At&t Usb Connect 881 Internet Connection Not Working

My only connection to the internet is via an at&t usb connect 881(mfg sierra wireless). What do i do if it does not work after installing windows 7. Windows 7 upgrade advisor says that i must check windows update after installing windows 7 to make sure i have the latest driver for this device, otherwise it may not work. My problem is that if it does not work , i can not check windows update. Is there a way out of this catch 22?

Internet Connection Sharing Using 3g Usb Router

I have three machines, two running win 7 and one xp machine. My internet connection is via a 3g usb connection on my main machine running win 7. I recently purchased a d-linkdap-1160 wireless router so that i can share the internet connection. It seems win 7 cannot or will not share the 3g connection when using the outer. If i set up an ad-hoc wireless network and exclude the router then ics works with no problem.

As soon as i try to set ics and use the router then everything falls over and i lose the internet and the wireless network. If the 3g connection is installed on the xp machine and shared using ics then i have no problems. Do the same thing on win 7 and it will not work. My local techie suggests setting up a proxy server on win 7 main machine and letting that handle the internet sharing. Any other ideas?

Internet Connection Sharing Using Usb Modem / Ethernet Card

I have a usb gsm modem connected to my pc. My pc is running windows 7. On the lan card on that same pc, i used a crossed ethernet cable to connect to an ip camera using http port 8080. That camera also has an analog video output and that's what i need to use. On the camera, i only want to access it from the outside world over the webpage to control the pan tilt and zoom features but as for the video itself, i use a usb video converter that converts my analog video stream to a digital bitstream which is then transmitted by a "server" software on on the pc.

This "server" program uses incoming port 9700 so client software can connect to it. T the moment, from the pc, i can:- see the video from my camera using internet explorer by typing [http://:8080] although that's not the goal but it at least indicates my camera is functional;- connect to any external web page without a problem to prove internet is working;- run the video "server" program that sends the video from that pc to a pc with a client software on another network - this proves that the pc on the remote network has connectivity to the pc with the server software, hence the incoming port 9700 on that pc is working.

My problem now is that i need to access the ip camera's webpage to move the camera. But i can't. I have been trying to figure-out this problem for the last two days and i don't know why it's not working. I don't know were to look anymore. All this worked just fine in windows xp but with windows 7, i have no idea.

Cannot Connect To Internet

I have a dell optiplex 760 desktop computer
Cable internet connection
Windows vista home basic operating system
Norton 360 internet security

This question has been addressed numerous times and i did read some answers, but each case seems to not be a perfect fit. I was on the internet and tried to to go to a different site and i got a message that the page could not be found. After that i couldn't get back to any page. I when i click on the diagnose option on the resulting error page, it tells me that it can't find a solution. The system had been running perfect for 3 months and i'm at a loss on what to do next. I did try to unplug to modem for 20 seconds, but that did not work. Maybe i need to unplug the modem for a longer period of time.

Cannot Connect To Internet At All

Have had no problems for months, but after a lockup and reboot i cannot connect to the internet at all. I am using a cable modem with a linksys router. Two other pcs on the router have no trouble connecting so it is not a modem or router problem. I am set for auto detect ip and my current ip is 169. 254. 88. 3 so i know it is a problem with tcp/ip or dhcs on my pc. I am running vista sp 2. I tried netsh winsock reset catalog

And tried resetting the tcp/ip stack with netsh int ip reset reset log.txt but nothing worked and no log file (resetlog.txt) was created. I tried reseting the dhcp service with no luck. Ny ideas?

Internet Connection Speed

I have a fairly new samsung r580 notebook with win7 home premium. My internet connection speed is fixed at 65mbps. My wife's notebook speed today was again 130mbps. Our top speed with cox cable is 156mbps. Our modem and wireless router max out at higher speeds than the 156mbps from cox.

So, why am i maxed out at 65? I tried to trouble shoot as well as updating the driver and still, my speed is 65. My notebook has a high-end processor. Is this a problem with win 7? Or. ?

Internet Connection Sharing

Im trying to create a wireless network using my laptop connected to the internet via ethernet(cable connection). Tried to set up an ad hoc connection so that my phone and ipod touch can access the net but when i do so and tried to share the connection through managing wireless networks i got this error - an error occurred while internet connection sharing was being enabled. Internet connection sharing cannot be enabled. A lan connection is already configured with the ip address that is required for automatic ip addressing.

