Office 2003 Error - Operating System Is Not Presently Configured

Office 2003 error message: the operating system is not presently configured to run this application. My old xp computer quit and i have purchased a new new computer, hp pavilion p6210f, running windows 7. I moved the old hard drive (now drive f) containing my old programs including a legal copy of office 2003. Most of the old programs work, but when i try to load an office 2003 app, i get this error message. I can't reload office as i have moved twice in the last year and can't locate my office disks and product key (along with about 50 other program disks all in the same binder). Any suggestions?

Microsoft Office 2003 - Operating System Is Not Currently Configured

Downloaded windows 7 pro trial version (previously using xp pro); now microsoft office 2003 student version not in "all programs"; running directly from app location get "operating system is not currently configured to run. Using windows 7 professional trial download (previously had xp pro)
Microsoft office 2003 student version no longer in "all programs" on start menu running excel, word etc. Application from program file subdirectory generates "operating system is not currently configured to run this application" still have installation diskettes for office 2003, but box with product key is lost, therefor cannot re-install.

Microsoft office does not show up under control panel programs in windows 7. How do i get microsoft to work again without re-installing microsoft office? If i must re-install, how do i get lost product key for microsoft office? I have tried using compatibility wizard to no avail.

2.0 Net Framework Error - Cannot Install On A 64-bit Operating System

Neighbor purchased a dell inspron 400 (zinohd): amd athlon2850e (1. 8ghz, 512k), 3gb ddr2 sdram at 800mhz, 320gb serial ata hard drive (7200rpm), windows 7, service tag 2858hk1

He had a number of problems that i have helped him cure. But one issue remains. Each time he turns on the computer he gets a notification that he needs to load and run .net framework 2. 0. However, when he goes to the referenced site and tries to download and run the program he gets an error message stating: "error: cannot install on a 64 bit operating system. " Ignoring this message doesnt appear to adversely affect the operation of the system but he has not used the computer for long and he fears there may be issues downstream.

He is an older gentleman, not at all computer savy and has been very frustrated by this and his inability to get help from dell or microsoft. He is considering returning the product.

In an effort to help him out, i have looked into this problem through the internet. I am an experienced pc user and can normally handle most issues like this but im not yet familiar with windows 7. I understand that windows 7 includes the .net framework 3. 5. 1 as an os component. I believe this means you will get the .net framework 2. 0 sp2, 3. 0 sp2 and 3. 5 sp1 plus a few post 3. 5 sp1 bug fixes.

Thus, you don't need to manually download .net framework 2. 0 and install it on windows 7. I have run the verification tool found on the internet by searching cannot install on a 64 bit operating system " 2. 0 net framework on google to verify the existence of these .net framework versions. The all are verified successfully. How can we eliminate the initial popup notification from appearing at power-on? What am i missing?

Office 2003 Installation Error 1311

I am trying to reinstall microsoft office student and teacher edition 2003 after a full, nondestructive recovery on my pc. I run on windows xp. I am getting " error code 1311, source file not found: e: etc. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. " I don't have a clue as to what to do. I tried to search for the file and came up with "no results". I wouldn't know what to do with the results if i came up with any anyway. The installation process stopped and i am at a loss.

Information On An Operating System

What is windows automotive vs windows ce.

Is windows automotive a development platform built ontop of ce?
Is windows automotive a os all to itself but built on ce?

Pioneer's avic z110bt usb can only read up to 16 gigs of memory, except the ipod which it will read unlimited amounts of data. Is this a hardware issue with the unit? None of their previous units had this problem and this is their brand new flagship model. This system recently switched to the windows automotive 5. 5 os, all other models used windows ce. Is there anything about windows automotive that could explain this?

Operating System Not Found

We were running window server 2008, yesterday when we shut down the server everything was working find, the shut down was normal and nothing unusual happened. This morning when we start the server, the screen was black and only "operating system not found" appeared on the screen. When we reboot, entered bios setup, the disk at sata 0 was reset to "none", we tried to select "auto" and the system not able to read the disk info. We tried using system repair (setup disk) to recover but unsuccessful.

There was no way we can access to the system disk? What is happening to the disk? We did not perform anything on the disk and it was working properly yesterday. We have important data inside, hope anybody can help let us know how to resolve the operating system problem or at least recover the data from the disk. We are worried that the hard disk was permanently damaged.

Operating System Can Not Be Found

I have a sony vaio laptop (less than 2 years old) with a windows vista operating system. Every night i put it in sleep mode and leave it for the night. So, i did so last night, and this afternoon, after getting out of school, i pressed the space bar to bring it out of sleep mode. The back-light came on, but the screen stayed dark, and it started making a tapping-like sound for about 10 seconds.

After that, it went into dos mode with the message, "operating system can not be found". So i held down the power button to completely shut it off, left it off for 10 seconds or so then turned it back on. It did the same "tapping thing" then the same message appeared.

