Bsod After Installing 8gb Ram On Win 7 64-bit

My computer has been running fine on 4gb ram. I installed 4 more gb of the exact same type of ram and the system has been unstable since, getting multiple blue screens of death, etc. I have uploaded the .dmp file here if anyone could take a look at it.

Bsod Related With Dxgmms1 When Playing Games Using 8gb Ram

I just built a brand new computer when a fresh install of windows 7 home ultimate 64 bit. This computer has never had any other os on it. I am having an issue when playing dragon age origins that the computer with bsod when i have 8 gb of ram in the computer. With only 4 gb in, the computer is rock solid.

I have tested all the ram in memtest86 overnight with no issues. I have tried different sets of the 4 gb and they all work fine. The problem is when i try to use 8 gb. I think the are the most important components. I have installed all windows updates, have the latest mobo bios, and the latest video drivers.

Dell Xps 710 - 8gb Ram With Win 7 64-bit

Unable to get to 8gb ram on x64 dell xps 710 windows 7. Less than 6 works fine. Notice asymmetric vs interleaved and sdram speed listings change. Dell xps710 did clean install of windows 7 x64 from xp. All went well and things worked fine for a while. Decided i wanted to get more out of my x64 machine so decided to upgrade the ram from 4x1gb to the system max 4x2gb. I originally ordered the wrong ram (pc2-6400 800mhz) and when i installed them the system wouldn't even turn on.

Picked up the correct pc2-5300 667mhz 4x2gb units and after a clean install i put 2x2gb sdrams in with 2x1gb original sdrams. Machine shows 6. 0 gb installed and lists them as 667mhz and dual asymmetric. Everything works fine.

If i installed 4x2gb sdrams, the system says 8gb installed but lists them as 800mhz and dual interleaved? Won't make it through startup. Will try to do a repair but nothing works. Go back to 6 or 4 gb and things are fine? Any ideas?

Win 7 64-bit Bsod When Playing Wow Game - Ram Issue

I've been getting windows blue screen of death for some time. I thought it was one of my ram because after swapping them in and out of every slot and even one at a time. One of them was the one that was causing the bsod while the other one was stable. So i replaced both with 4 new sticks and now i'm getting bsod even more often. Like every 30 mins. Before i used to only get it when i was playing a game like wow when i had 2 sticks of ram in and i could go days without crashing. With 1 stick it was constantly stable. Here's are my 2 most recent errors:

Blue Screen Error On Startup With 8gb Ram

Blue screen error on startup with 8gb ram but not 4 gb ram. It seems that when i install only 4gb ram all is fine. But when i install the next set for a total of 8gb ram i will get bsod on cold boot. If i switch the system off then back on it seems to start up just fine. I have done every kind of memory test on all sticks, hardware test and even some crying. Every test comes back perfect! All drivers are up to date along with the bios and all firmware.

4105 Mb Of 8gb Ram Assigned To Hardware Reserved

4105 mb of 8gb ram assigned to "hardware reserved" with 64-bit windows 7, why? And how do i fix it?I managed to run out of memory today with only firefox and ms publisher running. Given that i invested in 8gb of ram and a 64-bit operating system, this was completely unexpected. I've verified that the system type is 64-bit operating sytem and can see installed memory (ram) 8. 00 gb (3. 99 gb usable).

Given how much on-board memory is on both my cpu and gpu, it seems like very little memory should be "hardware reserved". What might be causing this issue and how can i investigate it? Searches on the internet all just talked about how 32-bit windows couldn't read the other memory, but i don't have 32-bit windows.

Missing Ram - 8gb Bought 6gb Installed

I have a new dell computer with windows 7 pro. I purchased 8gb of ram. In system information and anywhere else i can find a reference to installed ram i am being told that the installed physical memory is 6gb ram. I have taken this up with the dell partner that i bought the computer from but they have not come back to me. I have posted on the dell forum and been told to look in the bios but i am not a techi and i do not know how to do that. Now a moderator on the dell forum is telling me to post on a microsoft support forum as they think it is a win 7 problem. So can anyone help please?

