Cannot Detect 2nd Hdmi Tv Display

I had a vga display as my primary display and a hdtv display via a hdmi cable as a second display hooked up to my computer. This worked fine until a month ago. When at first the picture showed only a zoomed in top left hand corner of the screen on my hdtv with all psychedelic colours the first thing i tried was a roll back of the updates but this had no effect, as dis changing the cable. Then when i changed the graphics card windows 7 stopped being able to 'detect' my second display with either card.

Any ideas or solutions would be most helpful?

Win 7 Fails To Detect 2nd Monitor On Boot

Clean install of win7 with ati radeon hd4550 pci express graphics card. Running a mitsubishi diamond plus 100e monitor and a sony multiscan 500ps monitor, both off the 4550 card. On boot, the primary (mitsubishi) monitor is detected and the second (sony) monitor is not. I can open the control panel for screen resolution and see both monitors correctly identified. If i select extend these displays, windows re-labels the sony monitor as generic pnp and the sony monitor then activates and works properly.

As soon as i shut down the computer and reboot, the sony monitor is again undetected and i have to go through the whole process again. I have deleted all ati drivers and reinstalled current catalyst drivers (8. 732, 5/26/2010), as well as current motherboard drivers. (Motherboard is gigabyte ma790gp-ds4h). Integrated graphics card on motherboard is currently disabled, although this made no difference to the problem.

Hdmi Second Display Problem

I just bought a new toshiba laptop and was setting up the second display to use my 42" hdtv. I had it going for a bit and was trying to adjust the resolution so that the hdtv didn't have the black bars as well as the internal/built in monitor on the laptop but i guess i selected the wrong resolution for the tv and now it is showing not supported, message on the tv, and the laptop has a black screen.

I can unplug the hdmi cord and get the display on the laptop, but, i can not change or edit or delete the settings for teh 'second display', cause it is not hooked up, and therefore not in the drop-down box. How can i get to the settings/resource file to delete the settings/resolution of the second monitor.

Computer Display Shakes Nonstop - Hdmi Tv Screen Resolutions

We just bought a dell inspiron 560. When i hooked up our 26" sharp hdtv (we'd used it on our other computer, worked fine) the computer screen was too big for the tv, and the top and sides were cut off. I've tried every screen resolution/aspect ratio and tv display view option combination i could try. I've found one or two that fit nicely, but the computer display shakes nonstop. I've tried rebooting but it doesn't work. The only difference between this computer hookup and our old one is the hdmi port on the dell. We bought this computer because it had the hdmi port for the tv, but i can't make it work is there a reason why the screen resolutions that fit the tv nicely shake? The recommended screen resolution is 1280x720, but it's far too big vertically and horizontally.

2nd Email Account

I've sent up my first comcast email account without any issues. I've then created another identity on the computer and tried to set up my second comcast email account but have run into this problem. It tells me i'm successful but when it tries to send or receive email i get a "logon to mail.comcast.net box asking for my user name and password. I type in what i think my user name for my second account is but it still won't "authorize" to get or send emails.

Activating On A 2nd Computer

I upgraded from vista to 7 on a laptop. Several features were lost so i want to go back to vista. With that i'm ok with. I have a desktop i need to reinstall windows onto (hd died and i am replacing it so no os on it right now). I originally bought vista for it and was using vista on it before it crashed. Windows 7 is compatible with all the hardware and software for the desktop.

If i reinstall vista on the laptop (and no longer using my purchased copy of windows 7), can i install the windows 7 on the desktop now? I guess what i am asking is, since i installed my copy of win 7 and used the key on the laptop, will ms know that i am no longer using the os on the laptop so i can use the same key on the desktop? Do i have to somehow unregister win 7 from the laptop before reinstalling vista, so i can install it on the desktop?

Win 7 Installing For 2nd Pc

I need some help how to activate my windows 7 home edition. I built a new computer all the hardwares are brand new in it. When i wanted to activate the windows it just doesn't accept the product key. I heard that if i install the windows for a new pc the activation can be issue because the product key is already hangs on (or belongs to) the first pc where i installed the windows first. But i didn't believe that can be true. So each time when i upgrade my pc or something breaks in it should i buy a new product key or the disc again ? Any idea what could i do ?

