Win7 Will Not Recognize Raid 0 Array

I can not get windows 7 to recognize my raid array.

To begin, this is a fresh install on an asus m4a78td-v evo m/b, amd phenom ii x4 955 3200 mhz, 4 gbs ddr3 memory, 2 western digital 2 tb wd20eads-00s2b0 sata 3g, and a benq dw1625 dvd burner. Nothing is over clocked and using stock video and sound.

When i install with a raid 0, 128 kb stripe block, fast init on, gigabyte boundary off, cache mode write through, and no use of the drivers for the raid array for the mother board as windows 7 ultimate x64, i can get to the point of the first re-boot and get a message of:†windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install windows, restart the installation. If i restart, i get the same message.

Same setup, but this time i use the motherboard raid drivers downloaded from asus , ahcix64s. Inf, i get an error message of windows is unable to install to the selected location. Error: 0x80300001. So i partition the 3725. 9 gb raid to 1-100 mb system partition, 2047. 9 gb primary partition, and 1677. 9 gb unallocated and get the same message for each of the 3 drives as above. If i extend the 2nd partition of 2047. 9 gb, i get the message of: failed to extend the selected partition. [Error: 0x80042468].

Finally, if i delete the raid array and change the bios setting for the sata port 1-6 to ide, the install will complete, but without the raid 0 array. Please, what am i doing wrong or what do i need to get the raid 0 array?†

Raid 0 Does Not Recognize Raid Array

I have a build with 7 ultimate running swimmingly for months with 2 single 1tb 7200 disks and one 128 gb ssd single. Yesterday, i successfully†created a raid 0 array of 4x 60 gb†ocz†ssds†in the gigabyte phoenix bios but they are not recognized as a usable array by 7ult. 7ult recognizes them† as an array in devices , everest recognizes them but after booting off the 128gb ssd they are not recognized in 'my computer", are not accessible, and generally are sitting there pretty, but useless.

My idea was to clone the 128 ssd to the array with acronis or paragon and use it as a super fast boot array? Any thoughts. Windows 7 ultimate and raid 0 setup after initial setup. 7 does not recognize raid array.

Raid 10 Array Process

I'm switching from xp to win 7 pro 64bit - i previously set raid 10 so have experience. This was done using f6 floppy on clean install xp pro 32bit with intel ich9r driver. I am going to do a clean install with win7 pro 64bit - i have read that in win 7 you don't need to use the same process but i am unclear what exactly occurs in the install process for win 7 - will win 7 simply recognize and install the correct drivers - or do i need to have the intel 64 bit matrix drivers ready on flash drive etc. Please confirm the process?

Ps this is hardware raid not software

Expand Raid 5 Array That Has Win 7

Can i expand a raid 5 array that has windows 7 on it? I am building a pc with a raid 5 array that will initially have 3/4 disks. The pc will be running windows 7 (probably home premium 64-bit).
What i want to know is can i expand the raid array that will have the system partition on without reinstalling the os. I may be wanting to do two things and i would like to know how to do them if possible, and without paying for a third party piece of software to do it.

The first is to add extra disks to the array and then expand the array and system partition to use it. Would this work and how is it done? The second is to add larger disks to the array? Again, would this work and how would it be done? I realize i would have to upgrade all the disks to make use of the extra capacity, but can i then expand the system partition into the extra space?

Files Gone From Another Raid Hdd Array

Windows 7 upgrade torched all mp3's, documents, pictures files that were on another redundant raid hd array. Just did the vista - win7 upgrade. Made sure everything was securely backed up on my second hard drive - actually a mirrored 2 disk raid array, though on the same system. Kicking myself for not disconnecting the drives because after the install everything is gone! 150 gigs of mp3's, years of documents and photos, everything.

Two funny things:

1) the file structure is intact. Ie, i can click through folders, say e: -> music -> u2 -> joshua tree. But then i am greeted with an empty folder. The entire file structure remains†but every folder is empty

Except .

2) bring up the†disk's properties window and it shows that the space is being used. The files add up to around 230 gigs and the system shows this space as in use. Click properties on any individual folder, though - ie on my music -†nil.

