Nvidia 8800gt Drivers Help

I have had this graphics card for a while, and i like it very much. Never had a problem with it from xp to vista. For the first few months of win7 i never had a problem. However, ever since the windows important updates through windows update a few weeks ago my nividia card stops responding, the drivers will fix the issue, windows and my card will fight for a while and then i get the bsod nvlddmkm.sys error code.

I always update my drivers manually, so i double checked and found out there was a newer driver that came out a few days after i began having this problem. No change. I use the solution center which hardly ever works or gives good information and basically everything aside from removing my nvidia drivers i had already done before seeking help. Since then i have removed the nvidia drivers and now its hit or miss on if windows will fully load before telling me there is a kernal problem and that my video card stopped responding. If it does load i usually have about a minute to 3 minutes before i have this problem.

I uninstalled the nvidia drivers and later deleted them one at a time. With no nvidia drivers in my computer i still get nvlddmkm.sys bsod which is only present in system32(since it's using the windows version of the drivers).

I've checked the compatibility of my hardware and the only other thing i have issues with is my lachesis mouse's cursor flying to the left on rare occasion (but that only started in vista, and im not too concerned).

I've run out of ideas, and the only other thing i can think of is that one of the windows updates did state that some programs or devices may work better or worse after this update, but not like this ever happened until the more recent windows updates.

Off the top of my head i'm running:
Windows 7 ultimate
Nvidia geforce 8800gt 512
2x 2gb ddr2 1066
Intel core 2 3. 0 proc
Gigabyte mobo recommended/bundled with proc
Razer lachesis
Thermaltake 700w psu
Wd 250gb hd (boot)
Wd 1tb sata hd
Lg dual-layer dvd burner/reader w. Lightscribe

Any ideas/assistance would be greatly appreciated. But again no hardware changes since before i got vista ultimate. Within the last 3-4 months no software updates (aside from malware/spyware/windows essentials) outside of windows update important updates, and the nvidia driver.

Nvidia Drivers Crash On Win7

I recently bought an amilo notebook pi 3540. I installed windows 7 professional on it but my the drivers of my nvidia geforce 9300m gs keeps crashing. The screen flickers whole the time and eventually it will completely crash (blue-screen error). I tried reinstalling windows 7 but that didn't help.

Now i installed windows 7 ultimate but it still crashes. This time however my screen won't flicker and there won't be a blue-screen error. The screen just goes blank and the system restarts. When i searched for the problem i found this analysis:

On wed 21/10/2009 9:00:43 your computer crashed
This was likely caused by the following module: nvlddmkm.sys
Bugcheck code: 0x116 (0xfffffa8006e054e0, 0xfffff880048fe490, 0x0, 0x2)
Error: video_tdr_error
File path: c:windowssystem32driversvlddmkm.sys
Product: nvidia windows kernel mode driver, version 186. 91
Company: nvidia corporation
Description: nvidia windows kernel mode driver, version 186. 91

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Drivers For Nvidia Geforce Go 6200

I have been attempting to upgrade a sony vaio laptop from xp to w7 using custom install. I am having problems with the geforce go 6200 driver in that w7 doesn't recognize it and wants to use the generic driver - does not go up to the full 1280x800 pixel resolution. After much searching i decided to try a vista custom install and had success with proper video identification and resolution. My question is what will happen if i try and do a w7 upgrade install on this laptop? Will the vista driver carry over to the w7 environment?

Bsod When Installing Nvidia Card Drivers

Important info:
Graphics card: geforce 7950 gx2
Ram: 2 gigabytes
Hdd: 400 gigabyte sata drive
Processor: amd athlon 64 fx-62 (dual core, 2. 8 ghz)

I have a shuttle pc, and am running the latest bios, not sure the version number, but i just flashed it several days ago when still on xp.

Okay, here goes. I just installed a clean copy of windows 7 x64 pro over windows xp. It was a major pain, i kept getting a blue screen error when setup was 'completing'. It was a stop error for file nvlddmkm.sys, which after some research, i believe it to be a nvidia file. I could not get win7 to install.

Finally, after hours of research, i finally got it to work by deleting the nvlddmkm.sys files during the 'expanding windows files' step. This was done via command prompt (shift f10). I believe i found the steps for this process here.

Continuing, i'm finally booted into windows, and i'm assuming that i am running the basic windows vga drivers. I ran windows update and attempted to install the drivers for my 7950 gx2, reboot, 'windows is starting', bsod. Boot into safe mode, uninstall drivers, install drivers from nvidia, reboot, bsod.

It seems that no matter what set of drivers i install, after i reboot, the computer will say 'starting windows' and then will get the bsod. The code is 116, and the associated file is nvlddmkm.sys.

