Java Compatibility With Ie8

Suddenly when i access a chat forum that i've been using for some time it tells me that it "requires a java compatible web browser to run" i am not aware that any settings have changed. On the tools/internet options/advanced tab the java (sun) box is ticked as before. The tools/internet options/ security is set to medium as before. I have checked that java is still installed on my pc, and when i tried to download it again it told me that it was already installed. Any thoughts as to what i can try next?

Ie8 Is Not Working With Java

I have windows 7. My ie8 is not working on java enabled site. But while using firefox, java starts and work fine. At the same time, under 'manage add-on's java is listed and says enabled. I have the latest version of sun java installed. What i noticed is, java applet is not listed under this category. I could see many people written about this java applet problem in this forum.

So i doubt if that is the issue. I have done all other trouble shooting steps like, security, privacy options, uninstall and re install and even disable antivirus, user account control, windows firewall installed. But nothing helps. Since the site works with firefox, it is sure about ie 8 issue.

Compatibility Between Ms Office Project Web Access 2003 And Ie8

Compatibility between microsoft office project web access 2003 (sp3) and ie8 on windows 7. My organization will upgrade all the client desktop computer from xp (sp2) to windows 7 (64-bit) with office 2010 (32-bit) and ie8 by the end of this year. Our group is currently using project server 2003 (sp3) with sql server 2005 (sp3).

I would like to know if the current configuration of client - project professional 2003 and pwa 2003 (sp3) - will be compatible with the new windows 7 environment. In the official microsoft windows 7 compatibility site, project professional 2003 is certified as "compatible", but no information on pwa. I also concerned about pwa and ie8 compatibility. I wonder if anyone knows if pwa2003 can work with ie8 on windows7?

Why Is Java Under Program Files?

I have moved on from discussing whether the java files under the windows folders are virus/trojan, because i have scanned them and they are the same size as those under the program files folders. My question now is why does java appear under both folders? Ihave java files under:1) program files2) program files (x86)3) windowssystem324) windowssyswow64 i've been told that java will install under both program files and program files (x86) because there are 32-bit and 64-bit versions. But that doesn't explain why there are files under the windows folders.

Java Script And Adobe Flash

I know that this problem has been around awhile, but i have tried all the fixes and i will go insane if i have to uninstall/install falsh one more time. I can't even run tutorial videos for matlab!  This is the error i get:

"The camtasia studio video content presented here requires javascript to be enabled and the latest version of the macromedia flash player. If you are you using a browser with javascript disabled please enable it now. Otherwise, please update your version of the free flash player by downloading here"

I have uninstalled falsh using adobe unistall and i've updated flash using "%systemroot%system32macromedflash".

Is there a detailed process to go through so i can get flash to work?

It's flash version 10. 0. 12. 36  and java version 1. 6. 0. 15.

Java Checker, Jucheck.exe

I just got this new computer and it is running w7 (64 bit) with mcafee virus software. I am getting this message that i have java update available. When click on the icon i get the following message "do you want the following program from unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?" The file name is jucheck.exe and the publisher is unknown and location is hard drive, in the details it shows "c:windowssystem32jucheck.exe" -scheduled.

I have read on a few sites that this may be a trojan, is that true? I would assume that if this was a java that it would show the publisher as sun or java. I have been selecting no and i have run mcafee and it found nothing. My concerns are that if this was for java it would give the publisher, right? And why is it in my system32 folder?

Lost Java Control Panel

I've lost the ability to run youtube videos for some reason, i have, also, lost my java control panel in the windows control panel. I tried un-installing adobe flash player 10 active x and java 6 update 18, 32bit, even though i have a 64bit vista op sys, i tried the 64bit ver anyway but with no luck. I am running ie8 which i'm assuming is 32bit as it does not say 64bit. Also, when i go to  ie8/tools/internet options/advanced/settings  i see no reference to java at all. Even though java seemed to have installed ok. Any ideas on a remedy would be greatly appreciated.

Embedded Iwebbrowser2 Does Not Support Java

I have created an embedded web browser control (using iwebbrowser2) and i have a problem: it doesn't seem to be able to load java. I also tried loading http://www.Javatester.org/version.html , but no version is shown. However, the standalone ie shows it allright.

From what i understand, this is caused by the fact that, unlike standalone ie, iwebbrowser2 still tries to use microsoft jvm, which is no longer in use since the times of xp.

