Wireless Internet Is Connected But No Internet Access

I just bought a new computer with os windows 7. As i was doing the set-up, it asked about the home wireless network and i identified it and entered the internet key. After the set-up was over, i cannot connect to the wireless network. It says connected and no internet access. It has the public icon and "unidentified network".

I have a "network error" window that keeps popping up that says "another computer on this network has the same ip address". I tried one of the solutions on this site to resolve it. I used the command prompt to release and renew the ip address and seems to not have worked. How can i get a valid ip address? And how can i make my computer recognize the home wireless network?

I upgraded the os in my two year old fujitsu laptop from vista home pro to win 7 home premium, 32bit. I have had since problems connecting to my home wi-fi with the strangest being that though the icon in the tray shows connected with no internet access i have in fact access but other times it does not connect at all. I checked the driver and is the latest and device manager shows the device working well. Ny ideas on how to solve it?

The router is relatively new and has been working fine with the vista machine.

No Internet Access

I am having problems connecting to the internet via wifi with windows 7. The connection works with my desktop and apple laptop, but my new windows 7 laptop cannot connect regularly. I can connect to the local network, but it cannot then connect to the internet. I have restarted my computer multiple time, restarted my modem multiple time, restarted my router multiple times, used windows problem solver to check for the issue and it hasn't come up with anything. What should i do.

This is really annoying, especially since windows has advertised how easy it is to connect to wifi, yet that is not the case.

Internet Access

I'm yet again having problems connecting to the clients internet at work on various sites i work on, i 've manually set up the connection and when i try connecting wirelessly it finds the router but it wont acquire the network address

I can connect by hardwiring but i cannot view web pages, i've been in contact with their it support who had me look at a few things and that the ip address was different to what it should be and that he couldn't do any more without taking the laptop to him

I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem could be, he seemed to lose interest with trying to fix it through constant emails

I have a windows 7 laptop which i can;t connect and a xp laptop that i used to be able to connect but i formatted it and now i'm having the same problem as the windows 7, i can connect both laptops to my home network without any problems whatsoever

Cannot Use Wireless Internet On Macbook

Cannot use wireless internet on my macbook when running windows 7 through boot camp. I have no problems at all when i use the same laptop to connect to the internet wirelessly using the mac os x operating system. My older laptop running windows xp also has no problem connecting. I've tried going to the control panel, then network and sharing center, then connect to a network, and it shows that no connections are available.

When i click on change adapter settings, only two options are shown: the bluetooth network connection, which is not connected, and the local area connection, which would be the wired connection because it says the network cable is unplugged. My router does not have a bluetooth connection. I made sure all the drivers were installed.

No Internet Access At Reboot

I installed windows 7 home. I have a netgear wireless home router wgt624v. 3 everything was working fine after setting up router. But when i reboot, it loses the router. I look under network before the reboot i see residential gateway under network infrastructure. And under network and sharing center i see netgear home under active networks. After reboot under network sharing center i see unidentified network along with netgear home network. To resolve this connection i have to disable then enable the network adapter. Then everything gets identified and i get access to the internet. I am at a total loss on what to do to fix this.

Keep Losing Internet Access

I have a dell inspiron 530 computer and since windows 7 was installed i am having internet problems. Occasionally i will have access all day but often after a couple of hours internet access will drop. I phoned our provider and was told that everything looked good on their end. After powering off the wireless router and removing the ethernet cable, nothing happened but once the router was powered off and the blue cable from the router to the computer was removed then replaced access was restored.

An hour or so later i still had access (according to the light on the router) but once i pressed the space bar to bring up programs the light immediately went off and there was no internet access once more. Since as soon as i touched the space bar, the access ended, i assume there is some interconnectivity there.
Please advise

Cannot Access Public Internet

I have win7 pro installed on a laptop. I can access the public internet on my home network but not when connected on my corporate network. When connected to the corporate network, i can access intranet sites with no problem and can ping public sites (like but just can't connect using any type of browser (tried ie8 and safari). Other o/s's (xp/vista) work fine on the network and connect to all websites. Have tried 2 different installs of win7 pro, the first being the factory oem load and also purchased a shrink wrapped copy and installed from a reformat.

There was no change, still can't access public internet sites on the corporate lan. It does work fine though when i connect to the same lan from home using our vpn client. I've tried turning off the firewall including my av software (trendmicro) with no luck. Any ideas what is blocking my web traffic?

Wireless Internet Connection Problems

I got a new sony vaio laptop for my birthday yesterday and i have spent all night and all of today trying to connect it to the wireless internet in my house. It has windows seven and my computer techonologically informed friend says that because my new laptop is with windows seven, but the router is hooked up through a vista computer, that it is not compatible and my laptop is not letting me connect to the wireless. When we tried to investigate the problem on my laptop, it says that it is connected to my netgear system, but the connection is not strong enough for me to actually use the internet.

I did not have this problem with my previous windows xp acer laptop. It didn't have a problem connecting and allowing me access to the router. My friend believes this is a fault with windows seven, and so i have turned to this site for help. We have investigated as many possibilities as we could but could not resolve the situation. Is there something wrong with my computer? Or is this a common problem that is easily fixed?

Can't Share Internet To Lan From Huawei 3g Internet Adaptor

I am in severe need of some help because i am about to go crazy trying to figure this out. I recently upgraded my mom's pc to windows 7 and i'm having trouble getting her network back in order. She has a huawei mobile broadband adaptor (3g), model ec168, that i'm trying to use to supply internet to her laptop and xbox360 via her router. I had it working for the last year when windows xp was still on her pc, but since installing windows 7, i can't get it to work. I'm using the same settings as i was before but i get nothing.
Here are the settings that used to work:

1. I enabled internet connection sharing on her 3g adaptor and shared it to the lan adaptor.

2. I set the lan's ip address to "192. 168. 0. 1"/subnet mask was the usual "255. 255. 255. 0" and the default gateway/dns server fields were left blank (since the pc was serving as the gateway and the dns sever).

