Connecting To Network

I just reinstalled windows vista to my laptop, when i try to connect to a network its says there are none, but there is b/c i have another pc connected to my internet, i used the internet earlier today before i reinstalled, so its all set up right. I've tried plugging the internet cable directly to the laptop and internet explorer still don't work. The reason i reinstalled windows vista is today along with the past 2 days, when i start up my laptop i get a pop up telling me to update to internet explorer 8, so i did, when i restarted, the dell screen would load up and then it would just go to bank black screen, with no mouse, nothing, the desktop never ever did load in just stayed blank. I'm new to this, and don't know what else to do.

Connecting Canon Ip4600 Printer Into Network

I have a simple local network pc running windows xp – wired to router- pc has canon ip4600 printer attached laptop running windows 7 – wireless connection to network.

On the laptop when i try to add a printer (the ip4600) the search box recognizes the pc’s printers, including the ip4600. When i select the ip4600 the windows 7 installation wizard searches for a driver – only to report "no driver found" and advises i contact canon, who in turn advise me to contact microsoft.

Blue Screen When Connecting To Wireless Network

My computer crashes and shows a bsod very often. The thing is that happens usually when i'm connected to a wireless network in my office. I thought it was some problem with the office wireless network, but then it happened with the network of a hotel i was staying in some time ago. And those are the only situations when it happens. At home it works just fine, without any problems. What should i do?

Wireless Network Not Working On Netbook Connecting Through Desktop

Wireless network was working at first but now it will not allow my netbook to connect through the desktop. Sometimes it works but then stops. I got a new desktop with a netbook and all worked great at first but now the netbook cannot connect to the wireless network. I unplugged the router and reset and that worked for a few days but now it says it cannot connect to the wireless network again. Diagnosis does not find any problems. Router is about 5 years old.could that be the problem? It's a 2 wire that came with the att service.

Rdp Not Connecting

I have windows 7 pro 64bit installed on two laptops. I have remote access enabled on both and i have setup port forwarding on the router on the home laptop for port 3389 (rebooted router of course). Rdp used to always work prior to my reload.

Now, i cannot connect. Both laptops are live, sleep/suspend mode is disabled and from my netbook i provide the proper static ip address for sure. I still cannot connect odd enough and i don't know why. I have rdp enabled in windows firewall on my home laptop, the one i'm trying to connect to.

Any suggestions?

Connecting To Internet

I received a sony netbook for christmas which has windows 7 starter (i assume) already on it. I also received optus mobile internet which works and i was able to connect to the internet of my friend but when i got home i am unable to connect to my home internet.

When i choose internet connections and my home service it asks for a username and password. I have tired all usernames and passwords - netbook, internet provider, etc. I have a wep key and this is what i have used to connect my ps3 and psp plus other computers in the home but windows 7 doesn't seem to have this same function. Is there any way of changing the requirements so that i can use the wep key instead of the username and password? Or is this simplifying the problem too far?
We use a router/modem combo for all our other appliances. There is no button on this device that allows it to connect (this was suggested by someone).

This is totally frustrating and i was thinking of updating other computers to windows 7 but now think i will stick with xp and vista.

Wireless Printer Not Connecting

I have installed a wireless printer on my computer. I am able to connect the usb cord from my printer to my computer, and print just fine, but when i try to print wirelessly, my computer pops up a message saying that the communication could not be accessed. It gives suggestions on how to fix the problem, which i have done all of except for 1. It says to check the firewall to see if it allows the computer to read the printer. But i don't know how to find the printer option in my firewall section. How do i get my wireless to work on my computer?

Connecting To Home Wireless

I'll try to describe this as simply as possible. I cannot connect to my home's wireless. I can connect to my neighbors (not password protected) and my church's (password protected) networks, and begin to connect to my neighbors password protected wireless networks. My home's internet is up and running; there are multiple machines using it right now, including 3 laptops, a computer and a ps3. As i am running windows 7 on my macbook pro through bootcamp (3. 1), i can even boot into mac osx and i will be connected. The problem is this operating system, which i installed yesterday.

I think i messed up when i chose "public" network instead of "home" or "private" network during the installation. I think i've tried everything and any help is greatly appreciated. The message i get when i try to connect is essentially "windows was unable to connect to this network" note that this does happen with a few other networks around the area.

Problem Connecting To Internet

I am using a toshiba laptop (bought it for christmas 2008), with windows vista service pack 2. Living in dorm at ohio state, first noticed problem trying to connect through university wireless. Problem also occurs at home, on linksys.

I got back to osu on sunday from spring break, and i couldn't connect to the internet. I use firefox, never had any problems, but it wouldn't connect. My laptop would connect to the network, but the internet wouldn't connect. I took it to the it folks here, and they did a system restore to a few days back and then used internet explorer to bring up the internet. The internet finally connected, unlike before, and everything was fine and dandy. Problem solved.