I know that during the install process that i deleted the nvlddmkm.sys file from two locations. I believe one was in the system32 folder, can't remember the other location. Currently, this file is not located in the drivers folder (c:windowssystem32drivers).

Can you guys please help me in getting my graphics card drivers installed?  No matter what i do, i get a bsod after a reboot and before windows loads. I have tried several versions of the driver but to no avail. I believe i might need to copy the nvlddmkm.sys file to somewhere. I do have a nvlddmkm. Sy_ file that is packaged with all the drivers, but i believe it needs to be expanded?

Nvidia 8800 Gtx Drivers Issue

Whilst installing windows 7 ultimate, signature edition 64bit, on a machine using nvidia 8800 gtx xxx cards, windows 7 installer will eventually progress to installing drivers and updates, and upon doing so it will halt to a black screen and pop up an 80x25 (dos) cursor in the top left of the screen.

This is apparently (and was) a common issue with nvidia drivers on the newer cards (installing 182. Xx drivers) - however it appears that in at-least the dvd sent to me from microsoft, the drivers are automatically installed, causing the lock.

After this lock, leaving it there for around 3 hours of no activity, the machine can be manually reset, and windows 7 starts up to a point, and (before logon) it says:

The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click "ok" or restart the computer, and then restart the installation.

This also occurs in safe mode. Is there a way (software) around this and if so how? If there is a way to do a manual install (ie like in xp where you could type in the command line a bunch of parameters to tell it not to install drivers) then that would be fantastic since i can just tell it to skip nvidia drivers, and then manually install the correct ones later on.

Nvidia Geforce 8400gt Video Drivers Will Not Install

Video drivers will not install after successful clean upgrade/install of 7 home premium 64 bit on a vaio notebook that was running 32 bit vista. I have an nvidia geforce 8400gt card that isn't being recognized by the new 64 bit os. The video card isn't listed in the device manager, only the standard vga graphics adapter is listed.

When i attempt to install drivers found on nvidia's website, the installation wizard aborts with the message "the nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware?" Any tips for getting my pc to even recognize that this video card is installed?

Nvidia 7950 Gt Video Card Drivers Issue

I'm trying to install video card drivers on windows 7. When i first installed windows 7 and installed nvidia drivers everything was working fine for about a week. Now i can not get windows 7 to boot with video drivers installed and display my desktop. As soon as it gets passed the windows 7 boot logo my flat panel says no signal and turns off.

I boot into safe mode and uninstall the nvidia drivers and windows will boot just fine, but i have no video drivers installed. When i go into safe mode with that problem and i have windows troubleshoot it, it says that my video card drivers are up to date, but does not support wddm.

I have tried almost everything i can think of different brands of drivers and i don't know how many different versions but they all end up with the same problem. I'm running the nvidia 7950 gt video card with a asus p5b motherboard with the latest video card drivers on windows 7 operating system.

Nvidia Geforce 8600m Gt Unable To Install / Update Drivers

Clean install windows 7 64 bit from vista 32 bit.nvidia® geforce® 8600m gt gpu listed as a 'standard vga graphics adapter' and unable to install/update drivers. I have a sony vaio vgn-ar51su and installed windows 7 64 bit.

I have downloaded the latest nvida drivers from here: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/notebook_winvista_win7_x64_195. 62_whql_uk.html

Running the program it doesn't find any compatible devices. When i go to device manager and do it manually (update driver) and point it to the correct folder on c drive where the previous programme has installed all of the driver files it says 'the best driver software for your device is already installed' which, of course is untrue. Can anyone help?

Blue Screen On Startup - Nvidia Phisx Display Drivers Problem

I am having a bit of a headache here. I currently run windows 7 ultimate. Everything had been running exceptionally. I recently ran driver sweeper and was rebooting with the application. It supposedly removed nvidia phisx, display and chipset drivers. Windows 7 now bsod's in the middle startup. I try to go into safe mode with any options and it bsods as well. I have run startup repair to no avail. Repair said it found a problem that a change in system settings but it couldn't do anything further. I tried to run sfc scannow on the command prompt in startup repair and it said there is a repair pending and it had to be restarted. I have windows xp on another hard drive so i can access directories that way with limited capability. I also did not set a recovery point nor do i have an image to return to. Any ideas?

There are problems with some pnp devices. Windows will take additional steps to further troubleshoot these devices. It has bsod once today which i think is due to a problem with the card. Here is a mini-dump from the crash but it may have been corrupted.

Bsod Using Nvidia 8600gts

Absod using nvidia 8600gts - tried multiple driver versions, no luck, anyone have a quick fix for this issue, which allows me to use both of my monitors?