3. I turned off dhcp on the router and set the router's ip to "192. 168. 0. 10"

4. I left the xbox360 and laptop set to "automatic"

With these settings it worked like a champ on xp, but i get nothing on windows 7. Also, everytime i turn ics "on" through the 3g adaptor, it says that it has assigned the ip address of "192. 168. 137. 1" to the lan. Not sure why but it does.

All ie7 security updates i install (cumulative or not) cause ie7 to not be able to connect to the internet. I have to uninstall the security update in order to connect to the internet. I have windows vista 64, ie7 and cable internet. I have checked for virus's several time using microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes antivirus and it always comes back clean. I am also running windows firewall and have put internet explorer on the exception list as well as turned it off to see if that was causing it from connecting and it did nothing. Internet Connection Access Controller

Does anyone know a free program (from a company that can be trusted) to controller internet connection access? I want to be able to connect to the internet via password once per time i'm on the computer and have it disconnect automatically when i put the computer on standby or when it switches users. The reason i'm not doing this through the modem settings page automatically is because i also have a wireless connection that i want to always be on (so that all i have to do is connect wirelessly with no extra steps on the computer).

Using Both Wired And Wireless Connection - 1 For Internet 1 For Printer

Using both a wired connection and wireless connection - one for internet access, one for printer access. We have a business dsl account, where we get 5 static ip addresses. We use the dsl router to connect 2 computers, a nas, and another wireless router, to provide access to others.

We have a networkable hp officejet 8500 a909g, but no longer have any more available ports to add it to the network. What i contemplated doing was hard-wiring the printer to the wireless router, then using the wireless card on my laptop, and a wireless adapter on the desktop (these are the 2 computers hard-wired to the dsl router) to connect to the wireless router, allowing us to see the printer and use it.

However, whenever i do this, the wireless connections seem to take precedence over the wired connections, which sort of negates the fact that they are wired in the first place. Is there a way to give the wired connection precedence, and then using the wireless only when we need to print? And does the computer being connected to two networks at one cause any problems?

Cannot Connect To Mshome Network, But Get Internet Access

Ok, i was trying to allow a network drive to be used offline on my wireless hp laptop running win7. I have had connectivity to the internet, printers, drives and other pcs for over 4 months. All of a sudden, i cannot connect to the mshome network. I still get internet access, but i can not connect to my drives, my printers or my other pcs. I shut off the firewall and disabled the virus protection. It lists the devices in the map, but it will not connect.

Is there anyway to force a connection to my local home network :mshome: via win7? At least in xp you can set up a home network connection. All win7 seems to have is the home group.

Wireless Connected To A Domain For Multiple Users On The Same Laptop

I am in a hospital setting. We have several wireless laptops where users will need to connect to the wireless network and be able to login to active directory. I have found a way to do this for a single user on the laptop but these laptops are used by multiple users. Windows 7 will use one users domain credentials to connect to the wireless network and also login to the domain, but it will not do this for any other users that use the laptop. It appears that it will only remember one users credentials. I assume this is by design but i was wondering if anyone knew of a way to do this for multiple users on the same laptop. I know i could create a single service account to accomplish this but we prefer not to do this for security reasons.

Any other suggestions?

Unable To Access Shared Folders On Drive Connected Via Usb

I recently set up a home network using the new linksys e3000 router, which provides a usb port for drive sharing, backup, and media streaming. I'm getting a message that says the folder access is denied, and i should contact the administrator for access. Fter spending several hours with linksys support, i was unable to solve the initial problem, which is to get full control over the files and folders on this drive. We did the following without success:remapped the drive. Made sure i was logged in as administrator.

Made sure the workgroup name was consistent. Ttempted to assign full control with permissions. This was particularly strange. When i set permissions to full control for any group or user, after clicking apply windows would attempt to set new permissions, but then the folder would go right back to having limited permissions. I was unable to edit. I'm assuming this is where the problem is. Ny idea why i can't change the permissions on these network folders?

Connecting To Internet

I received a sony netbook for christmas which has windows 7 starter (i assume) already on it. I also received optus mobile internet which works and i was able to connect to the internet of my friend but when i got home i am unable to connect to my home internet.

When i choose internet connections and my home service it asks for a username and password. I have tired all usernames and passwords - netbook, internet provider, etc. I have a wep key and this is what i have used to connect my ps3 and psp plus other computers in the home but windows 7 doesn't seem to have this same function. Is there any way of changing the requirements so that i can use the wep key instead of the username and password? Or is this simplifying the problem too far?
We use a router/modem combo for all our other appliances. There is no button on this device that allows it to connect (this was suggested by someone).

This is totally frustrating and i was thinking of updating other computers to windows 7 but now think i will stick with xp and vista.

Win 7 Internet

The majority of web pages will not load or take a very long time to load. It only happens on my windows 7 partition, not xp or vista. I've tried firefox, chrome, and ie. Using an asus striker extreme mobo with all drivers updated. Also when i am able to download a file sometimes it is corrupted when it finishes downloading, so an exe file will give an error when you try to run it for instance. I don't care as much about the others but i seem to have had problems with networking and the internet on any computer i install windows 7 on.

Tried it on an hp laptop and a lenovo laptop both with intel networking. The lenovo seemed to work fine over ethernet but always had problems with wireless. The hp always has problems. Installed it on a mac book pro with broadcom networking and had similar problems. I hope it's just general laziness on the part of companies writing the drivers and it'll be fixed by official release, but it's really annoying because the os is great otherwise and other users are not so patient as i am.
