Usb Devices Not Working After Power Failure

I recently suffered a power failure while i was using the computer. After powering on again certain usb devices that used to work well before returned errors. All attempts to get these devices installed fail. For example, when i plug in my sennheiser usb headset, the item is correctly identified by name but  i get the error "the drivers for this device are not installed (code 28). This device did not come with drivers and before would plug and unplug it without problems.

When i plug in my microsoft transiever v3 for bluetooth, i end up with "the drivers for this device are not installed" (code 28). This item come with my microsoft wireless mouse. When i try to reinstall the latest software, it is unable to detect this item. Before it used to work without problems. My logitech usb keyboard returns an error as well, yet a ps/2 keyboard works. Usb pen drives are working well. I am under the impression that the device database got corrupted. Is there a way i can reinitialize it?

Usb Devices Won't Work When Laptop Is On Battery Power

I've recently discovered that i am unable to use my wacom tablet or my usb powered external hard drive while my laptop is not plugged in. They simply won't receive power from the usb ports even though i know for a fact they all work. I recently upgraded from vista to w7, and did not have this problem while running vista. Is there a way i can change this? It's a little irritating for me, as i sometimes like to take notes with my tablet using programs like corel sketchpad, but i can't plug my laptop in during class.

Power Failure During Boot Time

I have a hp system that was upgraded to windows 7 home premium x64 from vista using the hp upgrade dvd. Everything worked fine until yesterday. The system restarted after a needed system update and by mistake i hit the power button during boot time. I press the button again to start and the system just does not want to boot. I have tried changing to onboard video on bios setup, system repair, system restore and safe mode but nothing seems to work. I also entered commands bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot

During safe mode it just hangs at ahcxi64s.sys and then it restarts again. The system repair log shows below:

Root cause found:

Unspecified changes to system configuration might have caused the problem

Repair action: system files integrity check and repair
Result: failed. Error code = 0x490
Time taken = 849535 ms

Multiple 9f Driver Power State Failure

I've recently had some issues with bsod's every couple days or so. I have added a ssd a few weeks ago and did a fresh install of windows 7 pro 64 bit. Shortly after that i started having this issue. I've read that it could be an issue with sleep/hibernate as i do use both of these features often. I have attached the zip file containing the dump files, driver info, etc from the sevenforums tool.

Intermittent Bsod Driver Power State Failure

Used free win7 trial on my computer when it came out. Rock stable. Purchased win7 home premium and did clean install. Now plagued by intermittent (every few hours) bsod and reboots. Needless to say i am more than annoyed that the free trial version worked perfectly whereas the paid version does not work so well.

I get driver_power_state_failure bug check code 0x0000009f caused by driver ntkrnlpa.exe
Or alternatively caused by driver ataport.sys

Blue Screen - Bsod - Driver Power State Failure

Every so often my laptop (hp tx2525nr) will have a blue screen of death with the error message: driver power state failure. It also will also occasionally freeze up and the screen will become all jumbled with lines and stuff and i will have to do a forced shut down. Either one of these will happen about twice a week, sometimes even more than that.

I have tried updating my drivers multiple times but no luck. I used to have vista (x64) but did a clean install of windows 7 professional (x64) hoping that would fix my problem, but still no luck.

They happen every couple of hours or so.

Crashes And Debugging - Bsod Ntoskrnl.exe And Driver Power State Failure

I have recently installed a ssd into my laptop and re-installed everything. I also switch the sata mode to ahci to improve the performance. But there is one problem that did not occur before is that after a long period of using the laptop, i cannot plugin any devices to the usb ports. Then i scan for hardware changes, and the finding window keep doing forever. So i try to shutdown and it fails to do so, after about 30 min it says bsod with driver_power_state_failure. This does not occur instantly when starting windows, only after a period of using. I have attached the sf diagnostic data.

Usb Connected Printer Causes Other Usb Devices To Fail

Operating system - windows 7 professionalprinter - canon multifunction mp530the printer is listed as windows 7 compatible and i have installed the latest drivers on the canon site. The printer installed correctly and all its functions work correctly. When i connect the printer to my machine and power it on the other 7 usb ports fail to operate correctly.

