Older Version Of A Program Installed But Not Working

I have been trying to install a program that works in windows xp (had to install it with windows 2000 compatibility). However, when going through the steps, i get to the dialog box and it has a 'start program' button. When i press this button nothing happens. There are no errors or messages. Simply nothing happens.

.net Framework Version 2.0 Not Installed

I've had lots of problems with my dell laptop. I recently had it reformatted and programs reinstalled so it was just like it came from the factory. I also bought a dell v505w printer with my computer. When i try to install the software it works ok except everytime printer or even start my computer i get this error message " "microsoft .net framework version 2. 0 is required to continue.

This software is available for free download at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads. "When i go there and try to download this software it says it will not install on 64 bit machines (mine is a 64 bit machine). Is there an updated version of this for 64 bit machines? Is there a way for me to stop getting this error message popping up?

A Program Or Firewall Is Not Compatible With This Version Of Windows

I am having a reoccurring windows security alert and  issue with my windows 7 home premium edition.
I have a dell studio1737 laptop. I get a windows security alert warning stating "a program or firewall is not compatible with this version of windows"

Name: microsoft console based script host
Publisher: microsoft corp
Path: c:windowssystem32cscript.exe

I also run norton internet security on my laptop. I am also quite careful about my online activities so i am pretty confident it is not a malware issue. But i could also be wrong.
I have contacted norton support and after removing and reinstalling norton is 2010 a couple of times. They advised me to contact microsoft support for assistance because they could not rectify the issue i am having.

Dell support have not been much help either (nothing new there). I have searched extensively for a solution and an answer but i have unfortunately not found anything that has helped me. Can anybody here help me with this issue. Because i am not filled with confidence at the moment about my laptops security? Also if anybody could give me any information about what cscript.exe is and why it is causing these problems.

Another Program Is Being Installed. Please Wait

Windows 7 professional: "another program is being installed. Please wait until that installation is complete, and then try installing this software again. " I get this error message (see title) when i try to remove existing applications or install new applications. I upgraded this compaq cq50z-100 from vista home basic in a 2-step process:windows 7 home premium upgrade windows 7 professional upgradeonce i had upgraded to home premium, i started getting this message.

Thinking i may resolve by proceeding with the win 7 pro upgrade, i proceeded with the upgrade (success, no issues). However, the problem persists. I tried performing a 'clean boot' and then 'normal startup - load all device drivers and services' and i still get this error. Need advice on what to do to resolve this issue. Short of recovery to the original vista home basic image saved via norton ghost 15.

Win 7 Says I Must Uninstall A Program Which Is Not Currently Installed

Windows 7 says i must uninstall a program which is not currently installed on my computer before i can continue with the windows 7 installation. When i attempt to install windows 7, i get a message saying that windows 7 is incompatible with a program called "perfectdisk" and that i need to uninstall this program before i can continue installing windows 7.

However, this program is not listed in the list of installed programs through the control panel. How do i uninstall a program that is not there? I also searched for a file by this name on my entire hard drive but a file does not exist by this name either. Is there a way to bypass this incompatibility and install windows 7 anyway?

Pre Installed Program Missing Files

My new computer was a christmas gift. It's a dell laptop inspiron 1545, with windows 7 os. It came with windows works pre-installed on it. It seems as if most of the programs are working correctlly, except for the calendar. A message pops up stating that it can't access one or more of the files necessary to open the calendar, and then advises me to reinstall "works". I'm hesitant to try this for several reasons.

1. , I don't want to void any warranties

2. , I'm just beginning to learn my way around computers, and windows 7 is totally new to me (i was using windows xp, and not with any expertise)

3. , I really don't want to uninstall and reinstall the whole program when it appears that just one part of it is not working.

4. , I don't have a printer currently accessible, so it's difficult to follow any lengthy instructions. Is there any fast and easy cure to fix this problem? Or any help you can suggest to a relative idiot? Just out of curiosity, it seems that the calendar on windows live is working, can i just copy or move it to works?

Uninstall Program Installed Using Compatibility Mode

I have been a satisfied user of adobe photoshop album 2. 0 for years and have a large library of photos and associated information that i wanted to migrate to my new windows 7 pro machine. I found that although the program would install and run in compatibility mode, the programs database is incompatible with win7. I have now installed the program in xp mode and things are finally running smoothly.

One problem: i would like to uninstall the copy of photoshop album which was originally installed on the win7 operating system. When i try to uninstall in the control panel/programs window, i get the error: this operating system is not supported and the uninstall shield wizard shuts down. I have searched for an uninstall setup.exe for this program and cannot locate one. Is there a way to use compatibility mode to run the uninstall wizard?

Program Install Error - A File That Is Required Cannot Be Installed

Program install error: a file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file setup has an invalid digital signature. Cabinet file setup 11. Cab has an invalid digital signature. When trying to install a software program on my windows 7 netbook, an installer information panel stated "a file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file setup 11. Cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt".

Thus the program would not load. Is the problem with the software or with the windows 7 netbook? If the netbook is the problem, can the faulty cabinet file be removed and replaced with a correct file? If so, how?

Win 7 And Older Programs

I recently built a new machine and decided to use win 7 as an operating system. We have been using quicken v5 for many years for our book keeping, however when trying to install it on the new machine, i get a message saying that the setup program should be run using the program manager. The program manager will only allow me to change or uninstall a program. I tried all the compatibility modes back to win 95 even and still get the same error, can anyone shed any light on how i can get quicken version 5 loaded on this win 7 machine?

