Installing Device Drivers

I am trying to install a controller using specific drivers which i have and every time i try to install them through the devices menu in control panel windows tells me that they are already up to date (even though the controller will not work). I've tried uninstalling the drivers which windows automatically installed and everytime i connect the controller windows installs the same drivers again without letting me cancel. Is there anyway to override this and install the drivers i want to install? I am running the windows 7 rc.

No Device Drivers Found

I'm trying to install windows 7, and have wasted multiple discs in the process, trying different speeds, different softwares, even different types of discs. My problem is i'm getting stuck with the "no device drivers found. " I've seen a few threads but i cannot find an answer that will work.

The last thing i thought i would mention is that i'm currently on windows xp x32 and i'm wanting to go to windows 7 x64. Can this be done? Do i need to fully uninstall windows xp with the windows xp disc before even using the windows 7 disc?

Bsod When Installing Nvidia Card Drivers

Important info:
Graphics card: geforce 7950 gx2
Ram: 2 gigabytes
Hdd: 400 gigabyte sata drive
Processor: amd athlon 64 fx-62 (dual core, 2. 8 ghz)

I have a shuttle pc, and am running the latest bios, not sure the version number, but i just flashed it several days ago when still on xp.

Okay, here goes. I just installed a clean copy of windows 7 x64 pro over windows xp. It was a major pain, i kept getting a blue screen error when setup was 'completing'. It was a stop error for file nvlddmkm.sys, which after some research, i believe it to be a nvidia file. I could not get win7 to install.

Finally, after hours of research, i finally got it to work by deleting the nvlddmkm.sys files during the 'expanding windows files' step. This was done via command prompt (shift f10). I believe i found the steps for this process here.

Continuing, i'm finally booted into windows, and i'm assuming that i am running the basic windows vga drivers. I ran windows update and attempted to install the drivers for my 7950 gx2, reboot, 'windows is starting', bsod. Boot into safe mode, uninstall drivers, install drivers from nvidia, reboot, bsod.

It seems that no matter what set of drivers i install, after i reboot, the computer will say 'starting windows' and then will get the bsod. The code is 116, and the associated file is nvlddmkm.sys.

I know that during the install process that i deleted the nvlddmkm.sys file from two locations. I believe one was in the system32 folder, can't remember the other location. Currently, this file is not located in the drivers folder (c:windowssystem32drivers).

Can you guys please help me in getting my graphics card drivers installed?  No matter what i do, i get a bsod after a reboot and before windows loads. I have tried several versions of the driver but to no avail. I believe i might need to copy the nvlddmkm.sys file to somewhere. I do have a nvlddmkm. Sy_ file that is packaged with all the drivers, but i believe it needs to be expanded?

Lx-3000 Headset Error Installing Drivers

I'm having trouble with my lx-3000 headset. I just installed windows 7 pro and the headset was working fine for a bit. I moved the headset to a different usb port and the os tried to reinstall the drivers. I then got an error message that told me the device was not recognized. I moved it back to the other port, i have deleted the drivers and done a shut down & reboot, and have had no luck at all. I've installed the life-chat, too. No help there either. The usb port that i moved it to was a port on the front of the tower. I'm not sure if i had the plugs reversed on the motherboard or something. I just don't know.

The Drivers For This Device Are Not Installed (code 28)

Am receiving the following error for two devices on my system, a usb 2. 0 hub and a bluetooth adapter. I ran the mister fixit applet which recognized the error, tries to install the drivers and comes back with an error. The devices themselves work fine because the system dual boots to xp and windows 7 and when i boot in xp it discovers the devices and installs the drivers without a problem.

I have tried uninstalling the devices and re-running "scan for hardware changes" several time to no avail. Have also run sfc and it reported no errors. I would welcome any ideas or suggestions to help resolve this.

No Device Drivers Found Issue

I downloaded the student edition of windows 7 home premium, i am currently running vista ultimate so cannot do an update and have to do a custom install. I downloaded it fine, ran it, it opens up fine with the blue windows 7 opening screen, i select install, then select custom install. In the next window i have an empty white box which i presume is supposed to list my hd's allowing me to select where i want to install windows 7. None of my hd's are showing up, i'm given the option to browse or scan, when i select this it gives me the message.

No device were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok. Any suggestions?

Win 7 Cannot Load Device Drivers

I've been having a problem with windows 7 freezing, hanging and not starting up for the past several weeks now. For the first few weeks after i installed in, windows 7 worked fine, but all the sudden in began freezing and hanging.

I've eliminated the possibility of my hardware being bad or my drivers being wrong; i've run multiple diagnostics on my hard drive, ram and others (memtest86, spinright and checkdisk, all came back with good results) - i've also scanned for malware (found none) and tried system restores and even reinstalled the os twice. Each time the problems come back.

I enabled boot-logging and found that on most startups, windows fails to load many or some device drivers. How can i fix this? When the system starts up, it works alright, but usually hangs or freezes within an hour. Usually it freezes during the windows logo screen or the "welcome - please wait" boot screens.

I've also noticed that the machine is far more prone to hang and freeze when on high performance or when plugged into my ac adapter.

