Audio Device Is Disabled

I've gone back and forth looking through countless websites / forums for a solution to this, but i cant seem to find one. My computer's sound card would used to start acting funky after i left it on for a day or 2, and would require a restart, and after restarting from one of these, the sound stopped working altogether, my sound card is integrated into my motherboard. I also cant watch videos now since my sound stopped working, but video games work fine. As well towards the oddness, my internet connection tab in the bottom right of my screen says i'm not connected to anything, but im actually fine.

Headphones Device Disabled

I accidentally disabled my headphone device. I had my sound device manager open to the headphones manager. There was a check-box that said "disable this device" and i accidentally checked it. I clicked apply, then the box was blank except for a text saying "the device you are configuring has been removed" even when my headphones were plugged in. I tried replugging several times, and nothing. I looked all over the device manager/sound manager/control panel for anything that would let me enable my headphones to work again. Any ideas?

Cannot Enable Audio Device

I have a laptop toshiba tecra m11 with w7 64 pro. After a windows update i do not have any more sound. I cannot enable the audio device. - I do not have a restore point to use

- I have tried to disable/enable the sound card
- I have tried to de-install and re-install the sound card
- I have tried both drivers, 1 from the toshiba support website, one from the sound card manufacturer, realtek. Both not working

- Windows device manager tells that the sound card is working properly even if there is a cross (white cross inside a red circle) telling 'no speakers or headphones are plugged in".

- After running the troubleshooter, i am told the audio device is disable. I cannot enable it. I would like some sound. Any help ?

No Recording With Usb Audio Device

I choose to play the audio output of my pc via a hi-end usb dac rather than the scabby wee green hole. But as soon as i connect it (or any external usb sound-card) all internal audio input to the stereo mix disappears. Stereo mix remains the only and active device in the sound 'record' tab (other than microphone) with or without the dac connected but any signal showing activity on the bar meter when not connected disappears when connected.

As all recording software, including the basic windows recorder, still see only the stereo mix recording source option then no recording is possible whilst monitoring via the dac. I have to disconnect it and monitor any recording from said green hole. Then, once recorded, swop back again.

As i make music, entirely pc based, then i require as good and true a monitoring system as possible, thus the dac, but it's a bit of a nonsense that having got my mix just so via the dac, i then have to disconnect the thing just so's i can record it down onto two tracks of audacity or the like. And then connect it back to listen to the final result. Am i doing something wrong/missing the point somewhere please?

No Audio Output Device Installed

I had the same problem before. I upgraded to windows 7, had the red "x" on the audio and fixed it pretty easily with realtek high def audio driver. That's all i can remember from that. Well i bought a new printer and had to downgrade back to vista and that's when the sound messed up again. I tried to fix it with vista but was told i should go back to windows 7 so i did and the problem still persists.

I have a compaq presario sr5113wm and from my knowledge my sound card model is a creative sb live! Series (wdm). Everytime i start my computer the action center pops up with messages saying "address your sound card" or something like that so when i go to the device manager to check the sound, video and game controllers the only option listed is my webcam mic. Realtek or creative are not listed and i tried installing and uninstalling everything and i still get nothing! I keep getting people telling me to take the sound card out but i really want to leave that as a last resort and try to fix this technically. I've done it before but maybe i'm missing something.

No Audio Output Device Is Installed

I've already tried updating the driver, but the solution did not work and none of the other solutions are possible for me to even try. I haven't had problems with sound until randomly a little while ago. I have a dell inspiron 1440 on windows 7 64 bit home premium. On the bottom corner, there is a red x next to the sound icon and when i check for playback and recording devices, it just says that none are installed. This is a very frustrating problem.

Audio Output Device Is Not Installed

I just got the "no audio output device is installed" message for the second time. I can't remember what i did last time to fix it, but i've tried everything that people have suggested on multiple threads concerning this. It was literally working last night as i was listening to music, today when i turned it on it said i had no audio output installed. I have an hp pavillion dv9500. I upgraded from vista home 32-bit to windows 7 pro 64-bit, but never had a real problem until now.

