Detect And Determine If There Are Drivers For Win7?

I purchased a new intel i-7 computer that came witn windows vista. When the windows 7 program came out i ordered the program from microsoft. When offered the choices i just ordered the professional option since i want to upgrade to the 64 bit version for adobe photoshop. I tried the upgrade and found i could not upgrade because the computer came with vista ultimate ultimate. What are my options to complete this upgrade?  Is there a program that will detect my existing and determine if there are drivers for windows 7?

How To Determine Dpi Of Png Image In Explorer?

In windows xp and vista, to determine the dpi of a png image, i could right-click, go to properties, then the summary tab, and there were entries for horizontal resolution and vertical resolution of the png along with the width, height, and bit depth.

However, in windows 7, when i go to the properties, i only see width, height, and bit depth. For jpg's i also see the dpi, but not for png's.

Is there an additional setting i need to turn on? Is there somewhere else i should be looking to find the dpi information?

Kworld Usb Tv Tuner - Unable To Determine Tv Signal Configuration

Kworld 399u usb tv tuner "unable to determine tv signal configuration" windows 7 media center (64 bit) i have just upgraded my 64 bit vista machine to windows 7 and am no longer able to use my kworld 399u usb tv tuner in media center.

It worked fine under vista, however after upgrading i was asked to set up my tv signals again. After media center runs "examining tv signals" for several minutes, it displays the message "windows media center is unable to determine your tv signal configuration".

I have tried downloading and installing the latest windows 7 drivers from http://uk., but this does not make a difference.

I rolled my machine back to windows vista and the tuner works perfectly again, even after installing the latest drivers.

Update Causing Several Problem

I updated my windows 7 rc build 7100 yesterday for the first time since mid-november. The reason i waited so long for this was because last time i updated windows, i had the same problems as i am experiencing now. The downloading and installing of the updates goes fine, but when i restart the computer, it takes 5+ minutes to take me to the desktop after entering my user information. When the computer finally starts up, aero is disabled.

During my first log-in after the update, all the programs i had pinned to the taskbar disappeared, and i had desktop icons on my screen which hadn't been there in a few months at least. When starting up any web browser, all my favorites are gone, as well as any customization. I can't start up windows messenger because i get error code 84cc0020. Restarting the computer restored the icons to the taskbar, but the lack of aero persisted. After using system restore to go to a point before the update, all that changes is that i no longer have the updates installed, while all the other problems remain.

Drivers Causing Multiple Bsod

In addition to this issue, i also get "windows explorer" (explorer.exe) and sometimes " internet explorer" (iexplorer.exe) "has stop working errors" and whenever i watch tv (be it clear qam, ota or analog cable) it goes bsod after about 3 minutes. All my devices/latest drivers are recognized by 7 rtm (ultimate) based from the device manager window and their properties and i have all the updates including the latest installed. I am running out of ideas and is getting ready to go back to xp unless someone here can help me figure this out. By the way, playing mp3's also crashes my system.

Updates Causing Screen Cutoffs

Recently i installed 17 updates and after the computer rebooted (and updated some registry files) my screen had been resized to not display ~2 inches from both sides. It shows everything but just doesn't use the whole monitor. I tried changing the resolution but many resolutions were out of range (when they weren't before).

Some of my system specs:nvidia 9800 gt graphics card asus m3n78-vm motherboard amd athon ii x2 245 processor via high definition audio card westinghouse lcm 22w3 monitor (22") i have installed nvidia driver version 258. 96 from either 197. 45 or 15. 49 (not sure which), with the only noticeable change being that now i can change my resolution to 1600x900 on the nvidia control panel and it changes the resolution but chops off the same amount of area (therefore not letting me see the left or right-hand 2 inches of the screen, including the start button or time). Changing the resolution through the windows screen resolution window still gives me "out of range. "I have checked for bios drivers and mine are up to date.

Flash Causing Internet Browsers To Hang

This has been an ongoing issue and i am so sick of it. Flash content is constantly causing any internet browser i use to hang. My main browser is firefox. It mostly happens with flash video like on youtube. Sometimes it works fine for a while and then all of a sudden when i go to play a new video the browser will hang. When the browser hangs i will no longer be able to watch videos unless the computer is restarted. When the browser hangs it also affects windows too.