Cd/dvd-rom Drive Device Drivers

So i'm trying to reinstall windows 7 after a long and bloody struggle with my motherboard (long story short, went to the field, sata controller died, got new sata controller, found out i might have possibly wiped my primary hdd, no backup) and after the "setup is starting. " Screen, it asks me for cd/dvd-rom device drivers. Seeing as i'm using a win7 disc to boot from, and it clearly read it enough to get here, and i highly doubt they even make cd-rom drive drivers anymore, i'm at a loss.
And for the record, the drive is a liteon ihos204 bd-rom. No other cd/dvd/bd-rom drives, either.
Thoughts? Opinions?

Xp Mode - Legacy Device Drivers Usb

I understand xp mode, running on supported hardware, allows the xp "guest" to utilize usb devices on the win7 host. What i am hoping is that i can install a legacy (winxp) usb device driver in the guest vm and have the legacy device (phone) work in the vm, without having a driver in the host, win7 environment.

This would be great, but i can also see why the device would need to be recognized with a driver in the physical host before it could be virtualized in the guest os. I'll get around to testing it, but just thought i'd ask here first, will it work? No vista/win7 driver available.

Windows Encountered Problem Installing Driver Software For Your Device

So i got a wireless mouse for my first time and it won't even install to my computer. It isn't the mouse because i tried other wireless mice and none of them work. In my device manager under other devices there are 2 usb receivers listed both with question marks next to them. It says they can't find the drivers for the device. Then under my hid i tried to update the hid-compliant device and the usb input device, neither could update. This is the message i get.

Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device. Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. Hid-compliant device the system cannot find the file specified. I already contacted evga about the issue because there is where i got my mainboard but they said to contact microsoft and i didn't really want to pay 50 bucks to email them. That is just ridiculous.

Error - Unknown Device - Usb Does Not Recognize Garmin Device

Just recently, windows 7 home premium addition has stopped detecting my garmin device. Other usb devices such as my ipod work fine. I was able to get it to detect the garmin only a few times, it would try to install the drivers but the drivers would fail to install. The garmin was working a few weeks ago. Below is a list of everything i have already tried:

Rebooting (after everything i try)
- Turning the computer off and leaving it unplugged overnight
- Completely uninstalling all drivers and software associated with the gamin.
- Manually installing drivers
- Uninstalling the unknown device and doing a search for new hardware
- Uninstalling the unknown device and doing a search for legacy hardware (this produces a device not functioning (code 10) error)
- Reverting back to a restore point before the last windows update

Please, any help would be very appreciated. I am decently computer savvy and have always been able to fix any problems that i have. This one has had me spinning my wheels for days.

Device Malfunctioned Error Code - 43 - Usb Device Not Recognized

I purchased a new computer with windows 7.initially my ipod worked fine with this computer. It still charges the ipod but nothing else. In addition it will not work on my old computer.

1. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.

2. I reset the device losing all of my music.

3. I have gone to device manager and the ipod shows up as unkown device. I have stopped the device driver and rebooted.

4. I have tried to have attached to my old computer update and i receive the exact same error and usb not recognized message.

5. Other devices work fine on the usb hub, in addition i have tried the other usb hub.

All of the above measures have failed. This all started when i was having problems updating my music to the ipod, and i chose the restore function on the summary page of the itunes software, with the device attached, and recognized. Since then nothing? Initially when the device was attached after the restore option was chosen, i got need to attach to a 2. 0 usb  high speed hub, error message? It is a 2. 0 usb high speed device. I have reviewed other questions in this forum, on apples forums, all with the same results, nothing.

Dvd Device Driver Blocked - Unable To Use Device Code 48

I get a code 48 message. I have an intel d945psn board that has run w2000 on a eide hard drive. I upgraded to windows 7 with a new sata hard drive clean install, but transferred files with pc mover. Now my dvd burner(s) don't work citing the infamous code 48 and saying that the software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with windows.

Aren't cd/dvd device drivers pretty standard, and included with the bios?  How do i deal with that problem. I have tried to update drivers through "driver access", but the problem persists. The device doesn't even show up in windows explorer or my computer, but can be seen in device manager and on the cmos menu. The same is true of my second, identical sata hard drive. It appears that some of my important system drivers have been blocked.

Usb Hub Displaying As Device In Device Manager

Pretty much all my device connected to my usb hub used to show in device manager as separate devices. However, they now only show under the name "kevin o'connor" (the name of my zune). Open the device's properties and going to the hardware tab will show all the device connected via the usb hub.

Therefore, all the devices do in fact work, it's just a little bothersome to me, and the fact that i can't safely remove anything from the hub without having to eject the entire hub. Here's a screen shot that shows what the hub shows as: http://i34. Tinypic.com/34fxmp4.png

Apple Mobile Device Driver Issue With Mtp Device Driver

How do i get windows 7 to accept the 'apple mobile device driver' instead of the 'mtp device driver'? It is driving me nuts! Frequent itunes sync issues occurring. Suggestion is that windows is treating as a camera instead of ipod which makes sense given it asks me if i want to import pictures each time i connect the ipod. I need to get it to update driver from mtp to apple mobile but cannot get it to do it as it keeps saying no compatible driver in the file.

