Readyboost Issue: Computer Won't Display Physical And Virtual Dvd Drives

After some nasty bsod and a clean reinstall of windows to resolve that problem i've noticed that sometimes after startup the computer won't display correctly the physical and virtual dvd drives. And the system is too slow. I tried in several times to restart it to see if the problem will disappear but the restart process was taking ages to complete. Till i've disconnected the 4gb sdhc card which was dedicated to readyboost. I tried restarting the computer without the sdhc card in it. Went fine. Everything was ok till i inserted back the card then suddenly the computer slows dramatically stops responding and the problem mentioned above reappears!

My question :is it really a readyboost issue or  some tech fault from my computer? And what can i do to fix it. Now i'm using the computer without the sdhc card and the readyboost function.

My pc config is: toshiba satellite  a 300 intel core2duo centrino 1, 83 ghz 4gb ram
And the driver for the card reader is from o2 and it is the latest one!

Virtual Pc 2207 Cannot Access Host Drives

On a vista box, i have a ms virtual 2007 virtual machine running xp. I just got a windows 7 box. I copied over the virtual machine files from the xp box: - . Vhd (virtual hard drive file) - . Vmc (virtual hard drive settings file) i then created a new virtual machine in windows 7 based on the virtual pc 2007 virtual machine; i enabled the integration features and checked all the drives.

Created a new virtual machine in windows 7 based on a virtual pc 2007 virtual machine (from an xp box); cannot access host (windows 7) drives from virtual machine when i then run the new virtual xp machine in windows 7, everything runs fine (and faster as well). The one issue i'm experiencing, however, is that i cannot access the host (windows 7) drives from virtual machine, even though i've shared the drives on windows 7. Btw, if i run the built-in "windows xp mode" virtual machine, i see the host drives when i run windows explorer from within that virtual machine.

What is it that i'm missing?  (Btw, it was a *ton* easier in ms virtual pc 2007; i simply "mapped" a shared drive in the settings dialog and then see that drive when i run windows explorer from within that virtual machine. ) Another thought: should i simply abandon the above, install ms virtual pc 2007 on the windows 7 box and then create the virtual machine with ms virtual pc 2007 (in lieu of the built-in windows virtual pc in windows 7)?

Cd/dvd Player Or External Hard Drives Don't Stop Running

My camera displays images upside down after upgrading to windows 7 64bit and cd/dvd player or external hard drives don't stop running after quitting attempted access. I have an asus g50vt-x1 laptop that is a 64-bit machine. It had windows vista home premium 64bit installed on it and the camera worked properly with it.

I ran the windows 7 update advisory on it and it said i could upgrade to windows 7 64bit. After upgrading to windows 7 professional 64 bit the camera images are all upside down. I have contacted asus about the problem and they have sent me updated drivers, but the images are still upside down.could windows 7 be causing this problem as i know it worked fine in vista?

I have also noticed that my dvd/cd drive and external hard drives don't stop running after i exit an application. When this happens i can't eject the dvd/cd or safely remove the drive from the computer.

Computer Display Shakes Nonstop - Hdmi Tv Screen Resolutions

We just bought a dell inspiron 560. When i hooked up our 26" sharp hdtv (we'd used it on our other computer, worked fine) the computer screen was too big for the tv, and the top and sides were cut off. I've tried every screen resolution/aspect ratio and tv display view option combination i could try. I've found one or two that fit nicely, but the computer display shakes nonstop. I've tried rebooting but it doesn't work. The only difference between this computer hookup and our old one is the hdmi port on the dell. We bought this computer because it had the hdmi port for the tv, but i can't make it work is there a reason why the screen resolutions that fit the tv nicely shake? The recommended screen resolution is 1280x720, but it's far too big vertically and horizontally.

Cd/dvd Not Visible Under My Computer After Upgrade

I have just upgraded to windows 7 from vista and my cd/dvd drive will not work and is not visible under my computer. I have the acer upgrade dvd with applications and drivers but without the d drive working it's no help. I have an acer 4810t-8480 and was upgrading to windows 7. Step 1 and 2 went fine. But when it asked for me to put the dvd back in for step 3, it could not read it. I tested the drive with other cds and they are not read either. I have done the reboot and checked the device manager. There is non d drive/cd drive listed.