Bsod When More Than 2gb Of Ram Installed

Customer brought in a toshiba portege m800 laptop. Problem it is having is that on a clean install of windows 7 pro 64bit, it will bsod with 0x7e, 0x0a, or 0x1e when there is more than 2gb of memory installed. It boots perfectly fine with 2gb or less.

Motherboard, processor, hard drive, and memory have been replaced. I've tried using different brands of memory, different speeds all with the same problem. All memory that has been used has passed every test thrown at it. The bios reports the correct amount of memory installed no matter how much is installed. The computer can handle up to 8gb of memory.

I know vista had a similar problem, but i was not able to find a hotfix for windows 7 and of course the vista hotfix will not install on 7. Any ideas on solving this problem?

Win 7 Crashes After Installing More Ram

I bought new ram (4gb) for my system, but as soon as i install it, i get a rash of bluescreen crashes and total shutdowns.

It is the correct type of memory (ddr2), my motherboard can handle up to 16gb (asus p5q se2), and i'm running 64-bit win 7, so i should be able to use past 2gb of ram.

"My computer" shows that the system now has 4gb of ram, as does the bios list, so the sticks must not be faulty.

To make it even more confusing, i can work in safe mode (which is how i'm posting this). I am completely stumped.

Bsod After Installing Xp Mode And Virtual Pc

I am getting the bsod after rebooting my machine after installing xp mode and windows virtual pc. After installing xp mode and then wvpc, the computer reboots and finishes the update. At that point i can bring up xp mode and use it. It is the next time i restart the computer i get the bsod. I have narrowed down the problem to the windows virtual pc update (kb958559) that is causing the problem, but no idea why. I can consistently replicate the problem and system restore is the only way to get the machine to work again. I was on windows 7 home premium and upgraded to professional using the upgrade anywhere. My chip will handle hardware virtualization and it is turned on in my bios (can't manually do it, but it is turned on by default and the windows tool confirmed it). Dell studio xps 9000. Any help would be appreciated. Getting a little frustrated at this point.

Win 7 64-bit Ram Is Gone

Upgraded from windows vista 32 bit version to windows 7 64 bit version, hoping for the improved performance by being able to use all my ram in the 64 bit version, my 4 gigs of ram previously being limited to 3. 3 due to the inherent nature of 32 bit os's. I formatted the system drive as directed so i could put in a fresh 64 bit install on the system. After all was up and set, i hit the desktop and checked my ram, it was reading 2 gigs.

Upon further investigation it is now showing 2 gigs of ram in bios as well, but here's the sticker. It's detecting both dimm 2 gig sticks, just only half of each stick! Did windows 7 quietly flash my bios? I can't fix this issue no matter what settings i try, and post is quite insistent i only have 2 gigs now. I tried changing each stick individually and with each one only in the system, both each read 1 gig alone, they were 2 gig sticks before windows 7!

Motherboard: evga nforce 780 sli
Ram: 2 gig  patriot dimm 800hrz ramx2

Bsod When Installing Nvidia Card Drivers

Important info:
Graphics card: geforce 7950 gx2
Ram: 2 gigabytes
Hdd: 400 gigabyte sata drive
Processor: amd athlon 64 fx-62 (dual core, 2. 8 ghz)

I have a shuttle pc, and am running the latest bios, not sure the version number, but i just flashed it several days ago when still on xp.

Okay, here goes. I just installed a clean copy of windows 7 x64 pro over windows xp. It was a major pain, i kept getting a blue screen error when setup was 'completing'. It was a stop error for file nvlddmkm.sys, which after some research, i believe it to be a nvidia file. I could not get win7 to install.

Finally, after hours of research, i finally got it to work by deleting the nvlddmkm.sys files during the 'expanding windows files' step. This was done via command prompt (shift f10). I believe i found the steps for this process here.

Continuing, i'm finally booted into windows, and i'm assuming that i am running the basic windows vga drivers. I ran windows update and attempted to install the drivers for my 7950 gx2, reboot, 'windows is starting', bsod. Boot into safe mode, uninstall drivers, install drivers from nvidia, reboot, bsod.

