Flash Drive Is Recognized Then Disappears

I bought a lexar twistturn flash drive in december. It has functioned wonderfully with windows xp and vista, but my computer with windows 7 on it has given me problems. The computer is a compaq that came with windows 7 pre-installed. When i plug the flash drive into any of the usb ports, it is recognized and autoplay starts, but about ten seconds after the autoplay window opens, it closes and the flash drive is no longer recognized. This continues in a cycle for as long as i leave
The flash drive plugged in.

I have googled this problem to death, and have found no solution. I also contacted lexar tech support and was told that the problem is likely being caused by the pre-installed drivers. I have checked that my the os is up to date (it is), as well as trying to find drivers to re-install on the manufacturer's website. They may be there somewhere, but i have been unable to find them.
I'm pretty much at the end of my rope with this problem: please help?

Usb Flash Drive Driver Install Failed / Not Recognized

I plugged in a flash drive to my laptop the other day and i got the plug and play message, it downloaded the driver but the installation failed. Now windows 7 will not even recognize that the flash drive is plugged in or try to install the driver again. The flash drive still works on my main computer just fine and other usb devices including other flash drivers work just fine on this laptop. Device manager and computer management under administrative tools do not register it as being plugged in either.

I could not find a way to check if maybe the driver did install and was corrupted. Is there anything i can do?

Usb Flash Drive Error - Volume Does Not Contain Recognized File System

I plugged in my usb flash drive into a computer using windows 7. It always prompts me to scan and fix or cancel. I canceled every time, but i got annoyed with it popping up every time, so i told it to scan and fix. A loading screen came up so i patiently waited. After completion it asks to format my usb flash drive. I can't format it though because i have homework files and all my other personal files on there. So i canceled the format, but every time i plug it into my computer it asks t format it. I even plugged it into a computer running on windows xp and it wanted to format it.

When i try to run it without formatting it it says, "e: is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted. " My question is, what did windows 7 do to my flash drive and how do i recover my data?

Usb Flash Drive - Usb Device Is Not Recognized

I have tried 4 different usb flash drives from different manufacturers and my usb hard drive from western digital. Windows 7 recognizes it until i start transferring files. Then it can't find the drive. When i unplug it and plug it back in, i get a notification that the usb device is not recognized. After i restart the computer, it does the same thing all over again. I ran vista before windows 7 and never had this problem. I am very frustrated. I must have access to my flash & external drives or windows 7 is useless to me.

Cd/dvd Drive Disappears / Reappears

I seldom shut my pc down, usually put it to sleep. I'm running windows 7 - 64 bit on a gateway pc. Since installing win7, my dvd drive often does not show up on "my computer". I have to reboot, sometime a couple of times, in order to get it to show up again. The drive may show up and, when the pc comes back from sleep, it's gone. I read a couple of other posts about this that sounded
A bit different, i will appreciate knowing how to fix this issue other than having to reboot.

Dvd Drive Disappears From My Computer After Sleep

On windows 7, running on an hp pavilion p6020a desktop pc, after waking from 'sleep', my dvd drive no longer appears (disappears from) 'my computer'. The drive still opens/closes, but will not launch autorun or be accessed via explorer or a command prompt.

I have already removed the upper/lower value registry items when running vista (and they are no longer appearing when viewed with regedit either).

Usb Flash Hard Drives Not Recognized

Since purchasing my computer, i've been able to use the various usb drives for other hardware such as wireless internet, hauppage tv reception, and wireless mouse/keyboard. However, any attempt at reading an external flash drive (then larger external hard drive) on all of the ports the drive is not successful. The drive appears in the device manager and is appropriately named, it is also listed in the disk management window as disc 5 (underneath the various sd drive ports and whatnot-one of which appears to be assigned the name of usb external hard drive when in fact it is not).

Upon attempt to reassign a drive path/letter the message appears that "disk management console view not up to date", but restarting does no good. Dell support is not supportive and claim it is a software problem because the ports work for other devices.