Missing A Partition On 2nd Drive

I purchased a new w7 pc. I added the hd from my old pc as a second drive. This hd had been partitioned to a c, e and f drive. However, i can only see the old c & e partitions (now with drive letters e & f). I can't see the old f drive which contained all my burned cd's. The entire hd is 160gb and windows explorer shows the e&f drives equaling about 150gb, which would be correct with the typical loss of some gb's. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what i can do to see the old f drive? Thank you.

Installing Win 7 Rc On 2nd Hard Drive

I've been trying to install windows 7 rc  on my 2nd hard drive for the past few days and i always get the same result; windows xp boots normally instead. Here's what i do; i downloaded the windows 7 rc from your website and wrote down the product key, i burned the iso to a blank dvd with cd burner xp (tried with nero 7 as well), used the slowest possible speed to burn, i reboot and make sure the first boot is the dvd drive using 2 options; f2 in the bios and f11 boot order, when it says to hit any key to boot from the dvd i do but windows xp still boots. What am i doing wrong?

Display Problem With Display Driver When Multitasking

Just installed windows 7 home 64 bit a few weeks ago. I have been having a problem with my display driver. The screed flashes and turns black and then comes back on with a message in the lower right of the screen that reads "display driver stopped responding but has recovered". I have attempted to download and install a driver from amd web site, which is supposed to be the correct driver. When i attempt to install this driver my computer restarts because of a corrupted driver. Windows won't let me install the driver that is supposed to be the correct one. The graphics card is a ati hd3470. How do i fix?

Also i am missing other drivers for my fitjitsu lifebook a6220 like audio for hdmi output and many more. All was working fine with windows vista, now im missing several utility drivers i called fujitsu they say they are waiting on microsoft! If windows 7 was to be released all parties should have been sent a fix with all drivers not wait for the consumer to purchase windows 7 and have to deal with all the problems!

Hdmi Output Not Working

About a year ago, i used to use an hdmi cable to connect my computer running vista to my hdtv. Everything worked great. After a while (a few weeks), the hdmi sound stopped working, and the hdmi device disappeared from sound. I never found an answer to the problem. Then i upgraded to windows 7 and the problem persisted. After a little while longer, every time i connected to my tv, the image on the screen would turn yellow. So now neither sound or video is working correctly. I know it is the computer's issue because it is the same on both of my tvs. How can i fix this problem?

Hdmi Audio Problem

I know that there have been other topics posted regarding this, but it is driving me crazy. I have an hp dv4-1430us. It was running vista, and i did the free update to windows 7 64bit. I have been using the hdmi out to watch movies on my hdtv regularly. All of a sudden the hdmi icon is gone from the playback devices. I have checked to see if disabled and disconnected devices were visible and they were. I tried every suggestion on the other post, to no avail. I updated every driver available by model number on the hp website, and intel driver wont load because hp has a modified driver they use and cant load anything but that.

I even tried using the spdif, and that does not work either.

Hdmi - No Option For Audio

I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit and i am having problems with my hdmi port/plug. Before this problem, the hdmi was working perfectly. Once i plug in my hdmi, the video appears on the tv and not the audio. So i go to the sound options in control panel, check to view disabled and disconnected devices, but there is no hdmi audio out option. The tv is set to receive hdmi, i've downloaded all the drivers, and i'm frustrated to my wits end.

Hdmi Sound Problem

I recently purchased a projector for displaying movies on my laptop. I also purchased a hdmi cord to connect the computer to the projector and use a set of old desktop computer speakers. I normally connect the hdmi to the projector via the laptop and plug my computer speakers into my laptop for sound. Just recently the sound does not work. I have tried everything. Speakers work fine on laptop alone, speaker works fine on the projector, computer speakers are fine as well.

The only time the sound does not work is when the hdmi is plugged in. I know that the cord is working for the video component because it will allow the computer to come up on the screen shen using the hdmi cord, except no sound will come from the laptop when the speakers are added or even without. As soon as ou disconnect the hdmi the sounds work fine. I tried every "check" i could find and nothing works. It has worked fine in the past.