I cannot read a flash drive and my usb connected card reader does not function. If the pc is loaded with the printer switched off then all the other usb ports function correctly while the printer is switched off. If i then switch the printer on i can print ok but cannot use any of the other usb devices until i restart with the printer switched off. In device manager the printer is shown as working ok but the card reader is shown as "device cannot start".

Why Doesnt The Usb Power Off ?

Why doesn't the usb power off in windows 7 & vista. My led is still on after i click on the remove usb icon. Vista and win 7 rc1 still say i can remove the usb but the usb is still powered. This, in my opinion, can still affect the usb. Is it possible to have the usb power down like in xp. It is not a big issue but important from the stand point of possibly losing data on the usb or other device.

Usb Power Surge

I got an error message stating usb power surge/failure. Since then, all 3 usbs on my laptop are no longer working. If i plug an optic mouse into it the optic light doesn't even come on making me think its a power issue. In device manager though, all usbs are showing as operational (although when you select one and go to the power tab, it shows 0 under power available. I'm worried i have fried my motherboard but everything else is working fine. Any suggestions ?

Usb Drives Have Power, But Not Recognized

Here's my problem: i've got an asus ul50vt laptop with windows 7 64-bit.

My usb drivers which until recently worked just fine have stopped recognizing anything. I know there is power because my flash drive lights up, but i can't access either of them and my ipod is not recognized either. I have tried to uninstall the devices so my laptop would re-recognise them, but that hasn't worked because the uninstallation process through the device manager seems to take so long it literally does nothing.

I'm at a standstill and i need these three drives working. What else can i try?

Cannot Boot With Usb Keyboard Failure

I'm running windows 7 ultimate on a dell dimension e520, this has run without trouble since install. The machine is fully patched and with upto avira and immunet and a full scan with malwarebytes last sunday came back totally clean. However yesterday a blue error screen came up and before the machine powered down i saw a message about usb.sys but did not have enough time to read it !

When i power up the machine the keyboard lights initially work but as soon as i try to use it to boot the machine or boot from the install dvd the keyboard fails. I have a midi music keyboard pluged in, the lights on this do not indicate failure, but moving my qwerty keyboard to use a usb socket that works with that also fails.

Usb Failure When Resuming From Sleep

To start i have windows 7 ultimate on a homebuilt machine:intel core i7 920gigabyte ga-x58a-ud7 logitech mx 5500 revolution bluetooth mouse and keyboard when my bios is set to s3 suspend, the machine sleeps or hibernates as it should and wakes by moving or clicking the mouse, but when i get to the windows logon screen the mouse and keyboard no longer work. I've tried unplugging and replugging the usb reciever, moving it to a new usb port, and updating logitech setpoint drivers.

I am able to plug in a wired mouse and keyboard to control the machine but when i log back in it seems some other usb devices (ups and cac card reader) have lost connection, but my external hdd and webcam function properly. It seems my mouse and keyboard no longer show up in device manager and the only way to get them back is a restart. If i sleep again, while leaving my wired keyboard an mouse plugged in, everything works normally, until i'm back and the log on screen, where my wired keyboard and mouse will also be inoperative.

To add to the confusion, if i sleep or hibernate with the bios in s1 mode, then everything works fine, but unfortunately i prefer s3. I've checked all the settings in bios, keyboard and mouse are allowed to wake the computer (and they do wake it like they should). In windows device manager they are allowed to wake the computer. In power settings i've tried hybrid sleep on/off and also usb selective suspend on/off.

I updated my motherboard bios (rechecked all the setting), installed new chipset drivers, and installed these 2 microsoft hotfixes just for fun (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974476  && http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978258). I just tried using the keyboard and mouse on my laptop also running windows 7 ultimate, and sleep and resume worked fine, so that seems to rule out logitech drivers as the culprit, leaving me with microsoft windows or gigabyte to blame.

G5 Gaming Mouse / Usb Random Power Failures

Ok, after months of searching for answers as to why my g5 dies randomly i thought i'd beat my head against the wall some more here with the faintest glimmer of hope i might have overlooked a possible solution. People are already thinking, why am i posting about a logitech device here? Simply because i dont believe there is anything wrong with the mouse or the logitech drivers and i'm looking for a nasty, evil, evil culprit within windows. I love this mouse and it may sound dumb, but from a gamers point of view - upgrading to a newer model/diff brand mouse is not a solution. This is "the mouse" for me.

