No Recording With Usb Audio Device

I choose to play the audio output of my pc via a hi-end usb dac rather than the scabby wee green hole. But as soon as i connect it (or any external usb sound-card) all internal audio input to the stereo mix disappears. Stereo mix remains the only and active device in the sound 'record' tab (other than microphone) with or without the dac connected but any signal showing activity on the bar meter when not connected disappears when connected.

As all recording software, including the basic windows recorder, still see only the stereo mix recording source option then no recording is possible whilst monitoring via the dac. I have to disconnect it and monitor any recording from said green hole. Then, once recorded, swop back again.

As i make music, entirely pc based, then i require as good and true a monitoring system as possible, thus the dac, but it's a bit of a nonsense that having got my mix just so via the dac, i then have to disconnect the thing just so's i can record it down onto two tracks of audacity or the like. And then connect it back to listen to the final result. Am i doing something wrong/missing the point somewhere please?

Lifecam Cinema Stop Recording Audio

I purchased a lifecam cinema to record a conference that i was attending. Install went as expected, i updated to the latest version of the software lifecam3. 22.exe and installed the latest hardware patches in cinema fw 1033_3. 20.exe. I recorded 4 days at the conference and when i returned home and started to look at the videos all of the files had differing points where the audio just stopped being recorded.

It seems that any adjustments to the zoom or pan settings cause the audio recording to stop. I have tried recording with debut video capture and it had similar problems where the audio and the video got way ot of step and the software reported dropping video frames but the audio was intact. Anyone else having these sort of issues.

Recording From Usb Turntable Poor Sound Quality

Windows 7 is not as good as windows xp when recording from usb turntable. I bought a usb turntable and have had multiple problems with windows 7 (automatic clipping each time i press record, poor sound quality. Etc) on my new computer. I decided to try using my older computer with windows xp and am impressed with the ease and quality. Only problem , my odler computer takes forever to process the sound files. Since i don't have windows 7 office, there is no way to revert to xp. Are there any updates to address such an issue?

Logitech 250 Usb Headset - Setup Playback / Recording

I recently updated to windows 7 from xp, and when i tried to plug my logitech 250 usb headset into a usb port, windows made the usual sound, so it seems as if it recognized it. However, it didn't set the playback or recording to default to the headset. So i tried going into the sound settings in the control panel to set it, but it didn't even show up in the list of valid recording and playback devices.

It should be compatible, and it does show up in my regular devices menu, however i can't get it to work. Please help me.

Error - Unknown Device - Usb Does Not Recognize Garmin Device

Just recently, windows 7 home premium addition has stopped detecting my garmin device. Other usb devices such as my ipod work fine. I was able to get it to detect the garmin only a few times, it would try to install the drivers but the drivers would fail to install. The garmin was working a few weeks ago. Below is a list of everything i have already tried:

Rebooting (after everything i try)
- Turning the computer off and leaving it unplugged overnight
- Completely uninstalling all drivers and software associated with the gamin.
- Manually installing drivers
- Uninstalling the unknown device and doing a search for new hardware
- Uninstalling the unknown device and doing a search for legacy hardware (this produces a device not functioning (code 10) error)
- Reverting back to a restore point before the last windows update

Please, any help would be very appreciated. I am decently computer savvy and have always been able to fix any problems that i have. This one has had me spinning my wheels for days.

I purchased a new computer with windows 7.initially my ipod worked fine with this computer. It still charges the ipod but nothing else. In addition it will not work on my old computer.

1. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.

2. I reset the device losing all of my music.

3. I have gone to device manager and the ipod shows up as unkown device. I have stopped the device driver and rebooted.

4. I have tried to have attached to my old computer update and i receive the exact same error and usb not recognized message.

5. Other devices work fine on the usb hub, in addition i have tried the other usb hub.

All of the above measures have failed. This all started when i was having problems updating my music to the ipod, and i chose the restore function on the summary page of the itunes software, with the device attached, and recognized. Since then nothing? Initially when the device was attached after the restore option was chosen, i got need to attach to a 2. 0 usb  high speed hub, error message? It is a 2. 0 usb high speed device. I have reviewed other questions in this forum, on apples forums, all with the same results, nothing.

