Cannot Connect Vista Network Printer On Win 7

I have a vista home premium network (32 bit) with 3 laptops and a desktop that has a canon mp520 printer attached to it. This is a networked printer and works fine with all networked pcs.
I recently upgraded one of the laptops to windows 7 (32) bit and could no longer print from this laptop. When i try to add the canon mp520 network printer i can see it in the select printer dialogue, however when i select it i receive an error "operation failed with error 0x00000002

The other pcs still work fine when printing to the network printer.

I also tested the printer locally on the windows 7 laptop and it works fine as a local printer.
The computer name where the printer is attached locally is called 'family-pc" and the printer name is "canon7".

I tried to define the network printer on the laptop as a local printer by defining a new local port for it and entering the printer network address, "family-pccanon7" however i receive an "access is denied" error.

I have disabled the public, domain and private firewalls on teh windows 7 laptop as well and this has not allowed me to attach a network printer either. I have also created a new user on the laptop with the same results.

Network Printer Cannot Connect

Its for my homegroup network with both computers running windows 7 (pc is on 64bit and laptop is on 32bot). I can print from the pc where the printer (epson) is connected via usb but i can't print from my laptop through the network. The homegroup works fine enough, i can access files through it. I thought originally it was pharos that was upsetting the computer (installed very very poorly and finally days later managed to get every sign of it off the laptop) - but now i get the printer being found but it won't connect!

I've been though a couple of other threads but none of it seems to work. The file and printer sharing has always been connected (as my brother from his xp computer can print to my printer) and the firewall lets it through. Is there any other way? The permissions are set to print for everyone so its not that either. Does anyone know how i can get my laptop access to print?

How To Connect To Canon Ip4000 Printer On Network ?

Using add printer on the windows 7 machine i can see the printer but i get an error saying that a driver cannot be found although the correct driver is available on the machine. I have no problems connecting to the same printer from a notebook running vista or if i attach the printer directly to the new machine. Cannot Connect To Network Folder Or Printer After Update

Suddenly after february update i cannot access the network folders, our network printers with my windows 7 machine and the logon script is not running because its on a shared folder. After a late night trying different solutions i did a system restore to a date before the update and it work directly after reboot.

Some time later the updates is reinstalled and the problems is back. When i try to connect to a computer or server in the network by typing computername or ipadress in file explorer i get the error 0x0004005 and also all my network printers are offline.

Internet access and all other access is possible, i can connect to other computers with remote desktop and from them connect to shared folders on my local win 7 pc. What the heck has happened? I also tested all the network trouble shooting guides but they find nothing.

Unable To Connect To Print From Network Printer

After upgrading to windows 7, unable to connect to homegroup & not able to print from network printer. Windows 7 upgrade from vista loses network connectivity to windows xp, and mac osx computers and can't connect wireless network printer. Hi, i have recently upgraded my laptop from windows vista to windows 7. While working in vista i had access via a network named mshome to our other windows xp laptops and 2 macs running osx as well as our network laser printer (lexmark c530dn).

Now my laptop can't see the other laptops or macs but can still print to our network printer, and obviously access the internet. I'm guessing that i'm going to have to setup a new network in order to see our other machines. In addition, i have recently purchased a wireless multifunction inkjet printer (lexmark s400 series). The xp laptops and osx machines can print etc. While my windows 7 laptop won't.

The software is installed, latest drivers downloaded, and the printer status is ready but it won't even print a test page. If anyone could give me some advice about the best way to set up a new workgroup (or reconnect to our old one) and get my new printer working i would be really grateful. As you can imagine, i'm now more than a little frustrated with it.

Can't Connect To Printer From List Of Printers Available

Windows can't connect to a printer i selected from a list of printers available. How do i get it to connect? We have two new computers, vista ultimate and windows 7 pro. (64bit) machines that join a domain when they log in. The first machine (vista) has a new usb printer installed and shared while logged in as domain admin. For the shared drivers it has 64 bit drivers (also asked to install x86 drivers if i select that driver type, but since only 64 bit machines will use this printer i left it unchecked).