Hdmi Sound Out Disappeared

I'm running windows 7 ultimate on an hp 8710p laptop, and i have it connected via an hdmi cable to my hdtv. I was running vista before with no problems, and after i upgraded to windows 7, it still worked perfectly. I used to have to open the sound window from control panel after i plugged the laptop into the tv, i had two playback devices: speakers and digital audio (s/pdif), you would have to right click on digital audio and set it to the default device and then i would have sound on the tv, and off course i would have to change the setting again after i unplugged it from the tv.
Yesterday after i plugged it back into the tv, there was no sound. Steps i have taken to troubleshoot:

1. Plugged other hdmi devices into the tv to see if they got sound.
2. Plugged the laptop into other hdmi tv's to see if i could get sound there.
3. Downloaded the drivers from the hp website for both the graphics card and the sound card, and reinstalled them.
4. Ran a windows update to see if there isn't maybe a patch.
5. Ran the playing audio troubleshooter
6. Checked in device manager that all devices are working properly and not disabled
7. Updated the drivers in device manager (they just said that the latest drivers are installed)
8. Checked services to ensure that all services that has anything to do with audio or video are running
9. Checked the volume mixer to ensure that the volume is turned up and not muted
10. Uninstalled the graphics and sound cards, rebooted, reinstalled them, rebooted, etc.
11. Rebooted
12. Trust me, i've tried it all.

I see hundreds of postings everywhere, mostly dealing with guys that have upgraded from vista to windows 7, and then losing sound. Mine was working on windows 7, so i know that there is some hidden setting somewhere that we are not aware of, i've already spent a couple of hours reading hundreds of posts everywhere, but the troubleshooting they talk about, i've tried it all, but to no avail.

No Sound Via Hdmi After Upgrade

I upgraded a sony vaio vgx-tp3z-b from vista home premium to windows 7. I had a sharp lcd tv as the monitor connected through hdmi all worked perfectly before the upgrade but after i cannot get sound through the tv hdmi, i can plug speakers into the pc but the sound is not as good as the tv speakers. On the sound settings the digital output device(hdmi) is shown as not plugged in.

I have checked for updated drivers and the ones installed seem to be the latest and sony have no support for upgrades to windows 7. I am really stuck and frustrated, i hate being beaten, can you help?

Black Screen With Hdmi Cable

So i recently built a computer, and decided to go with windows 7. I plug in the vga cable to my computer and monitor, and it works awesomely. I plug the hdmi cable into the computer and then into my tv, and the tv is showing a black screen. Even if i try to drag items onto it, duplicate the desktop, or even set the tv as my main screen, nothing seems to show up on the tv. Looking through the faq, it says that only movies and games would show up on the hdtv, but that hasn't worked either. Does anyone know what i can do to fix this?

Hdmi Output Is Black And White

Built myself a screamer, core i7 920, gigabyte x58, 6gb triple channel ocz ram and a powercolor (ati) 5770. Got it running, hooked it up via hdmi to my sony bravia 40" and everything was sweet. After about a week, the color disappeared. I get color on the sony during post and the windows 7 (x64) logo but as soon as windows loads: no color on the sony. If i switch to vga, i get color. But it is a 30 foot run to the sony and i get ghosting via vga.

I have checked and rechecked all color and resolution settings in both windows and catalyst 10. 2 control panels. I was about to rma the video card but the color during post and windows startup makes me think it will do no good. I have been scouring google for answers but as yet i haven't found the answer.

Help anyone?

Hdmi / Window Maximization Problem

I have this strange issue here. I leave my hdmi cable plugged in from my sony laptop to my sharp tv. I never unplug it. Problem is, when i close my laptop, then re-open it - all my open programs' windows are no longer in maximized state. They are "full screen", but not maximized. See attached for examples:

Normal:
Normal. Gif at pingy - free image hosting

Re-opened laptop:
Messedup. Gif at pingy - free image hosting

Nvidia driver:
8. 16. 11. 9107

I do not press power button or sleep button, i simply close the laptop lid and reopen. I do not require password again to login as well.

I have replicated this on dozens of nvidia drivers. I replicate this whether or not the tv is on or off as well.