Before having this problem in bios the dvd rom was appearing as pioneer nr. As the name of the dvd rom is. I forgot to tell you that i'm using a laptop acer 5520g. One Hard Drive Not Recognized

I have 3 drives in the following configuration before installing win 7 rc:

  1. 120gb drive with xp 64 sp2 (used as a c drive)
  2. 120gb drive with vista 64 (used as d drive)
  3. 320gb drive used between them for data (used as e drive). Both oss could see the 320gb drive.

Did a clean win 7 rc install on the vista drive (replacing vista and all). Now, i can not see the "e" data drive when booted in win 7, but when i do a defrag, the defrag program (from accessories) sees the drive though not as a drive letter. Xp64 can still utilize the data drive as well. Please let me know what specific info i need to share with you if necc.

Optical Drive Is Not Being Recognized

I can see it in the bios and everything appears normal. It is visible in windows but only in the drive properties and it has a yellow exclamation mark. The device status says the following: "windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)" error message: code 52

I've tried deleting the drivers then reinstalling them upon restarting my computer, but the same thing happens every time. I don't know of anything that i have changed recently that could have caused this.

Usb Drive Not Recognized After Reboot

I have a windows 7 64-bit system. I connected my maxtor 500gb usb drive while the pc was on and it recognized the drive using the default windows driver. Seagate, which owns maxtor, does not have a 64 bit driver for this drive. Seagate and microsoft say the drive should work with the windows driver. It was working beautifully.

Then i re-booted my system. Upon windows re-start, the drive came up as "usb device not recognized". In device manager it is a yellow icon next to "unknown device". I removed the usb cable and re-plugged it to no avail. I then removed the drive's power cord and plugged it back in. The drive was instantly recognized again.

What is happening on a re-boot to mess up the usb connection? How can this be resolved? I don't want to have to pull the power cord on every re-boot.

Floppy Drive Or Disk Not Recognized

Windows7 ultimate (64 bits) does not recognize a usb-connected floppy drive or disk that works fine with windows xp and, before i installed windows7, that used to work with vista ultimate (64 bits). I can plug this teac drive into another machine, a notebook running windows xp, and there is no problem-i see the six .doc files on the diskette, and i can open all of them. But when the same drive (with the same 3. 5" floppy diskette) is plugged into the window7 machine, i am told to insert the diskette, which is never read.

A speedometer for computer slowly proceeds across the top of the screen, but nothing happens. No matter what i do, i see: "please insert a disk into floppy disk drive (a)". Rebooting does not help. And canceling and reinsertion of the diskette changes nothing. Launching word and then trying to open the files from word's open gets me nowhere. Disabling my anti-virus software changes nothing.

Windows tells me that the floppy drive is installed; i see it listed by name (teac drive) in device manager; and from device manager i have tried deleting the driver for this teac drive-windows then reinstalls it. I also tried to update this drive from device manager, but then i am told: "windows has determined that the driver software for your device is up to date". Please help.

Dvd Drive Not Recognized Unless Scan For Hardware Changes

I have 2 ide optical drives in my desktop, a sony ddu1612 dvd-rom (cable select in the slave position), and a pioneer dvr-116d dvd-rw (cable select in the master position).

These worked great until i installed windows 7, and actually still work great. The only problem is that each time the computer is booted, the pioneer will not show up until i go into device manager, under dvd/cd-rom drives and "scan for hardware changes" (the sony is always recognized as it should be) - then everything works fine, until i reboot the system.

Is there a permanent way to fix this so that both devices are automatically recognized each boot?

Ide Hard Drive (usb 2.0) Not Recognized At Computer Startup

Ide hard drive in external enclosure (usb 2. 0) not recognized by windows 7 at computer startup, but recognized if it is rebooted after windows 7 is done loading. I have a western digital 500gb pata (ide) hard drive in an enclosure. I leave the enclosure on at all times since it has a cooling fan.