Until i got back to my dorm and i tried to use firefox again and it still wouldn't work. The internet would connect through ie, but the firefox browser wouldn't connect. (I get the error message below) i successfully downloaded opera but it gave me the same message as firefox. I tried to download chrome, and my computer wouldn't even let me start the download. So. I've been stuck using internet explorer.

[Unable to connect. Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at yahoo.com
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that firefox is permitted to access the web. ]

I made the observation that my version of ie was outdated (got the computer for christmas 2008, and i still had internet explorer 7), so i downloaded the most recent version (8). And wouldn't you know it, now the newest internet explorer won't work! My computer can connect to the network, but no up-to-date browser will let me connect to the internet!

I have removed and re-added all of my wireless networks. I have tried to take down my firewall, but that didn't work. (Firewall is back up now. ) I uninstalled firefox, and re-installed it, removed add-ons and personal information, and it still didn't work. I have run scans with ad-aware, windows defender, avast, and malwarebytes, with no report of malicious files.

I have noticed that if i allow windows to install updates, this problem occurs. I have to restore my system back a few days every time it installs an update (i have since made all installations manual until this is fixed. )

Proxy server is disabled on both firefox and ie. I hope you can help me with this problem. I am talking to people in other message boards and my complaint is climbing its way through the ranks of the ohio state it department. Hopefully someone here can be of some assistance. If you need any more information, ask.

Remote Desktop Connecting

I set up a new computer with windows server 2008 and workstation windows 7 professional. The server has been in place. There are other windows 7 workstations allowing remote desktop. I have configured all the settings. I have allowed the computer to be accessed - allow access from computers running any version of remote desktop. I am using another port besides the default 3389.

I have changed the settings in the registry. I have created a rule in the firewall for a port - using port 3390. We are using other ports with the same ip address and they are working fine. I get the error that this computer cant connect to the remote computer. I even disable the firewall. I went to the site www.Canyouseeme.org. It shows the port is open and not blocked by my isp provider. What is left to check? I have matched the configuration with the other windows 7 workstation.

Connecting To Shared Printer From Win7 To Xp

Connecting to a network printer on my existing all-xp network with my new win7 pci have an existing small business network with an okidata c5150 printer connected via usb to one of the pc's. I can print from any of the exiting pc's with no problem. My new pc running win7 can see the printer, can connect to the printer, but when i try to print, it shows the document is spooling (for hours) and never prints.

After restarting the win7pc, the document is still in the que, but not printing or spooling. I can restart or cancel, but the document just sits in the que, showing the last action (canceling or restarting), without ever printing or deleting. When i check the printer que on the host pc, it shows the document. If i print a document from another pc, i can not see it on the win7 que. I've connected the printer directly to the win7 machine and can print with no problem, but couldn't get any of the other pc's to see the printer when i set it up to share from the win7 machine. What am i doing wrong and how can i fix it?

Usb Code 43 While Connecting To A Printer

Background: i have an existing printer (hp color laserjet 2600n) which works well with my old pc (windows xp)

I've just bought a new pc with windows 7 home premium (64-bit).

I have downloaded hp's newest driver for windows 7(64-bit) to my new pc.
"Hp_clj_2600-hb-pnp-win64-en"

I've connected the printer to the new pc via an usb cable

Problem:
Windows 7 will not install the new printerdriver.
The new pc repports:
Missing usb connection
"Unnown device"
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

This is already tried without solving the problem:
Restarting the pc
Restarting the printer
Device and printers/troubleshoot
Usb port controlled (it works fine with an usb memory stick)

Question:
How shall i get a usb connection to my printer ?

Connecting Xp To Win7 File Server

I have a windows 7 ultimate desktop that serves as my computer most of the time but also the home file server. I also have a windows vista ultimate laptop and an xp pro laptop. I have the same user accounts and passwords on all computers. The vista laptop works daily with the windows 7 computer as it's server for files and all seems to work well. However the xp laptop is not used much and is off most of the time. When i do try to use it i get "access denied" errors when i try to access the files on the windows 7 desktop. Rebooting the xp computer has no effect but rebooting the windows 7 computer resolves the issue for this current time and all work well.

How do i fix this permanently?

Bsod After Connecting Samsung Syncmaster Tv

My computer crashes anywhere between 5-7 times a day. I am running an inspiron 1525 laptop
4 gb ram, 2. 4ghz processor (duel). I currently have windows 7 installed. I have been having this problem for the last 2 months. Before you assume its a virus or anything of that sort, let me promise you its not. I have a bsod log that is a mile long, and i have tried my best to debug and figure out the problem. I cant. My computer is connected into a samsung syncmaster t260hd tv. The problem began once i began using this tv/pc monitor.

