Win 7 Ultimate Upgrade Fails

I just purchased a windows 7 ultimate oem upgrade disc. When i attempted the install on my hp laptop (vista ultimate home premium), the upgrade was proceeding well until the very last restart when i got the message the upgrade was not successful and the original version was going to be reinstalled (vista). Then the upgrade got stuck in a loop between this windows 7 error screen and restart. I even tried shutting down my laptop, but when it came back up it returned to the error screen/restart loop?

Win 7 Ultimate Upgrade From Vista Ultimate

Purchased windows 7 ultimate upgrade package since i have windows vista ultimate on my laptop. Purchased it online and after it was ordered, and before it was delivered, my @$*_$&_ hard drive failed. I cannot find the vista software that was preinstalled on the laptop now. Will the upgrade package work the same as a full installation? I really don't want to reinstall vista at all and then have to upgrade. Not to mention i don't want to tear my house apart looking for the vista disk if i don't need it.

Upgrade To Ultimate From Professional

I had a copy of vista 32-bit, which was upgraded to windows 7 ultimate 64-bit (through vista x64 install disk that came with brother's pc), until i had a hard drive failure and am back to square one. I have now installed 64-bit windows 7 professional, again through a family member's install disk that came with his pc. This version, obviously, does not activate, however i was hoping to use anytime upgrade, and my product key to upgrade this to windows 7 ultimate.

Any suggestions?

Best Way To Upgrade To Win 7 Ultimate

Before vista 7 came out, i purchased windows vista ultimate from my local electronics superstore and it cost me a whopping 300 euros. I found that vista is absolutely rubbish and is ridden with bugs that have never been fixed in any upgrades.

The place i purchased vista from mentioned that i have 5 licenses with this software. I use this windows vista ultimate on 5 computers and it has worked fine for the last year. I know want to upgrade to windows 7 ultimate but i am being told it only works on 1 pc. Is this true?

I already feel like ive been ripped off and i shouldn't have to pay for windows 7 because vista is so bad and ive had it such a short time. I know intend to start a business where i could need windows 7 to work on maybe 20 pcs. What is the best way for me to purchase this at a good price. I´m dammed if i´m going to pay 300 euro for windows again.

Upgrade From Home Basic To Ultimate

I will be ordering a custom hp dv8t soon, and it will come with windows 7 home premium. I can purchase 7 ultimate for about 100 bucks after academic discount, so it would be cheaper than spending 200 bucks getting ultimate pre-installed. I was wondering if it comes with 7 home premium, can i purchase 7 ultimate and do an in place upgrade, or is a fresh install mandatory for this?I was thinking, maybe after i purchase 7 ultimate, go into windows anytime upgrade, would i be able to enter the key off of 7 ultimate i purchased from academic superstore and upgrade in place?

Upgrade Japanese Edition To Ultimate

I live in japan, i bought a new pc earlier this year with a pre-installed 'japanese 32 bit copy of windows 7 home premium' and i want to run 'windows 7 ultimate' - my japanese isn't good enough to understand all the windows 7 options.

I've been trying to use the upgrade anytime function - which apparently is available in japan - but for some reason it doesn't let me even look at purchasing an upgrade.

Where can i buy an upgrade? Can i buy an upgrade from another country? Do i have to buy a japanese upgrade? Will my japanese software run in a windows 7 ultimate where english is chosen as the main language?

Home Premium To Ultimate Upgrade

My questions is about upgrading windows 7 home premium to windows 7 ultimate. At his moment im using windows 7 home premium, but im thinking of upgrading to windows 7 ultimate. But im not sure wich version of ultimate i need to do this. I was thinking of buying the full version of ultimate because when i need to reinstall windows later, only this disk will be sufficient.

Later i noticed that there is an upgrade version of windows 7 ultimate, but its available at the same price as the full version.

So basically, i want to know if i can upgrade windows 7 home premium to windows 7 ultimate using the full version of windows ultimate, or do i need the upgarde version?

How To Upgrade From Home Premium To Ultimate?

Is there someone out there who can help me with this problem as i am going round the twist. Okay here goes, are you sitting comfortably then i shall begin. I bought a new computer and it had o/s win7 home premium set up on it and the disk etc. Was with it, i wanted to upgrade to ultimate but was put off by the price, i heard of this site that was software4students and when i got on it was able to buy the upgrade at a much reduced price, anyway i have tried to upgrade but have failed because it asks me for a key to activate it but i have only the product key, it tells me that i have to do a clean upgrade not a custom one, i bought it because i could do a custom upgrade as i am not in the slightest pc wise or a tecky at computer work, i can do the usual stuff but the ultimate upgrade is sat on my shelf and after trying to contact software4students and getting nowhere then microsoft, who wanted £45 to a question, i don't think so, i am left with a feeling that i have been conned as i have very little money and it took an age for me to afford the upgrade as i cannot work due to being disabled, a clean upgrade means i have to clear my pc and do the upgrade but it will come to nothing as i will be asked for the upgrade key and i do not have it so any help will be so very welcome. One thing please keep it very basic and simple as i am not very pc wise and able to do programming stuff, hope someone can help as i would like to get this up and running.