Things i tried:

Chkdsk - no errors. Various (free) file recovery programs - no deleted/corrupt files found to recover removed drives and installed into an external hd enclosure. Identical problem, both on the target system and on my laptop that is still running vista.

Using Raid 1 Array Causes Win 7 To Crash

Using a raid 1 (2 disk intel storage matrix managed) array generated in windows xp causes windows 7 (64) bit to crash on startup. I have a windows xp pro 32 bit os and just installed windows 7 pro 64 bit in a dual boot mode. I originally created 3 raid 1 mirror volumes (2 identical 1tb drives)†using the intel storage matrix manager v 6. 2 in windows xp.

When i connect these drives and boot into windows 7, i get a blue screen stop error when the os recognizes the drive and attempts to load the driver for it. The arrays still work fine in xp. How can i make these raid 1 arrays compatible with windows 7 64 bit?

Conversely, when i create a raid 1 array in windows & 64 bit using two 1 tb drives and the intel storage matrix manager v 8. 9, upon booting into windows xp i get the same blue screen crash after xp see's the drive and attempts to load the driver. I would like to make the arrays usable in either os, can this be done?

System Reserved Partition On Raid Array

Raid problem:
Mother board: asus p5ql-e.
Disks:
Port 0 - 500 gb seagate system drive - non raid
Port 1 - 500 gb seagate drive - raid
Port 2 - 500 gb seagate drive - raid
Port 3 - 1tb western digital - non raid

The raid drives were set up in bios as raid 1 (mirrored), and windows 7 installed on the system drive. The intel matrix storage console was installed, and showed volume 0 as 100 gb and volume 1 as 465. 7 gb. I did not set up two volumes in the raid bios.computer management shows that disk 1 has a "system reserved" 100 mb healthy (system, active, primary partition), and 99. 90 gb unallocated. Disk 2 is 365. 76 gb unallocated.

My problem is that i can not use these two drives. It may be possible to set them as non raid (i have not tried this), since i bought them to use as raid 1. It seems obvious that i need to delete the "system reserved" partition, but have been unable to do so. Does anyone have any suggestions? If this partition must exist somewhere on the system, can it be moved to another drive?

Unable To Enter Setup For Raid 1 Array

I am upgrading to a clean install of windows 7 ultimate 64bit from windows vista ultimate 64bit. I had the same hardware configuration with vista, just formatted the drives so i have a clean install. I had the drives set up in a raid 1 configuration in vista and want to to do the same in win 7.

I have the hard drives plugged into the sata 1 and 2 slots and the cd/dvd plugged into the sata 3 slot, just like i did in the vista install.

To install the new os, i set my drive configuration in the bios to raid. Using the intel raid manager i created an array called "programs" that used the full available space of both 500 gb drives. The array shows that it is normal and bootable after creating.

After creating the array, i return to the bios and check the boot priority. I have the cd/dvd set to #1 and the hdd array set to #2. I do not have a floppy so that is disabled in the legacy drive section so there is no third boot option.

The first attempt at installation, i put the win 7 dvd in at this point, saved the bios changes and exited. The install dvd boots and after going through the initial file load gives an error that an external storage device has been disconnected or is not functioning and i need to restart. I do not have any external devices connected at this time. In the vista setup i did have and esata drive connected through the port on the back of the pc. No esata connections have ever been used on the two internal connections.

I powered down the computer and then re-powered. It goes through the normal started, shows the healthy raid array in the intel raid screen, says that no jmicron drives detected and then goes to the ide detect screen. The timeout shows 35 then changes to boot ready as the dvd starts to spin. After 35 seconds elapse with no change, it gives an error that says "reboot and select proper boot devices or insert boot media in selected device and hit a key"

I remove the dvd, replace it in the drive and hit a key and get the same error.

I tried the process with the vista dvd and get the same result.

Next i deleted the raid array and remade it and tried again with the same result.

Next i set the cd/dvd as the only boot device with the same result. I also tried hitting f8 during start-up to select the boot device and chose the cd/dvd and got the same result.

