Dvd Maker Problem During The Burn Process

I have a sony dvd camcorder (mini disc)and sony vegas movie studio 6 software. Since getting a new laptop with windows 7 i've been having problems with vegas movie studio (i think it may not be fully compatible with windows 7). But it does manage to render my videos to a recognizable format (mpg) so i turned to windows dvd maker, which looks like a great and simple program to use initially. But like many messages on this forum i too had a problem during the burn process - mine only gets to approx. 4% and then comes up with an error message (but the error message displays no detail). What can i do? Is there an alternative? Can i burn a mini disc onto a dvd-r for example? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Movie Maker Dvd Failed To Burn

Recently did a clean install win7 pro. Windows movie maker was included. I successfully created and saved a movie with wmm and set up to burn a dvd. Got the error msg: dvd failed to burn. Troubleshooting procedures: updated dvd drivers (they were current), reduced burn speed to slow, there are no video filters listed. Using verbatim dvd-r. Gateway multimedia fx530 2 yrs old. Raid 5. Lot's of disc space. It's a multimedia machine. 2 gb memory. 6 minute movie. I've scrapped several discs while changing speed and checking settings. This error msg appears at the last 1% of the process (progress bar).

How To Burn Files To Cd/dvd?

How do i burn files to cd/dvd? I've spent the past hour trying to burn files to my cd/dvd. Even after i erase the disc and tell windows 7 what files to burn it tells me the files already exist on the destination disc or there isn't enough disc space on the destination even after i erase the darn thing.

Then when i finally get it start burning and even during what i perceive as the burning process that balloon keeps popping up telling me i have files ready to burn even though they were burned (at least that was the case the last time) i'm attempting to burn the same updated files that i burned a week ago. Apparently erasing the disc does no good. Am i missing something or is there an easy way to do this? Maybe some third party software would make things a bit easier.

Not Able To Burn Files To Dvd

Problems burning dvds i'm new to windows 7. I have read the instructions for wmp 12 and i cannot burn dvds. I had no problem in vista but this is a trial just getting the files into the player. Drop and drag doesn't work. I finally got the avi files into it but on one dvd player i have a pic and no sound and on the other sound and no pic. I used a dvd-wr, which didn't work at all and a dvd -r, which gave me the results i just stated. At one point, i got a list up of settings but i can't find it again. Both dvd players support divx. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Cd/dvd Drive Does Not Support Gapless Burn

When trying to do gapless burn using windows media player 12, received a message stating that cd/dvd drive does not support gapless burn. The drive is part of desktop purchased 2 months ago. Went to cd/dvd manufacturer and received update for drive but gapless burn still does not work. Noticed in win 7 forum that same is happening with others who have bought win 7 and use wmp 12. What can be done to fix this problem?  What new drives exist that allow gapless burn using wmp 12?

Dvd Maker Cannot Create The Dvd

I'm getting this like everyone else on a windows 7 64 bit. The dvd burner is turned on, working, etc. I have 251 gb of free space. The problem is that this error message is so worthless, i.e. No real specifics like "out of space" , "codec error", "invalid input file", "hey, i just don't like you"  . There is nothing to work with. The input is a home movie avi which plays just fine in windows media center. The "just die for no apparent reason" point seems to be 38% in windows media center and 17% in windows dvd maker and the blank disk is kicked out.

If nothing else microsoft ought to build a fix that at least dumps some useful error messages about the failed process so there's a direction to take. At least under dvd maker the status was "encoding" and it dies during that. Windows media center tells you nothing, but the vague error. Oh, yes i did try again after a fresh re-boot and am running nothing else. Same problem.

Dvd Maker

Win 7. I own this dvd. So i thought i would give this a try before looking elsewhere. "Regular" dvds have about a 4gb or so capacity and so i loaded up about 4 ripped vob files totaling 3. 5gb into the program and it told me it was over capacity. It seems that the program only recognizes 150 minutes. One vob file of only 1gb takes up about 120 minutes. It seems the program will not add files by size but rather by 150 minutes max.