On the second machine (logged in as domain admin), i add the printer (find printer by name or tcp/ip address: browse for printer - selected it from the list). It comes back with a message "couldn't connect to the printer. Check the name and try again. I tried to add it using the the select shared printer by name: ip address printer name, but i get the same message.

I am able to connect the second computer (windows 7) to a network printer (with internal nic) connected directly to the network but these other printers belong to other departments. How do i get computer 2 (7) to print to computer 1 (vista).

Printer Sharing Vista To Win7

There are 5 computers in the network 2 are windows 7 the rest vista, the network is over a netgear wgr614 the host is a windows 7 machine, file sharing is working well on all machines  sharing is turned on for all machines and password protected sharing is off. Sharing of a printer connected to the other windows 7 machine works fine for all machines.connecting the vista machines to a printer on a vista machine works.

However when i try to connect the windows 7 machines to the vista machine printer i get the connection window running for a long time (30-40 minutes ) and then get the message "can't connect to the printer". Trying to install the printer as a local port with thecomputer printer as the port returns "access denied" the printers are the same model brother mfc-9440 so the driver is already on all machines. I have read the other posts on problems like mine and it appears i have tried all suggested remedies. I have not disabled firewalls but they are all using the windows firewall, could their be a problem sharing from vista to windows 7 ?

Share A Printer Attached To A Vista Pc

I can't figure this out. I have my printer attached to my pc running vista ultimate. What do i have to do on my win 7 pc to share that printer? On te windows 7 pc i have 3 accounts - mine (administrator) and two user accounts.

From the administrator account i can go to the network and sharing center and i can click on the router icon and see the two pcs and then i can click on the vista pc (t500) and see the printer. The first time i did this it asked for a password and i gave it the user id and password of my vista machine and it installed some drivers.

Now the printer is visible in the printers and devices menu. Now i'm trying to print from a user account and i can't see the printer. So i go to the network and sharing center and i click on the router icon and i see the two pcs there. I click on the t500 icon and i can see the printer. When i double click on the printer, it tells me "access denied" what do i need to do here?

Sharing Printer In Win 7 And Vista

I have a laptop with a full install of windows 7, not an upgrade. The machine i am using as a print server has vista home. All the other computers that are on the network, whether they are vista or xp, have access the printer. I am the only one who has a problem. When i installed the network printer on my win 7 machine, part of the install process was printing a test page, which worked fine. That was the last document printed from the win 7 machine (on the network).

I followed the instructions found at: http://www.Howtogeek.com/howto/windows-7/share-files-and-printers-between-windows-7-and-xp/. After 15 minutes of work, i have the same problem. To be clear, my win 7 machine is networked with a vista machine, which has the printer connected to it. I see the printer on the win 7 machine, the drivers are installed, and others on the network have no problem printing.

Can't Print To Shared Printer On Win 7 Pc From Vista

First let me give you all the background i have. I have 3 pc's on a home network. They are all in a workgroup called "home" and all three successfully see each other and properly share all files that are meant to be shared. I have a canon mx330 printer connected via usb port to the windows 7 pc and it is installed and printing successfully. Also, both the xp machine and the vista machine see the canon printer under network/servername.

In the windows 7 network settings i have the following:- i do not have a homegroup setup because i only have one windows 7 pc- network discovery is on- file and print sharing is on- password protected sharing is off- public folder sharing is on- the printer is setup to share with a share name of "mx330". On the other pcs i added the printer as local using port name hostmx330 which found the printer and installed it using it's own driver.

This is the same method i used for years when the printer was connected to the xp pc and i printed to it from the vista pc without any problems. The reason i do it this way is because this automatically makes the printer available to all users, whereas adding it as a network printer has to be done one at a time, and also because the response is much much faster.initially i was able to print from the vista pc under my own user, which also exists with the same password on the windows 7 pc.

However none of the other users could print to it and none of them have user ids on the windows 7 pc. At one point i got one of the other users to print to it by turning on password protected sharing and adding that user to the windows 7 pc. But i didn't want all those users on the windows 7 machine so i kept trying to get it to work "right".

Now, after all my messing around turning on and off network settings, trying different security and sharing settings, and un-installing and re-installing now i can't even print to it from my own userid. It says in the printer queue "error - printing" and that's it. I get the same thing from both the xp and vista machines.