Finally, i deleted the raid array, changed the drive configuration to ide and tried the install on a single drive. That worked with no problems. The os installed and runs perfectly but i really want the os to be installed on a raid 1 array for redundancy.

I appreciate any help you can offer to resolve the issue and get the os installed on a raid 1 array.

Rebuild Raid 1 Array Without Erasing Data On Drives

Possible to rebuild raid 1 array in windows 7 without erasing data on drives? (Want system independent raid 1 array). I would like to build a raid 1 array that can be migrated to future systems without having the data destroyed. To clarify, now i have an intel/win 7 computer. Perhaps my next system will be amd/win 8.

I don't mind being "locked in" to windows as i don't see myself changing to linux or os x, but i want the freedom to buy any hardware (not be locked in to say, intel chip-sets), upgrade to new versions of windows and keep my raid 1 array with data intact. If i create a raid 1 array in windows 7 (under computer management -> disk management for example) can i recreate that array under windows again in the future (fresh windows install) without windows formatting those drives and losing my data on them?

Win 7 Wont Recognize Raid Arrays

I have constructed a new computer with compatible hardware. I purchased windows 7 home premium and it doesn't recognize the two raid arrays i have setup in both the bios and raid configurator. I have installed all of the latest drivers , firmware, and updates available for every piece of hardware and windows.

I have two raid arrays setup: (2) 250 gb in raid 1 (for windows 7) and (3) 1 tb in raid 5. When booted up, windows only sees the first 250 gb drive. When i enter disk manager, it sees all five drives, but has the second 250 gb and all three 1 tb drives as independent drives and are inactive. I can activate them, but they still remain independent and not as a raid array. The bios and the configurator see two drives: (1) at 250 gb and (1) at 1. 8 tb (which is correct in the raid setup).

Do i need to buy a higher version of windows 7? (Professional or ultimate) or am i missing something in windows?

Win7 Can't Recognize Driver For Raid C: Drive

I am trying to upgrade from windows xp professional (32 bit) to windows 7. The installation stalls when it asks for a cd or dvd with the drivers used by my ati 1x2 mirror/raid1 scsi disk device. I copied the correct drivers from the xp windows/system 32 using the†file identities in "hardware" under windows system to a dvd. No dice.

Win 7 64 Bit Does Not Recognize File System On Sata Raid

Windows 7 64 bit ultimate (installed on single ide drive) does not recognize file system on sata raid pairs set up previously with xp. I recently upgraded to windows 7 64 bit ulitimate using a (single)†ide drive. I also have two sata raid pairs on my pc, one mirrored, one striped. I installed drivers (asus m2a-vm_hdmi mobo) that enabled w7 to recognize the drives, but as far as w7 is concerned, they're brand new blank drives that need formatting - and both pairs have data that i do not want to lose.

When i double click a raid drive icon through explorer, w7 tells me i need to format the drives, when i decline, i get a "x: is not accesbile. The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted" error.

How do i get access to the files on these drives through w7?

Remove Drive From Raid / Change Sata Mode From Raid To Ahci

Remove a drive from raid then change sata mode from raid to ahci, situation: i have 3 physical hdds: 1 ssd and 2 identical mechanical drives. The ssd stores the win 7 x64 pro installation while the mechanical drives, in raid 1, store data. The sata mode is set to raid at the moment. I want to remove a mechanical hard drive, thus, breaking the raid. Using the intel raid manager interface, i think i will still have all the data on the 2 mechanical hard drives.

Then, i will want to change the sata mode to ahci (1) because i will no longer have a raid (2) i want to enable trim for my ssd. Questions: how will changing sata mode to ahci affect my os installation? Should i change the mode before or after i remove a raid member? Will i have to reinstall windows?

Copy Raid Drive To Another Raid Drive

I've been running 2 seagate barracuda 500 gig hdd in raid1. I recently purchased 2 wd cavier green 2tb hdd that i want to run in raid5. I have backed up all my information from my existing drive to my external and create the back up boot cd. When i go to restore the information to the new raid array i get a error message (think it was 0x80042414). I tried then to just reinstall windows 7. Problem 2 happens. It will see the 3. 6tb hdd and will partition only 2tb of the disk space even though it was specified for 3. 6tb. Even still with the 2tb drive the install fails (don't have the error code).
How can i get the drive copied to my new array?

