Outlook 2003 Save Picture As Issue

I have a new computer with windows 7. I did an easy transfer off the old machine and am using outlook 2003. When i use the "save picture as" key to save a picture embedded in an email i cannot open the picture libraries. I get the error message "you can't open this location with this program". I click through the error message and can access the pictures through the breadcrumb trail at the top. Why can't i open those locations?

Attaching A Picture In Outlook

I can open my pictures directly from the start button. I see all my photos and it says there are 2 locations. C:usersname my pictures and c:userspublic my pictures. I can navigate from the computer prompt to either of these directories. They both show up and i can access the photos. The problem. When i am using outlook and try to attach a picture, i navigate to c:usersname but there is no my pictures folder showing?

Alternatively, i can also open documents from the start menu and there are 2 folders listed as my pictures. I am denied access to both. I am logged on as administrator and the permissions seem to be set to allow me access. On my other pc, i see the same thing (2 folders), but i can access the folder that is showing as a shortcut.

I don't know if these situations are related, but i'm stumped right now on getting outlook to browse to a folder that i can access my pictures from. Any help will be appreciated.

Outlook 2003 On Win 7

Just got my first dell pc with windows 7 business installed. I am having a problem with outlook 2003 connecting to a ms exchange server. The first time i go in i configure the profile with microsoft exchange. It usually work the first time i open the mailbox after the profile creation, then i am unable to get back in to the mailbox.

If i run outlook in the xp sp3 compatibility i receive an error  "unable to open default e-mail folders. The information store can not be opened". Then i decided to test windows safe mode with networking and i was able to use outlook 2003 without any problems. Opened and closed several times. Any idea what would be blocking outlook from working in normal windows mode?

"The error message states that i must be connected to the internet to get to the microsoft exchange server and that outlook must be connected to internet" then when i hit ok it goes to microsoft exchange server and requests the server and mailbox. I am not very computer literate, but i can't get to outlook to use the tools menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Microsoft Office Outlook 2003

Running windows xp media center edition 2005. I have office 2003 professional. Today, 7 june 09, apparently there were a lot of updates not only to xp but office as well. The .net and silverlight was just a couple of them. Anyway, after that, i rebooted as instructed but now i get an error when i try and reply to someone that has sent me an email. It states :  "the message interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists try restarting outlook. "

I have restarted outlook 2003 several times and i get the same error. I haven't changed my email account or anything (it seems) that would cause it not to operate properly as it had for the last year. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Outlook 2003 Address Book Problem

I have installed office 2003, including outlook 2003, onto my new computer and then transferred my outlook 2003 settings from my old computer (windows xp sp3 - 32 bit) to my new computer (windows 7 - 64 bit) using the windows easy transfer program. All the e mails and settings transferred successfully except my address book contacts. The contact details are all present and correct in the contacts folder in outlook 2003 on my new computer, but do not show up in my address book.

When i right click on the contacts folder and select properties, i see that the "show this folder as an e-mail address book" is greyed out. I have seen els where in this forum that this probably means that my mail profile is corrupted and that i have to generate a new profile. Please advise how i can do this in an easily understandable step by step procedure.

Outlook 2003 Woes - Native And Xp Mode

I ended up on windows 7 (ultimate 064) when my previous xp pro / outlook 2003 machine started to fail. I used pcmover pro to migrate data settings and applications. It mostly worked. Outlook 2003 is allegedly compatible with w7. But.

My email profile has several accounts. The smtp servers use ssl. Two accounts are imap; also ssl. Several accounts are send-only - they're pop/smtp but are configured never to receive. (Never mind how this works - it's worked fine for years on xp pro. )

Under w7, sending mail does not work. The send mail server reports that no mail command was received. Receiving mail - from a wire trace, it appears that some library update causes outlook to send a random client certificate to the imaps server. The certificate that it picks is issued by an internal certificate authority. Works fine talking to internal imap servers. But the external servers drop the connection with error "unknown ca" (which is fair). Under xp pro, no client certificate is sent.

If w7 is going to cause a certificate to be sent, there has to be some way to tell it which one to pick. (And there needs to be a choice not to send any. ) I tried uninstalling office and re-installing from cd (yes, with all the patches and service packs). This didn't change the behavior. (Prior to this, i tried the office diagnostics - no joy. ).

Since i really need e-mail to live, next step was to install xp mode and install office 2003 (and all the service packs, patches, anti-virus, etc) there. I setup outlook to access the data files on the w7 disks. Sure enough, sending and receiving mail works to everywhere again! But (there had to be one), how do i set xp-mode outlook as my default program for e-mail (send to context menus, mailto: urls, etc. )?

The default programs control panel applet sees outlook - the native one. How do i get it to recognize the xp-mode-image? If that can be solved, i think i can live with this solution.
I'd be happy to provide details if someone at microsoft cares to look into the native outlook problem - but not through the support chain that solves all problems with reformatting the disk :-(
Bottom line is two issues:

* Native outlook seems to be the victim of ssl client certificates being sent where they weren't before. This is an improvement - but only if it's configurable!

* Xp-mode outlook needs to be set as a default program - is this possible? How?

Problem Using Outlook 2003 Pro With Win 7

Os-windows 7 ultimate.

I installed ms office 2003 professional (actually, i installed ms office 2000 professional and then used the 2003 update cd's). I then downloaded and installed ms office 2003 sp3. Using the calendar, if i set a reminder by using the tools>options screen to remind me of an appointment in 1 day, the reminder does happen.