Is this a known limitation of the program or did i do it wrong. Do i need to convert the vob files first in order to fit more on the dvd? Btw the vob files loaded up very nicely, played well and i was able to add transitions etc. But i need a program that will let me write back to disc the 4 + gb capacity of the disc. Tia.

Error When Trying To Burn Cd - Windows Media Player Cannot Burn Files

Windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. I just burned a cd with absolutely no problems at all. Using the same type of cd, brand new, i attempted to burn another cd and got this error message: windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish.

If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. I've shut down all programs running, restarted my computer, changed the burn speed under the devices tab, everything i knew to do and all the things i've read through these forums, no such luck, still getting the exact same message. Any clue why my cd burner has decided to just stop working for me?

Dvd Maker Screws Up

I have a brand new toshiba satellite that is preloaded with windows 7. I was so happy to learn that it had windows 7 dvd maker available. Once i started to load some photos for a slide show i went to preview the image slideshow. When the images began to transitions from one photo to the next and pan in and zoom out, some images would decided to kind of skip on the vertical edges. It was almost as though the images where to much for my computer to handle, but i have no other skips with any other dvd maker program, nor when i watch a movie.

What gives?
Any other people seeing this problem?

Previews Problem With Dvd Maker

I made a dvd with windows movie maker and modified it with the options. I did not burn correctly, in fact it made my video choppy and i lost some videos, meaning some of the videos i added did not come out. On the menu format i selected it shows displays of some of the videos i added to my dvd but does not play in the video itself. How can i get the videos that are on the feature menu. I chose the menu style call reflections. On the reflections boxes is where my videos are playing as a preview but not on the dvd i made. How can i get those previews out of there?

Copy Disc Using Dvd Maker

Ok. Every time i go to windows dvd maker and i try to copy a dvd i made i run into several probs. First, i  have to select "all the files" because nothing shows up under "media/video/picture files" in the d drive otherwise. After selecting everything from my dvd, some of the files still get rejected from being transferred anyway!. Then when i go to click "burn" and it says i need to put in a "blank disc" which i do. After it burns for a minute and gets to about 70% it says cannot burn anymore because of a "invalid pointer. " What is that? Can you not copy a disc using windows dvd maker? If so how?

Dvd Maker Encoding Error

I'm trying burn some files but the encoding always stops at 0. 6% before generating the following error.

[Window title]
Windows dvd maker
[Main instruction]
Cannot create the dvd
[Content]
An error occurred when burning the dvd.

[Ok]

A bit more background info:

- I'm running windows 7 pro
- I haven't got any other burning software (such as nero) installed
- There are 11 . Vob files to burn
- That's 106 of 150 minutes
- There aren't any effects or customized menu

Has anyone got any suggestions? Searching on the internet shows that there are people who are experiencing the same problems, but i'm not even sure what codecs are and how to check whether i have the right ones.

Audio Problem With Dvd Maker

After months of trouble free operation i suddenly find no audio on all dvds burned with windows dvd maker. Using windows media player i can view and hear the files ok directly from my hd. I can also play the files ok when i select preview as part of the windows dvd maker process. I do not have windows movie maker installed. I am running oem windows 7 home edition. I thought this may have coincided with the use of proshow gold so i uninstalled that program. I also uninstalled nero 9 but the problem persists.

Bug Report Dvd Maker

I have windows 7 home premium x64 with windows dvd maker file version: 6. 1. 7600. 16385 dated 07/13/2009 9:39 pm. When adding titles to be burned, dvd maker shows a time of 150 minutes on the dvd. It can not add mpg files correctly. A mpeg with 1:31 and another mpeg with 45 minutes and another mpeg 14 minutes shows 149 out of 150 minutes. This is incorrect since the blank dvd can only hold 120 minutes. Encoding starts and then there is an error. Nothing is written. I can create the dvd with 1:31 + 14 minutes dvd for 105 minutes.

