Error - A Required Cd/dvd Drive Device Driver Is Missing

Windows 7 upgrade ultimate 64bit from windows vista home premium 64bit - error with "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. I can see many posts for this problem, but the different solutions all confuse me. I am not a pc techie. I was trying to run windows 7 64bit ultimate upgrade from windows vista 64bit home premium on my pc. Before i ran windows 7 upgrade using the 64bit disk i bought from a retailer in sheffield england, i checked on the microsoft website and downloaded windows upgrade advisor.

This reported a number of minor issues, which i dealt with. It did not report any issue with my motherboard or cd/dvd device. I also downloaded easy transfer, but as i had recently rebuilt my pc i did not have many files to copy over so i have not yet used it. I have now rolled back the install, after getting very frustrated trying to obtain the "driver"some of the postings on the web suggest:buying an external usb cd/dvd device. I might do this and try again getting an update for ite it8211 ata/atapi controller driver - whatever that means usb install option involving ripping the disk into a iso image and then making a bootable usb stick.

Why on earth do i need to do this? Surely using a usb external dvd/cd device and putting into that the windows 7 upgrade disk will do the same job?More important what is an iso image? How do i create it? Why should i have to do this? This software has cost me gbp180. 00 when i bought it from currys retail store sheffield uk w/c jun 21st 2010, and i cannot get it to work. It is not at all satisfactory! I deliberately waited till now before buying to make sure a all the bugs were ironed out!

Obviously they are not!My pc was bought new from mesh in may 2009 and the build detail is:mesh desktop pc model xgs pii 955amd phenom ii x4 955 black quad core processor am3 3. 20ghz, 8mb cache ddr2/3asus m4a78-e mainboard amd 790gx hybrid crossfirex - am2+ phenom ii, ddr2- atx8192mb 800mhz dual channel ddr2 sdram2 x 750gb serial ata2 hard drive with 3mb buffer (1. 5tb) raid 0 configuration (stripe)samsung 22x dual layer dvd writer super format +r/-r/rw/ram this shows in device hardware as tsstcorp cddvdw sh-s223b scsi cdrom device.

The driver is located in c:windowssystem32driverscdrom.sys1gb ati hd4890 graphics accelerator hd 3300 gpu - hybrid crossfire xpcie gigabit lan controller featuring ai net 2 - asus m4a78 proi will also try to call microsoft support on 0844 800 2400 using access code 1233 when prompted. However, i wonder if anyone else who has had the same problem with a similar machine can advise how they sorted out the issue.

Hard Drive Missing In My Computer But Visible In Device Manager

Hard drive missing in "my computer" but installed and visible in device manager. I have just purchased and configured a new computer, intel core i5 processor and asus p7p55d le motherboard with windows 7 64 bit home premium. I have 2 hard drives, 1 250 gig sata drive and 1 500 gig sata drive.
Windows is installed on the 500 gig drive.

In the bios i see both hard drives, in device manager i see both hard drives but in "my computer" the hard drive is missing, which means that i have no use of it. It is there as a scratch disk for the adobe suite of programs. I have tried to physically unplug the drive and re-install it, i have uninstalled it in device manager. I am at a loss why i cannot use this drive, does anyone know how to resolve this?

Required Cd/dvd Drive Device Driver Is Missing

Cannot install windows 7 64bit dvd from boot (a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing". I have a unmodified gateway computer model gm5632e utilizing the g33 express chipset from intel. I purchased windows 7 64-bit from a store and tried installing it. Every time i get to the setup it gives the generic error: "load driver, a required cd/dvd drive. Device driver is missing". I cant get anywhere else in the setup. I understand that there may be an issue with the sata drivers. I am also sure im not the only one with this problem. Any help is much much appreciated.

Setup Hangs - Required Cd/dvd Drive Device Driver Is Missing

Windows 7(ultimate) setup hangs: "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, cd, dvd, or usb flash drive, please insert it now. " First my hardware i'm trying to get installed:

Gigabyte ga-ma790fxt-ud5p
4 wd5000aaks sata 500gb drives configured as raid5 connected to the sb750

When i start the setup, everything is fine until i hit "install now". Afterwards i'm delighted with 5-10 min. Of "setup is starting", which is followed by "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, cd, dvd, or usb flash drive, please insert it now. "

After that i provide the "ahcix64s.sys" which is the proper sb750 raid driver.