It seems that no matter what set of drivers i install, after i reboot, the computer will say 'starting windows' and then will get the bsod. The code is 116, and the associated file is nvlddmkm.sys.

I know that during the install process that i deleted the nvlddmkm.sys file from two locations. I believe one was in the system32 folder, can't remember the other location. Currently, this file is not located in the drivers folder (c:windowssystem32drivers).

Can you guys please help me in getting my graphics card drivers installed?  No matter what i do, i get a bsod after a reboot and before windows loads. I have tried several versions of the driver but to no avail. I believe i might need to copy the nvlddmkm.sys file to somewhere. I do have a nvlddmkm. Sy_ file that is packaged with all the drivers, but i believe it needs to be expanded?

Not Showing All Ram In Win 7 32-bit

I have just built from the ground up a new system with 4 gb ram. I have installed win 7 32 bit. The bios shows 4g, but windows only recognizes 2. 4 gb. I have verified the following (stolen from other forums): bios. You can check with your bios manufacturer, about how to enable the maximum memory.

Check the advanced boot options.
1. Go to start, in the search bar type msconfig and press enter.
2.system configuration window will open on the screen.
3. Click on tab named "boot".
4. Click on "advanced options" and uncheck the box for "maximum memory".

I have verified the max memory is unchecked, and found it unchecked.

For the record, i have the following hardware:
Msi nf980-g65 mobo
4gb ocz ddr3 pc1600 (2x2g)
2 nvidia 7800 gt (256 mb) in sli

Win 7 X86 32-bit Only Recognises 3 Of 4 Gb Ram

Windows 7 x86 (32-bit) only recognizes 3 of my 4 gb ram. Should i upgrade to windows 7 x64 (64-bit)? I just upgraded to win 7 from vista (both x86) on my sony vaio vgn-280e which was shipped with vista home prem x86 and sony state that it is capable of 4gb ram. I have just upgraded from 3gb to the full 4. And of course only 3 usable according to system properties.

You all say that it's cos x86 oss aren't capable of 4gb ram but that's just not the case with everyone, i've read other forums where people have. And also where x64 users can't access all their 4gb, only 3 or 3. Xgb. I have run linux x86 on here, which uses the full 4, and have an os x leopard install which also detects and uses all 4gb. My bios detects all 4 too. Is there absolutely no way that i can get win 7 to use the full 4gb ddr2 (pc-2 5300 667) ram i have installed?

Further system spec:
Mobile intel 965 express chipset family
Core 2 duo 667mhz t5450 cpus
Intel gma x3100 video (total available graphics memory: 358mb - 64 system, 294 shared)

Also: if i upgrade to win 7 x64, and the full 4gb ram is utilized by the system, isn't the trade-off that an x64 os is more demanding on system resources including ram? Ie. Probably performance-wise i'm not any better off?

Extra question to you: how do i update bios? My bios is showing the full 4 actually, so is my os x install (and using it too). But win 7 x86 says 4 installed, using 3. How can i tell if that extra 1 is or isn't "wasted", ie is it going to graphics (c. 300mb in my case) etc?

Win 7 64-bit Crash - Ram Issues

I recently picked up a copy of windows 7 and thought i'd do a few hardware upgrades at the same time, notably picking up an extra 2x2gb of ram.

The (clean) windows installation continually crashed after the "completing installation" restart, so long as these new ram chips were in the machine; when they were removed, the install went flawlessly. Subsequently, when i put them back in after the install, the computer began to crash just after clearing the windows load screen (the same location as during the install).

I have since tested both these two ram chips and some extra 1gbs that i had laying around in various configurations and amounts to the point where i think i can say that all the ram sticks work fine, as do the slots on the motherboard. I even flashed the motherboard bios hoping that would solve my troubles, but no luck. The bios recognizes all installed ram, and only crashed *after* windows began to load. As near as i can tell, using completely different ram sticks than my new shineys, windows crashes only if my system exceeds 3gbs of ram. Under or at 3gb is fine, in any ram slot configuration, but as soon as i throw the extra gig in it starts to crash.

