Keyboard / Mouse Inactive After Monitor Goes Into Sleep Mode

I seem to be having a problem with both the keyboard and mouse going inactive after my monitor goes into a "sleep" mode and is "woke-up". The mouse works for a few seconds after that and then "freezes& if i unselected the "turn monitor off after 1 hour", then i never experience the problem. I'd like to select "after 1 hour" as i leave my pc on constantly. I have the most recent drivers for my monitor (acer al2216w), am using a logitech "access" keyboard and ms wheel mouse optical usb. The drivers for the keyboard and mouse were installed by windows 7.

When Waking Up From Sleep Mode, Mouse And Keyboard Not Working

When waking up from sleep mode, my mouse and keyboard remain "sleeping". How do i fix this?

Keyboard Dead During Sleep Mode

To date i've been impressed with windows 7. I now have an issue that will have me moving to unix or back to windows xp if i cannot find a resolution quickly. I noticed recently when the pc was asleep that i couldn't wake it using [usb] kbd or [ps/2] mouse.

Pressing caps lock on keyboard gives no result as if power to the kbd has been removed. The only way i am able to get out of sleep mode is to press the front-panel reset button. I'm loathe to do that too often. I'm not aware of any changes made to the computer that coincided with this problem starting. Any ideas what could be going on here? Where do you start troubleshooting if the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive?

Monitor Goes Directly In Sleep Mode On Boot Up

I bought a computer last week online (had it built from a popular site that i've used before). The computer worked fine for a few days. Last night, in the middle of playing a game, it crashed or something. Upon reboot, the monitor went directly into power saving mode. I thought my old monitor was t he problem, so i bought a new monitor. Same thing. When i turn it on, the monitor goes right into sleep mode. Maybe once out of every 20 or 30 reboots it will actually boot up, or i can spam f8 and get it to boot into safe mode.

I read online to turn off all the power-saving options. So i did (and i also installed the new monitor driver from the disc while i was able to do so). Rebooted. Same  problem. Every time i boot up, all i see is a black screen and the monitor goes right into power saving mode, hitting f8 does nothing, no normal boot screens even appear. The boot up "beep" never sounds off, and the fan seems to die down very quickly as well. Whats really confusing is that it worked fine for like 5 days. Then poof there's some kind of conflict.

Maybe the onboard video card is turned on in the bios or something? I don't know cause i cant even get that far. Booting up gets me to a sleeping monitor every time. Anyone got any ideas? These are the exact parts i am working with: amd phenom ii x2 550 dual-core cpu4gb ddr2-800 pc6400ati radeon hd5750 1gb single cardasus m4a785-m amd785g hybrid crossfire chipset power supply 600 watt windows 7 (64 bit)

Bluetooth Mouse Fails After Sleep Mode

My logitech bluetooth mouse looses communication after coming out of standby mode. The mouse does not show up in the devices panel and will not resync. To get it back i have to reboot, then remove the bluetooth mouse from the devices panel and then add the device again. When win7 was installed, it recognized the mouse without the need to manually supply drivers. I checked the logitech site which does not have win7 drivers available for download.

The issue is not limited to the mouse as a bluetooth speaker system has similar problems with standby mode. Anyone know how to solve the bluetooth standby issues on win7? System: dell m1330 laptop, logitech v470 bluetooth mouse, win7-64 home premium

When Coming Out Of Sleep Mode, Monitor Wont Turn Off

When coming out of sleep mode, my pc's screen saver won't come on and the monitor won't turn off. My windows 7 64-bit pc is set to bring itself out of sleep mode every morning to run backups. About one third of the time, when it does this, the monitor stays black, with the only visible element being the cursor. The full display is only shown when i move the mouse. This is what i would like to happen all the time.

