Cannot Boot In Any Mode, Even With Dvd

Yesterday my computer froze during the middle of a document. When trying to reboot, it freezes on the "starting windows" screen. I tried booting into safe mode, and it will stop at "classpnp.sys" and not go any further. I was going to try the "repair windows" by booting from the installation dvd, but when i try to boot from the dvd, it will display the "windows is loading files" bar, and then go to straight to the same "starting windows" animation screen and will stay there indefinitely.

I can't figure out any other way to get into any windows program at all, the only option i even have is to either enter the bios menu or "boot from cd or dvd" (which doesn't work, either) i have windows 7 professional 32 bit on a gateway 9310xl computer. I haven't added any new software or drivers for a while.

Boot Takes Minutes, Will Boot In Safe Mode

When i booted up this arvo, the computer took 15 minutes to get to the log in screen. Upon clicking the profile image, i had to wait another 5 minutes of unresponsiveness for even the desktop background to display. Rebooted 3-4 times, still happened, booted in safe mode, (which is how i'm writing this) and initially thought it was msmpeng.exe that was causing me issues, so i removed mse once i finally managed to get it going in normal mode. I thought the problem was fixed when i rebooted, and i had about 4-5 minutes of normal speeds before it slowed right down and became unresponsive.

When the computer is running, the actual computer itself sounds fine (hard disk is chattering away) but when going slow and unresponsive it only makes noises every 1-2 seconds, if that makes any sense, as if it's under a really heavy load. Hard to tell because i cant open anything. Ran a system restore, didn't do anything. I need help soon! I suspect a driver issue, but i'm just speculating. Specs: windows 7 home premium 64 bit 6gig ddr3 ram i7-860 cpu ati 5770 gpu

Not Able To Boot Into Normal Mode

I have the exact same laptop and got the exact same error message. It happened after going through windows update and when i rebooted for the system to finish updating, i have this same error message come up. It happen several months ago and everex is no longer around! I can't boot into last know good config, or into safe mode, or to the standard desktop. I have been able to get to a command prompt using a bootable disk - which i thought had the iso image for vista x-32 to assist me with reinstalling software.

Cannot Boot Normally Or In Safe Mode

My laptop is only a few months old, but a while ago, the windows 7 home premium operating system stopped working. I can't get it to start up with windows at all, and i've had to resort to using the very limited asus operating system that came with it. I can't access files or anything else on the hard drive. Boot Up From Usb Dvd Drive

I know it can be done, but my bios only has the option, apart from the 'obvious' ones, of booting from usb flash - is that the same as the external usb dvd drive? (Have to use external dvd drive as one in laptop defunct) if not, i will have to boot from a usb stick - have copied the instructions from http://www.Istartedsomething.com/20081104/tip-make-your-pdc-2008-usb-hard-drive-a-bootable-windows-7-install-disk/ to make my usb drive ready, but some sites say it has to be ntsc formatted, and also made bootable with the bootsect utility. Which is correct?

Unable To Boot Even In Safe Mode

I have windows xp home edition. My pc was working ok last night although running extremely slow. Tried to start today but it gave me the following message: "a problem has been detected and window has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmenting, backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, check for any updated drivers. Run chkdsk /f to check hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer. If you need to use safe mode, restart your computer, press f8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

Technical information:

Stop: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x81b4ede8, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000). "

I cannot start in any of the safe modes, as it keeps returning to the blue screen!

Monitor Goes Directly In Sleep Mode On Boot Up

I bought a computer last week online (had it built from a popular site that i've used before). The computer worked fine for a few days. Last night, in the middle of playing a game, it crashed or something. Upon reboot, the monitor went directly into power saving mode. I thought my old monitor was t he problem, so i bought a new monitor. Same thing. When i turn it on, the monitor goes right into sleep mode. Maybe once out of every 20 or 30 reboots it will actually boot up, or i can spam f8 and get it to boot into safe mode.

I read online to turn off all the power-saving options. So i did (and i also installed the new monitor driver from the disc while i was able to do so). Rebooted. Same  problem. Every time i boot up, all i see is a black screen and the monitor goes right into power saving mode, hitting f8 does nothing, no normal boot screens even appear. The boot up "beep" never sounds off, and the fan seems to die down very quickly as well. Whats really confusing is that it worked fine for like 5 days. Then poof there's some kind of conflict.

Maybe the onboard video card is turned on in the bios or something? I don't know cause i cant even get that far. Booting up gets me to a sleeping monitor every time. Anyone got any ideas? These are the exact parts i am working with: amd phenom ii x2 550 dual-core cpu4gb ddr2-800 pc6400ati radeon hd5750 1gb single cardasus m4a785-m amd785g hybrid crossfire chipset power supply 600 watt windows 7 (64 bit)

Cannot Boot In Safe Mode Or Command Prompt

Not sure what the problem is but every mode i try booting in gets a black screen and the brightness of the screen is dimmer however i do get a mouse pointer that i can move around freely. I have an assumption that its a video error and regucure probably messed something up while i was trying to repair broken registry. Currently in kuwait by the way and both safe mode and command prompt is the same way the only thing i seem to be able to use is the f2 setup screen which does not seem to help at all either resetted the settings to default but no progress. Wish i could find a way to fix this without taking cash from my pocket or sending it to a place to reset it to factory settings.