I've seen other cases on the 'net of similar ram issues caused by the motherboard, but microsoft's compatibility center seems to indicate i should be alright.

Any ideas?

Win 7 Home 64-bit Ram Issues

Firstly, pc spec etcmobo = gigabyte ga-n650sli-ds4 http://www.Gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?Pid=2514#ovram = corsair xms2 6400c5c 1. 8v ver 5. 1 (currently at 2*2gb sticks)graphics card = nvidia geforce 260 gtx "approx" total memory 2671 mb (as read from dxdiag)cpu = intel core 2 quad @ 2. 40hz(4 cpus)

The issue im having is im trying to upgrade to 8gb or ram on the above mentioned ram sticks but when ever i go above 2 sticks and enter the realms of >4gb ram windows gets as far as the "starting windows" screen and thats it, it wont even play the little animation. The usual hold-down-power for 4 secs to get a power down goes to a single push at this point (unsure if thats relevant).

I have 4 slots and i have tried all the sticks in all the slots (its been a long night). This is all on the back of a new install after something went horribly wrong in the msconfig interface and my machine was stuck in a loop asking if i wanted to repair windows or start normally both would just reboot the machine back to those options.

In the msconfig interface i have unticked the maxi mum memory (an it support told me to tick it and set it to 0 which is how i got the above issue)regarding bios. My bios can see i have 6gb running when i have the 3 sticks in, not even got to 4 sticks yet. But it just seems windows doesn't wanna play ball. Iv never ungraded my bios before as all the warnings signs tell me not to unless its really really needed. I really hope someone can help with this as iv ran out of things to try.

64-bit Win 7 Ram Compatibility - 2gb Only 1.87 Gb Usable

I'm now using windows 7 32-bit, but my programs require an upgrade to windows 64-bit version. I have used windows 7 upgrade advisor to check if my computer can install a 64-bit version. Then i received a report that said my ram is not compatible. I install 2gb of ram but only 1. 87 gb are usable, so the report said i wouldn't be able to install a 64-bit version of windows. It require a whole 2gb of ram. I now wonder to know that can i install that 64-bit version?

Win 7 64-bit Bsod

I recently got a brand new dell studio 14 with windows 7 installed and literally on the first or second startup, i received a bsod. I tried to find solutions and even called dell (but they ended up not being much of help), but still have been just dealing with it until now. Ultimate 64-bit Bsod

I have a self-built system. Evga mb with intel i7 (lastest bios updates installed). 12gb ram (mem tested ok), dual ati radeon (diamond) 4670 1gb video (crossfire currently disabled, latest drivers installed).

This is a recent install, upgraded from vista ultimate 64-bit. Sometimes it stays up for a while, other times only seconds after a restart. But i've been getting pretty constant bsod's for the last few weeks. I've been researching it trying to determine if all my drivers are up to date, and it appears that they are. I ran a memory test and that came out ok. This is becoming more and more frustrating.

Bsod Flash Drive Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit

I have just installed windows 7 ultimate on my desktop, upgrade from vista ultimate. When i insert one of my flash drives, i get a bsod. These flash drives work on my laptop(windows 7 64bit rtm 7100), a vista home premium desktop, and a win xp desktop. I have two other flash drives(pny 4gb, pny 512mb) that work. The two flash drives that don't work are(pny 8 gb, memorex 1 gb).

The problem started trying to transfer files from my laptop(win 7 64 bit) to my desktop(win 7 32 bit). These two drives worked the first time i plugged them in to my desktop. Is the 64 bit laptop causing the problems. I have re-formatted both flash drives in my vista computer.

Installing Flash On 32-bit Win 7

I just purchased a notebook with windows 7 home premium (32 bit) and am having trouble watching videos with adobe flash. I also tried going into "manage add-ons" in my ie8, but did not see adobe or flash listed anywhere, as well as enabling java script in the security options within outlook 2003. Any suggestions?