However, if for whatever reason i need to reboot my system, windows 7 never recognizes this drive unless i turn off and on my enclosure. Once i reboot my enclosure, windows 7 recognizes the drive and tries to autoplay. I would like w7 to recognize my drive at startup so that i don't have to reboot my enclosure every time i reboot my computer. What can i do to fix this?

Windows 7 will not recognize flash drive, sees it as disk drive. How do i get win 7 to recognize my flash drive for what it is and allow me to use it? Whenever i try to open it in my computer it tells me there is no disc in the drive. Disk manager list it as a usb drive. Win 7 says flash drive is a disk drive in my computer. Usb Fails / Disappears From Explorer And Cannot Be Reconnected

I have just installed the formal release, having played with the release candidate for several months. I had, and still have a problem with usb. When trying to copy to a usb disk, the system hangs after a very short time. The usb device in question disappears from windows explorer and cannot be reconnected. Switching to a different usb port results in the system failing to load a driver for the device saying it is not recognized.

The only option is a close down and reboot. As well as usb disks, i have this problem with an archos mp4 and an ipod. It makes the system quite unusable i'm afraid. I'm running on an intel quad system and apart from the above, and a missing co-processor driver, everything seems ok.

Minimize, Maximize And Close Button Disappears

For some reason the minimize, maximize and close buttons disappear on top of my windows. This is so for all applications. The buttons are not visible, but they still work. For instance, if i click in the top right corner of the application, the application will close.

I don't know what causing this. Sometimes it happens just after i started my pc. Sometimes it doesn't occur for over an hour. I've tried to detect the reason, but i wasn't able.

I've surfed the internet trying to find a solution, but couldn't find anything that works (they speak of nvidia drivers often, but there isn't a nvidia driver in my laptop. ) Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Window Pane Issues - Mouse Disappears Into Background

Window pane issues: whenever i have multiple windows open & i move the mouse outside the window pane i am working with, it disappears into the background. Have recently upgraded to windows 7 from vista, and all is well apart from a minor issue regarding the window panes. Basically, whenever i have multiple windows open & i move the mouse outside the window pane i am working with, it disappears into the background & one of the other window pane's i have open appears instead.

This can be very frustrating especially when i am trying to use the customize box in the bottom right hand corner, as when i click the small arrow the box appears but when i move the mouse towards it, it disappears. Before, whenever i wanted to work on a particular window, i would move the mouse to the relevant window, click on it & all would be fine.

Now, whenever i move the mouse outside of the pane it moves to behind another window that is open. I now can only work with one window open! I'm sure this is probably a minor setting i need to adjust, but i just cannot find where in the settings.

Bsod When I Plug Flash Drive In

On three different windows 7 computers (two of the computers the hard drives were wiped clean of xp by windows 7 home premium upgrade 32-bit, the other a new laptop shipped with windows 7 home premium 64-bit pre-installed) when i plug either of the two flash drives i have, sometimes i will get a bsod for a couple seconds and then it reboots. Not even half the time, but i always wonder each time i put one in, will it happen this time?  If i leave the flash drive in while it reboots, there is no problem using it once i get back to the desktop. I uploaded the 3 mindumps that are on this computer to http://tinyurl.com/ye4zcm2 .

I know the file 020410-28392-01.dmp is from when i plugged a flash drive in, but the other two probably were too, so i uploaded all three. I tried using the debugging tools from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263 but either it's not working right because i couldn't find a c:windowsi386 folder and didn't find i386 on the windows 7 dvd (though i suppose there's one on the xp disk) or i just don't get what it's telling me.

Flash Drive / Sd Card Removal

Windows 7 professional 64bit - after i use a flash drive or sd card and remove it, i get a message when i log off my user acct "logon ui.exe - no disk - please insert a disk into drive deviceharddisk5dr5. Now i am getting the messages even after new boot. I have to click the cancel button around 3 times as the message box appears and then my logon screen appears. I then log on and everything is normal until i log off and i get the message box again - even though i have not used a flash-drive or sd card.