Cd-dvd Drive Missing Or Not Visible In Computer

Latest version of cdrom.sys driver is correctly installed and detected in "device manager". Reinstalling is not helping. High-low filters solution does not apply. Filter are not present. When opening the key with regedit. Window 7 automatic troubleshooter detect the problem with the statement "the drive is not assigned a drive letter" but cannot assign a new letter.

"Computer management" detects the cd drive but the drive letter is missing and the assignment a new one is not allowed: when trying to assign a new drive letter manually, the new letter assigned shows in the screen for about one second and immediately disappears again. Different drive letters have been tried in case standard "e" could be somehow locked by some other software or virtual disk.

Using "computer management" i can mount the cd drive it in a folder in other hard drive and explore/operate cd contents without problem. I am using this for the time being as a temporary solution for having access to information in my cds/dvds. This is happening in asus k52jr laptop with windows 7 home premium-64. Dvd-cd driver is a hitachi hl-dt. St dvdram gt30n.

Dvd Drive Disappears From My Computer After Sleep

On windows 7, running on an hp pavilion p6020a desktop pc, after waking from 'sleep', my dvd drive no longer appears (disappears from) 'my computer'. The drive still opens/closes, but will not launch autorun or be accessed via explorer or a command prompt.

I have already removed the upper/lower value registry items when running vista (and they are no longer appearing when viewed with regedit either).

Dvd Drive Disappeared When I Rebooted Computer

My dvd drive disappeared when i rebooted computer after removing suggested programs before i upgrade to windows 7 64 from vista 64. Now i can't launch the dvd? The upgrade advisor suggested i uninstall itunes, intel proset/wireless, and bluetooth stack for windows by toshiba. It also had me upgrade the driver for my panasonic mfstation scan. After i completed those items, the installer had me reboot computer. Now, i am unable to open the dvd as the drive is no longer visible, and the dvd does not automatically start when i insert it into the drive.

My company is not going to upgrade to windows 7 for some time but i expect many of my clients will upgrade soon. I'd like to tell them that i support windows 7 but i cannot find a virtual windows 7 with ie8 hard drive to install and test. Is microsoft going to make one available and if so, when?

Support 2 Physical Cpu On 1 Motherboard

I have the system on which i would like to install win 7, but still is hard to find info if the win 7 will support 2 amdoptron254 64 bit cpu on one board? Would you post this on your site please ? I believe a lot of people want to know if it works in tandem of cpus. If i missed the subject please let me know where such forum or information could be read or learned. Thank you for taking time to go through my email. As an addition to all of it, i wish to add that i haven't come across even one clear answer with successful dual cpu (not x core or dual-core) deployment of any version windows 7 on the internet yet.

Hardware Reserved Physical Memory

I have two pc. The first one is dell precision t3400 core 2 quad with 4gb ram. Diplay card is a nvidia quadro fx580 512mb. Windows 7 pro 32bit. Second pc is a self assembled i5 650 with 4gb ram. Display card is a nvidia geforce 8400 gs 512mb. Windows home premium 64bit.

I can't do rendering using artlantis render v2 on the dell system. The application either crash or freeze. There is no problem what so ever on the other system. From my observation, the dell system cannot go beyond 1. 7gb during rendering but on the i5 it went over 2gb without any problem.

Is this because of the 32bit and 64bit operating system?

Over Heating And Physical Memory Usage

I have 2 month old hp dv6-1217ax lap top with 4gb ram, i have just installed my windows 7 and now have a problem with over heating - the bios set the fan to be 'on' always which i have changed and i have also found that stacsv.exe (something to do with audio) was chewing up 50% of the cpu so i have ended that process - temporarily until i have to restart. This hasn't affected my audio but i have noticed that when i use the mute function on my laptop the little speaker indicator above the key pad is not turning red but the mute function is still working.

The other issue i am having is that my physical memory is running at a constant 35%? While not running any programs and i haven't been able to find a solution to this.

