No Sound On Right Side

I checked & it has the latest drivers. All new system. It's a realtek high definition audio card. This is exactly what happened. Both speakers worked fine. I plugged my headphones into the right speaker. No sound came through the right side of headphones. I unplugged headphones & right system speaker has been dead ever since.system check of speakers & sound card say that everything is working properly of course. But it is not. Only left side works. The speakers are plugged into color-coded ports green to green port & pink to pink port. Your information was helpful but wouldn't fix the problem.

Second Monitor Wrong Side

I have windows 7 rc installed with dual monitor, works great. The only issue is that to access the second monitor i have to move the mouse pointer to the left direction. I hate that. I would like to move the mouse to the right to access the second monitor. Is any way that you can change the direction to access the second monitor? As i am wright handed i found annoying feature having to move the mouse to the left to access the second monitor. I used vista previously and the second monitor was accessed pointing the mouse to the wright. Is any particular reason that the mouse needs to be pointed to the left in windows 7?

I just started using this toshiba t110 yesterday. The monitor has a 1mm white line on the left side that starts 3cm down from the top and stops 4cm from the bottom. Not really in the way, but definitely something that should not be there. Tried adjusting the display size and restarting to no avail.

Explorer Crash - Cannot Open Start Menu

I experience a strange problem since today. As soon as i move my mouse pointer on the start button of windows 7 (home premium, 64bit), the explorer crashes. There's no way i can open the start-menu. I can start programs using desktop links normally, i scanned my system for viruses already and i didn't experience those problems in the past. The explorer just crashed and then is restarted (and crashes again as soon as i try to get to the start-button of windows). The only way to shut down my system is to use the task manager and i can only access programs by using desktop links. Most entries here deal with explorer crashes while using the right mouse-button - i can use right clicks without problem. So what can i do to fix this?

Can't Open Explorer.exe, Control Panel, Or Help

Brand new windows 7 computer - can't open explorer.exe, control panel, or help. Can't see or save to c: or d: drives. Got the computer last night, and it worked fine. But tonight i can only access ie, media player, etc.

I only have the default user account at this point, so i have admin rights. I haven't really done much yet since i just got the computer last night. I was going to transfer files from my old vista computer tonight, but i can't even open up explorer on my new windows 7. I tried rebooting, but it didn't help. I also ran the sfc; it did not find any integrity violations.

When i click on the folder icon on the task bar, i get a dialog box with a heading of "explorer.exe" and a message stating "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. " If i try to print a web page to xps, it doesn't commit the save on the c: drive (os and program files) or on the d: drive (data).

I have no idea why it is doing this! It is a brand new system. Last night i installed windows updates and changed the desktop background. I haven't installed any programs or transfered data. And it was just fine last night; this problem started when i turned it on tonight.

2 C: Drives In Explorer

I seem to have 2 almost identical c: drives on my laptop, which previously had both vista and win7 on it, and now only has win7. They're both called "win 7 (c:)". The first appears under computer (which is under desktop) and has 45, 454, 684, 160 bytes of data and the tabs under it are: general, tools, hardware, sharing, security, previous versions, quota.

Then, (under desktop) i have d: and e: drives, network, control panel, recycle bin, followed by the 2nd c: drive. This has 45, 454, 704, 640 bytes, and the tabs are general, tools, hardware, and previous versions. I can access any folder and file through either c: drive icon, with the only difference that if i click on a folder in the first c:, it opens a new explorer window, while if i click on a folder in the 2nd c:, it opens in the same window (which is how i like it). Why is this the case?  Any help to get rid of one of these (and have folders open in the same window) would be much appreciated.

Two Internet Explorer

I have a hp pavilion notebook pc. I was running vista home premium. I had a "free upgrade" when windows 7 was released. I followed the install (update not clean install) instructions for windows 7 and everything showed successful. My problem is i have 2 internet explorers. 1st- "internet explorer (64-bit)", 2nd is listed as program(x86) internet explorer. My computer is running a 64-bit system. This happened when i upgraded to windows 7. I thought (x86) runs with 32-bit system. How do i correct this? Problem installing other software.

Explorer Is Very Slow

One one of my machines windows explorer is very slow. Additionally the standard file open/save boxes in applications are very slow. I installed a windows explorer replacement and it is very fast. I can live with the replacement (in fact i kind of like it), but the open/save boxes are still slow. And no, there is no malware on machine. The drives are not full, and any way it appears to unrelated to how much free space there is on the drive.

Just so there is no confusion, this is not internet explorer, but windows explorer (most people access it by clicking on "my computer" on the desktop. I say this because have searched around there seems to be confusion about which one is asked about. I have tried the suggestion about thumbnails and indexing. It has not helped.

Apphangb1 In Explorer

Running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit my computer has been slowly deteriorating. I have run various scans (including panda in safe mode) and i am reasonably convinced that this is not a virus issue. When i run in safe mode everything seems to be fine. However, when i open in regular mode my desk top items are the icon for a blank page. More often than not, i can not run a program from the start menu. It generally searches and then hangs. Programs in the icon notification area generally are accessible. There are no program icons in the task bar, either blank pages or clear blocks.

Explorer hangs for various actions, including trying to customize "icon notification area. "
The problems really presented when i added a lacie backup drive and installed genie software (backup manager 8 and timeline). I have deleted those programs but the problems remain. I was able to backup in a variety of ways but i was not able to create a disaster recovery disc or create a system image in windows backup. The genie backup manager 8 indicated that volume copy shadow would not initialize. Their web site offered a solution which suggested some changes to windows services.

I tried it but it would never backup. Further tinkering (including installing a registry cleaner-since deleted) only produced a situation where windows wouldn't boot all. I was able to boot from my windows 7 backup cd and repaired windows start up. The computer is operable right now. However, intermittently access to applications is limited so it's not just a visual problem. How can i use the fact that windows in the safe mode appears to work to pinpoint the problem and eliminate it?  I am close to reformatting and reinstalling and praying the backups are there.