If i was to open the appointment window and set the reminder to 5 minutes, the reminder does not go off. I am assuming that would be 5 minutes from now. The time frames mentioned above are just examples. No matter what time frame i use, the same thing occurs.

Outlook 2003 Send / Receive Not Working

I recently started working with my new windows 7 computer. I reinstalled my office 2003 and have successfully imported all of my outlook 2003 folders/contacts/calendar for my old xp computer. I have set up the comcast and verizon accounts on the new computer and when i test the settings they work and i have successfully sent a test email. However, i am unable to receive emails off the server. Outlook is asking for the passwords (which have been saved in the account settings).

Not sure what i am overlooking. The internet connection works fine, although i could not successfully load the java upgrade i needed yesterday.

Transfer/save emails in outlook express (winxp) and transfer them to window 7 with office outlook or windows live mail. I have been searching for an answer to this question for awhile. Outlook Web Access 2003 Not Working In Ie8

Having just bought a new laptop running windows 7 and ie 8, i now get a red x in the content area when i want to reply/forward an email in outlook web access, which i use 24/7 for work. I read on microsoft's tech forum that others had the same issue in older versions of ie, but the work-around (installing the latest version of the s/mime control in owa) allows me to write in the content field and then promptly crashes ie upon attempting to send.

Oh, and since i am an outside contractor for the org that hosts the outlook exchange mail-server, they've already said they won't put any hotfixes on their server, since no one else has this problem. What to do?

Default Save To Location Reg Key / Save As Location To My Documents

Can someone please tell me the reg key that controls where non office documents get saved to by default when you click save. For most things it defaults to my documents, but what controls that. I am not referring to the places bar, rather the location that comes up when the save as dialog box appears. Currently i have users who when they go to save a copy of a pdf or create one using cutepdf writer it is defaulting to a network location that we'd rather they not save to. I want that save as location to be my documents. If i manually navigate to my documents and save and then attempt to save other pdf docs they default to my docs so i know something has to be keeping track of the change. Can someone help?Os is windows 2003 server and we have a citrix environment if that makes any difference.

Move Outlook Express Emails To Outlook 2007

Ok, i've read huge quantities of info on how to do this. I have my old folder saved from outlook express 6. I have a laptop with xp, outlook express 6 and outlook 2003 on it. I copied the outlook express folder to the laptop. Started up outlook express and changed the 'store' folder to the folder with my old saved mails. All the mail i can see in outlook express. Closed outlook express.

Opened up outlook, choose import and imported outlook express mail into outlook. I now have an outlook. Pst and a extend. Dat file in the documents and setting, outlook folder. So, i will copy these 2 files to a thumb-drive, then go to my windows 7 machine that has outlook 2007 installed and copy and overwrite the . Pst file on that machine.

Is this it? Is there going to be a problem with the fact that i created the . Pst file in outlook 2003? I read a few posts that i should not overwrite the original file, but to copy the new file somewhere else and just 'open' it in outlook 2007, is this correct?

Migrating From Outlook Express Xp To Outlook 2010

Spent 1. 5 days trying it and it didn't work yet. Saw lots of posts in google already. Goal: restore outlook express emails (. Dbx files) and address books (. Wab files) from a maxtor drive to windows 7 outlook 2010. We work with 2 pcs: 1 win xp, 1 win 7. Tried the following approaches. Only the first 1 works but i don't know how to move forward.

1.copy . Dbx and . Wab files to a win xp machine. Open outlook express and import them. It works how to transfer these files to windows 7 outlook 2010 then? Win 7 is on another computer.

2.copy . Dbx and . Wab files to win 7 machine. Use outlook 2010 to import. Only got 1 file and 1 address.

3. Installed win xp mode on win 7. Use the outlook express on win xp to import. Fold structure is totally messed up different result from #1, which is on a physical xp machine.

4. On win xp, use outlook 2007 to import email from outlook express. Exceed the max size of . Ost file since there are about 7gb of email. So outlook 2007 is crippled. Had to delete all emails. If this works, we can copy the . Pst file from ol 2007 to ol 2010, right?

Picture Import Settings

I want to change the import settings for my canon camera when importing photos using windows 7. I had already managed to do this once but want to adjust the settings again. However, when i connect my camera to my pc, it automatically starts importing photos based on current settings with no option to change.

The above is from another thread regarding the same problem i have. The dialog box with "import settings" flashes, then goes away before you can make changes. The person above was given a link to a boilerplate answer that doesn't address the problem.

Desktop Picture Change To Black

Why does my desktop picture change to black. I know i don't have it set to change every so many minutes because i've not set that and it also just goes to black! My aunt's computer with windows 7 does the same thing. I've not been able to figure out why this happens. I can set a desktop theme even, download one from the internet, the wallpaper is set to whatever the theme sets it to, looks great, then within about 10 minutes or so, pow! The background goes to black! Any idea why this happens?

Excel Insert Picture Does Not Display

We have 2 identical dell systems, one with xp and one with windows 7, both running office 2007. If i create this same document on the xp system everyone can open the document and see the picture. The file is being saved on a server running windows server 2003. Even systems running windows 2000 can open the xp version of the document. I don't know how to solve this problem other than to downgrade to xp (not a pleasant experience).

Picture Slide Inside Of Folder

On windows xp there was a way to make a picture slide inside of a folder. So what it would look like is. Say you have 10 pictures inside a folder. Upon opening that folder. There would be one big picture in the center of the screen, and underneath were tiny icons of all your other pictures. And all you had to do was click the left or right button to browse through them. Or simply click on another picture to view it.

Is there a way to do this in windows 7? Or am i stuck with just large icons and the slide show option?
