Win 7 Fails To Detect 2nd Monitor On Boot

Clean install of win7 with ati radeon hd4550 pci express graphics card. Running a mitsubishi diamond plus 100e monitor and a sony multiscan 500ps monitor, both off the 4550 card. On boot, the primary (mitsubishi) monitor is detected and the second (sony) monitor is not. I can open the control panel for screen resolution and see both monitors correctly identified. If i select extend these displays, windows re-labels the sony monitor as generic pnp and the sony monitor then activates and works properly.

As soon as i shut down the computer and reboot, the sony monitor is again undetected and i have to go through the whole process again. I have deleted all ati drivers and reinstalled current catalyst drivers (8. 732, 5/26/2010), as well as current motherboard drivers. (Motherboard is gigabyte ma790gp-ds4h). Integrated graphics card on motherboard is currently disabled, although this made no difference to the problem.

Cannot Detect 2nd Hdmi Tv Display

I had a vga display as my primary display and a hdtv display via a hdmi cable as a second display hooked up to my computer. This worked fine until a month ago. When at first the picture showed only a zoomed in top left hand corner of the screen on my hdtv with all psychedelic colours the first thing i tried was a roll back of the updates but this had no effect, as dis changing the cable. Then when i changed the graphics card windows 7 stopped being able to 'detect' my second display with either card.

Any ideas or solutions would be most helpful?

Dual Monitor Problem - 2nd Monitor Detected Black

Ok, so i have a dell that was running vista and two monitors. When i upgraded to windows 7 pro i ran into the infamous black screen problem and fixed it. However, i only fixed my main monitor. When i open the display window, both of my monitors are detected but my secondary monitor shows a black screen and the monitor itself says there is no signal detected from my pc.

The strange thing is my pc thinks its working (i can drag a window from my working monitor towards the black one and it moves out of my working monitor into the black screen). I currently have both of them plugged in using a dvi to vga splitter and i have also updated the drivers by clicking the "update driver" button in the monitor properties window. Please help if you can!

Win7 Will Not Detect Second Monitor

I have a pc running windows 7 professional and windows vista ultimate with a dual boot setup. I have two screens pluged into an nvidia gts 8800 video card. The first screen is an hp 22" lcd which is plugged directly into one of the two dvi outputs on the video card. The second screen is a sharp 52", 1080p hdtv which is plugged into the second dvi port on the video card via an hdmi cable plugged into a hdmi to dvi adapter.

Both monitors work perfectly when i boot to windows vista but when i boot to windows 7 the 52" screen is not recognized at all. If i switch the cords plugged into the video card the 52" will work and the 22" will not be detected.

Win7 Does Not Detect External Monitor

I have just upgraded to win7 home premium 32 on a sony vaio laptop. Previously i was running vista business. I was happily using an lg1512s monitor plugged through the vaio docking station.
Post the win 7 install, my laptop does not recognize the external monitor. I have gone on to the control panel all control panel items-display-screen resolution and the multiple screen dialogue does not appear.

I have with no success:

· Clicked detect in the control panelall control panel itemsdisplayscreen resolution
· Clicked the f7 monitor on/off button.
· Plugged the monitor directly into the vaio (i.e. Not through the docking station)
· Used windows-x and tried to use the mobility centre to connect the external monitor.

Meanwhile i have plugged the monitor into another laptop i use that is running vista home and the monitor lights up so i know the monitor and the cables are ok. The problem is that win7 is not seeing the external monitor. Any ideas?

Monitor Color Calibration Fails

Before anyone tries, the "solution" at -

http://www.Pusztaiphoto.com/articles/colormgmt/win7/default.aspx

- Has been tried, and doesn't work.

On a windows 7 notebook, color calibration fails. Any attempt to set color calibration disappears when the machine hits sleep mode or the screen goes blank from the screen saver timer.

A color calibration profile using a pantone huey has been created, but any attempt to set this as the system's default color profile through windows 7 color management fails. Updating display drivers makes no difference. Uninstalling and reinstalling the display drivers makes no difference.

The notebook uses a mobile intel 965 chipset.

