Bootmgr Is Missing - Computer Won't Boot Correctly

Original title: my bootmgr is missing again. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart after trying to update my mobo's bios my computer won't boot correctly. I have already tried putting the os disc in and choosing the repair functions. This has not worked. It wouldn't even find my os. Finally i found more instructions that lead me to export my bcd to the c drive. After that it finally recognizes and see's my installation when i do the rebuild bcd, but i still get the same error message.

Master Boot Record Corrupt After Reboot

So every time i reboot windows 7 ultimate it loads only to the loading screen and then stops. The only way to fix it is to put the dvd in the drive and use bootrec /fixmbr and then reboot and it loads as it should. I have tried rebuilding the file also using bootrec and the same thing happens as soon as i restart the mbr record is corrupt each time. This is a fresh build of windows 7 with a brand new fujitsu hard drive. I checked the hdd and its seems ok. The drive is sata drive running in compatible mode. Now i get no errors it just locks up at the loading screen and sits there forever. So it is really hard to diagnose what is going on.

Error 1335 - File Corrupt

I recently installed windows 7 on my new custom built machine about a week ago. I came across a problem when i tried to install a game [crysis] the error occurred when the installation began to copy the files and install the game. This particular game is using . Cab files to install the software. I receive an error at the beginning of the installation, "error 1335 - file . Is corrupt etc. The file is there and working. I tried to install other software such as photoshop and various other games. Fter searching the net i believe the problem is directed at the windows installer.

Another solution i have found is that it could be down to the ram. I ran a memory diagnostic which did find a problem. I wish to know whether there is an actual solution to fix the problem or if i will have to buy another ram. Methods i have tried;

1. Using msiexec /unregister and a couple other commands but am unsure if they did anything. 2. Tried to install the software off the hard drive 3. Ran a registry cleaner, disk clean up and defrag. They are the methods i can remember off the top of my head. Ny guidance or possible fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Unable To Download File Is Corrupt

I am having problems downloading any kind of update for my laptop. The updates i am talking about are for windows, norton, etc. I am not a crazy downloader. It will start the update and then a message will pop up saying the update was unable to be completed because files are corrupt. The techs at norton were finally able to get the updates to take but they  had to have publisher had to show up as unknown. In addition to that from time to time the webpages will obscure and all mixed up. Any clue on how to fix this?I hope this makes sense, my husband is the one that handles all the computer issues and he is deployed so i am doing my best.

I just recently installed a pc game called halo, i was able to play it without no problems then after about 10-15 uses, my laptop started actiong up in a way that when i opened another game it would open but minimize right after, so i did a system restore to the previous day and now when i want to play halo it gives me an error that says "c:windowssyswow64msxml4.dll is either not designed to run on windows or ir contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Msasn1.dll File Corrupt, Invalid, Changed, Broken

The following error appears in my event log over 20, 000 times in the last 7 days. I assume something is seriously wrong? This .dll file seems to have something to do with security? Code integrity determined that the page hashes of an image file are not valid. The file could be improperly signed without page hashes or corrupt due to unauthorized modification. The invalid hashes could indicate a potential disk device error.

Live File System Will Not Save File

Live file system will not save file!Windows 7 and udf will copy several files and then you get to the last file which is 700 meg and the space free bar under the dvd rw drive shows 1. 2 gig left. The copy starts and runs till about 350 meg left then it slows down all the way to 17 kbs and also till 10 k was left on the dvd. By this time about 5 hrs have gone by and the copy window has showed 1 hr left for 3 hrs. The cancel button won't work task manager when used will crash the system. You can force a shut down but then you have to reactivate norton with your purchase code. A search of the internet for me was no help at all.

System Freeze On Boot

I recently purchased win7 ultimate. The win7 advisor says that my computer can run all the bells and whistles of win7 64bit. I was previously running xp pro. I have attempted numerous boots from both the 32bit install disk and the 64bit install disk to begin the install process. Both disks and two different optical drives make no difference.

Within about 5 minutes of startup, regardless of whether i have begun the install or are in some other portion of the setup, the computer will completely freeze and the only option is to hardboot. Shortly after the system freezes, the optical drive stops spinning (though i can still open and close the optical drives). I had no previous problems with xp so i would tend to doubt a hardware issue.