I tried to find the driver on the hp site, but the driver didn't work. I've even tried to restore my computer to a week ago when i got a system update, but it keeps failing. There is also an exclamation mark on the co-processor under other devices in the device manager, but i have no idea what it is, and my sound, video, and game controller section pulled a houdini on me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Audio Output Device Not Working

I have a toshiba a215-s7444 laptop that i have had for 2yrs. It originally came with vista 32 bit installed and 2gb of ram and i added 1gb of ram a year later and all was fine. I recently did a format and custom install of se7en 64 bit. Now everytime that i resumed form "hibernation mode" i had no audio and got the error message that "no audio device is installed and it does not even appear in the device manager. When it runs the diagnostic it tells me that "new hardware may have not been detected. Now upon reboot everything is fine.

I have audio and in the device manager is the realtek hi-definition audio device. But resuming from sleep mode everything worked just fine. Ok so i updated the windows experience index score hoping that it would recognize the new hardware change. But the prob. Persisted. So the other night i added another 1 gig of ram for a total of 4gb. And all 4 gigs are being used, in the control panel>system and security>system it says installed memory (ram): 4 gb ram (3. 87 usable).

So i am fairly sure that it has recognized the added hardware change. Now after adding the 4th gig it recovers from hibernation mode just fine but when coming out of sleep mode i lose my audio device. Until i reboot or restart-lol. Anybody have any ideas besides the obvious just use hibernation mode only. Or is this a question for the toshiba forums?

High Definition Audio Device Does Not Work

I posted a question earlier - on high definitiion audio device - which is manufactured by microsoft - does not work in hp pavillion dv8330us - and they don't support it - i have the latest driver 6. 1. 7600. 1635 (7/13/2006) (i get a code 10 error message)

What can i do to make sound work ? I'm not  sure if it is a motherboard issue or a sound device issue. It is a 32 bit system - hdaudio.sys. I'm even wondering if i have to buy a new sound card to work with windows 7 on this computer - and which one would that be and the cost? A friend has a dell computer and they support the same high definition audio device and he has the exact same driver installed.

Asus P5vd2-mx Motherboard Audio Device Driver

Audio device driver required - windows 7 64-bit - asus p5vd2-mx motherboard - cpu: socket 775 - audio device "unknown". Ok, as the title says, i need the correct windows 7 64-bit driver (fyi. Asus do not have any win7 drivers for my board except for bios flashers)

Previous: new computer (to me its new, it was my brothers) worked fine for him but came with all drivers pre-installed (he also used win7 64-bit)

I formatted the drive and re-installed win7 64-bit. It showed the device as working including in the device manager, however, no matter what i did i got no sound. I tried to find drivers online and found one saying it was the win7 64-bit driver, it installed fine but had to reboot to finish the install, o nreboot it gave an error as i logged back in (cant remember what it was now) and now there is no device showing up at all anywhere not even in device manager and not even showing "unknown device"

I have been to asus website and tried the win vista 64-bit audio driver for my motherboard and it says it is not compatible.

Note: i have been through the entire faq on the asus website and they have no useful information what so ever, as with the forums.

Note: have also checked in playback devices panel and shown disabled hardware. Still nothing
I have tried using sis software "sandra-lite" and it cannot detect any audio devices

If this is a bios version problem and i have to flash it, please let me know and if possible provide a link to the correct flasher. Ive not flashed a bios since 1998.

Compaq Presario V2000 Audio Device Problem

I've scoured the threads on here and tried re-installing the realtek audio driver. I have a compaq presario v2000 laptop. Hp/compaq says that's the solution, but while it seems to install without error, it restarts and still finds no audio device to begin with.

I'm running win 7 64bit. I need to use this computer for audio production, actually, so i'm in a slightly bad situation and i am desperate for help. Remember, i already scoured the win7 audio threads on here and tried many of the suggestions, and each of them have failed. Miserably.

Asus P5ad2-e Audio Device Driver Not Properly Installed

I did a clean install of windows 7 on 2 identical computers with the asus p5ad2-e motherboard. Both have the same problem: a message "no audio output device is installed". Letting windows try to solve the problem then results in an attempt to reinstall the device driver, which fails with the message "high definition audio device has a driver problem". Nothing i tried so far (uninstalling the driver, manually installing a realtek driver for windows 7) has worked.

Microsoft Win 7 High Definition Audio Device Driver

Microsoft windows 7 high definition audio device driver wrongly swaps c sub and rl rr audio jacks. This is a really bizarre thing that is driving me up a wall. I ran windows xp media center edition 2005 on my hp m1050y and the device ran as expected for years.