Win 7 Fails To Boot Fully

My windows 7 install has started failing to boot fully. It is now stopping at the animated windows flag screen just prior to loading the desktop. I have tried the normal fixes like booting with the install disk and trying to 'repair installation'. This will find the correct install but i cannot get any further than that screen as i get the wait cursor and cannot hit the next button. I have tried the restore last known good configuration to no avail also. I have not added any new hardware or software recently and have not updated any drivers recently either. The machine is up to date on patching.

Win 7 Fails To Boot - Autochk Program Not Found, Skipping Autocheck

A couple weeks ago, i bought a new 7200rpm hard drive for my laptop to replace the 5400rpm one it came with. Cloned the disk, stuck it in. This laptop had a windows vista 32 bit partition, a windows 7 64 bit partition, and an extended partition with several linux ext3 partitions. I had kept vista around in case i needed to use something that didn't have 64 bit drivers (mostly just ti connect), but now that i had two copies of it (i haven't yet reformatted the old drive) i figured last weekend that i'd delete the vista partition on the new drive and extend my 7 partition backwards to reclaim some space.

I knew that some of the boot files were on the vista partition, and sure enough it didn't boot after deleting that partition so after i deleted it i ran the windows 7 system recovery to install the boot files to the 7 partition. Rebooted, so far so good. Then i tried to extend the partition leftward to fill in the space that the vista partition used, but after rebooting i keep getting this error:

"Autochk program not found, skipping autocheck"

After which it seems to blue-screen for a split second before rebooting. The files are more or less all there, from what i can tell. I've tried using system recovery from the 7 install disk to no avail. It just says no problems found. Any ideas what could be causing this problem? A lot of results online mention security software like norton causing this problem, but i've never used any of the programs mentioned. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Worst case though, i'll just re-clone the old hard drive and then copy over the documents i edited in the intermediate two weeks.

Win7 Loses Second Monitor After Boot

I just installed windows 7 pro (x64) on my machine with two monitors using a nvidia geforce gtx 260 with dual dvi ports. When my machine starts to boot, post all the way up to the windows logo displays on my dell monitor, and when the login prompt comes up it is on my acer monitor (my primary display). After login, my acer display works great, but my dell monitor doesn't
Exist at all as far as windows is concerned.

Ive gone into the nvida control panel and clicked "setup multiple displays" but i cant as it only sees my acer. I go to device manager, but it only sees one monitor as well.considering the dell is displaying post, as well as windows logo that displays during windows boot, i'd guess that both the bios and windows see the monitor, but something happens right about when it requests a user login. Any ideas?

Monitor Shut Off After Boot Screen

Can't believe i have to ask this problem again, previously my problem is my screen gets lower resolution when windows supposed to shows login screen (honestly it's remain unsolved) now my monitor suddenly just turn off when windows supposed to shows login screen (even though i can clearly hear the login screen's sound. )

It works fine after i press the power button to power up my laptop, the monitor showing bios & windows boot screen, but after that my monitor just turn off. Even when i'm performing clean boot (disable all startup items and disable other than microsoft services via msconfig) this problems still remains.

The only thing i could do it's just press the power button to shut down my laptop improperly then press the power button again to power up, then the problem's gone. Why this problem come on my 1st boot, suddenly gone in 2nd boot and sometime happens again when i'm trying to restart or power up again after shutting down my laptop from my 2nd boot?

Need to upgrade my graphic driver? Already have the newest version

Monitor Goes Directly In Sleep Mode On Boot Up

I bought a computer last week online (had it built from a popular site that i've used before). The computer worked fine for a few days. Last night, in the middle of playing a game, it crashed or something. Upon reboot, the monitor went directly into power saving mode. I thought my old monitor was t he problem, so i bought a new monitor. Same thing. When i turn it on, the monitor goes right into sleep mode. Maybe once out of every 20 or 30 reboots it will actually boot up, or i can spam f8 and get it to boot into safe mode.

I read online to turn off all the power-saving options. So i did (and i also installed the new monitor driver from the disc while i was able to do so). Rebooted. Same  problem. Every time i boot up, all i see is a black screen and the monitor goes right into power saving mode, hitting f8 does nothing, no normal boot screens even appear. The boot up "beep" never sounds off, and the fan seems to die down very quickly as well. Whats really confusing is that it worked fine for like 5 days. Then poof there's some kind of conflict.