Problem With Internet Connection

I am having problems with my internet connection. About a week ago, a message popped up saying i needed to clean the c drive and to click for help. I clicked and it ran something and told me to uninstall programs i wasn't using. I uninstalled things i did not think i was using but am afraid i may have uninstalled something imperative for making the connection. We have internet service cause our other computers are working. I may have deleted our internet connection but when i troubleshoot it asks me for info (i don't have) or for a disk. I'm not sure how to create the connection again.

Internet Connection Instability

I've recently purchased a new laptop - a gateway nv54zu. However, i've been unable to fully enjoy it on it as i get random latency / ping spikes and then immediate disconnects. The easiest way i can describe it is it seems as though something is cycling, causing the connection to reset / recycle almost instantly then going back to normal almost immediately.

I find the problem in most things i run (or try to) : world of warcraft, instant messengers, ventrilo, basic browsing (page time out in both ie and firefox), movie/music streaming and the list goes on. I've tried everything i can think of and even spent hours googling and trying to see what i can't find or where to start.

I've power cycled both pc and modem. I've disabled windows firewall, wlan, windows antivirus, norton antivirus. I've tried tinkering with the network card. I've updated every driver i could think of and even ones that weren't related (video, sound, chipset, etc). I've tried the latency reductions aswell. I have disabled checksum offload. I run "as administrator" and have tried various comparability modes.

I have called my isp seeing if it was something on their end. The connection was fine with my old pc (fried mobo - but running xp). This is the only thing on the network / using the connection.

I've hit a wall and don't know what else to try. *Any* suggestion might be the solution.

Basic information :

Gateway nv54
Windows 7 - 64x
Broadcom netlink gigabyte ethernet connector - driver version - 14. 0. 0. 7

Connection type : cable - direct wired
Router : none
Modem : motorola sb5120

Any other info - more than happy to provide if it might mean a fix.

Internet Wont Connect

Internet won't connect, can't access anything past network and internet screen in control panel, programs won't open or uninstall, everything just continually "thinks" (little blue circle spins round and round . I just bought a brand new laptop less than 5 days ago. The internet and all programs worked fine all weekend, up until last night when i turned it off. This evening, i turned on the laptop, and the internet will not connect, either wirelessly or when directly connected.

It's not a problem with the internet, as my desktop is working just fine. The internet icon in the task bar in the lower right corner starts off with the little blue circle on top of the bar graph, and then turns into an "x". When i try to right click on it, it pulls up the network and internet screen but freezes and will not tell me the network status, or any other information.

When i go to the windows task manager, it says all applications are running. When i go to networking within windows task manager, it says the wireless internet is connected, and when i connect directly to my modem, it also says that is connected, but no network ever shows up in the task bar, and ie will not open.

Windows also installed approximately 15 updates upon starting the computer this evening. I tried to uninstall the updates, but the uninstall program freezes. Updates it installed automatically include windows malicious software removal tool x64 january 2010, security updates (various), update for windows 7 for x64-based systems, etc.

I also have norton antivirus installed on the laptop (it came with a free trial). It does not appear in the task bar in the right corner anymore. When i click the desktop link, or when i try to open it via the start menu, it does not open. When i tried to uninstall it, the whole thing just froze (similar to when i tried to uninstall all other updates).

Can't Connect To Internet

I have just  brought a new toshiba satellite l500d laptop three weeks ago. Just recently i have been unable to connect to the internet. When i log in , i click connect to the internet and it connects. When doing so it freezes up my laptop and i am unable to do anything. But the weird thing is that when i start up my laptop in safe mode with networking, i can connect to the internet and does not freeze up my laptop. What do i do to fix this problem. Thanks in advance. When i log into windows, everything works fine until i try to connect to the internet through wireless connection. I have also tried using the ethernet cord.

Ie Wont Connect To Internet

When i click the repair tab for my network/lan settings everything checks out but ie and outlook express can't connect to the internet. I have a laptop that connects with no problems through the router, and i have tried bypassing the router with no luck. I tried a repair installation of the os (xp home) with no luck either. I could connect for a few minutes at first and then nothing. Since the repair install i no longer have any restore points.

Any help would be appreciated. Work offline is not selected. My os disc was sent to me as a replacement a couple weeks ago. It does have sp2 , so the drivers should be sufficient. I did try to update them with no change. This has happened to two of my computers. Any chance my re-install disc has issues?