I tried the versions from: http://america. Giga-byte.com/filelist/driver/motherboard_driver_raid_amd_sb7xx_bootdisk_win7-64bit.exe

And the one from amd: https://a248. E. Akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2. Ati.com/drivers/whql_sb7xx_raid_vista_3. 1. 1540. 127.zip

Both with the same result: "no device could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media"

Just a side note: i'm installing from a usb flash drive, which has worked already, when i connect a single sata drive in ide mode to the gigabyte sata chip (jmb322); however this is not my desired config, i need to run the system from the raid.

Error - "driver Is Missing" In Device Manager For Hp Printer

Original title: driver error message on device and drivers page for hp 309a multi function printer, i keep getting an alert message on my device manager showing an error for my multi function hp 309a printer. I have reinstalled the hp solutions software, and the software when downloading recognizes the pc is running windows 7. Furthermore, the printer works perfectly using wireless connection, when i print to it from word, for example. I keep seeing a yellow triangle on my pc device manager icon which suggests the driver is missing. How can it be missing when it is working correctly?

Missing Cd/dvd Device Driver

Win7 x64 boot disk results in "missing cd/dvd device driver ("a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing)". I'm doing a full install (custom) of windows 7 from a nec3520a cd/dvd and a dvd burned from the downloaded (twice) student file for windows 7 x64.

I am unable to get past the point of having "no apparent" driver for my dvd. As stated earlier, after i click "install" on initial screen (this is after the "loading files" screen which runs for a couple of minutes loading win7 files), i get an error screen saying "missing cd/dvd drive driver", then directions to install a disk/dvd/whatever with the driver.

If i just click next, it looks for a driver, doesn't find it, and then offers me a selection menu for different drivers( all of which are blank, there are no drivers listed). I then have an option to "rescan" for updated hardware, i suppose, or "browse" to go find the driver.

I have, and can't get any sort of driver for my nec3520, which i've been using for a couple of years now; it's supported directly by windows built-in drivers. Nec doesn't even provide a driver, for 32 or 64 or anything. I suppose this whole thing has to do with my "custom" install from a bootable dvd of the x64 version, but i can't find any way to get around it.

Hard Drive In Device Manager Can't Be Seen By Computer

Hard drive in "device manager" can't be seen by "computer". I installed a hard drive from a mac as a backup expecting that i could reformat it and it would all work. But, as far as i know, i need to be able to "see" it in computer in order to reformat it. It does show up in device manager. I uninstalled it, rebooted, and it reinstalled automatically, like it should. Still doesn't solve the problem.

Device Manager Error

A while ago, i needed to check on some drivers for an ir device and opened the device manager.
Sometimes, i have to do this regularly, but each and every time i try to open it, i get a message that says, "navigation the web page was canceled. " Then a message pops up that says mmc has stopped working. I am confused as to what is going because all other options/tools in mmc work except device manager. I have searched the internet all over for a solution, but can't seem to find a working one.

Cd/dvd Drive Has Gone Missing

I have a new computer with windows 7 professional 64 bit and everything was fine but now my cd/dvd drive has gone missing. It's nowhere to be found in explorer and if i insert a cd or dvd nothing happens. I tried the troubleshooter but it tells me i don't have a cd/dvd drive. It's also not listed in device manager. I'm a complete non-techie type of person but was wondering if my drive has just gone kaput or maybe one of the leads internally has become disconnected. The computer is only about 3 months old. I have done all the updates that have been recommended. I would love it if someone could give me some ideas about fixing this.

Cannot Access Cd/dvd Drive Missing

Hp dv6646us laptop upgraded to windows 7 - retail version 3 or 4 mos ago just noticed my cd/dvd drive is missing, it is not listed under the device driver i tried several online fixes to no avail. I plugged in my flash drive which is usually drive g and the drive g flash shows up and the cd/dvd drive e, also ! But the drive e (cd/dvd) shows the flash (again) as the subdirectory.