I have narrowed the problem down to the monitor. Whenever its plugged in and i am watching a video on my pc through the internet, the computer will randomly crash. It happens every once and a while when i am not watching a movie, but at a ratio of 9:1. This is not a problem with dells hardware. Nothing is broken. All drivers are up-to-date. I am tech-savy enough to have tried every update from dell, intel, microsoft, and samsung.

Connecting To Xbox Live With Usb Modem

I have been experiencing a problem on connecting to xbox live with windows 7 and usb-modem in my pc. Back when i had my old pc with xp connecting worked fine with crossed ethernet cable. I have allrdy tried to go in connection settings of my usb-modem and select to share the connection with other users. With that in xp it worked but now in windows 7 it won't work and my xbox can't connect in live. I think that it's due that my cable connection with pc -xbox is setted on public but that's the real problem. I really don't know how to change it.

I can change my usb-modems settings in the connection and sharing as underneath the connection name there is the "home network" link/button that i can click and change it. But in that pc-xbox connection there only reads public network and it's black so i can't click it to change it the sameway i did to my usb-modem connection.

Printer Problem Connecting Via Usb Error 0x0000007a

I recently connected my hp deskjet2360 printer via usb to my hp laptop (running w7 home premium 32bit) and cannot print at all. When i try to print a test page i get the following msg 'operation could not be completed. Error 0x0000007a. Operation failed. My usual setup is to have my printer connected to my desktop computer (winxp pro).

My hp laptop is connected via wireless connection to my home network, to which my desktop is also connected. Obviously this means that i have to have the desktop switched on in order to print from my laptop. Everything was working fine until i decided that i would rather have my printer connected to directly to my laptop via usb.

When i connect the printer via usb to my laptop, windows installs the software and reports no problems. Yet when i try to print a test page i get the mentioned error. When i then reconnect the printer to the desktop and try to print a test page across my network i get exactly the same error message. The desktop and printer are still working fine, it's just that i cant print from my laptop.

I have un-installed and re-installed the printer on my laptop both with the usb connection and across the network but it still doesnt work. The troubleshooter on the laptop reports no problems, and the printer is set as default printer. I also get a further error msg when i click on the preferences button in printer properties: function address 0x5aeba4f1 caused a protection fault. (Exception code 0xc0000005) some or all property pages may not be displayed.

The only way i have found to get around this is to use windows restore and to roll back my laptop to before the point when i connected the printer via usb. Any suggestions?

Blank Screen When Connecting Laptop To Tv With Hdmi Cable

Blank screen when i connect my laptop to tv with a hdmi cable. I am trying to coonect my laptop ( dell studio 1555 ) to my sony tv ( bravia kdlw4100 ) using an hdmi cable. My laptop is running windows 7 home premium ed. I have 2 questions in this regard - first question is what display settings do i need to change on my laptop in order to get the output on the tv ?

Second question - while trying to get this stuff working i changed the following settings- graphic options -> extend > to digital tv. Since i changed this setting i am having problems getting a display on the laptop ( when the hdmi cable is connected ). Even if i remove the hdmi cable the screen still remains blank and i have to hard boot the laptop to get it working. Is there a way i can get back to my original display settings?

Connecting To Shared Drive On Windows 2000 From Win 7 Workstation

Trying to connect to a shared drive on windows 2000 from my new windows 7 workstation, but it keeps asking for a user name and password. User name and password won't go either. I have windows 7 pro, we are running a windows 2000 server with our data on it. When i try and connect to the mapped drives on this server it asks for the user name and password. I am logging onto this windows 7 with the same credentials as i have set on my server.

Why is windows 7 asking for a user name and password when the previous xp computer did not? Also i can connect to shared folders on our small business 2003 server with no problem. Is there something i need to setup on the windows 2000 server to work with sharing files to a windows 7 computer? Very frustrating problem considering there is no mention of this online.

Bug - Bsd On Target Host When Connecting To Win7 Shares

When connecting to a network share on a windows 7 professional host, the target host (server) immediately blue-screens. This behavior is repeatable and consistent.

Scenario:

Two windows 7 professional hosts were tested. One host had a fresh load using the hp standard image. The second host had a fresh load using the microsoft retail dvd. Both hosts are members of a windows server 2003 r2 hosted activedirectory domain running in native mode. Default network settings are used on both hosts, obtaining ipv4 addresses via dhcp. Domain administrative accounts were used in all scenarios.

Tests were performed in the following manner:

1) windows 7 professional client to the c$ administrative share on a windows 7 professional target host.
2) windows 7 professional client to an explicit, read-only share on a windows 7 professional target host.
3) windows xp client to the c$ administrative share on a windows 7 professional target host.
4) windows xp client to an explicit, read-only share on a windows 7 professional target host.

In all scenarios, the target windows 7 professional host immediately blue-screens. This behavior could be duplicated 100% of the time.