However, other times, the full desktop is shown when the pc comes out sleep mode, and the screen saver will not come on after this, nor will the monitor put itself in standby mode after 10 minutes like it's meant to. Does anybody know how to fix this so it behaves the way i'd like all the time? It drives me mad as the monitor lights up the darkened room. My graphics adapter is an ati radeon 4200.

Win 7 Does Not Recognize Monitor When Wakes From Sleep Mode

Windows 7 does not recognize my monitor when it wakes from "sleep" mode. When windows 7 awakes from "sleep" mode my desktop screen is distorted.control panel, screen resolution lists the monitor as "generic non-pnp monitor". I have gone to control panel, screen resolution, and picked "detect", "identify", "apply", "ok", and restarted my computer to save my monitor and native resolution setting. The nvidia control panel lists my monitor as the primary display, but "sleep" does not seem to remember this. If i "shutdown" or "restart" my computer everything is fine.

Alps Touch Mouse Acts Strange After Waking From Sleep Mode

Whenever my new laptop wakes from sleep mode, the touch mouse enters some wacky mode and thinks that it is in magnify mode or some other strange mode. If i can manage to open the mouse control panel screen, i can sometimes reset the mouse. Also, if i force a reboot, the mouse works just fine.

I already returned my first hp pavillion dm3 computer to office depot thinking that there was a problem with the touch mouse, but my new computer does exactly the same thing. I have installed windows live and microsoft reader and firefox since bringing the new computer home yesterday. Plus whatever popped up on my screen asking me to update it (norton, i think, did an update).

I have 14 days (13 now) to get this problem fixed before i have to make a decision of whether or not to return this laptop from where i purchased it to get my money back. I hope someone can help. Before exchanging the laptop last time, i tried re-installing the alps touch mouse, but that did not help. From reading about windows 7, it appears that there are a lot of problems with computers waking from sleep.

My current theory is that there is a software conflict. The last time this happened, however, i had closed all of my open programs before closing my laptop lid, forcing it to go to sleep. That leads me to believe that if it is a software conflict, then it is with some system software running in the background.

It is almost as though the mousepad thinks that i am using two fingers to control it. So that the magnify button comes up. I have found that if i do use two fingers when it is acting this way, that i can fool it long enough to open the mouse control screen to force a reset. Once i do that, everything works fine again until it goes to sleep and wakes up again.

Cannot Disable Keyboard Wake From Sleep

I have an asus n80vn notebook. I want to be able to wake up my notebook only by pressing the power button or the sleep button. I do not want any other keyboard key to wake my computer from sleep. Currently, pressing any key on the keyboard will wake my computer from sleep.

Here's what i've already tried:

1. Go to device manager -> keyboards -> properties -> power management -> uncheck "allow this device to wake the computer" why it doesn't work : there is no power management tab in my keyboard driver's properties window. I currently have four entries under "keyboards in the device manager:

Keyboard device filter
Microsoft ehome mcir 109 keyboard
Microsoft ehome mcir keyboard
Microsoft ehome remote control keyboard keys
There is no power management tab in any of these!

2. Go into bios, disable "wake on keyboard" why it doesn't work: there is no "wake on keyboard" option, nor anything similar, in my bios.

3. Open a command window, use the "powercfg -devicedisablewake" command to disable waking from the keyboard. Why it doesn't work: "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" does not report any devices currently set up to wake my computer from sleep. Furthermore, "powercfg -devicequery wake_programmable" only reports that my network card and my usb mouse are capable of being set to wake my computer from sleep (both are currently set not to wake the computer); it makes no mention of the keyboard.

I'm resigned to the idea that i will need to edit my registry, replace my keyboard drivers, or something equally intensive to prevent my keyboard from waking my computer, but i definitely want to do so. If it matters, i have the computer set only to go into s3 sleep, and have disabled hibernation. Any ideas?