Then, i upgraded to windows 7 and my rr speaker emits sounds that are supposed to come from the subwoofer.conversely, the subwoofer emits sounds that are supposed to come from the rr speaker.

I also noticed that the speakers properties dialog displays the wrong colored jacks in the jack information section. C sub should be orange and rl rr should be black. However, on this dialog the c sub is black and the rl rr jack is orange.

Rolling back to windows xp fixes the problem. Installing newer realtek drivers for windows 7 fixes that problem but makes it so that i cannot control the headphones and rear l r speaker jacks independently, and cannot hear the headphones without turning up the speakers' volume.

Hp does not offer an updated driver for this device for windows 7. I have also done a strange thing and installed and run mac os x on this machine just to test the audio and even in that os the speaker jacks work correctly, just as they did in windows xp media center edition 2005. The problem definitely is in the windows 7 version of the driver for this device. From what i have read it appears to have also been in the vista version of the driver.

Does microsoft have a hotfix available that addresses this problem? Or, is there a way to swap the jacks in the driver? The chipset is the alc880.

I do not want to manually swap the plugs and jacks as this will not work for any other os i might also boot on this machine. Installing the generic realtek driver also is not an option as i need to be able to have separate control over headphones and speaker volumes.

I need maximum interoperability between operating systems as well as independent control of front and back green audio jacks. No other operating system, including older windows operating systems, have these jacks wrong but vista and windows 7. Anyone know of a solution or of a registry tweak i can do which will swap the jacks in the driver itself?

Administrator Disabled

My administrator account was disabled and i have the same problem as rodek. The only difference is that i did not disabled administrator - i don't know how it happened. Now i am not able to make any changes to my computer.

I had administrator enabled via local security policy. After installing the programs, i disabled the administrator via cmd.exe "net user administrator /active:no". Now i want to install some additional programs and i cannot enable the administrator login because the uac settings do not allow me to turn the admin on. In the command prompt, it says "type administrator password and then click yes. " But when i type the password the "yes" button remains gray and i cannot click it, so it does not allow me to login as admin, so i'm stuck only able to login as a user, but not the admin. I know the admin password and have not forgotten it.

Keyboard Drivers Becoming Disabled

Keyboard *drivers* becoming 'disabled' (1st usb, then ps/2); show "!" In hw-lst, but win-diags find nothing wrong. This is a most peculiar problem. First my usb kbd driver went dead. At first i didn't notice it, as i was using the mouse, primarily, for input, but remember a hw-rejected sound from windows earlier upon logging in.

My keyboard wouldn't do anything. No led toggles - etc, but on another machine, fine, and on same machine 'fine' - until windows comes up, then kbd goes dead (once bios drivers are no longer driving kbd, likely).

Under keyboards, the hid keyboard driver showed a small yellow triangle with an ! In it.

After trying  reinstalling the driver (its the stock ms driver), upgrading it (no upgrades), repair ("nothing can be found wrong, maybe the driver is corrupt", but file kbd_hid.sys, checks out w/valid ms sig), i decide to hook up a ps/2 keyboard. It worked for all of maybe 20 seconds. Then a low hw reject message as win7 disconnected my ps/2 kbd! Unbelievable! Now both my hid kbd driver and the 'standard ps/2 keyboard driver show up with the yellow triangle with a "!" In it. But i can't figure out what's doing wrong with the.

I also tried system restore to day before any of this happened - no go. I figured going back further would be a waste, since the start of the problem was rather clearly defined.

I *thought* i had caused it when i tried to enter a sw policy restriction to forbid 'wisptis.exe' from executing - (the onscreen digital ink input dealy) - for two reasons - it kept getting in the way and i couldn't figure out how to get it to turn off (i wanted to use my tablet's native drivers, but wisptis was interfering and making the tablet good for nothing but digital ink (handwriting recognition as keyboard input)).

The final straw came when i was looking through my logs and found the security log (~20mb log) mostly full with security failures from wisptis.exe (i turned on monitoring of security failures, only, thinking that failures, should be rare in properly acting sw, and this software was clearly violating win7's own security policy!).

It was after i added the policy that the usb keyboard went dead.

