows 7 yesterday and now cannot use the printer.

A dell xps 1330 running vista works fine. As far as i can tell, the ip address for the printer server on the sony is identical to that on the dell. I ran troubleshooter for the printer and there was no problem uncovered. I then went online to see if others had the same problem but could not find any identical problems. I went to hp online and found that there was an updated software which i downloaded and also connected the printer directly to the sony via usb and still no printing. Any advice on what to do next?

Printing From Win 7 Through Print Shared Printer On Xp

Have a new windows 7 machine. Have an old xp machine that i have a shared printer  (brother printer mfc 8640d). The 7 machine has the drivers for the printer and will print on the printer when the printer is directly hooked up to this machine. However, when i try to share the printer on the xp machine, it says that it can not find the driver for the printer.

I have tried downloading the 7 driver from the brother website to the xp machine with no luck (they do not have 7 even as an option on their site)  tried putting the printer on the 7 machine and making printer shared from there and then having xp machine print from there with no luck either. Was told that possible i should upgrade to windows 7 professional and this might solve the problems. Suggestions?