I can't even play videos on wmp, it would hang too. It only happens if the browser was hanged. I always get the hang errors when it happens in firefox but i have no idea how to use them. I have made dump files too when it happens but i do not have a clue how to use them. (Something about signature files or something)

Urlmon.dll Causing Programs To Crash

Since installing cumulative security update for internet explorer 8 for windows 7 for x64-based systems (kb978207) about a week ago (or shortly after then) i started having problems with lots of programs crashing or refusing to start all all. All of the ones that give a meaningful crash report pinpoint urlmon.dll as the source of the problem. This only seems to be affecting the 32-bit version of urlmon.dll (in the syswow64 folder), since i can run ie 64-bit just fine. I can only assume that the file somehow got corrupted during the process of installing the update.

How can i revert the installed update? It's not showing up in the view installed updates window. Failing that, (or if it turns out that's not the cause of the problem) how can i get a clean copy of the file from my install cds? I tried booting up the cd and getting a recovery console, but using the 64-bit cd the syswow64 folder was pretty much empty (stands to reason), and using the 32-bit cd it wouldn't give me a console at all (on account of this being a 64-bit install).

If anyone has any ideas, that'd be grand. I tried sfc /scannow, and that confirmed that there is a problem in urlmon.dll, but it said it was unable to repair the file. I'd rather not have to do a full reinstall over a single file, especially since this is a relatively new install anyway.
I've included the crash log from internet explorer (32-bit), but other programs are giving similar results.

Security Patch Is Causing Pc To Crash And Not Boot Up

I have windows updates set to the recommended automatic so i didn't really anticipate a nightmare when instead of clicking the shut down option like normal, i pressed the power down option that allowed the latest windows update including the new security patch to be installed. When i tried to power up my laptop again it would only boot for a second before abruptly switching off. It did this several times with the switch off so abrupt that i initially thought it was a power issue, but when windows repair came on, it held power fine ruling my first thought out.

The first attempt to repair did not fix the issue as on restart the laptop again randomly cut off during booting up. After more attempts to switch on, windows repair came on again but in this case after ten minutes of "attempting to repair" it came back with a result that it could not. I did however get to the option to do a system restore which thankfully appears to have worked. I am however faced with the problem of windows once again wanting me to update my system. After what happened earlier i am not keen to do so. Is there any way around this so that this update and patch will not install or that can be installed without the nightmare of it causing the laptop to repeatedly crash after. Operating software is vista.

Flash Player Causing Blue Screen Error

I have recently bought a new system. Everything runs perfectly except for one critical problem; i can't view flash videos or anything played in a web browser by flash player. Animated flash advertisements will load to the first couple of frames, i will hear a bit of noise and then a brief 1-2 second system hang and straight in to a blue screen. Same goes for youtube etc, might see a frame, if that, a brief noise and hang/blue-screen. This has occurred since i have purchased the pc.

I have attempted to fix the problem by updating my graphics drivers to the latest, updating flash player to the latest, updating sound drivers to the latest.

System:amd i5 750 ati radeon 5870 realtek audio i am just viewing the blue-screen dump file, there is no bug check string, however it seems to indicate an amd/graphics driver causing the conflict.

Usb Devices - Flash / Hard Drive Causing Bsod

I am completely stumped as to why my flash drive (verbatim 16 gb) and my external hard drive both seem to be causing windows 7 to crash. At first, it only seemed to happen when i tried to save a word file to the flash drive (so i thought it was an issue with that device) - but when i tried to transfer files to my external hard drive, i got another bsod. Oddly, i have no trouble opening and saving to a onenote notebook file on the flash drive - but i don't know what that means.

Idt High Definition Audio Codec Driver Causing Problem

Idt high defintion audio codec driver causing problems with windows 7 after upgrade. Driver upgrade is not working, due to "digital signature". At some point after upgrading to windows 7 my sound driver began giving me problems. It would lock up any program that attempted to use sound, even simple sounds such as the "ding" sound in windows explorer.

I attempted to upgrade my driver to it's most recent version through the hp website, but after installing the driver, it says that my "digital signature" cannot be verified. (Code 52). Hp offered no support, neither did the manufacturer of the driver, idt.

Ati Radeon X300 Graphics Drivers Causing Laggy Flash Video Playback

Ati radeon x300 graphics drivers causing laggy flash video playback in all web browsers, under new windows 7 x64 install. I am having a problem with an ati radeon x300 driver and just wondered if you might be able to help?