The usb flash drive works fine and is accessible but even though the drive e (cd/dvd) shows up in the device manager (when my flash is plugged in) i can not access the cd in the drive i am somewhat computer literate but afraid to mess with too much that i don't know anything about.

Usb Hub Displaying As Device In Device Manager

Pretty much all my device connected to my usb hub used to show in device manager as separate devices. However, they now only show under the name "kevin o'connor" (the name of my zune). Open the device's properties and going to the hardware tab will show all the device connected via the usb hub.

Therefore, all the devices do in fact work, it's just a little bothersome to me, and the fact that i can't safely remove anything from the hub without having to eject the entire hub. Here's a screen shot that shows what the hub shows as: http://i34. Tinypic.com/34fxmp4.png

Cd-dvd Drive Missing Or Not Visible In Computer

Latest version of cdrom.sys driver is correctly installed and detected in "device manager". Reinstalling is not helping. High-low filters solution does not apply. Filter are not present. When opening the key with regedit. Window 7 automatic troubleshooter detect the problem with the statement "the drive is not assigned a drive letter" but cannot assign a new letter.

"Computer management" detects the cd drive but the drive letter is missing and the assignment a new one is not allowed: when trying to assign a new drive letter manually, the new letter assigned shows in the screen for about one second and immediately disappears again. Different drive letters have been tried in case standard "e" could be somehow locked by some other software or virtual disk.

Using "computer management" i can mount the cd drive it in a folder in other hard drive and explore/operate cd contents without problem. I am using this for the time being as a temporary solution for having access to information in my cds/dvds. This is happening in asus k52jr laptop with windows 7 home premium-64. Dvd-cd driver is a hitachi hl-dt. St dvdram gt30n.

Cd/dvd-rom Drive Device Drivers

So i'm trying to reinstall windows 7 after a long and bloody struggle with my motherboard (long story short, went to the field, sata controller died, got new sata controller, found out i might have possibly wiped my primary hdd, no backup) and after the "setup is starting. " Screen, it asks me for cd/dvd-rom device drivers. Seeing as i'm using a win7 disc to boot from, and it clearly read it enough to get here, and i highly doubt they even make cd-rom drive drivers anymore, i'm at a loss.
And for the record, the drive is a liteon ihos204 bd-rom. No other cd/dvd/bd-rom drives, either.
Thoughts? Opinions?

Boot Manager Is Missing

I'm having the same problem as others with the boot manager is missing error. I format my hard drive before every installation, but the only way that i can boot into windows is if i keep the system disc in the cd drive. If i remove the disc from the cd drive, i get this boot mgr missing error.

Microsoft has never built an os that performs, is stable, and has no errors. Why is microsoft so popular, when their operating systems quite obviously suck! I have a custom build, can't call anyone for support, and microsoft won't back the garbage that they sell with free support, why, because for one thing, they don't can't fix their own garbage, and for another thing, they are always overwhelmed with all the errors from their garbage. They've been building this garbage for years, when are they going to get one right?

Computer Shows Usb Device Is Connected When It Is Not

Recently i started up my computer and plugged in my ipod to charge it (as usual). The charging worked fine, but a window popped up saying that it failed to install the proper software. It also started looping the sound played when it finds a new usb device, despite the fact that my ipod had remained plugged in and apparently connected the whole time.

Naturally, i unplugged my ipod. The computer kept giving me the generic error message (device software was not installed, or whatever; no specific error number), as well as playing the sound every 10 seconds or so. I tried restarting my computer, to no avail.

When i look in my device manager, it shows that there is two unknown devices present. But there is nothing connected to my usb drives. I tried uninstalling the unknown devices; the sound continues to play, and after a minute or so the unknown devices reappear in my device manager. I also tried uninstalling all of my usb root hubs, but this did nothing: the sound kept playing and the unknown devices reappeared.

I'm out of ideas and i haven't been able to find any info on the internet pertaining to this problem.

My computer is an hp pavilion dv3t-2000, running windows 7 home premium 64-bit. Also present in my usb controllers menu is:

 - Intel(r) ich9 family usb universal host controller - 2934 through 2938
 - Intel(r) ich9 family usb2 enhanced host controller - 293a and 293c
 - Usb root hub (x5)

Let me know if you need any more details on my set-up. I'm no pro with this computer stuff, but i'm relatively able, in most cases, given the right support to refer to.

