Opening Folders Bug

I notice this: you double click on a folder in explorer and it opens to reveal other folders, no problem. Now have you noticed that when you keep clicking on folders that the clicked folder which is showing in the open dialog window jumps all the way to the bottom so that now you have to first scroll that selected folder all the way up just to see the sub folders contained inside of it.

This is very very annoying. I don't want that every time i click on a sub folder it goes all the
Way down to the bottom of the open dialog box, it should stay where it is, but no, instead it
Falls all the way down to the bottom and each time i open a sub folder i have keep scrolling the
Sub folder list up, this is a pain in the buttocks and i consider it to be a bug.

Folders Opening But Not Visible

Ive got issues with windows 7 that are progressively getting worse. It began with live messenger, affects mozilla and has now affected opening general folders.

When i attempt to open a folder, it appears as an icon in the taskbar, and when i click to view it, it expands onto the screen, but keeps moving to the right of the screen and off the side, meaning i cannot view it. The folder/program are always active at the time, because when i have multiples open (eg watching movies in mozilla pages) i can see the thumbnail changing. I managed to rid the mozilla problem by completely reinstalling it, but no luck with msn, and now i cant even open my-computer. Ideas?

Taskbar Bug

Found a small bug in the highlighting of applications on the taskbar. Tested with windows explorer, haven't tested any others. Always reproducible on my machine.

Open two windows. Show the previews by mousing over the icon. Mouse over one of the windows, and hover over the close button. Once the window comes to the front, close it using the close button on the preview, then move your mouse off the preview so that the preview will close soon. The highlight stays on the icon no matter where you move the mouse, until you focus another window or mouse over a taskbar icon again.

Microphone Bug

I have a problem about mic. I use windows 7(32-bit), and have latest sound driver. The problem is, i plug it in at proper "jack" ( the pink one ). I un-mute it and put the volume on max. I can hear on my headset when im poking the mic but when i try to record, or to speak with someone over skype / msn, the green line is not rising up, and people are complaining to me that they can't hear me. I've been searching forums about this. I am sure that its not cause of driver, or non-working mic. Some even wrote that it could be a bug at windows 7, or driver http://social. Answers.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/gettingreadyforwindows7/thread/562f2350-44d2-4495-981d-c416d0337bd7

I have one desktop mic, and headset mic, same problem at both. Oh, and by the way, i never had this kind of problem on windows xp.

Outlook 2007 Bug

After a clean windows  7 install, outlook 2007 places a space before each apostrophe on all outgoing email. I have found that use of ctrl + z fixes it, but we shouldn't have to use it each time. It is annoying. A fix at the source of the bug is necessary. My research finds this is a common new issue among w7/office users.

I have been using w7 since it's rc and hosted a w7 party last month - so i am not a newbie. This is not a formatting issue, rather a bug in the code somewhere. Let's get it fixed microsoft. Everything else works great!

Install Update Bug

I've install windows 7 and like it's excitement, i install the update, but i found that the problem is in the networking. Suddenly i cannot connect to the internet using my broadband connection, the troubleshooting is i have to disable my lan, and try to repair the trouble, and it can connect again to the net. But, if i don't install the update, it can connect anytime without doing the "ritual", i've try to restore the system earlier before the update. Any suggestion or the update is really a bug?

Power Saver / Graphics Bug

My asus computer has this power4gear battery performance tracker/ruinmylife software. I should mention that i always keep my laptop plugged in for the duration of my session, then unplug it after shutting down. When i turn on my computer, everything is fine. But when i start to do anything, anything, an extremely intrusive and dictatorial performance pop up invades my computer screen, telling me that it is switching power plans (nothing changes during this 'switch'), and will not go away or minimize for at least two minutes.

If i try to do anything while it is on the screen, the screen immediately goes black and stays that way until the pop up decides to call it quits. I know it has something to do with nvidia graphics, but if i click on the tray icon nothing happens. Occasionally, after childishly trying to click the pop up away roughly 50 times it starts to fade white, behaving like a non-responsive program (which it obviously is). Every so often the pop up appears multiple times in one session, even if i'm doing one thing for the duration of my time on the computer.

If i'm gaming, i am hard-pressed to minimize the program if the occasion calls for it because bringing it back up each time dims the screen more and more. Is there anything i can do or press to make this pop up go away? It's just really, really annoying!

Bug - Multi Monitor And Apps

I have 2 monitors.

Master monitor (left)
Secondary monitor (right)

I moved office and for cable length reason i changed the secondary monitor to be on the left. I set windows 7 to tell it that the secondary monitor is now on the left not the right.

Previous apps that i've used on the second monitor seem to default in the past to always loading on the screen on the right. Now when i open them application i can only see them in the task bar, they do not appear on screen. If i tell windows 7 my secondary monitor is on the right, i can then see the application on that screen.

This is a bug, windows should know that the secondary monitor is no longer connected on the right and it should not be loading the application window to a monitor that does not exist.