This device worked perfectly till i upgraded to windows 7, i have had it a few years and a very similar model for years prior to it. I have faith in it and it's durability. What i experience is difficult to explain but have seen it described often elsewhere. At times that seem completely random, the usb power to the mouse fails. Then, after anything from 0. 1s to 30s it returns. Some days this happens once, other days, like today - it will occur every 15s whilst in game and the machine is under stress. I've attempted switching usb ports, updated drivers for the mouse, chipset, tweeked power suspend settings and nothing has helped.

I have tested another bottom of the line logitech mouse, not a problem at all. I've tested the g5 on xp os machine, no issues. I'm not sure what has happened but until a few months ago, even with win7 installed the g5 worked perfectly. I believe an update i picked up somewhere along the way seems to have done something to cause the problem. Unfortunately though, i have no idea which or how to resolve the problem. Any advice would be much appreciated, as i'm about ready to give win7 the shelf and revert back to a more trustworthy xp.

Usb Devices Problems

Every time i plug a usb device into my computer, windows media 11 reports a fault and shuts down. I can't reinstal it, because it's no longer separate from the operating system. This started on vista, so i upgraded to windows 7 but it's still the same. What worries me is that i can't use my mp3 players and diabetes meter on any computer now - they are recognized, but i can't download anything onto them or even close them safely because i'm always told that they are busy with another task (they're not, at least as far as i know). Has the windows problem corrupted the software in any usb device i've attached to the computer since it first happened?

Usb Devices Are Not Detected

I've been reading a lot of posts in this community and in similar ones and i tried all sorts of things suggested there with the hope that my problem gets solved. Unfortunately it hasn't happened so far, but at least i know i'm not the only one frustrated. I have a toshiba satellite l30-10t laptop, running windows 7 home premium, clean install after vista home basic oem.

After installing 7, my usb devices (wd 320 gb external hard drive, usb hub, mp3 player, flash drives, mobiles phones, digital camera) worked fine for a few days, then all of a sudden were not recognized anymore. I don't get any error message, the devices are powered (lights on, disc spinning), but drivers fail to load. I've already tried the following (the list is randomly ordered) with little or no succes at all:

- Reinstalling the os
- Updated bios
- Trying to update the usb drivers
- Uninstalling the usb controllers/reboot and let windows find them again, both in normal and safe mode.
- Shut down, unplug from main power supply (with the battery taken out as well), left it overnight and then boot again
- Erased all the installed usb devices in device manager using the "show hidden devices" feature
- Deactivated the usb selective suspension in the power scheme settings and the "allow computer to shut down device to save energy" (my windows is in italian, i'm sorry if not getting the right names in english) in the usb hub's settings - solved the issue for a few days.
- Deleted the upper and lower filters in the registry as suggested in one post - this only caused a blue screen each time i tried to reboot.
- Installed the latest driver for the ati chipset (or at least i think this is what i did)
- Used this tool http://www.Zhangduo.com/udi.html to find any unknown devices, it found a couple, usb controller and usb hub, but i couldn't get any drivers.

I've seen a solution that seemed to work for some, though it was for xp, change the disableselectivesuspend value in the registry, but i couldn't figure out exactly how since my registers look a bit different than described in the post.

Conflict Between Usb Devices

I have windows 7 ultimate x64.couple days ago i bought apc smart ups 500va that has a usb connection to the pc to enable a soft shut down. I have installed the latest win 7 drivers from apc. I also have microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard 1. 1 and microsoft wireless optical mouse 2000. Once i installed the ups (it's using one of the usb ports), every time i reboot, the keyboard and mouse freeze and i can't fix that until i plug the ups out of the usb and reboot. Once i am in windows, i can plug the ups back in and it works perfectly. Re-installing drivers, removing devices and other usual tricks have not hepled. How can i get around this problem without replacing the hardware?

Usb Devices Not Registering In Win 7

Usb devices not registering in win 7 os except when laptop is restarted with usb device attached - no error messages displayed? I have tried everything i can think off this is my last resort! I am running win 7 home on a dell latitude d430 for which i have a separate media slice/docking station (which comes with its own usb ports/dvd drive/dvi port etc).