Audio Device Is Disabled

I've gone back and forth looking through countless websites / forums for a solution to this, but i cant seem to find one. My computer's sound card would used to start acting funky after i left it on for a day or 2, and would require a restart, and after restarting from one of these, the sound stopped working altogether, my sound card is integrated into my motherboard. I also cant watch videos now since my sound stopped working, but video games work fine. As well towards the oddness, my internet connection tab in the bottom right of my screen says i'm not connected to anything, but im actually fine.

Cannot Enable Audio Device

I have a laptop toshiba tecra m11 with w7 64 pro. After a windows update i do not have any more sound. I cannot enable the audio device. - I do not have a restore point to use

- I have tried to disable/enable the sound card
- I have tried to de-install and re-install the sound card
- I have tried both drivers, 1 from the toshiba support website, one from the sound card manufacturer, realtek. Both not working

- Windows device manager tells that the sound card is working properly even if there is a cross (white cross inside a red circle) telling 'no speakers or headphones are plugged in".

- After running the troubleshooter, i am told the audio device is disable. I cannot enable it. I would like some sound. Any help ?

Usb Hub Displaying As Device In Device Manager

Pretty much all my device connected to my usb hub used to show in device manager as separate devices. However, they now only show under the name "kevin o'connor" (the name of my zune). Open the device's properties and going to the hardware tab will show all the device connected via the usb hub.

Therefore, all the devices do in fact work, it's just a little bothersome to me, and the fact that i can't safely remove anything from the hub without having to eject the entire hub. Here's a screen shot that shows what the hub shows as: http://i34. Tinypic.com/34fxmp4.png

No Audio Output Device Installed

I had the same problem before. I upgraded to windows 7, had the red "x" on the audio and fixed it pretty easily with realtek high def audio driver. That's all i can remember from that. Well i bought a new printer and had to downgrade back to vista and that's when the sound messed up again. I tried to fix it with vista but was told i should go back to windows 7 so i did and the problem still persists.

I have a compaq presario sr5113wm and from my knowledge my sound card model is a creative sb live! Series (wdm). Everytime i start my computer the action center pops up with messages saying "address your sound card" or something like that so when i go to the device manager to check the sound, video and game controllers the only option listed is my webcam mic. Realtek or creative are not listed and i tried installing and uninstalling everything and i still get nothing! I keep getting people telling me to take the sound card out but i really want to leave that as a last resort and try to fix this technically. I've done it before but maybe i'm missing something.

No Audio Output Device Is Installed

I've already tried updating the driver, but the solution did not work and none of the other solutions are possible for me to even try. I haven't had problems with sound until randomly a little while ago. I have a dell inspiron 1440 on windows 7 64 bit home premium. On the bottom corner, there is a red x next to the sound icon and when i check for playback and recording devices, it just says that none are installed. This is a very frustrating problem.

Audio Output Device Is Not Installed

I just got the "no audio output device is installed" message for the second time. I can't remember what i did last time to fix it, but i've tried everything that people have suggested on multiple threads concerning this. It was literally working last night as i was listening to music, today when i turned it on it said i had no audio output installed. I have an hp pavillion dv9500. I upgraded from vista home 32-bit to windows 7 pro 64-bit, but never had a real problem until now.

I tried to find the driver on the hp site, but the driver didn't work. I've even tried to restore my computer to a week ago when i got a system update, but it keeps failing. There is also an exclamation mark on the co-processor under other devices in the device manager, but i have no idea what it is, and my sound, video, and game controller section pulled a houdini on me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Audio Output Device Not Working

I have a toshiba a215-s7444 laptop that i have had for 2yrs. It originally came with vista 32 bit installed and 2gb of ram and i added 1gb of ram a year later and all was fine. I recently did a format and custom install of se7en 64 bit. Now everytime that i resumed form "hibernation mode" i had no audio and got the error message that "no audio device is installed and it does not even appear in the device manager. When it runs the diagnostic it tells me that "new hardware may have not been detected. Now upon reboot everything is fine.

