Sending Remote Assistance From Xp

Have an xp sp3 and a window 7 laptops. My xp video went down. Need to remote assistance to go through pc and fix drivers or get my files transferred (if possible). How do i send a request to my 7. I turned it on from what can see, but no where in any help does it tell you where i can send my 12 digit password to access remotely from 7? 7 asks for the password, but how does xp send it, or get one or whatever?

Remote Assistance - Is There Easier Way?

My aunt is 80 years old and does not know how to type. She was just given her first computer and she is always needing help. She loses her cursor, forgets how to scroll down etc. Is there a way to automatically connect to her computer without needing her input. It takes all my cell phone minutes just to try to tell her where the start button is. I have to describe the "round thing in the lower left hand corner of your screen with the red square, green square, yellow square and blue square on it. "Then on to finding the help and support words on the pop up.

We go through this every time she needs help it takes 20 minutes just to get remote assistance. Is there a way to automatically log into her computer remotely without needing her to click on anything? If not, is there a way to create a desktop shortcut directly to remote assistance?

Give Remote Assistance

Both my granddaughter and i are using windows 7. I set the computer up when both of us were together so that we could use this remote help. All seemed to be working fine. Now she is home again, we can use it for her to connect to me but for whatever reason i can't help her. What happens is i put the password she sends in, then it tries to connect, when it doesn't i run the trouble shooter and it tells me it is not with my computer. So just to see, i got her to connect to me by my asking for remote assistance and she could get into my computer. The remote assistance is checked on both computers.

It appears she does not get the pop up window to say yes after i copy the password and hit enter. What could be wrong. Can someone help me with this please. In case i am getting confusing - these are the steps we have used.

We open msn messenger, we start a chat
Then she goes to actions and then hits the "request remote assistance"
I then accept
She then gives me the pass word
I then copy it in the box and hit ok
And then nothing happens

Now if we do it vise versa and i am the one asking for help it will work. Why and how can i fix it.

Problem With Remote Assistance From Xp

I am currently trying to connect to my brothers computer through remote assistance. He is running windows xp and i am on windows 7 home premium. However, once the requests for assistance have been accepted, all i get up in the remote assistance window is a black screen. It says i am viewing his desktop, but i cant actually see anything. Is this just due to incompatibility, or is there something else that may be stopping me seeing it?

Remote Assistance From Wlm Not Working

Since upgrading to windows 7 i have not been able to use remote assistance via wlm (windows live messenger)to connect to other computers. A friend will initiate remote assistance, i accept the invitation, then a screen appears with the message 'trying to connect' and then the connection fails. This happens when trying to connect to windows vista and winxp across the internet. I'm using the latest version of wlm and my copy of win7 ultimate is completely up to date. Anyone know why this is happening, please?

Remote Assistance Leads To Blue Screen

I'm using win7 prof. 64-bit. I've been trying to use the windows remote assistance, but each time i try to open it, i get a blue screen and the computer reboots. The os ist normally very stable and i don't have any problems when using a "remote desktop connection". I just get a bluescreen when trying to open the windows remote assistance. I've been searching on the internet for a solution, but until now i couldn't find a thread which helps me solve the problem. Has anyone experienced similar problems? Does anyone have an idea?

My system:
Win7 prof. 64bit.
Intel i5 750
7 gb ram

Directory Assistance

Why do i need libraries, my name, users with my name, etc. ? I hated it in vista so i got rid of it and did a full version install of windows 7 professional. Now i have all the different directories. I just want one place for everything to go to. My pictures, music, documents, etc. Have a few different locations so i have to look all over for something. Whatever happened to just having a c drive and everything fell under that? And what is up with the 'access denied' box?

I am the only person who uses this laptop and i am the administrator and can't even get full access rights when i try to set them. Did i miss something along the way? I consider myself to be fairly computer intelligent for years & years now, and is this just something that is staring me in the face and i am overlooking it?

Need Assistance Installing Win 7

So i build a new computer and pick up an upgrade for windows 7; i have 3 licensed copies of xp. I allow windows 7 to format the new disk and install the operating system. When it refuses to recognize my product key or ask for an xp product key, i find out i have to completely reinstall xp first. Can someone please tell me why it doesn't perform this check before it installs the operating system? Okay, so i try to reinstall xp. I reformat the drive so xp isn't confused by 7 stuff. But now xp won't install. It does all the preliminary "blue screen" stuff, but when it reboots to install the os formally, it simply starts all over again.

Now, not only does windows 7 not work for me, it managed to destroy my ability to use xp. Way to go, microsoft. It didn't take 30 minutes for me to totally hate windows 7 and i haven't even seen it yet. Let me say right now that i'm very, very sorry i trusted microsoft to deliver an operating system with a bulletproof installation process. This is why i only upgrade my computers when i must. My other 5 computers will not be upgraded to windows 7 and remain xp (now i remember why i never bothered with vista).

So, before i totally go off the reservation and start using linux or macs, can somebody please help me get any of the 4 valid operating systems licenses that i have paid for working for me?