Unable To Connect To Internet

Got a new computer with windows 7 a few days ago.could not hook up to the internet no matter what i tried. The other computers are hooking up fine and the old one was working as well. Anyways, we returned it thinking it was a hardware problem. Hooked the old one back up and internet is working fine. Found a really good deal on another computer running windows 7, brought it home, hooked it up and same thing. Tried everything called tech support, and after an hour on the phone trying this and that he says, "must be a cable problem, get a new cable. "

Yeah, right, he was obviously trying to get rid of me cause he didn't know how to help me out. So what should i do? I don't want to go through the hassle of returning new computer #2 and go through this again with another one.computer recognizes family network and gets wireless signal with almost full bars but can't connect and it automatically says internet was unable to connect to the network. Old computer works fine, it's not a matter of bad cables. All other computers work fine.could this be a windows 7 problem or do i have to get a new router? My current one isn't even that old. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Cannot Get Tivo To Connect To Internet

I set up an ad-hoq network connection between my tivo device and my laptop running windows 7. I can see the connection in the connection list and when i connect to tivo i can transfer files between the 2 devices. I obviously have no trouble connecting to the internet with my wireless modem but i cannot get tivo to connect to the internet.

Also when i run the windows network diagnostics tool, it says "i have ne preferred wireless networks" and "wireless network connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration" but with no clues how to fix either problem. All i want to do is connect tivo to the internet.

Cannot Connect To Internet Comcast

"what is wrong with my internet?" Ok, so, i am trying to fix my neighbors computer. He has internet through comcast.initially, i told him that he had to call them to have them come and resolve the issue. Well, they came out and looked at his computer, and they told him he had a virus. So, today i went over there and ran a variety of system scans to better help me know what is going on, and the scans came back with no threats nor any virus.

So i ran disk defrag, troubleshooted the internet connection, and nothing worked. So i plugged the router into his laptop he was trying to get wireless internet set up on to see if the internet was working, and it worked fine on the laptop. What could be causing this problem and how/what can i do to resolve this issue for him? I even tried resetting the router.

Cannot Connect To The Internet Using Ie, Chrome

I just upgraded to windows 7, and when i try to connect to any wireless/wired network the yellow exclamation point shows up saying that i am connected to the network but not the internet. Once i open up firefox (only firefox), it instantly connects and everything seems fine. However, i still cannot connect to the internet using ie, chrome, or any other programs including windows update and activation for which i get the 0x80072efd error. I have tried disabling the firewall, but it still doesn't work. Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any other suggestions?

Loss Of Internet Connection On Turning On

I've just got bt broadband through a hub and it was running perfectly on vista. A few days ago i upgraded to windows 7 and now when i turn the computer on there is no internet connection found. I used both the bt help thing to discover the fault and the windows diagnostic but they don't help, and the bt one says that there is a problem with the connection to the hub. I've checked the ethernet cable and used the installation disc but the same thing happens the next time i turn the computer on.

There's no problem with the hub because we have two other computers running off it which have no problems. The only way i can get the net back is to system restore to before when i installed a driver for my epson printer. Since it fixed the problem i thought maybe the driver was the problem but i've not reinstalled it and it still loses the net connection on turning on. I don't know what else to try. Any help is appreciated please =)

Internet Connection Not Working After Update

I always install all the updates that are released on "update tuesday. " This time around that wasn't a great thing. I installed them as usual and everything was fine. I came home yesterday to find that my wireless internet connection wasn't there, only to realize that the cats had unplugged it. After plugging it back in the connection came back on for a moment then i was disconnected again. I restarted the computer and everything seemed fine. I tried to play some games that my system always runs great but i had lots of lag in online play so i gave up. I woke this morning to find that my network id was available in my wireless connections but i couldn't connect to it.

The troubleshooter only gave a "there is a problem with your router/gateway" answer which was false as my wife's notebook could surf the net just fine. I then used system restore to go back and uninstall the updates that were published on 4/13/10. Upon restart i was able to connect to the network just fine. Also since that update i can't use the taskbar to open the network and sharing center or the action center but have to access these things through the control panel and this problem was not resolved like my network connectivity problem was. Perhaps the latest round of updates is buggy?

Internet Connection Access Controller

Does anyone know a free program (from a company that can be trusted) to controller internet connection access? I want to be able to connect to the internet via password once per time i'm on the computer and have it disconnect automatically when i put the computer on standby or when it switches users. The reason i'm not doing this through the modem settings page automatically is because i also have a wireless connection that i want to always be on (so that all i have to do is connect wirelessly with no extra steps on the computer).