I have been having problems lately with windows media player freezing while trying to load files, also msn has been acting up. Win 7 Will Not Boot - Operating System Not Found

I installed windows 7 on october 27, 2009 (previously had vista) and it was working great. Then about three days after christmas my computer froze and said, "operating system not found. " I then proceeded to take the my computer to where i had initially purchased it, bestbuy. After there geek squad looked at it they informed me that in all likelihood i had a bad motherboard. I purchased a new laptop from them and had them back up my old files onto my portable hdd and was on my way. I then decided that i might as well see if there was anything that i could do to get the old laptop working. I called hp (the manufacturer of my old laptop) and was told that it could possibly be the sata ii connection on my motherboard that was bad.

So, i got an enclosure for the old hdd and plugged it into the usb port on the old laptop. I went into the boot order and set it up to run the usb hard drive first and it would actually get to the windows loading screen! But that was as far as i could get. It would then go to a blue error screen 0x0000007b, telling me to check for viruses and such. I then tried to run system recovery and it was unable to repair it. This is what it told me:

I have tried to run the windows 7 upgrade disc but to no avail either. I would really like to save my old computer if i can but i don't know what else to do. Please help me!

Fix Separate System And Boot Hard Drives

I recently purchased and installed a new hd for my system that was running windows 7. I had purchased the windows 7 digital download installer so i have no install/repair cds to work with. My goal is to replace the old hd with the new one such that the new hd serves as both the system and the boot drive and if i want to i can either remove the old hard drive entirely or wipe it and use it for back up storage.

After installing and formatting the new hd i performed a custom installation of windows 7 using my downloaded installer and selected the new drive as the drive to install windows. After the installation completed i checked the disk management and the old drive (c:) is designated as the system drive and the new drive (z:) is the boot drive. As it currently stands if i unplug the old drive (c:) the attempt to turn the system on it tries to boot from the cd (which i don't have) and windows 7 won't start.

Further it appears that both drives now have windows 7 installed and if i have both plugged in, upon startup it asks what software i would like to run "windows 7" or "windows 7, " after a 20 second countdown it starts up normally. This is more of an annoyance than a show stopper because it adds about 20 seconds every time i start the system.

Any ideas on how to fix the issue? I will try reinstalling windows 7. If that doesn't work my next thought is to burn the digital installer to a cd, unplug the old drive and when it prompts to load from cd to try the burned disk.

Disk Boot Failure Insert System Disc

I have recently built a new i7 920 computer with new components such as motherboard (ga ex58 ud3r) and new sata ii hdd. The sata is connected to one of the many sata ports with a sata cable. There are also two gsata ports but not sure whether the hdd is supposed to be connected to it. A dvd drive is connected with a 'ribbon' connector to the motherboard but not sure whether it should be connected with the end connector or the middle connector (the ribbon wire has 3 connectors, one connected to the motherboard and one to the dvd with one spare connector).

I have windows 7 home premium upgrade as i have a key for vista. The bios detects that a hdd and dvd drive are present (hdd as ide master 1 and dvd as ide slave 4). I set the bios to boot from cd-rom, however there is no option for dvd-rom. I insert the windows 7 home premium upgrade dvd and reboot the computer. However, i still get the "disk boot failure, insert system disc" message. Is this because i cant boot from an upgrade dvd or that it is still not booting from the dvd?

File Boot Bcd Missing 0xc000000d

When i try to boot, with the dvd drive empty, with windows7 home premium disk or the repair disk as per instructions, i receives an error message of: file:bootbcd missing. Status: 0xc000000d. Info: the windows boot configuration data file is missing required information. I loaded windows 7 with this same drive and initially everything was working correctly. Then this problem began, the drive is working with all of my other disk. Changed the the statup boot cycle to the hard-drive, and this system starts right up?

History: i had had problems with using the upgrade, i would lose everything but the background on startup, so i formatted the hard drive and then loaded the full version of windows 7, from the upgrade disk. The problem mentioned began then.

If the file is actually missing , why will it work with the hard drive, and yet not with the disk drive?

Bootmgr Missing

I'm getting the bootmgr missing error upon startup. The pc in question is the family computer and is only 2 months old, but was experiencing severe slowdown from corrupted files, in order to solve this, my brother tried to reinstall windows 7, but simply added another version of the os. So upon startup, we had to choose which windows 7 we wanted. I restored the computer to factory settings using the startup disks that came with it, and now i am getting the bootmgr error.