Keyboard Does Not Work After Sleep / Hibernate

After i updated to windows 7 (clean install from xp) my keyboard (standard ps/2) will stop working after my pc goes into sleep or hibernate. I changed the keyboard settings to "allow this device to wake computer", which works for sleep mode. However, once the computer goes into hibernate the keyboard will once again not work and the "allow this device to wake computer" box is no longer checked. The drivers are up to date. Is there a fix or work around for this?

How To Configure Mouse To Allow Sleep?

Three days ago, i did a clean install of windows 7 and configured the machine to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity. That worked fine for two days. Yesterday, i installed intellipoint 7 because i need to program the extra buttons on my intellimouse explorer 4 for different applications. Now that i've done that, the machine will not sleep automatically. When i display the properties for the mouse and go to the power management tab, the option to allow the machine to turn off power to the mouse is not activated. Iow, i cannot check that box.

I changed my advanced power management settings to be sure that i set the multimedia sharing to allow the machine to sleep and also disabled "selective suspend" (not sure what it's for) but i still can't get the check box in the mouse power management properties to be activated. Edit:  i uninstalled intellipoint 7 and sure enough, the machine sleeps as expected. The box on the power management tab remains deactivated but the machine is sleeping. What's going on here? I never had any problem with this in same model mouse with either windows xp or vista.

Is this a "known issue"? The old version of intellipoint is not compatible with windows 7 so i can't use it. Is there any way to program my buttons and get windows 7 to sleep?  Does anyone know if i can run an old version of intellipoint in some sort of compatibility mode? Fyi to microsoft: intellipoint seems to have degraded with every successive release since version 3. If that version supported my current mouse and would run on windows 7, i would definitely be using it.

Microsoft Usb Mouse Freezes After Sleep

I've turned off power save on *all* usb ports+hubs+devices. The only way i can remedy the problem is to unplug the mouse from the usb port and plug it back in. The system reports reloading the driver and the mouse works until the next incidence of sleep. Mouse driver dated 6/21/2006, version 6. 1. 7600. 16385 is shown by system to the the most current. I appreciate the power saving, but i really shouldn't have to do this each time. Any help?

Sleep Issue With Mouse And Wireless Card On Usb

I put this toshiba laptop to sleep and incur problems. Win 7 home premium toshiba l455i notice that after i close the top [and induce the sleep] or if manually sleep using the start button, after a minute or so i notice that the mouse led is on, along with the leds for my sprint card.

Watching and listening carefully, i notice that the laptop wakes up, and will beep, an indication that the touchpad has disengaged, noticing that the mouse is plugged in. If i open the laptop, it is standing at the login screen. Why is this?  Why can't i get the thing to sleep. I first noticed this when i started up, and it needed to return from hibernation, with a battery at a low/critical stage.

Troubleshooting Sleep Mode

I have a brand new hp laptop w/fingerprint reader. It's has continually had a problem coming out of sleep mode. When i was using just a password it would always tell me my password was invalid, when i started using the fingerprint reader it always says it doesn't recognize the reader. I could do a hard reboot (disconnect power and remove battery) and it would cure the issue. This last time i did a hard reboot the computer started up, the screen flashed and went black and it will not and has not allowed me to do anything. Keyboard and mouse do not function, black screen. Lights on the keyboard come on and the fans work but that's it!

After Update Sleep Mode Is Broken

I had my computer set to go to sleep after about 20 minutes or so and when i would wake it up, it would immediately show the login screen and i would type my password and then the desktop would show up right away. Well then i installed some "update" and now when i go to wake my computer up it starts all the way back from my bios, running the bios initialization and essentially starting windows as if i just turned my computer on, then it takes forever to load up the password screen and after i enter my password it takes another few minutes to load my desktop. This is unacceptable its actually faster to shut my computer down and turn it back on!

Hdd Problem With Sleep Mode

When the computer goes into suspend, it hangs the hard drives, and doesn't spin them down. Im using win 7, 64, and i am wondering if theres a control panel or something that governs how the computer suspends itself. Im curious to know if you have ever heard of hdd's that do not have the spin-down feature in them. Why i am curious, is that these 2 250gb hdds came out of a raid array, and they are spec built to be continuous (for server type use that never spin down)which may be the problem. I don't know if its hardware or software.