Obtain Xp Mode On A Dvd Or Cd Disc

How can i obtain windows xp mode on a dvd or cd disc? Downloading via my dial-up connection is not viable for a 469mb file (i tried). I have windows 7 professional 64bit and am trying to obtain the windows xp mode file so i can create the virtual windows xp environment. I only have a dialup connection, so estimated time for a download of the 469 mb file is 28 to 32 hours. I obtained windows 7 with a computer from hp, so microsoft will not provide me with support without a $50 charge. Hp tells me that they are not authorized by to make a copy of the file and mail it to me. I also am unable to use a friend's dsl to download this file, as they have windows xp, and mircosoft, prior to download, checks the operating system to assure compatibility with 64 bits, and prevents the download. No one else i know has windows 7 professional 64bit. The microsoft supplemental and replacement parts desk told me they do not have a disk with either the windows xp mode or the virtual windows xp environment, so they can not help.

Dual Boot Boot Problem After Resizing Win 7

Boot problem on dual boot after resizing windows 7 (32bit) switched from drive w: to drive g: i have a dual boot system that boots into win 7 (64) (c:drive) or win 7 (32) (w:drive). I needed to increase the size of win7 (64) drive and in order to do so i needed to move the win 7 (32) partition. Now i can still boot into win 7 (64) with no problem but when i boot into win 7 (32) it windows states that it is not a genuine copy and it is actually on drive "g:"! Anyway to change it back to "w:" because i believe this is the problem.

Dual Boot - Move Boot Image To Second Drive

I have a problem with two different drives both running win7, one 32 the other drive64, on a dual boot system. I want to pull the win32 drive, but it also has my boot information for the win64 drive. When removed it will not boot. I have been working on this for 5-6 weeks. I want to remove the win7/32 and put the boot image of win7/64 on the second drive.

I booted from the win764 install dvd, and went to there pair your computer. The placethat displays the operating systems installed, none will show. I have tried bootsect from the command prompt. It seems to work, but tells me no partition on the second drive. Or on another attribute used, it can not find the path to the drive. I have tried rebuild bcd, fixmbr, etc.

Dual Boot - 1 Xp And 3 Win 7 Boot Choices

I've installed win 7 on my d drive, with win xp still on c, with the idea of having a dual boot system. New Sata Boot Drive Wont Boot

I have a new 2t sata drive (seagate). It took about 5 days of research to finally get my computer to see it. I used seagate's disk wizard to clone my older drive (ide). The sata drive was supposed to become the c: drive. Disk management does label it as the c drive but in "computer" it sees it as f:i disconnected my older drive and when i booted up the bios kept looking for the ide drive. Although the motherboard has sata built in, there seems to be no way to tell the bios that i want the sata drive to be the primary boot drive.

Also with the original drive disconnected i get a "ntldr not found. Press control-alt-delete to restart. "I believe mybios is the problem. I have flashed it with the newest bios i could find, (dates from 2005) but no sata adjustments in the bios. How can i make the bios know that i want the sata drive to be the primary boot drive?

Or is there a way to trick the bios into thinking that it is an ide drive? As it is, the computer is recognizing the sata drive as a scsi drive. I read somewhere that this is not a problem. In summary, i want my system to boot from the sata drive. I would like to reformat the original drive.

Boot Problem - No Boot Device Found

Each time i start up the system the boot file cannot be found. I select the "repair start up" option and it completes it successfully with following detail: root cause found: the partition table does not have a valid system partition. Repair action: partition table repair.completion successfully. After this the system will start up. As mentioned, i have to do this at every start up, so i'm wondering why this partition table disappears when i shut down the desktop. I should mention that this problem started at the time i downloaded and installed the true image backup software.

The installation could not complete and one possible solution to the problem was to stop the antivirus program. At that moment i noticed that the avast antivirus was hanging and i was not able to kill the process. So i restarted the system, using f8 to get the safe start option so that i was able to uninstall the antivirus program. I then tried to install another antivirus application and when installation was almost finished got the message that it was unable to complete installation. I tried to install another backup solution (paragon), but also this one failed. On the other hand, i was able to install the firefox browser.

Windows 7 Freeze In Normal Mode, Safe Mode Works Fine

I am out of ideas. Three days ago my computer started freezing within a few minutes after startup. Freezes with no mouse movement and no keyboard. Must shutdown using the power button. Happens every time i start in normal mode. Safe mode works fine. I have done quite a bit of reading and tried a number of things, so far to no avail. Quite a few error codes present, here are some:

Winlog 6000
Service 7001
Distrib 10005
Service 7026
Event log 1101
Kernel 41
Browser 8032
Load perf 3011
Load perf 3012

I have tried restoring, turning off all non-microsoft services, disabling sound, updating video driver, memory test, adjusting bios per g skill tech forum. All hardware showing normal operation in device manager.