Problem With Internet Connection Speed

If i connect from my modem directly to the pc i get an internet connection of atleast 22. 5 mbit/s and it can go all the way to 28. 5 mbit/sif i connect the modem to my wireless router, then to my pc and to 3 other laptops, speed drops to 14 mbit/s on my wired connection to the pc and to 2-3 mbit/s on wireless g laptops. Even if there is no one else connected or using bandwidth, the connection speed drops to half on my computer.

So basically my question is this, why the big drop from a direct connection to a modem and a direct connection to a wireless router? Is there anyway to hog most of the connection to my pc and leave a couple of mbits for the other 3 laptops? Ive tried using ad hoc networks but for the most part it has been unreliable. Is there anyway to use the following network config: internet -> modem -> pc -> router -> 3 laptops over wireless the router to blame for the drop in speed? What are my options?

Wired Internet Connection Problem

I have windows 7 on a brand new computer and it is connected to the internet through an ethernet cable to a westell verizon.net router. My internet connection appears to drop intermittently. (Less than a second. Then reconnects) this becomes irritating because many times when i navigate to the next internet window it will say that i am not connected, but if i hit the refresh button the web page appears. Is this a common problem with windows 7? I have performed some trouble shooting my self to no avail, i disconnected the ethernet cable and ran it wireless, but this did not change anything. Any suggestions for further troubleshooting would be helpful

Internet Browsers Connection Crash

I'm having problem with all internet browsers. This error occurs only when i'm using my main user, admin user. When opening mozilla or ie the page won't load. I have to wait like 2 minutes then page loads. I'm in guest user at the moment and no problems. It seems like my internet connection goes away, but no. I'm using msn and other connection required programs so connection isn't the problem. Still my browsers won't get proper connection to internet and won't load pages at first. Every time i reopen browser same problem occurs again. This problem really bothers me. I'm using windows 7 64-bit and running 4gb 2, 7ghz machine. Modem connection, not wireless.

Internet Connection Lost On Restart

I've just installed windows 7, after having windows xp installed for the last 8 years. Everything is more or less good, however i have an internet connectivity issue (which i did not have in windows xp - so can't blame modem/router for that). Every time i would restart my computer (restart/shut down and turn back on - same thing) i would lose the connection to the internet. The network icon on the bottom right would have a warning sign on it. The way i have found to solve this is to unplug the network cable and plug it back in, which causes the connection to reappear correctly.

I have asus p5n32-e sli motherboard and have installed the drivers that came with it after windows 7 installation, i have then updated the drivers to what was recommended by windows 7 in the update service - that is when the issue began i believe.

No Internet Connection Win 7 64-bit

I've recently been infected with a virus, and now can't connect to internet. The network connection icon on task bar has changed and has a red cross through it. When clicked it says not connected, and no connections are available. In device manager i get no network controller drivers are installed.

I've bypassed the belkin 802. 11g network adapter (pci) and plugged the sagem routed directly into the pc and still no connection. I know the connection is working as i'm dual booting this pc. How can i get the win 7 drivers back in if i can connect to internet?

Internet Connection Freezing Problem

I have an internet connection problem. I am using an usb adsl modem to connect the internet. Sometimes my internet connection drops, i can not connect to any site. When i look at the network connection shortcut (notification area) on the taskbar, it says there is no internet connection. However, it also shows that adsl is still connected. If i want to cut the connection, it doesn't. And after that i can not access the panel any longer, it simply freezes. Reconnecting the usb modem doesn't help. I have to restart the pc completely.

This was happening in my windows vista laptop, i thought it is a problem by the laptop. But it also happens in my windows 7 desktop. Same usb, different driver, different windows. What can cause such freezing in the internet connection? How can i solve it?

Wireless Internet Connection Problems

I got a new sony vaio laptop for my birthday yesterday and i have spent all night and all of today trying to connect it to the wireless internet in my house. It has windows seven and my computer techonologically informed friend says that because my new laptop is with windows seven, but the router is hooked up through a vista computer, that it is not compatible and my laptop is not letting me connect to the wireless. When we tried to investigate the problem on my laptop, it says that it is connected to my netgear system, but the connection is not strong enough for me to actually use the internet.

I did not have this problem with my previous windows xp acer laptop. It didn't have a problem connecting and allowing me access to the router. My friend believes this is a fault with windows seven, and so i have turned to this site for help. We have investigated as many possibilities as we could but could not resolve the situation. Is there something wrong with my computer? Or is this a common problem that is easily fixed?