Trouble Sending Email

I installed windows 7 and windows mail. The problem is that i can get my mail but haven't been able to send any mail and the messages that are in my sent box were never sent out. I am at a remote location and not on my home isp network. It worked ok on my vista but after the upgrade  nothing can be sent out. I believe i have the correct information in my server because it was working before win7. Is there a number that i can call if i can't get a answer here? Thanks, my frustration level is now red!

Fax Sending Problem

I have been trying to send a fax for a long time now and it constantly says that the call had not been answered. I have looked over everything i could find on the internet and it does not seem that i am doing anything wrong. I have uninstalled / reinstalled windows fax and scan a couple of times but it seems to do no good. I still get the same message. One thing i noticed when reading the forums is that if i were to uninstall windows fax and scan and i were to reinstall it again , trying to send a fax for the first time, the fax wizard would pop up and lead me through the setup of the fax.

This wizard never comes up after the very first time that i set it up. I dont think i did anything wrong during the fax setup. The only thing that i entered was my area code. When i try to send a fax i hear the dialing tone and the fax tone for quite some time but in the end i get the same problem that i have described.

Sending Win 7 Overseas

My question is regarding installing windows 7 on computers that are not located in the same country as the country of purchase. So my brother is overseas in romania, and we wish to buy a windows 7: home premium package (for 3 users), and then use 2 of the license codes here in australia on our computers at home, and send the 3rd one for him to use in romania. Please note: my brothers laptop has been purchased from australia but he is now using it in romania. Will there be any issues with doing this?

Mail Stops Sending And Receiving

I have had windows mail on my system for 2 years now and suddenly it's started having problems with sending and receiving mail. This is not 100% of the time, but intermittent - it's been ok for all day for example but now it's failing to connect and is coming up with the error message 0x800cc13. My iphone is thankfully still downloading mail in the interim so i don't think this is a server issue.

I'm using windows vista and this may be coincidence but i'm sure this has only started happening since the latest windows update. Any / all advice would be welcome, i'm using windows mail for work and this is really proving a bugbear.

Mail Not Receiving Or Sending Emails

For the last two days or so, one of my email accounts is not receiving any mail, including test emails we had friends send to us. Furthermore, when trying to send an email to a different user on this computer, the letter was sent, but never went to the email i wanted. It came to the address i sent it from. The only email i've received in a couple of days. Lso, when i hit synchronize and send/receive, i get the error message window, but in the little tab where there would be an error code, it si blank, yet the window says an error has occurred! What gives?

Please help, i've been putting too much money into this computer since april (4 viruses, despite my paranoia and prevention of viruses)

Sending Pics Via Email Live

I have had my computer since feb. It is a gateway, 8gb, 1tb and was working very nicely up until about a month ago when i started having problems sending pics via e-mail/through windows live. I pull up the pic to send and the windows live box comes up but when i go to send a little box comes up, telling me that there are initializing errors with my hotmail acct inbox, outbox, etc. With a red circle by each remark. It also gives me an error id ox80070057 and suggested i go to support live.com to find out what that meant. I did and it said something was stuck in my outbox.

Well, i deleted all but 28 e-mails deleted every pic off my live profile, deleted all cookies and temp files, deleted some pictures, deleted programs that w don't use and/or don't need- oh. This
Is also because in the windows live mailbox that comes up to send the pics, behind the other box i get a message saying check your computer for low disk space and or low memory.

I don't have anything on my computer other than my pics, a few(4)) documents(small) & music. I'm wondering what is causing this and how can i fix it? Could it be all the songs my boyfriend has downloaded? I think it might be. He did delete 2 play-lists, but i just looked and there are like 30 hours worth of music on here and almost 430 songs that i can find. I told him i think those songs are causing the problem, but i could b wrong.

Fax Stopped Working For Sending And Receiving

This is a new higher end windows 7 intel based i5 computer with 8gb of memory. I have been using the windows fax and scan successfully before. When i went to receive a fax that area was grayed out. I lost all of my history of previous faxes. The name with fax number directory was still there. I manually copied the few listings. I also found i could not send faxes. It seems that in the print directory the print to fax name looks different. But i can't be sure. It now says " fax, microsoft shared fax driver" .

I confirmed that the fax is operational and the wires are connected properly by going online via a dial up network. So, i would think it's in the fax program software.

I tried to remove and reinstall the program, but in the control panel under remove programs i couldn't find it. Also, i'm not sure where to get the program to reinstall. I do have the windows 7 ultimate disk available. I tried going to "tools", then "fax settings". The blue circle circled and the window said, "not responding". Then it stopped. In other words, i cannot access the settings.

Problems Sending And Receiving Email Through Webmail

Here are the problems i am having since installing windows 7 and uninstalling/reinstalling ie 7; are they ie problems or something else?1. When i uninstalled ie 7 the hyperlinks in office 2003 wouldn't work. Dell's tech service ($140 and 5 hours work) reinstalled ie 7 (32 bit) and now my hyper-links in office 2003 do work. However:2. I cannot send email to my wife (different computers, same house). I am using windows live.com email.