I then assumed it had crashed and i'd have to get a new operating system or something equally expensive. But about 20 minutes later, just to see, i turned it off one more time and turned it back on, and incredibly, it gave me the system recovery screen or whatever, with the different options to start it up again, then started up as usual. I have no idea what would cause it to do this and definitely don't want it to happen again. Is there anything i can/should do to prevent this?

Operating System Disappear

I installed the windows 7 upgrade from vista on saturday february 20, 2010. First off i backed everything up on to my external hard drive that was working fine until i used windows backup from my vista operating system, now it too is a brick, and i have lost all my pictures of my kids that i have backed up on there for 2. 5 years now. Now, i installed windows 7 trying to get away all the problems with vista, and its telling me after a week that no operating system is found.

I had just put some pictures on the computer from my digital camera, and i'm going to lose those too now. I want to know how to resolve this issue asap. I am not able to afford another $2000 for a new laptop, and i want my operating system that i just paid $120 dollars for to work.

Failed To Load Operating System

Windows 7 wont start, sometimes as if it's not there anymore, my cpu is an intel i7 860 with gpu nvidia gtx275 and 4gb of ram. It's pretty new and not even a year old yet. Overall it's not a bad computer. Anyway, like a week ago it started lagging some, then it got worse after a few days. The hdd light is always showing and i can hear the computer working hard as if i'm running many programs at once. But my from my task manager , i can see that the cpu speed is like lower than 5% and the ram like 30% which is normal. Sometimes the lag is gone and sometimes it's back.

When it happens, even when when i watch videos, the videos lag. Then later, my computer start restarts on its own. On one of the restart, after post , the desktop computer runschkdsk or something like that, that scans the c: drive for errors , i think, and i let it do that. And i can still go into the computer after. But it just goes downhill. The restarts became more often and the 'starting windows ' screen at start became longer and longer. After another restart, there was 2 options 'launch system recovery tools ' and 'start windows normally ' i cant remember if thats exactly what they are called.

I run system recovery tools and restart after that and i can still come back into the computer. I run myavast! Anti-virus program to check for virus but there isn't any. I have also tried to usesystem restore but there isn't any restore points created, which is unusual because there was always some restore points. After yet another restart later, i couldn't get back into the computer anymore. After post , at the screen of 'loading operating system . ', instead of going to 'starting windows ', it say something like 'failed to load operating system, insert the cd into cd/dvd drive '.

Sorry, i am not very good at recalling stuff. But i do not have the cd, windows 7 was installed in the pc before i bought it. So i reset the computer and it came up with 'windows error recovery ' and i have the 2 options 'launch system recovery tools ' and 'start windows normally ' like before, but this time after i use the first option, it just stops at a blank screen and nothing else.

I reset the computer again and i chose the second opting and it does nothing again (just stops at the blank screen). I keep trying to turn off and restart my computer several times now. After that, it will came up with one of these every time now : 1) insert cd 2) windows error recovery 3) it will go on to 'starting windows ' but blank screen after that.

Operating System Not Found At Startup

I have a samsung and a dell laptop both with win 7 if i leave the samsung for a length of time sometimes when i come back i get the error above operating system not found and have to reboot. On the dell occasionally if i leave it for sometime it has also crashed but with a completely blank screen. I think when the screen turns off this causes a crash so i have set the screen to never turn off in power settings. Too early to tell if this is the cause but i don't think it's a hardware issue.

Win 7 Will Not Boot - Operating System Not Found

I installed windows 7 on october 27, 2009 (previously had vista) and it was working great. Then about three days after christmas my computer froze and said, "operating system not found. " I then proceeded to take the my computer to where i had initially purchased it, bestbuy. After there geek squad looked at it they informed me that in all likelihood i had a bad motherboard. I purchased a new laptop from them and had them back up my old files onto my portable hdd and was on my way. I then decided that i might as well see if there was anything that i could do to get the old laptop working. I called hp (the manufacturer of my old laptop) and was told that it could possibly be the sata ii connection on my motherboard that was bad.

So, i got an enclosure for the old hdd and plugged it into the usb port on the old laptop. I went into the boot order and set it up to run the usb hard drive first and it would actually get to the windows loading screen! But that was as far as i could get. It would then go to a blue error screen 0x0000007b, telling me to check for viruses and such. I then tried to run system recovery and it was unable to repair it. This is what it told me:

I have tried to run the windows 7 upgrade disc but to no avail either. I would really like to save my old computer if i can but i don't know what else to do. Please help me!

Cannot Get Updates For Office 2003

After hours of talking on the phone i turn to these forums for help. I have windows 7 x64 professional with all the current updates. I also have ms office 2003. While i'm able to receive and update the os, i get no prompt or suggested updates for office 2003. Starting office 2003 and then clicking on "help/check for updates" does nothing. Interesting going to "control panel/system and security/windows update" and then clicking "get updates for other microsoft products. Find out more" also does nothing. My question: i exclusively use firefox and i'm wondering if ie is required to enable these functions? Currently i have ie disabled and not installed.