I basically did a clean install of windows 7 on my pentium 3. 0ghz with 3gb ram and everything worked great. However, i installed an updated video driver for my ati radeon x300 and installed photoshop cs4 and also a reg entry which adobe offer to force enable hardware acceleration when the option is not available in your display adaptor properties.

Anyway since i installed cs4 and ran the new drivers and reg entry flash video playback within all my browsers has suffered. It is ok when small, but when full screen it drops frames and is slow and laggy. Another thing i noticed is 720p youtube playback is very laggy and before it used to play fine.

Anyway i booted in xp (i have a dual boot system) and tried to run flash videos and they did the same. However in my xp config i can lower the hardware acceleration which i did (by 1 notch) and it fixed the issue.

However in windows 7 & i have this new driver installed which doesn't seem to support the changing of hardware acceleration. I am pretty sure if i lower it it will be fine but i can't get to the setting. I tried uninstalling the card and installing the older drivers in safe mode but it wouldn't let me. Does anyone know how i can lower hardware acceleration so i can get these videos playing back properly?

Repeated Shutdown Pc To Tv

1. I think my pc cannot find the tv.

2. The pc (win 7) shuts down quickly four times and recovers quickly four times, then goes to a blue screen (with a lot of text).

3. The blue screen last just a moment, if fact i cannot read the text.

4. Then the pc reboots and ask if "i want to reboot in regular (or safe) mode).

5. The steps above then repeat, except maybe one out of ten times it finds the tv and all is right with my pc to tv world. What to do?

Cannot Shutdown After Upgrade

I've upgraded my nec notebook (versa s9100) from vista business to window 7 ultimate. After upgrading, the notebook does not shut down completely. The power light indicates that the power is on and i have to hold the power button down to cut power. When it starts up again, it will say that the computer was not shut down properly.

I can hibernate the computer but when it starts up, i get the recovery page where i have the option to start in safe mode, etc. I select "start windows normally" and it works ok. I tried doing the clean boot as suggested by other forums but it did not resolve the problem.

I realized that i forgot to turn off my avast anti-virus when i did the upgrade. Would that have affected the upgrade?

Abnormal Program Shutdown

When i close an email in outlook (2007), the whole outlook program closes; same with word docs. Not just ms office programs, this happens in other programs as well - eg copernic agent professional: close down a search and the whole program exits!Have run both virus and malware checks but nothing there. Only other possible clue is that the mouse pointer appears unduly sensitive (but can see nothing in control panel to reduce sensitivity). Am using single mouse click. Any assistance appreciated . . .

Shutdown Button Sometimes Deactivated

I have a problem with windows 7 professional 64 bit. Sometimes the shutdown button is deactivated, i can see the button but can't click on it. Only with ctrl+alt+del it's possible to shutdown, log off etc. The error appears randomly so sometimes it works, and i can shutdown, log off etc. With clicking the button. It isn't a user-right based error because i have the problem with admin rights and also with normal user rights. I don't have a policy running where the shutdown button is deactivated. I installed the os with help of the waik tools, sysprep and a unattend.xml file but i don't set anything like this in the unattend file. Does somebody have any idea what it could be?

Shutdown Errors & Support

This seems to be a recurring theme on all the win 7 forums, the machine won't shut down properly. Select shut down, screens goes to the "shutting down" view, but the circle icon freezes after a few seconds and the machine hangs.

When i reboot, windows does not report a failure, it just boots normally and works fine, but come shut down, problems again.

This is happening everytime i use the machine, though sometimes i get the odd bsod thrown in at shut down as well, just for good measure.

I have used the internal checking within win 7 to try to find the issue, but nothing works, i don't want to have to re-install win 7 ultimate, a couple of weeks after installing it, but that is looking like the only option and that is not guaranteed to fix the issue.

I have tried to contact microsoft through their online "help & support" forum, but they say my version of win 7 ultimate is not activated (yes it is), then when i enter my product code, it says because i am not registered, i have to pay £45 for 1 hour of support.

Me pay them to have them fix a problem with their software! I thought vista was bad, this is just vista 1. 5 with bugs, should l have stuck to vista.