I tried the java workaround of adding java_plugin_webcontrol_enable = true to the environment variables, but it doesn't help at all.

I have vista with ie8, but the same thing happens an all winos >= xp and all ie >= v. 6

How To Run Java Programming Languages On Win 7 ?

How can i run java programming languages & other similar languages like visual basic, c#, c+, .net languages on windows 7. I recently purchased a dell branded laptop. The os deployed on my system is windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I had to use some programming applications like java programming languages, visual basic, c#, c+, and .net languages for my office software purpose.

But i was unable to run these languages as the message that i got while trying to install is that my windows was not compatible with these applications to run. Is there any solution to my problem. I am planning to install windows 7 ultimate, because i got to know that it would run my programming languages. I am not sure if you can assist me to overcome my problem.

Search Java File Type Contents

I am having problems searching my . Java files. I go to the folder the file it is in, type a keyword in the search box, like "system", and it shows there are no files that match my search. When i change the extension to .txt, it finds my files. I have checked the advanced options in index options and the java extension is listed there as checked to be indexed for searching contents and file attributes. I have also checked that my individual file properties are set to allow for indexing of file properties and contents. Is this just a bug or am i missing something? If anyone could help me with this let me know.

Flash Player And Java Plugins Freezing

I am running windows 7 enterprise on my thinkpad x200t tablet. Running adobe flash player for over 20-30 mins in the full screen mode on a big monitor from chrome/firefox (haven't tried ie) causes cpu spike, causing the computer to freeze. Seems like the plugin container process is the one whose cpu usage goes up in these cases. Similar issues with running java applications for an extended period as well. Restarting the computer delays the next onset of the problem, but it comes back every time. I have all the latest drivers (audio/video) as well as the latest versions of the plug-ins and browsers installed.

How To Find Java Runtime In Dos On Windows 7?

This is an extract from my registry:

[Hkey_local_machine\software\javasoft\java runtime environment\1. 6]

"Javahome"="g:\\program files (x86)\\java\\jre6"

Not sure why it is showing the double backslash. I've tried various commands (in batch files), such as the following, without success:

- - - -
@Echo off
Set keyname=software\javasoft\java runtime environment\1. 6
Rem set keyname=hkey_local_machine\software\javasoft\java runtime environment

Set cmd=reg query "%keyname%" /s
For /f "tokens=2*" %%i in ('%cmd% ^| find "javahome"') do set java_home=%%j
Set java_home
Pause
- - - -

I know this can be set manually, but this is not what is needed.

Win 7 64-bit Doesn't Distinguish Between Ie8 64-bit And Ie8 32-bit

Windows 7 64bit doesn't distinguish between ie8 64 bit and ie8 32 bit when attempting to set a default browser using the control panel default programs 'associate' utility. My new windows 7 64 bit pc (luv that i7 920 intel cpu) came installed with both ie8-64 bit and ie8-32 bit (nothing more need be said regarding the absurdity of having to deal with this in the first place - i should have gone with the imac).

Anyway, ie64 bit lacks the flash player cuz adobe hasn't released a 64 bit version yet, per their website. So i can't use ie64 with xm online music stream (et al). Ie32, on the other hand, supports flash player, but won't successfully link to various embedded hypertext links, such as those embedded in an email. My initial solution was to use firefox, which served me well until an application from a local vendor will only work with internet explorer. Sigh.

I've used windows since version 2 back in the 1980s, have become stoic, and can emotionally cope with having to use 3 browsers to get the job done.

However, just for fun, my current burning question is, with two different versions of ie8 (64 bit and 32 bit) installed into windows 7, why doesn't the control panel default applications utility seem to aware of the fact that there are indeed two different versions installed? It lists firefox and internet explorer, but does not differentiate between the two flavors of ie. My goal was to set ie8 64 bit as the default browser temporarily to accommodate the vendor's application.

Fyi, by setting the default, i refer to: control panel | default programs | associate a file type or protocol with a program. Then scroll down to 'http' and click on the change program button. So in my case, firefox and only one instance of internet explorer, with no bit distinction, display as selection options.