No Monitor Showing In Device Manager

I have a hannspree 28" monitor with an hdmi connection to an asus radeon 4890 graphics card. This set-up works fine in vista ultimate 32 bit in the screens default resolution of 1920 x 1200.
Ever since i installed windows 7 64 bit, in a dual boot scenario, i have been unable to get win 7 working correctly in normal mode, it works in safe mode but only at 1600 x 1200.

If i attempt a start in normal then the boot sequence stalls however i can open win 7 in normal if i remove the radeon 4890 from the display adapter element in the device manager. Win 7 installs the re-installs the 4890 but i can not get the correct resolution. With the latest ati drivers installed in the card there is no monitor showing in the device manager at all.

Disable Button In Device Manager Greyed Out

I am trying to disable a device in device manager of windows 7 64-bit pro. But the button is greyed out and in the drop down list (if i right click on the device) the option to disable is also not available. Is there a way to get that option back?

This is for the touchpad of my sony laptop. I want to use a little software i found that can automatically enable/disable the touchpad depending on the presence of an external mouse. But this software wants to disable the touchpad. But it can't because the option is missing from device manager.

Load Driver - A Required Cd/dvd Drive Driver Is Missing

I tried to do fresh install of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit version (pls don't recommend 32 bit, as 64 bit support is the main reason for me to switch to win7) on my home pc and installer is requesting for additional driver. I've seen similar problems in other forum threads, however responses does not really help me.

My hw configuration is:
Msi p35 platinum + q6600 + 4 gb ram + few sata hdds + nvidia geforse 9800 gtx, i've downloaded all latest drivers from msi site. I even manage to extract drivers, which require installation (such as all inf drivers, etc). However, windows installer is rejecting all drivers (it allows to select driver but throwing "no new driver found" message after i press "next" button).

So, here is summary of my biggest frustration:
1. Why windows 7 installer rejects all latest drivers?
2. Why windows 7 upgrade advisor is saying that all devices on my computer are windows 7 compatible (on 64 bit report)
3. Why windows 7 installer does not mention device which requires new driver?
4. If microsoft is planning to run qa on its customers i'd like to get my fees!

Bsod When Opening System Items, Device Manager, Msconfig

I am encountering bsod errors when trying to open any item on the "system" control panel menu, the device manager, and when trying to open msconfig (among others). The following is a description of events leading up to the bsod errors:

1. I decide to upgrade to windows 7 pro from xp. My xp system has worked flawlessly for years. All hardware is working normally and is compatible with windows 7.

2. Windows 7 is installed on a freshly reformatted drive. Drivers and software are installed. All windows updates are applied. Everything is working perfectly and i can freely open device manager, any item in "system, " and msconfig etc. I have not attempted any 'tinkering' yet.

3. First bsod. I decide to edit pagefile.sys by turning off windows control and setting it to a custom size of 4096mb-4096mb. Windows immediately bsods. I restart and find that i can't access any of the windows system tools listed above and decide to reformat and start over (it was a new install and i had nothing to lose).

4. Windows 7 is installed as per step 3. I give pagefile.sys a wide berth and let windows handle it. I decide to perform some maintenance by disabling extraneous programs loading at startup using the program regseeker. I only disable unimportant things like adobe updating tools and the games platform steam etc. I open msconfig to confirm that the disabled startup programs have been disabled. Immediate bsod follows. I restart and find that opening "system" items, msconfig, and device manager all cause immediate bsod. In fact, i can't even right-click on my computer and select "manage" without causing a bsod.

All i can do at the moment is browse the internet and use other simple productivity programs. I can no longer 'tinker' without risking a bsod. I have tried using system restore to various earlier points. None work - i still experience the same symptoms. I have run memory tests on my memory.

I have not tried reseting my hardware because there is no reason to suspect they that have come loose (xp worked for years). I have not tried uninstalling and reinstalling hardware drivers, as i hope for someone to interpret my minidumps for me so that i can troubleshoot intelligently. I can provide said minidumps via the preferred method of anyone who can help.