Anybody got any ideas on what is causing this, as lots of people are seeing this issue, yet no support answers seem to give a resolution

System specs are

Win 7 ultimate
Quad core processer
6gb of ram
2 x 512mb nvidia graphic cards working in sli mode
2 x 1tb sata hdd
28" hd monitor

Win7 Random Shutdown

I am using win 7 ultimate 32 bit, upgraded over vista home premium 32 bit. My laptop is randomly shutting down, it never done it while i had vista installed. It is not going in to sleep mode or anything similar, as some have suggested, it completely shuts down with no warning but can be booted up straight away. The only time i can make it happen for sure is when i run the windows experience index, it gets near to the end and then shuts down. I used to be able to run the wei before so i don't know why it does it now.

Any ideas as this is really annoying me?

Update At Shutdown Hangs Up

Os: win 7 home premium 64 bit oem installed on zt 1. 5t desktop
Service pack level:  do not know. Machine is 2 weeks old and have seen 3-5 successful updates at shutdown time.

Few weeks ago bought a quad-core zt machine that came with win 7 home premium 64 bit os and a 1. 5t hd. Have been very happy with the unit, and have seen some 3 or 4 updates at shutdown with the usual banner "please do not power off or unplug your computer; installing update 1 of x. "  So, would happily head to bed and could hear the unit shut down in five minutes or so.

Not so last evening (fri, feb 26). Saw the update screen at 11 pm, and still there as of 10 am this morning. Yes, can see some sporadic hard disk activity, and the spinning cursor.

Any idea what may be happening, and more importantly how can i break out of the update, bring to a place where i can continue my work?

Btw, have two other win 7 systems that did not have the update last evening: a netbook running home premium 32bit, and a dell desktop running win 7 ultimate. All three are on a home win 7 network.

Instant Shutdown Using Flash Player

I upgraded to windows 7 professional 32-bit a couple months ago from windows xp on my gateway laptop. I don't know why my computer keeps shutting down everytime i play either a video or games mainly using adobe flash player. This always happens while doing any flash applets, surfing the web, and playing games on my computer. It will freeze up for about a second and then just shut off completely to immediate power off.

It won't even allow me to restart right after it shut downs. The computer will act like it's going to restart & then shut down again a few times. I have to wait about 10-15 minutes to be able to restart it. I have uninstalled & reinstalled flash player, restored the computer to a previous state, made sure that all my drivers are updated & even tried to the system recovery/troubleshoot in windows 7. This only started after i upgraded.

Install Update On Reboot, Not On Shutdown

I have a question that i thought microsoft would have thought about and implemented years ago. When there is updates for windows that needs to be installed, why do microsoft only have the option to install these on a shut down? If there is any updates you get 2 options.

1. Shut down the computer and install updates.

2. Install the updates and hope that the update doesn't require you to reboot.

What i want is this.

1. The option to install updates when i reboot my pc because then i can install the updates if i go away for a while and the computer are updated, rebooted and ready to be used again when i get back. Even if the update doesn't require a reboot this feature would appreciated. Murphys law apples here. If you don't have the time to reboot after installing updates a reboot is required. If you do have time a reboot isn't required. And even if a reboot isn't required there is no harm done if i choose to reboot and install updates.

2. The option not to install updates when i want to shut down my pc. Sometimes i might just want to shut down the computer without having to install the update because i'm in a hurry. I don't want to have to wait for the updates to install before i can take my computer with me.

Bsod - Usbhub.sys On Shutdown / Hibernate

A few days ago my computer with a recently installed windows 7 build 7100 start getting a bsod every single time i shut it down, restarted it or set it to hibernate. I've tried updating all ubs drivers in device manager but they were all up to date and didn't help. I tried restarting it with not a single usb device plugged in. I normally only have a usb mouse and sometimes a exhd or ipod plugged in, standard stuff. I tried doing my own research for the problem elsewhere but couldn't find any answer.

I also tried windows update and installed these three new optional updates but that failed to make any difference either. What other information do you need about my computer to diagnose the problem?

After An Accidental Shutdown The 32-bit Program Flickers

Dreamweaver 8 worked fine for the first few days on my windows 7 computer. Oddly the companion program, fireworks, is just fine. I accidentally hit the power strip and turned the computer off. Since then it it won't open. When i try to open it, it flickers on, then disappears. Same thing happens when i try to get the 8. 02 patch from macromedia.

Yes, it's an older version, but i am reluctant to buy cs4 since it's not quite compatible and they're coming out with cs5 sometime this year. Does the flickering signal something worse with my computer? Any way to get this 32-bit program running again?