Win 7 Wont Recognize Second Monitor

Since the installation of windows 7 64-bit, i have not been able to connect my flat screen to my computer as a second monitor. I know how i am supposed to go about connecting the 2nd monitor and i had done it numerous times using windows vista 32-bit. When i right click on the desktop and go into screen resolution, it shows me a picture of a screen with a 1 in it and it has two buttons beside it; detect and identify. I assume if everything was working the way it should, a second monitor picture would appear when i press detect, but instead nothing happens.

I have a dell inspiron 1720, a panasonic 52in plasma, and i am using an s-video cable to connect the two. What i have read online suggests that it might be my video card driver's problem, but i dont know how to go about fixing this, if indeed it is the problem. Im not sure exactly which video card i have, and my computer just says its the standard vga graphics adaptor.

Win 7 Does Not Recognize Hard Drive

I am building two new computers and purchased two oem licenses of windows 7 home premium 64-bit. Both computers are using a biostar ta890gxb hd motherboard, amd phenom ii x6 1055t cpu, lg gh24 multi-optical drive, and 4 gb of kingston ddr3 1333 ram. The first computer was recycling a maxtor stm3320620as hard drive. This had been recently reformatted to ntfs, so essentially starting over from scratch. The second computer was using a brand new hitachi hd30500idk hard drive.

Upon booting up the first computer, i would get to the screen where i am to choose what hard drive to install on, but none are listed. The bios does show the hard drive properly. I tried going into advanced section to load drivers, but it can't find any drivers for the sata controller. I then followed advice i found when searching for a solution and i found how to get to the command line.

I am able to go to the c: drive. I was able to re-format the c: drive. After it was finished, i tried to go back in and it still does not recognize any hard drives. After a while, i gave up and tried working on the second computer. Upon booting up the second computer, i got to the screen for choosing the hard drive and it identified the hitachi hd. I was able to install the operating system and everything has been exactly what i was expecting it to be. S stated, they are identical except for the hard drives.

I have double checked all my connections numerous times on the first computer but everything checks out fine. It seems odd that i can access the hard drive in command line and in the bios, but the windows 7 installer doesn't recognize it. Any advice besides going out and purchasing a new hard drive?

Win 7 Wont Recognize Cd-rom

Ok, hereís the skinny.

I have a dell something.

Intel® pentium® 4 cpu 3. 20 ghz 3. 19ghz
3. 00 gb
32-bit operating system
Windows 7 home premium

My problem is that i am unable to use my cd-rom.

About a year ago my dc-rom took a dump and stopped opening so i just never used it. Well, about 2 months ago i upgraded from xp to win 7. The other day i needed to run an cd and decided to put in a new cd-rom. Took the old out and put the new in. Problem is that even though it is plugged in (long skinny data cable and what appears to be a 3-pring power plug) it wonít work. The cd-rom opens and closes but win 7 wonít recognize it.

Trouble shooting 101: yes, the cd-rom works. I took it out of this out of my last dell pc that it came in. The rom is a sonycd-rw crx216e. After discovering that it wonít work in this pc i put it back in the old dell. Plugged it in, tossed in a cd and bam! Works just fine. Took it back out of that old pc and put it in this pc and nothing. It should be noted the other pc is running xp.

So now iím like ***. So, i decided to plug in the old cd-rom †that came w/ this pc that is broken and reboot. And win 7 still wonít recognize this one either.

Now i donít know when i lost control of my cd-rom because i havenít used it in so long. I donít know if i lost it after installing win 7 or what. I do know i canít get it to work now.

Iíve tried reading forums and canít seem to find a fix. I even tried to run the built in win 7 troubleshooting program and it sayís it is not detecting an optical something or another drive. When i open my device manager it does not show any cd-rom installed.

I even tried going to dell and downloading the latest drivers for the rom, which was last updated in 2004, and running those. End result, nothing.

Anyone got any ideas?