I have audio and in the device manager is the realtek hi-definition audio device. But resuming from sleep mode everything worked just fine. Ok so i updated the windows experience index score hoping that it would recognize the new hardware change. But the prob. Persisted. So the other night i added another 1 gig of ram for a total of 4gb. And all 4 gigs are being used, in the control panel>system and security>system it says installed memory (ram): 4 gb ram (3. 87 usable).

So i am fairly sure that it has recognized the added hardware change. Now after adding the 4th gig it recovers from hibernation mode just fine but when coming out of sleep mode i lose my audio device. Until i reboot or restart-lol. Anybody have any ideas besides the obvious just use hibernation mode only. Or is this a question for the toshiba forums?

High Definition Audio Device Does Not Work

I posted a question earlier - on high definitiion audio device - which is manufactured by microsoft - does not work in hp pavillion dv8330us - and they don't support it - i have the latest driver 6. 1. 7600. 1635 (7/13/2006) (i get a code 10 error message)

What can i do to make sound work ? I'm not  sure if it is a motherboard issue or a sound device issue. It is a 32 bit system - hdaudio.sys. I'm even wondering if i have to buy a new sound card to work with windows 7 on this computer - and which one would that be and the cost? A friend has a dell computer and they support the same high definition audio device and he has the exact same driver installed.

Asus P5vd2-mx Motherboard Audio Device Driver

Audio device driver required - windows 7 64-bit - asus p5vd2-mx motherboard - cpu: socket 775 - audio device "unknown". Ok, as the title says, i need the correct windows 7 64-bit driver (fyi. Asus do not have any win7 drivers for my board except for bios flashers)

Previous: new computer (to me its new, it was my brothers) worked fine for him but came with all drivers pre-installed (he also used win7 64-bit)

I formatted the drive and re-installed win7 64-bit. It showed the device as working including in the device manager, however, no matter what i did i got no sound. I tried to find drivers online and found one saying it was the win7 64-bit driver, it installed fine but had to reboot to finish the install, o nreboot it gave an error as i logged back in (cant remember what it was now) and now there is no device showing up at all anywhere not even in device manager and not even showing "unknown device"

I have been to asus website and tried the win vista 64-bit audio driver for my motherboard and it says it is not compatible.

Note: i have been through the entire faq on the asus website and they have no useful information what so ever, as with the forums.

Note: have also checked in playback devices panel and shown disabled hardware. Still nothing
I have tried using sis software "sandra-lite" and it cannot detect any audio devices

If this is a bios version problem and i have to flash it, please let me know and if possible provide a link to the correct flasher. Ive not flashed a bios since 1998.

Compaq Presario V2000 Audio Device Problem

I've scoured the threads on here and tried re-installing the realtek audio driver. I have a compaq presario v2000 laptop. Hp/compaq says that's the solution, but while it seems to install without error, it restarts and still finds no audio device to begin with.

I'm running win 7 64bit. I need to use this computer for audio production, actually, so i'm in a slightly bad situation and i am desperate for help. Remember, i already scoured the win7 audio threads on here and tried many of the suggestions, and each of them have failed. Miserably.

Asus P5ad2-e Audio Device Driver Not Properly Installed

I did a clean install of windows 7 on 2 identical computers with the asus p5ad2-e motherboard. Both have the same problem: a message "no audio output device is installed". Letting windows try to solve the problem then results in an attempt to reinstall the device driver, which fails with the message "high definition audio device has a driver problem". Nothing i tried so far (uninstalling the driver, manually installing a realtek driver for windows 7) has worked.

Microsoft Win 7 High Definition Audio Device Driver

Microsoft windows 7 high definition audio device driver wrongly swaps c sub and rl rr audio jacks. This is a really bizarre thing that is driving me up a wall. I ran windows xp media center edition 2005 on my hp m1050y and the device ran as expected for years.

Then, i upgraded to windows 7 and my rr speaker emits sounds that are supposed to come from the subwoofer.conversely, the subwoofer emits sounds that are supposed to come from the rr speaker.

I also noticed that the speakers properties dialog displays the wrong colored jacks in the jack information section. C sub should be orange and rl rr should be black. However, on this dialog the c sub is black and the rl rr jack is orange.

Rolling back to windows xp fixes the problem. Installing newer realtek drivers for windows 7 fixes that problem but makes it so that i cannot control the headphones and rear l r speaker jacks independently, and cannot hear the headphones without turning up the speakers' volume.