Vista To Win7 Ultimate Upgrade Fail

I'm attempting to do an on-line upgrade from vista ultimate to windows 7 ultimate. The procedure took forever, and finally got to 83% of the final stage. The system went through another re-start and failed. It stated it is dumping physical memory to disk; attempts to restart; fails again and offers to restart in safe mode. I've tried to restart in normal and safe mode without success. It continues to loop through this and will not reset to either vista or win 7. Advice?

Anytime Upgrade From Home Premium To Ultimate

I have windows 7 home premium in spanish installed in my computer. I do not speak spanish, so i would like to change the language to english. For this purpose, i would like to upgrade my os to windows 7 ultimate. I have 2 questions:1. Are windows 7 "anytime upgrade" packages language specific (i.e. In order to upgrade my windows 7 home premium spanish, do i need to purchase spanish version of anytime upgrade package)? If yes, where can i find it in us?2. Anytime upgrade packages are not released in my country yet. I will travel to us next week, so i plan to purchase a package there. Can i install the package when i return back to my country? Or, will it check my ip and tell that i am not in us so cannot upgrade.

Vista Upgrade To Win 7 Ultimate Won't Install

I am on my third attempt to upgrade vista ultimate to windows 7 ultimate. I get through most of the install process (transferring files, settings, and programs) and then it fails and says my system cannot be upgraded. The system advisor does not find any issues before i start the install. The upgrade takes nearly 2 hours to complete before it fails which seems unusual based on all the other install times i have read about. I purchased the windows 7 ultimate upgrade as it was the only upgrade option for windows vista ultimate. I realize i could do a clean install but i would prefer to do the upgrade. The software is sold as being able to do this.system specifications dell laptop gen 2, 320 gb hd (200gb free), 2 gig ram. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Upgrade From Vista Fails At 20%

I purchased the win 7 upgrade (home premium). I'm running vista on my 2 years old hp laptop.

I have opted for the custom install to clean up. I've saved all the docs/pics/mp3 etc and i have the programs i need to reinstall. I've uninstalled my anti-virus as it seemed reluctant to turn off.

I then ran the installation. When i reached the second stage of expanding windows files it throws up the following

"Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install windows, restart the installation"

I've tried this 3 times and same thing happens at 20% of the same stage every time.

I think i need to post an error log but i searched for and could not find what i needed.

I would appreciate any help.

Upgrade Fails At Transferring Files At 60%

I have a toshiba satellite m305d-s4829 laptop. I tried running the upgrade exe. Fails. I can't really catch the error message but it goes to a blue screen, and all i see is the word memory on the screen. This happened like 3 times. I read around on here, and it seems drivers can affect the upgrade process. I go to the toshiba website and download the toshiba upgrade assistant. I run it. It's automated. Does some downloads, uninstalls somethings, and prompts me to run the windows 7 iso.cool.

The upgrade gets around the same point and fails for the fourth time. What gives? I apologize for not being more specific on the error message. It clears from the screen very quickly and sometimes i even miss it. Any help is much appreciated. I rather not clean install. I have many audio production programs and i rather not have to spend days getting my stuff back in working order.

Network Printer Install Fails After Upgrade

After upgrading from 64 bit vista home premium to 64 bit win 7 home premium the software and driver for my hp photosmart c6380 printer starts to install but fails to configure the device for an ethernet connection therefore fails to complete.

After five hours on the phone, yesterday, with a valiant effort but no success i'm left with a printer that can print but has none of the extra capabilities (ink level, scan, etc) and no answers.

Q1) is this a problem with their install software, configuration software, or something that went wrong with the upgrade (no errors were reported and everything appears to have completed successfully).

Q2) am i stuck with restoring vista, live with it, or buy and install the full release of windows 7?

The printer works as advertised on anotherwindows 7system in the network.

Sony Vaio Pcv-rx860 Upgrade From Xp To Win7 Fails

My computer details are as follows:

Computer: sony vaio pcv-rx860 (2. 4ghz, 1. 5gb ram); no major complaints from upgrade advisor
I cloned my original hd and installed the clone and restarted machine (with win xp sp3); everything came back fine.

Inserted 32-bit win 7 upgrade disk and things were ok until it went to the "completing installation" step at which point it asked to restart. Now upon restart it doesn't recognize my hd anymore and is in an infinite boot loop). Changed bios to boot off win 7 cd/dvd and it takes me back to install. How to get out of this?