Maybe the onboard video card is turned on in the bios or something? I don't know cause i cant even get that far. Booting up gets me to a sleeping monitor every time. Anyone got any ideas? These are the exact parts i am working with: amd phenom ii x2 550 dual-core cpu4gb ddr2-800 pc6400ati radeon hd5750 1gb single cardasus m4a785-m amd785g hybrid crossfire chipset power supply 600 watt windows 7 (64 bit)

2nd Email Account

I've sent up my first comcast email account without any issues. I've then created another identity on the computer and tried to set up my second comcast email account but have run into this problem. It tells me i'm successful but when it tries to send or receive email i get a "logon to mail.comcast.net box asking for my user name and password. I type in what i think my user name for my second account is but it still won't "authorize" to get or send emails.

Activating On A 2nd Computer

I upgraded from vista to 7 on a laptop. Several features were lost so i want to go back to vista. With that i'm ok with. I have a desktop i need to reinstall windows onto (hd died and i am replacing it so no os on it right now). I originally bought vista for it and was using vista on it before it crashed. Windows 7 is compatible with all the hardware and software for the desktop.

If i reinstall vista on the laptop (and no longer using my purchased copy of windows 7), can i install the windows 7 on the desktop now? I guess what i am asking is, since i installed my copy of win 7 and used the key on the laptop, will ms know that i am no longer using the os on the laptop so i can use the same key on the desktop? Do i have to somehow unregister win 7 from the laptop before reinstalling vista, so i can install it on the desktop?

Win 7 Installing For 2nd Pc

I need some help how to activate my windows 7 home edition. I built a new computer all the hardwares are brand new in it. When i wanted to activate the windows it just doesn't accept the product key. I heard that if i install the windows for a new pc the activation can be issue because the product key is already hangs on (or belongs to) the first pc where i installed the windows first. But i didn't believe that can be true. So each time when i upgrade my pc or something breaks in it should i buy a new product key or the disc again ? Any idea what could i do ?

Missing A Partition On 2nd Drive

I purchased a new w7 pc. I added the hd from my old pc as a second drive. This hd had been partitioned to a c, e and f drive. However, i can only see the old c & e partitions (now with drive letters e & f). I can't see the old f drive which contained all my burned cd's. The entire hd is 160gb and windows explorer shows the e&f drives equaling about 150gb, which would be correct with the typical loss of some gb's. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what i can do to see the old f drive? Thank you.

Cannot Move Windows From One Monitor To Other - Dual Monitor Setup

I have two monitors of the same resolution connected to an ati radeon hd 4300/4500 video card. In windows 7 extended mode i see a full working desktop on one monitor, but only the background picture on the other - the four-square flag motif again a blue background with wispy lines, butterfly etc.

No taskbar, icons or anything else. On one occasion briefly the mouse cursor appeared on it instead of on the full desktop image. If i try to drag a window on to the second monitor it won't go there. The settings are landscape with two mointors "1" and "2". I have two images but how can i use the second one?

Cannot Detect Wireless Connection

I have a wireless modem set up and other laptops in my house can get a signal but my own personal laptop cannot. The wireless network list on my computer shows that the network is detected and that i am connected. Despite this, the signal comes in and out and tends to be very weak. The signal on the bottom right shows full bars so the signal is supposedly very good but somehow i cannot get on the internet. I have tried multiple websites and the message that internet explorer cannot open the web page comes up.

Dual Boot Boot Problem After Resizing Win 7

Boot problem on dual boot after resizing windows 7 (32bit) switched from drive w: to drive g: i have a dual boot system that boots into win 7 (64) (c:drive) or win 7 (32) (w:drive). I needed to increase the size of win7 (64) drive and in order to do so i needed to move the win 7 (32) partition. Now i can still boot into win 7 (64) with no problem but when i boot into win 7 (32) it windows states that it is not a genuine copy and it is actually on drive "g:"! Anyway to change it back to "w:" because i believe this is the problem.

Dual Boot - Move Boot Image To Second Drive

I have a problem with two different drives both running win7, one 32 the other drive64, on a dual boot system. I want to pull the win32 drive, but it also has my boot information for the win64 drive. When removed it will not boot. I have been working on this for 5-6 weeks. I want to remove the win7/32 and put the boot image of win7/64 on the second drive.