Win 7 Rtm Taskbar Bug

I am running windows 7 rtm x64 from technet. I apply the setting to never combine the icons on the taskbar. Then i open two windows of the same program, lets say word. When i rolled over with the mouse on the beta, the blue color would stretch across both windows very nicely. Now, in the rtm, it only stretches across one window, stops and does it to the other when i roll over the other. It does not look good. Also, is there any clarification that the retail build out today is the same as the rtm?

Game Spider Solitaire Bug

I found a bug in spider solitaire, on xp64, don't know if it still exists in windows 7. I was playing a "simple" game, and removed 7 suits of spades before trying to deal the last set of 10 cards. With 7 suits removed, there were only 3 cards remaining in play. When i attempted to deal, i got the error dialog "you are not allowed to deal a new row while there are any empty slots. "

The problem is i don't have enough cards left to fill all the empty slots, so there is no way to complete the game. I did some quick calculations, and decided the odds of this situation arising are roughly 1:100 for a simple game, but much less for medium or difficult games.

Bug Report Dvd Maker

I have windows 7 home premium x64 with windows dvd maker file version: 6. 1. 7600. 16385 dated 07/13/2009 9:39 pm. When adding titles to be burned, dvd maker shows a time of 150 minutes on the dvd. It can not add mpg files correctly. A mpeg with 1:31 and another mpeg with 45 minutes and another mpeg 14 minutes shows 149 out of 150 minutes. This is incorrect since the blank dvd can only hold 120 minutes. Encoding starts and then there is an error. Nothing is written. I can create the dvd with 1:31 + 14 minutes dvd for 105 minutes.

Win7 Bug - Media Player 12 Froze

While browsing through some songs with google chrome i wanted to save one of the sounds which loaded on the websites flash music player. So i went to the directory d:usersjonappdatalocalgooglechromeuser datadefaultcache as i do similarly with mozilla firefox in windows xp. And copied the file i thought was the audio file into another directory and changed the extension to . Mp3 .

When i opened the file which turned out not to be the audio clip, windows media player 12 froze, and before i was able to move the mouse to close the application, the cursor froze as well as everything else.

The only thing that did seem to work was the song playing before i opened the file. I waited for about 5 minutes to see if the computer would suddenly wake up from its trance, but it didn't. I decided to hit the power button on my pc and restart win7. I tried once more to play the apparent file and once again, the same symptoms showed.

Bug - Bsd On Target Host When Connecting To Win7 Shares

When connecting to a network share on a windows 7 professional host, the target host (server) immediately blue-screens. This behavior is repeatable and consistent.

Scenario:

Two windows 7 professional hosts were tested. One host had a fresh load using the hp standard image. The second host had a fresh load using the microsoft retail dvd. Both hosts are members of a windows server 2003 r2 hosted activedirectory domain running in native mode. Default network settings are used on both hosts, obtaining ipv4 addresses via dhcp. Domain administrative accounts were used in all scenarios.

Tests were performed in the following manner:

1) windows 7 professional client to the c$ administrative share on a windows 7 professional target host.
2) windows 7 professional client to an explicit, read-only share on a windows 7 professional target host.
3) windows xp client to the c$ administrative share on a windows 7 professional target host.
4) windows xp client to an explicit, read-only share on a windows 7 professional target host.

In all scenarios, the target windows 7 professional host immediately blue-screens. This behavior could be duplicated 100% of the time.

Websites Opening On Their Own

I am getting a web site over the top of others - possible virus. The site is a video (tv /movies etc) site that brings itself up after ie has been open for a while - 15 or so minutes - and does not shut down by closing ie as it does not show up in the programs. I have only found it when asked to restore previous session. It generates over 10 instances of iexplore.exe in task manager (processes), but not in applications. The only way to stop it is to restart / shut down the computer, or take out each process although some generate themselves if left.

Folder Keeps Opening Up

Every time turn on my computer, the c:windowssystem32 folder automatically opens (full screen). Under one user account, it opens up completely, under another user account it doesn't open up but an error message opens up (about 5 or 6 times) saying that the folder should be associated with another file. This leads me to believe that the desired setting to change is in the user's settings someplace but i can't find where. Or i am wrong completely.

No Programs Opening In Win 7

I'm having a problem that is truly bizarre. I installed windows 7 professional and immediately set to work installing some of the drivers and software i would need. I used firefox to install most of the others, rebooted for each, and then i tried to open some of these up.

Most of the programs had more or less the same problem: they don't show up. No windows, task bar presence or systray icons. So i tried reinstalling, but the installers won't work either. The "invisible" programs all appear in the processes tab of the task manager when i try to launch them, load two or three mb into memory, and then stop, never making progress beyond that.

I'm at a loss - i can't think of anything that could cause this. So far, i've found that firefox, pidgin, avast! Antivirus, vistabootpro, the razer barracuda sound card configuration utility and even windows media player aren't opening (though sound works fine). Ie, windows media center and the task manager are so far the only programs i've been able to open. Everything seemed to work fine two or three reboots ago. I can't figure out what it could be - i uninstalled the antivirus software and disabled uac thinking that could be it, but still no luck, and now uninstaller don't even load.