Running Older Programs

I have recently upgraded to windows 7 and am very sad that i can't run some of my favorite older programs - games mostly that used to run well under xp. One of them clearly lists windows 7 as a system requirement but on starting it i get an error message - "the application was unable to start correctly (0x0000005). Click ok to close the application" . Another game (scrabble) installed correctly but nothing happens when i click to start it. The scrabble game runs well in safe mode (without sound). How do i determine which background application is preventing this game to run in normal mode?

I was told to restart in safe mode with networking and to re-download the other game but i couldn't connect to the internet in this mode. Can anyone shed some light on these two issues for me?

Error - The Version Of This File Is Not Compatible With Version Of Windows

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computers system information to see whether you need an x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

I have a large cd collection published by national geographic. The difficulty lies in installing the program that displays the pages. The program installer ends in . Ins. These picture cd's have been produced by mindscape. When you try to contact them, they are based in france, and it is impossible to obtain support for this product. Is there any way of getting the installer on the cd to do its job of providing a means of turning the 'pages'?

Error - This Version Of The File Is Not Compatible With Version Of Windows

My error message is: "this version of the file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or an x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. "

I've tried running the program in question (castle of the winds) in every compatibility mode that is on the list and all it does is give me that error message every time. Other people have managed to get the program working, so i know it does work on windows 7, but i can't see to get it to work for me. Help?

Install Older Device Driver

The driver that windows 7 installs for my audio device (idt high definition audio codec) doesn't work on my dell latitude e6410. I have the latest driver from dell, but it won't install unless i run the setup. I don't want to run setup, because a) i don't think device drivers should have to be installed this way, and b) i want to integrate the drivers into my mdt/sccm installation for windows 7. (I think) the root of the problem is that the dell-provided driver has a new driver version, but the date indicates that this driver is older than what is included with windows 7.

When i attempt to upgrade my driver and browse to my 'new' driver, windows 7 tells me that the device is already using the latest driver. I changed the date within the inf, and even went so far as to change the files dates to be one day newer that the microsoft-provided driver, but i still can't update the driver. Ny ideas?

Installing Older Programs On Win 7

In a data logger system an older windows 98 computer has been substituted by a windows 7 computer, but 3 problems have occurred:

1. When opening the computer a (visual basic based) program should automatic start. I have (like before) typed: run=c:ehdatalogehdatalog.exe into the file c:windowswin.ini, but nothing happens.

2. Also, i need a way to close the computer properly, when the measuring procedure has finished.

3. The visual basic (version 6. 0) does not work in windows 7. What can be done?

Running Older Programs From Cds

I have a few programs that obviously are not compatible w/windows 7 and are a little older than even 2003. Is there any way to get these programs to work on my computer w/windows 7. One of the cd's is one called, "family lawyer" and it has alot of legal forms on it that i could use due to recent situations. If i can figure out how to load that one, then i should automatically know  how to get the others to install. The error message just states that this program/cd is not compatible with your current operating system. (Which is windows 7 premium).

Compatibility Issues With Older Software

I just purchased a new pc with windows 7 and my older programs that worked on xp aren't compatible, like micrografx windows draw 6. I really, really like this program and have not found anything as good to use. Any suggestions? I had thought about splitting my hard drive 500gb to run xp and 7 but am not sure how hard it is or if it will cause trouble. I know i can pay $130. 00 to upgrade to windows 7 pro and then can run both but that seems so unfair to have to pay that much after paying a grand for the laptop.

Setting Live Mail Program As Default Program

I am trying to set windows 7 live mail program as a default program. It does not show up as an option on my "set default programs list". I know that i have it because i am using the program. Where else can it be? I asked this question earlier in the context of trying to attach smaller picture files to an email. I followed the written instructions in the help section and those of the person who replied to my earlier question(ramesh). They both said to select live mail from the default programs list-but as i said before it is not on the list. Do you have any other suggestions?

Can I Delete Program From Program-files (x86) Directory ?

Why is windows media player in the program files directory (i assume for 64 bit programs) and also in the program files (x86)? It runs ok from either. Can i delete it from (x86) and other duplicates as well? I also note that office 2007 seems to be in the (x86). Does that mean it is not a 64 bit program?

How To Move Program, Program(86) Data Folders ?

I'm going to install win 7 64-bit on a 64 gb ssd and i want my program files to be on my hdd or my d:/ drive. I've read a few articles that contradict each other - one that states to use a registry change, a microsoft article that states ms doesn't support such a registry change, and a suggestion that all one need do is to change the drive letter on the installation of the program.

I'd appreciate it if someone would help me understand the best way to change the location of my program files. I am also concerned about leaving my temp, tmp, and perf files on the ssd. Should those be moved? And if so, what might be a good way to do this?

Trial Version

Is there a trial version of windows 7 available? If not, would i be able to install 1 licensed copy on multiple computers using the same hard drive without activating it to test the different computer systems to see which ones needed to be replaced? Example: 6 dell computers ranging from 2 to 5 years old all running windows xp professional. I take a copy of my windows 7 and a spare hard drive to computer a. I remove the existing operating hard drive and replace with the spare hard drive in it's place.

Clean windows 7 installation, drivers, programs. Then i work on the machine for 15 to 30 minutes as normal to determine if the computer system needs replacement or not. Once i am finished, i remove the spare hard drive with windows 7 on it placing the windows xp drive back in. At the end of the day all computers are running exactly the same way as they were before i walked in the door.

I know i could use the windows 7 upgrade advisor tool however, it would not give me accurate information since all the computers are only running microsoft office 2k3 (excel, outlook and word). They would all be running windows 95 today if it wasn't for the security issues - only reason for updating from windows xp.