I booted from the win764 install dvd, and went to there pair your computer. The placethat displays the operating systems installed, none will show. I have tried bootsect from the command prompt. It seems to work, but tells me no partition on the second drive. Or on another attribute used, it can not find the path to the drive. I have tried rebuild bcd, fixmbr, etc.

Boot Takes Minutes, Will Boot In Safe Mode

When i booted up this arvo, the computer took 15 minutes to get to the log in screen. Upon clicking the profile image, i had to wait another 5 minutes of unresponsiveness for even the desktop background to display. Rebooted 3-4 times, still happened, booted in safe mode, (which is how i'm writing this) and initially thought it was msmpeng.exe that was causing me issues, so i removed mse once i finally managed to get it going in normal mode. I thought the problem was fixed when i rebooted, and i had about 4-5 minutes of normal speeds before it slowed right down and became unresponsive.

When the computer is running, the actual computer itself sounds fine (hard disk is chattering away) but when going slow and unresponsive it only makes noises every 1-2 seconds, if that makes any sense, as if it's under a really heavy load. Hard to tell because i cant open anything. Ran a system restore, didn't do anything. I need help soon! I suspect a driver issue, but i'm just speculating. Specs: windows 7 home premium 64 bit 6gig ddr3 ram i7-860 cpu ati 5770 gpu

Applications Cannot Detect Dvd Drive

I am having trouble with my cdvd burner, as no applications on my computer recognize the drive at all. The hardware was working fine and was displayed under a list of burners in applications like cyberlink dvd, nero, windows iso burner, windows media player; now it is not displayed at all. I constantly get error messages that "no burners were detected" or to "connect a burner and restart the [windows media] player. " The drive does however appear in windows explorer and i am able to play dvd's from it (although i believe these are stored in a temporary cache).

I have already attempted to reinstall the driver from "device manager dvd/cd-rom drives hp dvd rw ad-7581s ata device" but this had failed. I have also run the online "playing and burning cds dvds and bds" troubleshooted from microsoft; it finds no problems, probably since it did not actually burn any data to test it. I've also downloaded the mats_run. Dvd.exe which supposedly fixes the problem automatically, this just downloaded massive amounts of data and went to the above troubleshooter. I am not able to burn dvds and no applications even detect i can.

Macbook Does Not Detect Wireless Network

Window 7 installed on macbook - does not detect any wireless network/connection at all only on windows os system side. I have installed windows 7 on my new macbook, so my macbook operate both on apple macos and windows os. However, my windows os side does not detect any wireless network at all. When i switch back to apple os, there is no problem connecting to the internet and there is no connection problem at all.

But for some reason, my windows 7 does not detect or show any available wireless network. I use linksys wrt-110, and i don't think it is my router problem because it works perfectly on apple macos system. Does anybody have any solution? I am not very tech-savvy, i.e. , I need step-by-step explanation as to how to tackle this.

System Wont Detect Cds

After performing a clean install of windows 7 pro my computer wont detect music cds. It will play movies with its corresponding audio. But it wont play regular music cds originals, burned or from any file extension of music cds it wont just detect that the cd is loaded in the cd rom tray.

I already tried  windows trouble shouting and nothing. Checked file extension association and everything appears to be in order. I also ran drm. Also perform cd, dvd region check. Lastly i also perform a system check from the windows command prompt and found nothing either.

Anybody have any other ideas?

Win 7 Does Not Detect Sdhc Memory Card

Just got a new hp elitebook 6930p computer with integrated sd card reader with ricoh r/rl/5c476(ii) card bus controller. I have used my 4gb verbatim sdhc memory cards successfully in my old xp machine (hp nc 4-thousand something) with a sdhc update from microsoft.

The problem is that windows 7 does not detect my sdhc card when inserted. I suspected something similar what i needed to do in xp, but i am unable to find new drivers or similar sw patches.

I tried to uninstall smart card reader from windows device manager along with all usb controllers (as instructed in an article in this forum), then rebooting (thus updating usb stack), but without luck.

I also got usbdeview sw to see what is happening. It seems that that device (usb 2. 0 flash disk usb device) is not connected, drive letter seems fine (g:, no conflicts), device is enabled (and it does not help if i disable and then enable it again). What i should do to have windows 7 support sdhc cards?