Standard Dual Channel Pci Ide Controller Driver Upgrade Fails

I am trying to upgrade my vista ultimate 32-bit to windows 7 ultimate 32-bit. The upgrade advisor showed no issues except for itunes (which i ignore). After starting the installation i get the following message from the compatibility check and the installation aborts: the following issues are preventing windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.

For these items, make the following changes: install updated drivers for the following devices. Open control panel and search for "update device drivers". Ide ata/atapi controllers: standard dual channel pci ide controller. I tried to find a driver but no luck. Can you advise on how i need to proceed. I currently have the microsoft driver v 6. 0. 6001. 18000 dated 21/06/2006 installed

Device Driver Upgrade "search Automatically" Option Fails

I guess i am truly testing the capabilities of windows 7 as i am running it off an old, slow desktop pc, and my internet access (due to overuse) has been cut down to 64kbps (8bkps)! (And it's fast! The shut-down/re-boot time is amazingly quicker than even xp. )

Having said that, i have done this many times with windows xp and vista, i install windows, then connect up a usb wi-fi dongle, and access the internet through that. I then right-click on my other devices/ethernet controller (for which a driver has not automatically been installed), and select update driver software. It's worked without a problem - on xp and vista.

I've done the same now with win7-rc, and am surfing the internet without a problem (if a little slowly). However the option "search automatically for updated driver software" takes but ½ a second to respond with an "windows could not find driver software for your device" error. It does not appear to even check the (fully working, but slow) internet at all.

The previous screen did say, "windows will search your computer and the internet for the latest driver software for your device, unless you've disabled this feature in your device installation settings. " This is a fresh install, and i have not knowingly set any such option (with xp there used to be an "always check internet/check internet this time only" choice).

Is this a time-out issue (½ a second?) Or some other pre-release bug? Before anyone says, yes i could download the drivers onto the c: drive and point the upgrade driver app to there, but that is not the goal of this; also some people may be using win7 via dial up modem access.

Once again i got to the last stage (completing installation. ) And once again my cursor froze up with no cpu activity. I waited 3 hours to no avail.could this be a corrupt pre-ordered dvd? If so, who can i contact to remedy this situation?

Upgrade Ultimate 32-bit To 64-bit

How do i upgrade my windows 7 ultimate to 64-bits. Would i lose my files? Or requires me to reinstall microsoft office or other programs? I had a vista ultimate and i brought an oem windows 7 ultimate. I have successfully installed it without any loss of data or program. However, when using my hawaii e-180, it was causing so much problems and i discovered the incompatibility. I had a problem using hawaii e-180 which do not have a 32-bits driver. However, microsoft has a driver for it but it is 64-bits. Basically i want to upgrade to 64-bits since my laptop is capable and to use the 3g modem for my mobile internet.

Ultimate Licenses

I am looking to upgrade to win 7 ultimate 64 bit, but here is my problem. After buying win 95, 98, me, xp (several copies) and vista(several copies) bill gates can just kiss my  big fat a**. I am not going to cough up $199 bucks a pop to upgrade 3 desktops and 1 laptop. He made enough off me on vista that he is lucky he does not get sued for coming out with another os this soon.

So here is the crust of the biscuit. There are several people selling licenses for win 7 ultimate on ebay for less than $50 buck a pop.

Installation media is around the same price. So what gives with this? Is it possible to install win 7 and get it activated for less than a $100 bucks. I am using the rc of win 7 and kinda like it but $800 bucks not a chance.

Anyone tried to go the cheap route and have any success?

Ultimate Reinstallation

I recently replacement the hd in my computer and obviously had to reinstall my os. I tried activating it during install and it wouldn't accept the product key. I skipped the step so i could complete installation. I tried to active and received the following error: the following failure occurred while trying to use the product key: code: 0xc004f061  description: the software licensing service determined that this specific product key can only be used for upgrading, not for clean installations. What the heck do i do now?

Reinstall Vista Ultimate

Because win 7 is computer specific, i can't run it on my laptop and desktop both (i only could afford and bought one copy). I installed it on both because the initial upgrade on my desktop didn't work (monitor problems). It is now working on the desktop, but i'll have to go back to win vista ult on my laptop (because of license req. When i register the desktop copy). How can i reinstall win vista ult on my desktop without losing everything (doing a custom install; can't do an upgrade)?

Ultimate 64-bit Bsod

I have a self-built system. Evga mb with intel i7 (lastest bios updates installed). 12gb ram (mem tested ok), dual ati radeon (diamond) 4670 1gb video (crossfire currently disabled, latest drivers installed).

This is a recent install, upgraded from vista ultimate 64-bit. Sometimes it stays up for a while, other times only seconds after a restart. But i've been getting pretty constant bsod's for the last few weeks. I've been researching it trying to determine if all my drivers are up to date, and it appears that they are. I ran a memory test and that came out ok. This is becoming more and more frustrating.