Explorer Keeps Popping Up

At desktop or during use of my windows 7 64bit ultimate the windows explorer window will pop up, the top right side of the window where the search box is will blink rapidly, the window will not close unless i type at least two letters into the search box then click the red x to close or if i open task manager and end task. This has happened since day one, i have tried a repair/upgrade and yesterday finally had enough so i reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows. The first time at desk top the windows explorer poped up same as before. This does not happen with my windows 7 32bit ultimate machine. I have tried for seven months without success to resolve this issue, anyone out there have any suggestions?

Explorer Is Not Responding

I purchased the 3-pack family upgrade windows 7 package. I have two computers, one is a sony vaio running 32-bit os, the other is a dell xps m1530 running 64-bit os. Both machines came factory loaded with windows vista and were not experiencing any problems. I formatted my disk drives before upgrading to make sure there were no ghost files or anything vista left behind.

Both installs went perfect with no issues. Right away both machines experience the same problem. When i try to copy and paste files through windows explorer (pics, mp3's, documents. You name it), the system just hangs and i get the message "windows explorer is not responding". The only times i can copy and paste is right after a reboot. If the system stays running for longer than 10 minutes and i try to copy and paste files it hangs. It doesn't matter where i try to copy files to other directories or usb key's. It just won't work. It only does this when trying to copy and paste. Other than that there is no problems.

Windows Explorer Not Responding

When on desktop, sometimes in firefox, the taskbar will not pop up and then i right click to open a program and the screen turns white and a window opens that says "windows explorer not responding". Mostly from the desktop. I have an hp pavilion a 6757c and was given the windows 7 home premium upgrade. Everything has been pretty good until the past week or two when i try to open a shortcut from the desktop, i get a window that says "windows explorer not responding" before the "error window" comes, the screen turns to an opaque white.

This has happened quite a few times while in a program in the adobe cs4 software suite which is very aggravating because i am taking on-line classes from the art institute of pittsburgh and this has happened in the middle of a design project or assignment required for school. I have tried the "wait for program to respond" option and left it alone for over two hours hoping to not lose my progress only to have to restart anyway and begin the project/assignment from "scratch". Please advise or offer a "download-able" solution.

Explorer.exe Uses Too Much Memory

My computer is running windows 7 home premium, 32-bit. I just discovered yesterday that my explorer.exe was literally chomping thousands of thousands of kb of memory just to run. (Going to task manager -> processes). Before, it would take, at most, about15, 000-17, 000 kb to run. Now, the only things i know of that are in explorer.exe are the background slideshow i had running, the gadgets, and the my computer/library windows i had open.

I have 1 gadget, a slideshow of 16 images, and two folder windows open. Before, i had 15-20 windows open and sometimes 40 slideshow images and 10 gadgets running at the same time and the memory still wasn't so high. This morning, it ate up 1, 432, 226 kb (1. 4 gb of memory) just to run. I was kinda scared, so i switched it to only one wallpaper, 1 gadget (the clock one), and no folder windows open. It still ran up to 125, 000kb. Does anybody have similar problem/solution?

I need more memory to make skype calls and use firefox. They keep crashing because i don't have enough memory. Even if i lower the priority of the process it still stays at a crazy level and actually, if i leave it be, it uses more and more memory every minute.

File Crashes Explorer

A file i have been downloading for a game via bittorent (legal mod for a game) that i was re downloaded to play with friends has been giving me some trouble. It started with bittorrent locking up when trying to check the files after i re started it, so i thought it was the program and uninstalled it and went to delete the 2 files i was downloading. When i try to delete the files it would bring up the recycle task bar and start locking up my computer and eventually crash explorer, even after that i can hear my hard drive making noise so i ran virus scans (avg), hijack this, ccleaner, seagates hard driver check (to see if it was dieing).

And nothing came up. I know have the two files sitting there and if i do anything to them, try to move them, right click them, etc explorer will freeze and crash. And even after it comes back on i can hear my hard drive accessing data or trying to do something. So my best guess is the files got corrupt during the download when i stopped the download and for some reason wont allow me to touch them. Any ideas?

Deleted Windows Explorer

I right-clicked the windows explorer icon on the task bar and selected delete from the context menu. Doing this in xp just deletes the icon. It looks like doing this in w7 deleted the program. When i press windows key + e i get an explorer.exe pop-up window that says: "unspecified error. " When i go to start | accessories | windows explorer i get an explorer.exe pop-up window with the message, "this file does not nave a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the default program control panel. " I just moved to this w 7 laptop from an xp laptop a couple of days ago. Any way to fix this?

Which Version Of Internet Explorer Am I Using?

How can you determine which version internet explorer you are using? I have been using version 7 but recently downloaded version 8. However, i keep getting messages on my yahoo web page saying that i am still viewing the browser with an old version of ie. I still have the old icons for ie on my desktop and on my start menu. No matter which one i use, i get the same message. When i look at my uninstall/install software listing, it does indicate that ie8 has been installed. Why i getting the message from the browser?

Vista Games Explorer

My games explorer on vista home premium 32 bit loads up slow. I open it up and it takes between 30 seconds to a minute before it loads in. In this time the laptop seems to hang till it loads. Does anyone know why or how to fix? I think it's a problem other people have had looking around the net on forums but no solutions i have found as yet. Once opened up subsequent openings tend to respond quickly until the next re-boot! Although it can recur in the same boot session if i do quite a bit of stuff such as play a few games and then try and relaunch the games explorer. Can't understand why it's so slow to open. It wasn't always like this!

I had the same issue on another computer running vista so it seems to be common.