Downgrade To Office 2003

I still have 2003 office and professional software, i bought a new computer hp (my old one died - toshiba w/xp). It came with windows 7 home premium. Not knowing, i installed my 2003 office, but it didn't take the professional. Now it is not compatible with software and or hardware, now what. I don't have the money to upgrade everything, i just want my new computer to work. Now i can not open pdfs even though i installed my adobe professional 8. & Reader.

I am starting to immediately not like windows 7 and i want out! I have my disk to make my computer work with 2003 office professional but not with windows 7 installed. I can't use my hp printer that is working great with my other xp computer going through apple airport express as a print server so i don't want to change everything for windows 7.

What are my options that won't cost me any money. I do not want to pay to upgrade to windows 7 professional so i can download something else to make my other things work.

Here are some items that pop up: adobe acrobat: cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser. Reader will now exit. Please exit your browser and try again.

Microsoft office xp professional: the feature you are trying to use is on a cd-rom or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the microsoft office xp professional disk and click ok, and when i do, it basically says it won't except because there is a higher version.

Also pops up: the office assistant requires microsoft agent 2. 0 or later. This product is available on the office system pack.

Microsoft Office Outlook 2003

Running windows xp media center edition 2005. I have office 2003 professional. Today, 7 june 09, apparently there were a lot of updates not only to xp but office as well. The .net and silverlight was just a couple of them. Anyway, after that, i rebooted as instructed but now i get an error when i try and reply to someone that has sent me an email. It states :  "the message interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists try restarting outlook. "

I have restarted outlook 2003 several times and i get the same error. I haven't changed my email account or anything (it seems) that would cause it not to operate properly as it had for the last year. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Office 2003 Installation Issue

I am running ms vista with sp2 and when i try to use office 2003 office 2007 tries to install, the computer came with a trial addition for office 2007 i have uninstalled 2007, i have office 2003 installed and when i try to update it i get a response to update 2007 instead. And every time i go to ms update it gives me updates for office 2007.

This is getting very frustrating to say the least, i feel if ms is tying to cram office 2007 down my through they should give it to me at no charge or quit the! With all the problems the ms operating systems cause i am seriously thinking about changing to mac, another plus with mac is i won't have to worry about viruses. I am an advanced computer user and i have never had so much trouble an operating system as i have with windows, even linux responds better, for all the money windows costs it should be perfect by now!

Install Different Office Assistants In 2003

I lost my choice of office assistants (office 2003) when i got my new computer with windows 7. The same thing happened when i got vista. I found a knowledgeable tech at hp and it was a simple matter of installing the correct command prompts which were easily downloaded from microsoft agent and it worked great. I could choose my office assistant, instead of just having "clip-it" and nothing else. I made a copy of the correct prompts; unfortunately, may old laptop with vista crashed and the hard drive was replaced. I lost my notes.

Does anybody know how to get the command prompts from microsoft agent to install the different office assistants in '03.

Install Office 2003 Pro

I just upgraded (got a new) laptop with win7 home premium 64bit, pre-installed. No e-mail. I do have a license for office pro 2003. I installed said office product, mostly it works. But when i try to set up my e-mail accounts i get an error message "the operation failed due to a registry or installation problem. Restart outlook and try again. If the problem persists, please reinstall"
I had read in one of these forums that office 2003 does work in win 7, but i failed to mark that spot.

Office 2003 Application Crashes

All, we're rolling out numerous desktop and laptop pcs /w win7 enterprise x74 (mostly new dell stuff) and with office 2003. (Upgrade is not an option at this time as we're a >5000 employees company)we're experiencing some strange appcrashes lately like in word 2003 when using it as e-mail editor in outlook. As soon as we close outlook, word crashes . This happens every time, so it's predictably. Starting outlook in safe mode w/o extensions didn't help. When word is open /w another document (from local disk or server share) then outlook can be started and stopped w/o any issues - so word only crashes if it's started with and stopped with outlook.

Another strange thing is excel dying in an appcrash randomly especially when using the clipboard to paste stuff into a cell. This is not predictable because we don't exactly know which action actually causes the behavior. This happens to fresh installations which are patched to the maximum available level (sp3 including all following patches).

Unable To Reinstall Office 2003

Unable to (re)install office 2003 after repeated failure of security updates to office 2003. The security updates to office 2003 on my xp (sp3) kept failing all of last week. I contacted ms pc security support by phone and i was transferred from office setup dept to security update dept to customer service. And none of them had any idea of what the problem is. I lost patience with ms support. I followed others' technique posted on the web for same issue and tried to uninstall office 2003 and re-install. However my new office 2003 installation encounters the following error (same error i got when i tried to apply the security updates)

"Error 2932: an internal error occured.

(C:windowsinstaller{91e30409-6000-11d3-8cfe-0150048383c9)graph. Ico 131 )
Contact microsoft product support services (pss) for assistance. "

After the installer rolls-back all installs. Now i am left with no office 2003 (i tried office 2007 install with the same result). I would really appreciate if ms support engineer or other users can help with a fix for this. My desktop is hp pavilion pc running xp (sp3).