Get Hdmi Working In Normal Mode

How to get hdmi working in normal mode? I'm having trouble getting my pc to output to hdmi using 32 bit windows 7. When connected via hdmi the screen shows the post/bios however the sides are cut off. Then it shows the 'starting windows' screen but after this it cuts off and shows 'no signal'.

I have a gigabyte ga-eg45m-ds2h motherboard with an intel g45/g43 express chipset and all of the drivers are up to date. I spoke to someone from intel who looked into the issue further and thought that the problem was that the driver wasn't picking up the digital part of the tv as it wasn't reading the edid properly. He couldn't however offer a solution.

Here is what the intel graphics properties diagnostic gives:

Intel® graphics media accelerator driver report

Report date: 6/8/2010
Report time[hr:mm:ss]: 20:4:58
Driver version: 8. 15. 10. 2119
Operating system: windows 7 (6. 1. 7600)
Default language: english (united kingdom)

Ian ps. It will boot into safe mode using hdmi at 1024x768 fine but as soon as i put it up to 1280x1024 it displays 'no signal' again. Seems to be definitely a problem with the resolutions.

Hdmi And 3.5mm Audio At Same Time

Right now, i have a 46" lcd tv hooked up with a vga cable and a 3. 5 mm audio cable. I have a second tv, a 40" crt hdtv hooked up with an hdmi cable. I'm running them as dual monitors.

Windows 7 will only allow me to select one audio device (right now the onboard audio. ) I can easily change between the two, but i would really like to run both at the same time. Is this possible in windows? If not, is there any 3rd party software that can accomplish this?

Hdmi No Audio To Sony Bravia Lcd Tv

I have a gateway sx2800-03, i upgraded to win7 ultimate 64-bit and now i get no audio through the hdmi port. My tv is a sony bravia kdl-40v2500. I have downloaded and installed all the latest drivers from intel and realtek and set the audio default to hdmi and while everything says i'm getting sound i get nothing. I had a section of unallocated space on my hard drive so i did a clean install of win7 ultimate 64-bit and for a brief moment i did get sound and there was a new audio option called sony audio output or something to that effect, but it has disappeared and i am back to square one.

Win7 Will Not Detect Second Monitor

I have a pc running windows 7 professional and windows vista ultimate with a dual boot setup. I have two screens pluged into an nvidia gts 8800 video card. The first screen is an hp 22" lcd which is plugged directly into one of the two dvi outputs on the video card. The second screen is a sharp 52", 1080p hdtv which is plugged into the second dvi port on the video card via an hdmi cable plugged into a hdmi to dvi adapter.

Both monitors work perfectly when i boot to windows vista but when i boot to windows 7 the 52" screen is not recognized at all. If i switch the cords plugged into the video card the 52" will work and the 22" will not be detected.

Cannot Detect Wireless Connection

I have a wireless modem set up and other laptops in my house can get a signal but my own personal laptop cannot. The wireless network list on my computer shows that the network is detected and that i am connected. Despite this, the signal comes in and out and tends to be very weak. The signal on the bottom right shows full bars so the signal is supposedly very good but somehow i cannot get on the internet. I have tried multiple websites and the message that internet explorer cannot open the web page comes up.

Dell Crystal 22" Hdmi Monitor & Hp Envy 15

When i connect the two, the screen displays properly on both the internal and external dell monitor. Once windows 7 gets to the login page, the external monitor goes black. Any ideas on what to try? Both hp and dell tech support say it's the other's issue, but i can't help but think it's got something to do with windows 7.

Dell monitor # is:  223-5647
Envy 15 is 64bit running windows7
Has built-in hdmi

The webcam works fine - just once i login to windows 7, the external (dell crystal 22") goes black. It's so weird because when they both fire up, both internal and external monitors look great. So frustrating!

Update - if i boot the dell crystal 22" connected to the dell xps laptop and then after turning on the hp i insert the hdmi cable form the xps to the hp, the hp can drive the monitor without problems. It just can't drive it through the windows 7 launch. I'll try reviewing the monitor settings but this monitor has already been running hdmi when it's connected to the xps so i'd think it would already be set.

Since i changed this setting i am having problems getting a display on the laptop ( when the hdmi cable is connected ). Even if i remove the hdmi cable the screen still remains blank and i have to hard boot the laptop to get it working. Is there a way i can get back to my original display settings?