Dvd Maker Avi Files Corrupt

I have just found out about windows dvd maker and decided to give it a go. I tried to insert a file and found out it wouldn't allow me to select an mp4 so i decided to render each scene of my dvd into avi format instead of mp4 but as soon as i try and select them i get this error message:

"0 files were successfully added. 1 file could not be added. The file c:usersedwarddesktopuntitled. Avi is not a supported file type and cannot be imported. "

I installed a codec to try and get it to work but previous to this it came up with a similar error saying that the file might be corrupt.

What can i do as its really annoying me :( i have rendered the video as a wmv and it works but it annoys me because it isn't as good quality as the avi that i rendered.

Dvd Maker Aspect Ratio Problem

I am using the windows 7 dvd maker tool, and am experiencing some major issues. I have a widescreen formatted avi file i am trying to burn onto a dvd. When i import the video, it doesn't matter which aspect ratio i choose the finished dvd is the same. Menu shows video correctly, but the movie part is squeezed into a 4:3 with black bars on all four sides.

It seems to be that windows dvd maker does not recognize the aspect ratio of the avi file imported. Although the avi file loads in media player in the widescreen format, the file listing in dvd maker clearly shows in 4:3 aspect ratios for the same file, imay sure that windows 7 dvd maker is set up correctly on (16:9).

I have wasted several dvds attempting to use multiple configurations within dvd maker and none have been successful. The dvd always burns in 4:3 aspect ration regardless of the settings chosen under the options menu. This is definitely a bug in the program.

Unknown Dvd Maker Error Message

Here is a frustrating problem i am having with windows dvd maker that no one can seem to explain. I have a new computer, less than a month old, running windows 7. I have been trying to burn some home movie clips on to dvds for various friends and family. I completed 3 or 4 dvds successfully. All of a sudden, during the burning process, i get to a point about 0. 3 to 0. 4 percent encoded when i get an error message that the dvd cannot be made due to an unspecified error.

Every fresh, new, out of the package disk i try to use ends up with the same message. The clips haven't changed, the filters haven't changed, the settings haven't changed, i've just done a few successfully with no problem, now all of a sudden it can't burn any more discs. What happened? What do i need to do to fix it?

Jewelcase Maker In Nti Media Maker 8

I am having trouble with the jewelcase maker program in nti media maker 8. It tells me there is a problem and has to close; that it will notify me if a solution can be found. I insert a picture on the front of the cd cover just fine. I was only able to add the text for a few titles and guess what? Yep "there was a problem and it had to close" now i can't save additional text to the cover. It lets me type a few lines - maybe- but then when i go to save it tells me blah blah and then shuts down.

Also when i made a test print of what i did manage to save, i got one print and 5 blank pages. I chose to print only 1 copy and that's what the print window said before i hit print. Once it started to print the printer said 6 copies- with one being printed and 5 blank i'm running windows 7home premium on an acer aspire notebook that is less than 2 months old and this is the only problem i have. Can anyone help me with this please?

Cannot Burn A Cd From Library

I have windows 7 and when i try to burn audio from my library it starts to burner and then i get an error message saying that my burner is not connected or something to that effect. I have tried slowing down the burn speed but to no avail. I am using a sony cd-r disc and the music that i trying to burn is not protected. When i go into the fix mode it says that the disc is not recognized but that it has been fixed.

I have checked to see that i have the latest drivers and i have. I was actually able to burn the three audio selections that came with the computer. The only other music i currently have is a classical album that i bought and downloaded from amazon and, that is the one i can't burn to a cd.

Media Player Cd Burn Error

It starts burning and then stops when it gets to 99%. This error message pops up on the screen: windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. I'm using a laptop with windows 7 that already has a burner inside. Also, when i play the cd in a cd player it seems to work fine. So i'm wondering why it's displaying that message.