But that policy went away from the first 'backstep' (system restore point) - but the keyboard didn't come back. After that it was downhill for the ps/2 driver. So, to be clear, the policy is not in the security panel - it was back to pre-init state (no sw policies in effect) after the 1st system restore. So that 'had' to be coincidence. But it felt oddly coincidental, that the only 'keyboad' type inputs left to use on the system were the on-screen keyboard and the digital-ink keyboard. (Mouse paths/drivers are unaffected).

Cannot Start The Service Because It Is Disabled

System: windows 7 ultimate when i want to manually install a windows update or any other program (logged on as admin) i get this message:

'cannot start the service because it is disabled or because there are no running devices connected' (approximate because my windows dlgs are in dutch). Ll actions that require admin privileges in the config panel are disabled (although i'm logged on as admin). I even cannot download new signatures for spybot search & destroy. Starting services. Msc as admin is impossible (get above mentioned message).

Running it as regular user means you cannot start/stop a service. I suspected malware but scans with sas, spybot, ms security essentials, threatfire didn't show any suspicious activity. So, i'm out of solutions. Do i have to do a repair with booting the windows dvd or will it become a reinstall.
My system partition backup is too old (i know. ).

Wireless Antenna Disabled

I have a new computer with licensed windows 7. Wifi was working fine until last night when windows automatic updates installed. This morning i cannot use wifi - it says the wireless antenna has been disabled. It also did something to my licensed kaspersky internet virus protection, but i got that recovered. I have tried system restore etc and a few other suggested fixes but nothing works. How does one enable the wireless antenna? This is really a problem coz i'm working on a short term assignment in vietnam and am losing a lot of time trying to fix this.

Aero Theme Is Disabled

Aero working then randomly disabled. Hello :)i have recently purchased windows 7 home premium. For the first week everything was great, and aero glass was working like a charm. Just today it's all of a sudden reverted back to the old school windows classic settings (the grey task bar, and bulky black writing). I've troubleshooted aero and it's told me a) current theme doesn't support aero, and b) desktop windows manager is disabled. I have checked the wei rating, and it's 4. 2, i've gone into the option where you enable desktop windows manager and stopped/started/restarted. Funnily enough i still have the option of choosing an aero screen, however whenever i do it - it'll change the screen and not the taskbar, screen windows, etc. The only changes that have been made to the screen is my mother changing the size of the text. I've searched the forums and can't seem to get a grasp of how to fix this.

Usb Mouse And Keyboard Disabled

I managed to disable mouse and keyboard somehow when working in the device manager. My computer (acer revo 3600) only has usb ports so i can't undo my changes. The usb ports and mouse&keyboard are working. They work when i'm in the bios. The usb ports are not completely shut off in windows, my usb wlan is working. I've tried this:

- Safe mode (and all other modes offered in boot)
- Plug in new (previously unconnected) mouse in safe mode and normal mode.

What can i do?! Options are quite limited when i can't change anything in windows (7 x64).

Administrator Has Disabled Teredo Locally

I think that i have tried everything that has been recommended here. Both my machines are running windows 7 professional. All appropriate boxes were checked under protocols including ipv6. I did however have some problem when uninstalling/reinstalling ipv6 protocols. When it asked me for the *. Inf file location i wasn't sure where to look. On the windows disk or my my motherboard drivers disk. Needless to say it couldn't be found on either disk does any one know the location of this file? I uninstalled the network adapters in the device manager on both computers and rebooted and everything was reinstalled but still the "teredo thing".

So i'm at a dead end. Win 7 was supposed to make everything easier so far that hasn't been true. In this day and age networking should be a no brainer with the advent of online multimedia. I have always supported microsoft but i'm wondering if i should have taken my brothers advice and gotten a mac. This shouldn't be as difficult as it is.

Usb Ports Disabled After Every Boot Up

I have been running windows 7 for a few days. Been quite happy with it. Suddenly, my usb stuff started failing. After several attempts to locate the culprit i found they had error messages in the device manager. I re-enabled the ports and presto. They all work again. Great, then i rebooted. All disabled again. I changed/unchecked the power saving mode after reading up about that and it is staying unchecked. But the ports are still disabling every time i reboot. Running a 2 year old hp pavilian. 64 bit win7 installed intel core 2 quad. 3 gig ram. 2 external dvd burners, usb keyboard, wireless mouse. Nothing special.