The problem i have is the usb ports on the actual laptop do not register any usb device when the laptop is on yet i do not have this problem when the separate docking station attached. The only way i can use a usb device on the laptop without the docking station is to plug in the usb device & then restart laptop. The annoying thing this is i have tried the following with no joy:

- Check device manager (all is well) & usb drivers are up to date (yes)
- Reinstalled win 7
- Enabled & disabled usb ports in bios
- Enables usb 2. 0 support
- Updateed bios version & chipset drivers
- Uninstalled & reinstalled usb drivers
- Separately scan for hardware changes
- Full virus check

I was thinking the usb ports where faulty at first but now im not so sure because if a usb device is plugged in e.g. Ipod then it will not register on os but will recieve power to charge & the same goes for my external usb hard drive as it starts spinning and led light comes on.

Win7 Will Not Recognize Any Of Usb Devices

Readyboost And Usb Ram Devices

Is there a usb ram device compatible with readyboost that would plug into usb and allow normal volatile/dynamic memory modules to be used rather than flash devices? Seems like this would be the next logical step to dramatically boosting the throughput. Sort of a usbramdrive. This could be very useful for corporate it support bumping up against maximum ram limitation and looking for ways to boost memory without replacing large numbers of systems. A usb ram disk would be a quick pluggable solution and maybe even a way to recycle older memory into a useful application.

Usb Midi Devices Not Responding

Just recently my laptop won't let me use my midi keyboards. I'm on win 7 64-bit. The drivers are installed and it recognizes them, but when i try and use one it tells me the midi port is in use whenever no other program is open. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling the drivers but this doesn't solve the issue. I also tried this fix from m-audio that's supposed to work if you've installed too many midi devices:http://www.M-audio.com/index.php?Do=support. Drivers&f=84 but this didn't work either.

It's not the hardware as i have a dual-boot and they work fine on the other partition. It was working last week and i can't figure out what is causing it. I have 3 midi keyboard controllers and all of them are showing this issue.system restore isn't an option as i had it turned off. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hotfix Wrecked Usb Devices

All my usb devices worked fine on windows 7 ultimate 64bit with asus m3n-72d motherboard with nforce 750a chipset and 8gb ram. Never had usb transfer issues prior to kb976972 usb hotfix downloaded from windows update as important update last night. After installed the update and restarted pc, i noticed my usb mouse cursor not moved on login screen then i used ps/2 keyboard to login windows to entered desktop.

Checked the device manager and found my usb mouse had ! Icon with code 39 error and realized the hotfix wrecked it, tried uninstalled hotfix as well restore but either failed to fix, still got code 39 error.

Searched internet for solutions, tried uninstalled usb mouse, usb controllers, usb hubs and reinstalled but still got code 39 error on usb mouse, printer, ipod and external hard drive.
How can i fix code 39 error?

Usb Devices Not Recognised After Upgrading

Usb ports have power but won't recognize devices i'm running windows 7, 64 bit and ever since i upgraded the usb ports have been really flaky and now they won't read most devices. I've tried by sansa mp3 player and nikon digital camera in my old laptop and it reads them both instantly, but my new laptop can't see them. The disk spins a lot, but nothing happens. The ports will charge devices, but won't recognize them. All the usb drivers are up to date when i go through the device manager. Funny thing is that i go from zero problems with vista to this. Any real fixes to this issue?.

Blue Screen When Using Usb Devices

I use an i2c to usb converter (aardvark) from total phase that i suspect is the device causing bsod on my system. I have been in contact with their support and they can not reproduce it. It also works on my colleges system (also win7/enterprise/x64) which makes me suspect that there's something else causing the problem on my machine. Attaching/detaching the aardvark device when no other usb devices are present seems to work, but attaching it with other usb devices attached leads to a bsod. At least this is what i suspect right now, it might also be random or i haven't seen the pattern yet.

I've looked at the memory dumps but most often they do not point at a specific driver, but system files instead, e.g. Ntkrnlmp.exe.

Can anyone help me pinpoint the problem from my log files (minidump, nfo, etc):