I've been running vista x64 home premium since mid '07 with relatively few problems, but i wanted to try out windows 7, so i bought an upgrade to win 7 x64 home premium over the weekend. The system immediately became quite unstable, rarely working for 10 minutes without an abrupt reboot or freeze. Through experimentation i was able to turn the problem off/on by disabling/enabling the pci-e graphics card and instead using the built-in graphics card on the motherboard.

With my add-on card active, the computer will crash randomly when surfing the web or performing usual windows activities, like browsing the start menu. It can be forced to crash rapidly by personalizing the desktop and clicking a few aero schemes one after the other - it rarely allows more than one or two clicks before freezing or rebooting. The add-on video card is a msi nx8600gts-t2d256ez hd (geforce 256mb 128-bit gddr3 pci-e x16)

I've tried a few versions of nvidia drivers to no avail - there is really no notable difference in the crash behavior. I ran the memory test tool and it found no problems. I've even tried "underclocking" the gpu using a tool from nvidia, but that also had no effect. Crashes are less frequent if i turn off aero (but still occasionally occur when browsing websites). To reiterate, crashes are completely stopped (aero or not) if i disable the nvidia card and use the built-in graphics on my motherboard.

Nvidia Geforce Go 7400

I recently upgraded my sony vaio la1 desktop pc to windows 7 32bit from windows xp 32bit. Everything seemed to go to plan, except that my nvidia geforce go 7400 graphics card is not being recognized. Windows is instead displaying a 'standard vga graphics adapter' that will not let my computer display in its native 16:9 resolution, instead forcing it to display a stretched 4:3
I fully expected my computer not to run aero following the upgrade, but for the drivers for my graphics card not to work at all is extremely annoying.

I have tried downloading the drivers direct from nvidia, but when i try to install them, the installer simply says that it cannot find the nvidia card and cancels. Sony is no use at all.
I am a designer, so to not be able to see things in the correct resolution is going to severely affect my work!

Conflict Using Hauppauge And Nvidia

I recently installed hauppauge hvr in my new computer which uses a nvidia graphics card. Everything seems to work except the video input (using s-video) from a digital video camera (mounted on a microscope). The picture trough my win tv 7 is split, with the bottom half at the top of the screen and the top half at the bottom, separated by 3 colour bars across the screen. The picture is otherwise in black and white but should be in coulour. A second feed going directly to a tv is fine. Everything works as it should using usb live and windows xp. I am using windows 7 ultimate. We really need this to work as our business depends on it.

Nvidia Geforce 8800 Problem

Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit will not let me overclock or even change fan speeds on my video card nor even allow any software including nvidia to show gpu and memory speed. Right now i'm hating windows 7 x64 simply put, other than simple online tasks, i like to benchmark video cards and play a few games, right now windows found and installed proper drivers for my 8800gts 512 video card but does not allow evga precision or even nvidia software to show it's core stats or allow them to be adjusted, nor can i use nvidia own software to change 3d settings ie anti-aliasing etc, just nothing works!

Even when i go to the control panel and look at hardware it shows only my monitor not my graphics card, it's like it doesn't exist yet when i click on properties tab for my monitor and under device function summary in the hardware tab it shows the location of my monitor as "on nvidia geforce 8800 gts 512 (microsoft corporation - wddm v1. 1) so what the gives? It's like the card works, but completely untouchable settings-wise and if i try to install drivers myself from nvidia, just gives me errors!

I've been having a problem since installing windows 7, that while playing games my screen will flash black then turn normal again and i'll get a pop-up saying "nvidia driver has recovered from a serious error" or something similar. Nvidia Driver Crashing Windows

I have a hp dv9000 laptop with nvidia geforce 8600m graphics card. After i installed windows 7 on it, i tried to update it with the latest driver from nvidia website. As soon as the installation is completed, it prompts for a restart and the windows crashes upon restart. I have tried this numerous times and it is consistent every single time. The only option i have is to restore it back and then use the standard vga graphics adapter. Unfortunately, this means that i cannot use it for any games or any of the advanced features. Even at a minimum, i cannot even change the brightness of the screen.

Any help is appreciated, even how to increase the brightness will help. I have already tried fn+f8 and all other hotkey combinations.

Nvidia 9800gt Driver Problems

I am currently running nvidia 9800 gtx+. My board is intel dg33fb and the manufacturer is dell i guess. The problem which i am facing is that my display goes black after the booting screen of windows 7. I have the latest driver and softwares, however this problem does not happen when i boot into safe mode. When i disable the nvidia 9800gtx+ graphic adapter from device manager, it then boots normally. Also i have noticed that sometimes the fan speed of pc increases when i boot up, it is then only the display goes to onboard vga. When i turn of the power and turn on the fan speed is normal but it has the problem i mentioned earlier.