I changed the boot settings to run the install disk first, and attempted to repair windows 7 with that, but it tells me it cannot be automatically repaired. And when i click on the "repair my computer" the box from which i should select the operating system to repair is empty.

Error Bootmgr Is Missing

Well heres the story i have win 7 on my desktop, when i had to activate it i had to use the phone to. It wouldn't go through the internet well. When i did activate it. A program messed up my whole boot process well not the boot process but would give errors constantly. Well i did the system restore. Fixed it then it was un activated, so i used the phone again to activate it. Since the internet didn't go through. Like can i run the install again and repair it? Yes it sucks if i would have to install win 7 again but im trying to avoid it.

Error Code - 2 - System Cannot Find The File Specified

Error copying to external drive: error code 2 "system cannot find the file specified" i've been trying to perform a mirror style backup to my external drive of everything in c:users. First of all i tried using robocopy (my preferred tool) with the command line running as administrator and that failed after copying a few hundred files. It came up with error code 2, system cannot find the file specified. I used robocopy c:users h:ackup_win7 /b /m /e /dcopy:t /r:0 /xj

I then tried using the freeware tool fbackup, this also managed to copy a few hundred files before getting stuck in the same way (at a different point).

Finally, i tried picking one set of folders (pictures) and doing a manual copy/paste into the destination directory, this also failed after copying a few hundred files with an error about not finding the file.

The actual files it fails on are nothing special, just regular jpg. If i create a simple test.txt on the drive it works fine. The problem only seems to occur with large numbers of files being copied and where it actually fails seems to depend on which tool i use to copy the files.

Each time this problem occurs my system goes into meltdown with massive cpu usage and then windows won't let me dismount the drive as it insists something is still trying to do something with it.

The only way out is to restart the computer. I've tried running chkdsk /r on the external drive (a seagate freeagent 1tb drive via usb 2) and no errors were found. The drive in question worked perfectly with xp sp3 for several months and has no problems reading from files in windows 7, just this writing issue. I've also tried turning off all services with msconfig, but that just meant that the external drive wouldn't mount at all.

My system is an athlon 64 x2 5600+ running at 2. 9ghz, with 4gb of ddr2 800 on a msi k9n v3 motherboard and an nvidia 8500 gt graphics card. The source disk is a 300gb hitachi sata drive. Overall system performance (aside from this issue) seems very good. I'm using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, installed from a clean install after xp was previously on the disk.

Delete File In System Volume Information

I had a hardware failure last week, which resulted in a new installation of windows 7. However i'm left with a 220gb file in system volume information on a storage drive.

I'd like to delete it, but i don't have permission, nor do i seem to be able to give myself permission to do it.

It's likely the result of a previous backup - however i have subsequently changed my backup procedure and i'm absolutely sure that this does not contain any data that i would like preserved.

Given that it's such a large file, i want it gone.

Live File System Burning Problem

I had a problem with windows 7 home premium & live file system burning. Slow burning and reduced dvd disc capacity - see orig post below. This is not an uncommon problem and is windows 7 related - it is a universal disk format file system driver issue. There is a hotfix available - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975617. See issue 3. It worked.

"I burn slowly at 500k and approx. 1gb will "fill" a 4. 7gb dvd. I've updated drivers, bios, motherboard chipset drivers, burner firmware and installed a new burner. Nero burns fine as does a mastering burn. Dvd+r & dvd-r discs are affected. Dvd-rw burn fast and with no problems. I have done a clean install of windows 7 and applied updates, yet i have the same problem. There is no av or other software running - just windows 7. All drivers are windows certified afaik. No usb devices either.

If i do a clean install of vista sp2 business on the same machine, there is no problem and i can burn live file system dvd discs on any media at >3mb/sec and get full disc capacity. So it's definitely windows 7 related. "

Now i've got a repair cd and i went into command prompt and typed in bootrec/fixboot and all the other bootrec repair methods but here is the kicker, now my product key doesn't work. And whenever i replace the key i get the bootmgr compression error again. Is there something i can do short of uninstalling 7, because i've already done that but it still pops up after setup is done reinstalling it.