Hp does not offer an updated driver for this device for windows 7. I have also done a strange thing and installed and run mac os x on this machine just to test the audio and even in that os the speaker jacks work correctly, just as they did in windows xp media center edition 2005. The problem definitely is in the windows 7 version of the driver for this device. From what i have read it appears to have also been in the vista version of the driver.

Does microsoft have a hotfix available that addresses this problem? Or, is there a way to swap the jacks in the driver? The chipset is the alc880.

I do not want to manually swap the plugs and jacks as this will not work for any other os i might also boot on this machine. Installing the generic realtek driver also is not an option as i need to be able to have separate control over headphones and speaker volumes.

I need maximum interoperability between operating systems as well as independent control of front and back green audio jacks. No other operating system, including older windows operating systems, have these jacks wrong but vista and windows 7. Anyone know of a solution or of a registry tweak i can do which will swap the jacks in the driver itself?

Usb Flash Drive - Usb Device Is Not Recognized

I have tried 4 different usb flash drives from different manufacturers and my usb hard drive from western digital. Windows 7 recognizes it until i start transferring files. Then it can't find the drive. When i unplug it and plug it back in, i get a notification that the usb device is not recognized. After i restart the computer, it does the same thing all over again. I ran vista before windows 7 and never had this problem. I am very frustrated. I must have access to my flash & external drives or windows 7 is useless to me.

Usb Headset Audio Issues

I'm having a really annoying problem that developed in the past 3-4 months. I use a griffin imic2 to plug in the monaural headset i use for vent. All my gaming (primarily wow at the moment) goes through my xonar dx sound card out to my z-5500 speakers. I'm running windows 7 64-bit on a dell xps420.

What happens is, the headset works fine until i reboot. When i reboot, ventrilo can't find the output, and in windows the imic2 device doesn't show up . If i unplug the device once and plug it back in, vent finds it, but it doesn't output any audio and the volume is at 100% in the windows mixer (i usually have the volume at 80%). If i unplug it a second time, the device works perfectly and windows sets it back to 80% like nothing happened.

I get the same problem with a cheap startech usb sound card i bought to see if the problem was the imic2. My next step is to reinstall but i hate to do that on what is an otherwise perfect setup. Ny ideas? Or can someone point me to where windows stores usb device debugging/logging info so i can see what its doing with this thing on boot that doesn't happen the second time i replug it?

Logitech Usb Headset 350 Audio Issue

For the first month or so of use with windows 7, this headset worked great. It also worked well with windows xp. But, a couple of days ago, i started having issues. Whenever i try to watch a clip on youtube, the sound is very quiet, and when there are supposed to be voices, they are extremely distorted.

Also, when using ventrilo, i now have to turn everyone else in the vent server's volume up by about 500% to be able to hear them.

Cubase Se3 Compatibility With E-mu 0404 Usb Audio Interface

Will windows 7 work with cubase se3? Saving it to install later? Will it work with a e-mu 0404 usb audio interface? I currently use cubase se3 on windows vista, it was a right blag to get it set up on vista but it does now work, just wondering if it will work on windows 7? I am also planning to download it now to take advantage of the 30 quid student deal, but don't want to install it until a later date, probs when they release about the 3rd service pack and it actually works properly, would i be able to just save it to an external hard drive?

I also recently bought a e-mu 0404 usb audio interface which was yet again a right blag to set up with vista, just wondering if that will work as-well?

Mtp Usb Device

I have recently tried to connect my canon 50d digital camera to my windows 7 professional 64bit machine, but for it just can't recognize the camera. I've looked at my devices and printers folder and found the camera simply labeled as "canon digital camera", and it is missing a driver. I dug deeper and found that while installing the driver windows had encountered a strange problem of "system cannot find the file specified" for the mtp usb device.

It appears that the mtp driver seems to be missing on my computer! Anyone have a way to solve this problem? I've seen some of the other threads talking about getting the mtp kits, and i have tried that with no avail.

I also suspect it might be a registry error, but i do not have the expertise to locate the right registry key or know how i'd go about fixing this issue. Much thanks for anyone willing to input on this issue!