Installing Updates

Bought an e-machines pc for christmas 2007. In december 2009 i had a problem with the computer which has recently been diagnosed has a common fault with the motherboard which i have since replaced. I have spent the last two weeks trying to get my system back up and running after replacing the motherboard. I have re-installed the windows vista that came with the pc and the computer works fine. I then download avg internet security and use the computer absolutely fine. However each time i switch off the pc and then try to switch it back on it tells me that the system registry is missing or corrupt and to boot from the disc to do the repair.

I do this and again the computer works fine. However the internet security and anything else i had on there is missing including any documents i had saved. This happens everytime switch off the computer. Having looked on this site i found that i had no service packs installed so downloaded sp1 and sp2. These wouldn't run and the site advised me to install an updater add on. This wouldn't install either. My automatic updates wont work either. I'm not computer illiterate but i'm no expert either so please help.

Installing On New Computer

I am going to be receiving a refurbished computer here soon, i have purchased the windows 7 copy to upgrade from vista. My question is do i just do upgrade or customize and do like a clean install. I will have really nothing on this computer other than what comes on it already. If i do a clean install do i lose things such as (and i know these arnt important things but there just small easy details to elaborate with) solitare, calculator, and meaningless things that like. Or are all of those things then re-installed with the windows 7 reprogram, or will all that stuff then be on other software disks i receive with the computer. Again sorry to sound stupid just want to make sure i do things correctly and should i just do the upgrade or a clean sweep on a new system.

Installing Win 7 Using Cd

When  i purchased windows & i also paid and extra $13. 00 for the cd knowing that you can only download and install using the purchased link once. I downloaded windows 7 on my home computer just fine and it works great, no trouble at all. However i purchased the cd in addition to the download link so that i could install windows 7 on my laptop as well. But for some reason it will not accept my key. I've tried typing in the key on the cd case and the key i received when i downloaded it from your site, but nothing is working.

Installing Win 7 From Xp

I currently have windows xp and yesterday when i booted up my machine, there were no icons or taskbar, and i cannot find my explorer.exe file. After lots of research and virus scanning, i have decided to purchase windows 7 and format the drive in order to get a clean install. Here is the problem. During the windows 7 setup it never gives me the option to actually format the drive. Sorry to be tedious, but here are the steps i followed:

1)since i don't have any icons or taskbar, i hit ctl-alt-dlt and run the windows 7 'setup' through the file->new task.

2)i get the 'install now' choice, and click it.

3)screen reads 'setup is copying temp files'

4)screen reads 'setup is starting'

5)asks if i want to go online for updates. I click yes.

6)agree to the license agreement)choose custom setup

8)now it asks me where to install, and this is what i see. My hard drive:  disk 0 partition 1 (c:)at the bottom of the screen i see 'refresh', 'load driver', and in the bottom right 'next'. Isn't there supposed to be an 'advanced option' somewhere?  What have i done wrong?

Updating Drivers

I ran vista 64 on this custom pc for 2 years and upgraded to win 7. I had it running well for about a month until i started getting lots of updates for drivers, like atapi, 1394, atk 0110 etc. Installing these "updates" over time began to give me lock ups and bsods. I sort of just took windows word for it and installed these drivers, knowing full well that windows has tried to give me the wrong drivers in the past (gpu, monitor, sound card to name a few).

Im on my 6th install of win 7 so ive decided to update all drivers manually in the future. Im pretty familiar with updating drivers for devices like the gpu, mobo (nforce), monitor, mouse, sound card etc but im unsure about updating several other devices. These devices have windows generic drivers dating back to 2006 and include :

Acpi x64
Wdc scsi disk device
Ide ata/atapi controllers (ata 0, 1, pci ide generic)
1394 bus controller
Usb's

It should be noted that ive been sent windows updates for atapi, atk 0110, ehci (usb updates), 1394
My board is an asus striker ii extreme. From their website i can get the drivers for :jmicron(raid controller), nforce (though its outdated), onboard audio and atk 0110 and install them on top of the generic drivers. But that leaves me with quite a few other drivers missing. Atapi, ehci, 1394. Where would i get these?

Win 7 home premium 64

Blocked Drivers

I got a new hp 610 laptop with windows 7 home basic operating system. On installing the "total protection" it gave me an error saying that a driver. Had been blocked by the operating system and disabled. It is not giving me an indication as to which driver it is.

It must be something to do with the firewall because i cannot get it to switch on. I have total protection running on my pc and previously on my other laptop but they were running on xp pro.
Have you had something like this before?

Re Download Drivers

When i download a driver and try to expand/install it and it says down load error - down load again, which i download again but because the driver was downloaded before it does not actually download again, but shows in a split second that the driver has downloaded as (1). When i click the new downloaded driver it shows the same download error message. This is because the download begins from where the download stopped and not from the starting again, showing the same file from the hard disk.
Please tell me how to delete the cache file and re-download a fresh driver.