She is using yahoo.com email. I send her email and she doesn't get it. When i use gmail.com she receives my email fine. But never when i use live.com. 3. When i signed up at the website zencast.com i never received a verification email. I tried using 3 different emails and none worked. 4. Ie 8 keeps coming up with a message asking me to install it. I don't want to because then my hyperlinks in office 2003 won't work again. Ie 7 is 32 bit. Office 2003 is 32 bit.

Ie 8 is 64 bit. My understanding is that office 2003 uses ie 7 for it's hyperlinks. Office 2007 and the upcoming 2010 does not - apparently. So until i get office 2007 or 2010 i have to keep only ie 7, not ie 8. This is my understanding. These are the weird problems i'm having since 1) installing windows 7 and 2) uninstalling ie 7 and reinstalling it.

Ie8 Crashes When Sending Email Via Owa

I have a new lenovo x200 that came with windows 7 professional. When using outlook web access in premium mode via ie8, if i try to send an email, data execution prevention forces ie8 to close. (Basic mode owa works fine, but it's much less user-friendly compared to premium mode. ) I have seen some postings by other people who have had a similar problem, but nothing that others have discussed has worked for me. For example, resetting the ie8 settings hasn't helped. Is there anything i can do to make premium mode owa work on this computer? Premium mode owa worked fine on my old computer that ran xp and ie7.

Remote Access

Hi, my wife recently purchased a new dell computer with windows 7, we use it for personal and professional use. The problem we are having is. We remote access into our office using a global vpnclient with sonicwall. When her laptop computer is directly connected to the server at home via an ethernet cable she can connect to the office with no problem. However when attempting to connect with our wireless internet through the wireless router she is unable to make the connection to the office. She has full use of the internet and everything else while using the wireless connection just no ability to connect to the office.

The vpn client says she is connected to the office network but when connecting directly to one of the computers via the wireless route, it is unable to make the remote desktop connection, while the hard connection with the ethernet cable has no problem whatsoever. We have quest for our home internet, i misspoke when i said server at home it is directly connected to the modem. We are using a:cisco-linksys wrt54g2 wireless-g broadband router wireless router. To the best of my knowledge there is no difference in special ports that are open between wire and wireless. Where should i check for a difference?

Remote Desktop

My computer at home is running windows 7 rc beta and all of a sudden it will no longer allow me to login using remote desktop connection. My isp has changed my ip address, which i do have the current one, but it will not allow me to connect. The ip address was changed due to a problem with the router and the router had to be reset to the default settings.

I've also had someone check my user status at home and i am a member of the remote desktop users group and my username does have a password. The network name is different now that the router was reset to the default settings and my computer at home can connect to the internet with no problems. Can anyone help me resolve this issue? Or any ideas of what is blocking my remote desktop connection.

Checking Memory On Remote Pc

How can i find out how much memory is installed on a remote pc under windows 7? I used to be able to do it in windows xp pro as follows: right-click "my computer" and select "manage. " Right-click "computer management" and select "connect to another computer. " Enter the computer name. Now right-click "computer management" again and select "properties. " In a few seconds, you can see the amount of memory, as well as the cpu and other info. If i try the same in windows 7, i can't find "properties" when i right-click "computer management. "

Midi Remote Driver

I updated by getting rid of my laptop xp sp2 and getting a windows 7 and i have issues with my midi controller bcd3000 (by behringer). It doesn't operate at all what so ever and i use it with native instrument traktor 3 pro (music program). No remote=no sound. I tried installing the drive as admin, even compatibility as winxp sp2/sp3, and have my uac disabled, with it on high performance and it still doesn't work. I have xps2 on my desktop and the controllers all fine and work. Do you think its a win7 issue or whats going on?

I looked all over the net and none seems to have mentioned the answer. It does require the os to be 32-bit and i do have 32-bit not 64-bit. Also i just saw win7 pro/ultimate do have a check mark on  [run many windows xp productivity programs in windows xp mode (separate download)]. So does this mean it might be able to work if i upgrade? And if i do and it doesn't would i be able to get a refund and downgrade back to home premium, or is this all a win 7 "not yet compatible" issue ?  Well thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks for any input/response!

Cannot Print To Remote Printer

I had vista home premium on my laptop from which i could print on an old lexmark z11 attached to another laptop running xp. Recently i upgraded to windows 7 and now i cannot print this way. Although the 7 machine can see the printer, it says it is 'ready' and i see stuff in its print queue on my machine, after a while these items disappear without appearing on the xp machine's queue. The printer shows no activity whatsoever. I have removed the printer from my machine and reinstalled it. Still no joy. The xp machine has extra drivers loaded for "2000 and xp".

Use Different Media Center Remote

My hauppauge wintv-hvr-1600 comes with a media center remote and a "media center remote control receiver/blaster box". I don't like the remote - the buttons are too small. I would like to change remotes. Is that doable? Is the "media center remote control receiver/blaster box" a standard mc component? Can i get a universal remote that will work with it?

I know i should ask hauppage, but i am interested to know how interchangeable these mc components are from the different manufacturers.