Opening Browser Size

When i open a new browser on ie8 it opens into 2" x 13" window, when it used to open into around a 5"x3" size give or take. This is only an issue in a new browser window or a link, not a tab. When it opens into the 2x13 size obviously i can't see any content until i open it to full size. How do i reset it to open to a size that allows me to see content before opening it to full size.

Hopefully this makes sense.
I'm using vista, ie8 on a laptop.

Ie8 Opening Tabs

I was recently installed ie8 on my laptop, which i had avoided due to my dislike of the tab group system, but since (to my knowledge) ie7 doesn't have browser recovery i was fed up with it crashing and causing me to lose my entire session. So i installed ie8, figuring i could probably disable tab groups in the settings or something, and i was pleasantly surprised that i could. However i found that once i had disabled tab groups, whenever i open a new tab it opens at the far end of the currently open tabs.

When i open a new tab with groups on though, it opens up any new tab at the far end of the group, which is only slightly less annoying. I liked how in ie7 any new tab was opened next to the tab it was opened from, instead of at the far end of all currently open tabs. So i want to know if it is possible to replicate these settings in ie8, or if i should just switch back to ie7.

Ie8 Opening Links

I upgraded to ie8 recently and links do not open in the same way as they did before for a website that i use frequently. On this website, i go to a page that has a bunch of stocks listed. Each listed stock is a link and, if you click on a listed stock, it opens a new page with a detailed quote that is displayed as a relatively small window (which you can enlarge to a full page if you want in the normal manner). Before installing ie8, if i clicked on another link (i.e. , A second link) from the list on the original webpage, the info would be displayed by replacing the first linked web page.

However, after installing ie8, every time a click on a new link it opens a new web page. Hence, if i keep clicking on the links on the original page that has the list of stocks, i will end up with more and more web pages being opened. How do i change the ie8 settings such that every time i click on a link on the original page (with the list of stock links) it replaces the previous linked page instead of adding a new web page?

Ie8 Does Not Allow Opening Links

I purchased my laptop with windows 7 and ie8 already loaded, i have not been able to access any link that's not on the same domain - ie8 refuses to do anything. Sometime a green bar at the bottom of the screen will make it look like it is doing something but the green bar disappears and i am still where i started. (Can't open in tab, can't open in new window, won't go in same window). Can keep clicking it but nothing happens. This includes links in my windows live e-mails.

I can copy the shortcut, paste it in the address bar, and continue, but is starting to get annoying. Any ideas?

Note: same domain everything seems to work fine, just when accessing other web-pages does this happen. (Or at least that's when i've noticed it)

Two Browsers Opening In One Window

When opening internet explorer, one window comes up, but it always has two tabs - i.e. Two browsers - each with my default home page, google. Neither browser goes anywhere weird nor acts oddly, they just sit there waiting for me to use them. Typically, to open a browser, i use a quick launch icon on my toolbar or a dedicated button on my keyboard. I have also tried using the ie icon on my desktop and have tried going to start>programs>internet explorer. Regardless of which method i use, i always get a window with two tabs.

I'm not sure when this started, but i think it was after my last windows update. Interestingly, i have a shortcut icon on my desktop for speedtest.net and when i click on it, i get one window only with no extra tab! Ditto with other website shortcuts on my desktop. This is not a huge problem, but a bit annoying as i must now close an extra browser.

However, when i double click the program my mouse arrow goes into "wait mode" (swirling circle next to arrow) for maybe 15 seconds and then it goes back to normal and then no window opens, not even an error box. Any ideas?

Opening Files With The Correct Program

I have done something to my laptop and i am not sure how i did it. I tried to open a pdf file and it would not open. I proceeded with trying to open it with adobe reader. I figured out later that the reason it did not open is because the original file could not be found. The original file was on a flash drive. Anyways, the problem is now when i try to open a file it tries to open with the adobe reader and all the icons on my desktop are the adobe reader icon.

I think when i tried to open that specific file using "open with" it changed everything. My question is: is their a way to change it to where the files will automatically open with the program they are supposed to? Is it something simple or will i need to seek professional help?

Compressed File Opening And Icon

I  changed the default program used to open  compressed zip files  (in windows 7 home premium 64-bit). Lso able to change to any programme icon from the open with command , - so zip files have changed , not opening correctly and all  attachments have changed to fit the icon programme. So the compressed zip files now can appear as generic windows explorer icons rather than the previous compressed folder icon (looks like a folder with a zipper). Is there any way to restore the compressed zip icon and functionality?

Trouble Opening Pages From Another Page

Following a spyware attempt on my computer, i began having trouble opening new pages. Example - from my homepage i click on google docs in my favorites menu, and the first page of my docs comes right up. But when i try to open a file a new tab appears, but no page opens.

Some links open up just fine. It seems random which will open or won't. From one web site with a selection of videos, clicking on a choice takes you absolutely nowhere; while on a different site, the same action performs fine. This happened once before, and i did some simple thing and fixed it. Have no idea now what it was i did. Ideas. Windows 7 and ie8, brand new pc.