I have also asked a tech friend who has been in contact with hp regarding these issues and they knew as much as he did - nothing.

I have also been in contact with hp myself and they instructed me to download and install a bois ( winflash for hp notebook system bios (for notebooks with amd processors) " microsoft windows vista-based version f. 17) this basically put my machine back to the same settings as when i had originally when i did the win 7 upgrade. Still got the high cpu usage with the stacsv.exe.

Readyboost Error

I have a flash drive that i use windows readyboost on and i have been using it for a while with the same flash drive but i use the flash drive for other things and have to remove the flash drive from my computer and after running the windows live one care online safety scanner, the tab for windows readyboost in the properties sheet of my flash drive has disappeared.

The live one care safety scanner also has a performance scan and scans your registry for errors, so i can assume that while doing this and removing "invalid" items from the registry, it removed the registry entries for readyboost to to have a tab in the properties sheet of my flash drive, which enables me to start readyboost on the flash drive. I would like some kind of registry fix from microsoft since this is their scan that is doing it to the readyboost.

I also know that many many many others have had this problem and just have never noticed that registry scans, specifically in my case the microsoft windows live one care safety scanner registry scan, removes the needed registry items for readyboost. I have researched and researched to try and fix this problem myself but the only fix i have found is to reformat the hard drive and do a clean install or do a windows (repair) upgrade which is upgrading to your current operating system and version.

Also i am very sure that it is not the flash drive and that windows is hiding the tab because the flash drive is not compatible; when a flash drive is not compatible windows says this flash drive is not supported  not by hiding the ready boost tab under the properties sheet.

Blue Screen - Physical Memory Dump

So, up until recently (november 18-20th) my laptop was working relatively fine. I had some updates from around the 10th that i hadn't updated with, and after having done so i began to receive physical memory dumps. My first solution was restoring to before i updated my computer, which worked. I reinstalled my updates after a good 4-5 hour session, but ended up with the bluescreen 10 minutes into a session shortly afterward.

I have looked at the thread from august, but those updates did not cause memory dumps. On the side, i removed the update causing a different bluescreen which i have yet to encounter, and i do not know if it is the on responsible for my dump (kb9xxxxx, lost the related forum). I am also trying to avoid testing this at all costs because i know the damage physical memory dumps can do to a computer. And somehow my windows vista question got put under windows 7?

Physical Memory Dump - Blue Screen

First post here so hope someone can help me. I have a brand new pc amd althlon ii x2 630 processor, 4gb ram, win 7 64 professional. I randomly get the blue screen reporting a dumping of physical memory. The machine has been back to the pc vendor, twice which they ran cpu, hd and ram tests. All report ok. They have also replaced ram to try that. But still the same. T first i thought it maybe the software i was using being only 32 bit, but seems to make no difference, can be in my email and the blue screen or doing more demanding tasks in photoshop, it seems to make no difference.

Also, i can go for a week with no problem, then get the blue screen 3 times in 1 day? I've dried re-installing drivers, windows memory check reports no errors either. Ny ideas? Here is a memory dump report i save, 3 in total and all look the same to me. Problem signature:

Copy Os To New Hard Drive Without Physical Disks

My hard drive on my laptop recently crapped out 100%. I purchased a new hard drive, but now need to install the os. My wife's computer has windows 7 on it and i was wondering if it was possible and legal to copy her os to my new hard drive. If it is ok, how do i go about doing this when there were no physical disks sent with the laptop. All restores are done from the computer as is done with most newer laptops. Maybe i sounds stupid, but. Well, maybe i am. Please help?

Readyboost And Usb Ram Devices

Is there a usb ram device compatible with readyboost that would plug into usb and allow normal volatile/dynamic memory modules to be used rather than flash devices? Seems like this would be the next logical step to dramatically boosting the throughput. Sort of a usbramdrive. This could be very useful for corporate it support bumping up against maximum ram limitation and looking for ways to boost memory without replacing large numbers of systems. A usb ram disk would be a quick pluggable solution and maybe even a way to recycle older memory into a useful application.