Sound Dead After Sleep Mode

Every time my computer goes into sleep mode, and i turn it back on again the sound is gone. I've searched for hours and hours trying things suggested to others with the exact same problem. I've done troubleshooting steps, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, trying different settings in the sound control panel. Nothing. My computer is a self-built running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, i've got a gigabyte mobo with onboard realtek hd. I'm about to resort to just reformatting my entire hdd and reinstalling windows because i'm pretty much convinced there is no fix. This is my exact motherboard: http://www.Newegg. Cannot Print After Resuming From Sleep Mode

Will not print after sleep mode with win 7 pro, after coming out of sleep mode, 2 printers will not print. I need to restart/reboot, and upon restart printers begin printing jobs in que. Same happens when coming out of sleep mode on win 7, when trying to print from networked win xp pro pc. I need to restart the win 7 pro pc. Printers are hp laserjet 3030 and hp deskjet 6122 (with deskjet 990c driver for the hp 6122). I have had this problem since set up of my win 7 pro pc in feb 2010; haven't found an answer yet.

This new pc has 2. 8 ghz amd athlon ii x64 7850, with 4 gb ram, 500 gb hd (only using 10% of hd). I have avast home, lavasoft ad-aware, threatfire; all in memory; windows firewall or comodo firewall set at different times - never on at the same time. Right now this is the major glitch. I know that network printing will not work when win 7 pro pc is in sleep mode; but after coming out of sleep mode printing is no longer available. I have run the troubleshooter countless times, but so far no answers.

Pc Does Not Respond After Waking From Sleep Mode

This is beginning to happen more frequently. I put my computer to sleep, and 5 minutes within logging and using anything (ex.google chrome or itunes), the application freezes. I then click alt-control-delete, but it never pops up (usually works). Then i go the taskbar and it shows a "explorer.exe not responding. ". Then the whole computer just freezes, and then only thing i can do is hold down the power button for a force shutdown. My wife's computer is also windows 7, and it always works (doesn't "not respond") when she wakes it from sleep. So its something with my computer. Is there any solution for this?

Computer Wont Come Out Of Sleep Mode

My computer wont come out of sleep mode. Screen will go black after some time. Than using the mouse and keyboard wont wake it up. The screen stays black. Yet the light on the monitor stays green instead of orange (it has signal but nothing is there) i have to hold the power button and kill it than reboot to get the screen back. I never had any hardware problems in xp but im new to windows7 and still getting familiar with it. Figured somebody would ask some system specs.
I just installed windows the other day and downloaded newest drivers for everything. Also got all automatic updates.

In power settings turn off the display is set to 10 minutes, and sleep mode is set to never so im guessing its not really going into sleep mode. I now went in and looked at some settings and made some changes. In advanced settings i turned off hybrid sleep (i dont know what it does) i saw selective usb suspend setting that was enabled (dont know what it means) could that be turning off my mouse and keyboard thus why i cant wake it up? I turned off all sleep mode features now. And disabled all hibernate/turn off display features. And am going to let it sit for awhile and see if it does it again. I will report back if this works.

Cannot Go Into Sleep Mode After Being Left Idle

Windows 7 home premium, dell inspiron 1545 laptop. My laptop will not go to sleep after being left idle. I have checked all power options, including allowing the laptop to sleep when sharing multimedia. I have checked the device manager for hardware which can wake my laptop. There are no programs which are scheduled etc. When the battery reaches the critical level, my laptop does go into hibernate mode. I am currently using the default power saving power options which do not work. I am fairly sure my laptop used to go to sleep with windows 7 installed, but have no idea what has been changed and don't fancy formatting etc. This is driving me mad. I'm not a computer novice, and have googled, tried loads of different options etc.