Usb 2.0 Problem On A Non Nvidia Chipset

I recently did a clean install of windows 7 64-bit on a gigabyte motherboard (ga-790xta-ud4, amd 790x sb 710 ) with 4gb ddr3. I'm having problems transferring to and from my usb2. 0 thumb drives and external hdd. File transfer window will hang up on me and with error message g: drive no longer exist or can be found. Reboot machine and problem still persists. Apparently 500mb or larger file transfers will give this error. No problem if i try it on my old winxp machine.

I actually found a hotfix for similar problem on system with nvidia chipset and 4gb ram and wonder if i should apply it on my machine which is a non-nvidia chipset? Any advice?

Nvidia Quadro Fx 330 Driver

My company develops cad applications. I have to check w7 compatibility with all of our products.

My test machine specs:
Cpu: p4 3. 0 ghz ht
Ram: 2. 5 gb ddr2 533 mhz
Vga: nvidia quadro fx 300

I know that quadro fx 330 is not one of win7 compatible video cards by it supports dx9 an sm 2. 0
Windows update downloads fx 330 drivers automatically, but they are too old as for me (august 2006). I get lots of artifacts even on desktop with classic theme and continuous blue screens and errors with aero interface which is supported by this graph. Adapter. Can you update quadro series drivers since they are commonly used by our customers (in small business).

Video Card (nvidia) Problem

A friend's system runs dual-boot (xp and win7).initially with on-board video chip but this was very slow in graphics, so a video card (nvidia geforce 8000 series) was bought. Under win7 the system hangs after some time (even if not being used), but not under xp. So, back to the shop, replaced the video-card with a geforce gt220. Same problem: system hang after some time, but no problems under xp. We have replaced the driver with newer and older versions, but no difference.

Win 7 Freezes Due To Nvidia

Running windows 7 64-bit home premium, after upgrade from vista 64-bit. (The upgrade was from the manufacturer, asus. )Nvidia graphics card geforce gt 220, driver version 196. 21. The system has started crashing frequently. It freezes. We cannot connect this with any particular application or activity. Lso, a flag icon is now appearing in the system tray. When i mouse over it, i see "solve pc issues:  4 messages". I clicked it and it listed the 4 messages, one of which was, "address a problem with nvidia graphics driver. "

So i click this and i see a window in which it says, "opening solution . "  This lasts for a while but eventually it says, "this solution could not be downloaded. "  I am on the internet so there shouldn't be a problem with downloading anything. Anyway, on the same window i see where i can click, "view all problems this applies to. "  So i click that, and i see a list of some, but not nearly all, of our recent crashes. So there is some connection between nvidia and our crashes, but i can't get any further with this. Do you know what is going on?

The driver installed by windows is driver provider: nvidia, driver date:5/14/2009, driver version 8. 15. 11. 8593. My problem is stability and compatibility. Cannot Get Nvidia Graphics Card Working

I have a gateway pc, model e-4610d sb. I upgraded to w7 32 bit from w vista 32 bit. Everything was running beautifully before i upgraded (so why did i upgrade?. Christmas present. ). Anyway, i have lost my nvidia card and my ability to run aero. My wei has dropped nearly two whole points because i can only get my onboard graphics chip to work. I have tried every driver known on nvidia and gateway forums/websites. I have now clean installed w7, back to w vista, then back to w7.

I have uninstalled and re-installed all drivers and the card itself. It is a nvidia geforce 7600 gs. I cannot find the manufacturer of the card because gateway will not support me any longer (they sold the division handling my computer configuration to mpc who went bankrupt). Everything else is working very well. Much better than vista, in fact. Except this.

Is there anyone on here who can help? Please ask if i have performed a task before telling me to do so. Most likely i have already tried it and i can just tell you what the results were. I am really looking for someone who has specific knowledge of this exact issue and how to get the card to show up in the device manager.

Nvidia Gtx 295 Update

I am running windows 7 ultimate. Windows update recently offered an optional update for the nvidia geforce gtx 295 graphics processor (approximately 145 mb). Since i started using a windows 7 machine, i don't recall windows update has ever offered an update for the nvidia graphics processor before. I am already using the latest nvidia driver which i obtain directly from nvidia (which was an approximately 117 mb install file).

I'd like to find out more information about this update before i opt to download and install it. I want to know specifically what it is and if it differs from driver releases from nvidia (does it contain additional functionality specific to windows 7). How can i do this?