Compatibility Check

Attempting to install windows 7 ultimate 64-bit version on sony vaio laptop computer currently running windows vista home premium 64-bit version using the upgade option. Ran the install and got a compatiblity message about adobe acrobat 7. 0 as follows:

"Upgrading windows will affect the following devices and/or programs: these programs might not work properly after the upgrade. We recommend uninstalling these programs before upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, open control panel, and search for "uninstall a program". (Note: programs marked as * can be safely reinstalled after the upgrade. )

Acrobat reader 7:- i uninstalled the software in the manner directed by the message (i.e. Opened control panel, clicked on uninstall programs, clicked on acrobat 7. 0 and clicked on uninstall. The process said "uninstall successful". I then rebooted the computer ran the windows 7 upgrade advisor and everything was "good to go". I tried to install windows 7 again running the compatibility check this time and got the same message (see above).

I went through a full c-drive search (including hidden files) and found all of the files the matched with the search criteria "acrobat*7*. *" Found some files and file folders this way some of which i could delete without a problem, some requried changing the file permission. Eventually i erased anything matching the search criteria.

Reboot, retry to install windows 7 - result: same compatibility message. Allowed the install to continue. Almost three hours later with most of the install complete, got a message "cannot install removing installation files and reloading original operating system" or something to that effect.

Had sony tech support actually on my computer through their internet access trying to fix the problem and they found and erased a few more acrobat files and tried to install windows 7 with similar results. When the install screen hit the same acrobat 7. 0 compatibility flag, the chat i was on with the technician suddenly went dead.

I don't particularly want to play the "just uninstall programs until you get it to go" approach, nor do i want to do a clean install with all the legacy settings and software that is currently installed so.

Has microsoft addressed this with an option to install over the incompatible software (that is not there anyway)? Or are we all stuck wandering in the dark with expensive versions of windows 7 that cannot be used and equally troublesome vista os software.

Anyone out there have any answers or advise?

Iphone Compatibility

Not sure if this is the best spot for this but here goes. I recently installed win 7 ultimate on my machine. Intel p45 mobo, core 2 quad processor, previously ran win xp. I plug in my iphone 3gs and nothing. At all. I am pretty sure it isn't a usb problem since all but one usb peripheral is found. (An external hard drive)  so i start to scour the net because i know surely there has to be a fix. All i find are posts about having a p55 mobo and itunes not syncing.

I have found nothing that is my problem specifically. The more i search the more i am starting to think that neither microsoft or apple are acknowledging/fixing the issue. Someone please tell me i am wrong and just haven't come across the right fix. I can always go back to xp but i would rather not. I have updated to the latest chipset, the latest bios, the latest usb drivers.

Will I Have Compatibility Issue With Mcafee?

We just purchased w7 hp upgrade software. I have a current mcafee protection/subscription. When i install will i have compatibility issues with the w/defender disabling my firewall and auto activating? If i do should i contact mcafee or ms for solutions? I've had these issues with ms "updates", they are a real pain in the neck to deal with. Of course mcafee, wisely, will not say anything negative. I'm looking forward to upgrading and wish to avoid any sidestepping with potential issues.

Compatibility With Adobe Elements 7

I am considering upgrading from windows vista 64 bit to windows 7 64 bit (home version). I ran the compatibility check with windows 7 compatibility on my current software. It appears as though photoshop elements 7 is not compatible. There is a link under "action recommended" that says "get paid upgrade. "

I am looking on the windows compatibility site:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/details.aspx?Type=software&p=adobe%20photoshop%20elements&v=adobe&uid=7&pf=0&pi=0&s=photoshop%20elements%208&os=64-bit

I am translating this information as "elements 7 will not work on windows 7, so here is a free (paid) upgrade to elements 8 through adobe. " Is this correct? Am i missing something? I can not find any information on the adobe site that would suggest this to be true.

Cannot Change Compatibility Mode

I am trying to run an application on a new windows 7 pc. It runs fine with no special settings on an identical windows 7 pc (same model number, same os, same updates to the os). But on the second machine windows will not allow me to change compatibility mode to windows 7. It insists on locking me into other compatibility modes and then greys out the selection to change it back to windows 7. Worse, every time i run the program i have to answer the nattering question "do you want the following application to make changes to this computer?" - Yes!  Whatever! Just leave me alone and run the application!

1) how do i stop this nattering and force windows 7 to leave me alone and run the application?

2) how do i switch compatibility mode back to windows 7 (or eliminate compatibility mode altogether) for this application?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application several times with no luck.