I can't find the minidump .dmp folder in c:/windows. The only location i find for .dmp files is in the watchdog folder, and there are quite a few in there. Let me know if i need to upload them.

My computer is a couple of months old and has been working flawlessly until this happened with one exception. (I have been getting occasional monitor blanking for a couple of seconds followed by a notification that the graphics driver has stopped responding and was successfully restored. )

Dual Boot - Can't See Win 7 Drive After Removing Other Boot Drive

My mobo (msi p7n diamond 780i sli / 570i sli) has a sata raid controller providing 6 sata interfaces
These are organized thus.

Sata 1 - [partition 1 - windows xp] [partition 2 - windows 7 beta (64bit)]
Sata 2 - ocz vertex - windows 7 home (64bit) retail version
Sata 3 - mirror a
Sata 4 - mirror b
Sata 5 - mirror a
Sata 6 - mirror b

The system was originally running xp on sata 1. I added a partition to sata 1 and installed windows 7 beta some weeks ago. The system dual booted to xp or win 7 beta fine. I then added the ocz vertex drive and installed the win 7 retail version, and i am able to dual boot to all three systems just fine.

However - i really want to do away with the xp and win 7 beta partitions and just run with the ocz drive. However if i disconnect the drive from sata 1 the system will not boot up. Can't find ntldr or bootmgr or something similar. I have changed the boot sequence in the bios to point at just the ocz drive - but it just won't boot from it.

Dvd Maker Cannot Create The Dvd

I'm getting this like everyone else on a windows 7 64 bit. The dvd burner is turned on, working, etc. I have 251 gb of free space. The problem is that this error message is so worthless, i.e. No real specifics like "out of space" , "codec error", "invalid input file", "hey, i just don't like you"  . There is nothing to work with. The input is a home movie avi which plays just fine in windows media center. The "just die for no apparent reason" point seems to be 38% in windows media center and 17% in windows dvd maker and the blank disk is kicked out.

If nothing else microsoft ought to build a fix that at least dumps some useful error messages about the failed process so there's a direction to take. At least under dvd maker the status was "encoding" and it dies during that. Windows media center tells you nothing, but the vague error. Oh, yes i did try again after a fresh re-boot and am running nothing else. Same problem.

Boot Up Screen

I bought an hp mini 210 netbook  and when it is booting up right before the username menu when its just a black screen loading a tinny colorful line appears at the top of the screen for about 15 seconds. I asked a geek squad guy and he said that it was just windows seven doing its regular resolution test that it does when it boots up. However just to be on the safe side i exchanged it for the same model of netbook to make sure it wasn't the machine but the line was still their. So i was just wondering if it is really just a resolution test that windows does before booting. And does any one get the same line.

Pc Will Not Boot After Update

Last night my pc did a couple of security updates and did a nvida update - i can't remember if this was for the on-board sound or the motherboard (i assume the later). Now when ever i try to turn on my pc i see the "biostar" logo, for what feels like ages, and then i get a list which ends with "3rd master disk error - press del for bios set-up". In the bios i noticed that i can't add my sata drive into the boot priorities list. When i look at my sata drive it shows as having 0 mb - which is utter rubbish! I've tried setting the sata drive into achi mode - but this just leads to the pc trying to boot from the cd and saying "no media present".

Cannot Boot Up Computer

I cannot seem to load my windows operating system. Before this problem occurred, my computer was installing windows updates, but then it freezes and i had to forcefully shut it down. After this, everytime i turn on my computer, it will take a long time to load up and then it shows that windows is on stage three out of three of installing updates, but it always remains at 0%. Fter two or three minutes, my computer will just reboot and start the whole process again. Now it keeps looping, and i cant even log on my user.

Unable To Boot

When i power on from being totally off, it will not boot into windows. It will not start the desktop. I have a hp laptop dv6000 with vista premium home edition, and when i power on from being totally off, it will not boot/load into 'windows'. It will not start the 'desktop'. A black/blank screen. Although i do see the cursor arrow and it moves around. No icons. Does the 'desktop windows manager session manager' have anything to do with this?I tried the alternate "repair> start up assessment>" portion and it found nothing wrong.

I can get into safe mode and then go to 'system configuration' and get into the three options of start-up and two that will get me into the desktop with limited features. I turned on all the "start up" features there. It goes into desktop ok.

When i try to turn on most any of the featured of the "services" side it takes forever to turn/load anything on. So. With the 'selective' and 'diagnostic setup'. It does fine. 'normal' it won't show/load the desktop. I have a personal family pic for a wallpaper and it works ok in the other modes. I changed the wallpaper to microsoft sample pic and it only works in the 'two optional modes' also.