Unable To Burn Audio Cds

Unable to burn audio since loading win 7 but can burn dvd'si have 2 lite-on dh-20a4p combo's which will not burn audio cd's with a number of different burning programs tried in windows 7 ultimate. The funny thing is they both worked to their full capacity in vista ultimate burning both dvd's and cd's with no problems. With different types of media i'll get to the final stage of burning and the programs either won't give me the green light or they just hang. I am thinking that this is an issue with the driver in windows 7 and that perhaps there may be a way to load the vista driver.

When i use wmp 12 to burn i get the following message no matter what media i use.
"Windows media player could not complete burning because the disc is not compatible with your drive. Try inserting a different kind of recordable media or use a disc that supports a write speed that is compatible with your drive. "

The disc has by then ejected. I have tried removing upper and lower filters in the registry to no avail. I can't remember if it worked whilst trialling windows 7 rc1. My hardware is as follows:

Operating system: ms windows 7 ultimate 32-bit
Cpu: intel pentium d 805
Smithfield 90nm technology
Ram: 2. 0gb dual-channel ddr2 @ 267mhz 4-4-4-11
Motherboard: gigabyte technology co. , Ltd. 8vt880p combo (socket 775)
Graphics: generic pnp monitor @ 1680x1050
256mb geforce 7300 gs (undefined) 48 °c
Hard drives: 195. 36gb seagate st320082 scsi disk device (scsi)
Optical drives: atapi dvd a dh20a4p ata device
Atapi dvd a dh20a4p ata device

Audio: realtek ac'97 audio for via (r) audio controlleri've tried many different things, eg: rolling back firmware, attempting to uninstall wmp 12 and replace with wmp 11 but i'm stumped. Worked perfectly with xp then vista unless something in the registry has changed in win 7. All diagnostics say both rom's are fine. What do you guy's reckon?  Ideas:programs you are having problems with error messages recent changes you made to your computer what you have already tried to fix the problem

Stalled Backup Burn Onto Disc

Yesterday, i tried to burn my weekly back-up disc. It stalled , so i canceled it. Today i tried again, was told to put in the old disc. I did and it stalled again when it came time to take out the first disc. I had to shut down and use the paper clip. I tried again with a new disc (the other one had finished). The process got to 63% and hung there for more than 1/2 hour. It never told me to insert another disc, although, after 2 hours or so it must be done. I will have to paper clip it again to get the disc out. I'm assuming i'm 2/3rds done with my back-up (i have a lot of photos).
Why does the program not say anything when it's hung up?

Windows Media Player Cannot Burn The Files

Windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary verify the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the last device driver.

If you guys tell me check and make sure the cd burner is connected;been there done that.
If you guy tell me to uninstall the device and reinstall;been there done that
If you guys tell me to try brand new disks;been there done that as well.
I have lowered the burn speed ect.

I have done everything possible. I can burn a disk one time or a few then next disk i get that error. I have yet to burn the system restore disk and i am afraid to for fear of getting that error. I am thinking of getting external burner since no one things its a good idea test things out before putting them out.

Error - Windows Media Player Cannot Burn The Files

Windows media player-error: windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. Wmp cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver.

When trying to burn a cd wmp goes through the motions but only burns a some of the music and not others then ejects the cd with the message above. Some songs on the burn list have audio codec info some do not. I believe this makes a difference but am not sure.

Message - No Disc In Drive - Can't Burn Picture Cd

I selected about 40 pictures from a gallery folder to burn to disc. I get a window that opens and says "files waiting to be burned to disc" followed by a list of the selected image files. I click 'burn to disc', and am prompted to put an empty disc into the cd-rom drive. After i do, and after closing the drive door, i get a 'checking disc' msg. In the window. In a few seconds the drive door opens, and i see this message: "there is no disc in the cd or dvd burner".

"Please insert a writable disc into the d drive". This drive plays discs fine, and i had no problems burning when i used vista, but after a hd crash, i upgraded to win7 and this is my first attempt at making a disc. Is there some compatibility issue here?. Device mgr. Says the device is working. The driver is up to date.
