Mouse Delay Between Typing And Using

I just got a new laptop with windows 7. I had xp before and this has never happened on any of my previous computers. When i enter text, it appears to suspend the mouse function from the touch pad for approximately 5 seconds. For example, if i were to go back to highlight or bold a section of this sentence, i have to wait for 5 seconds before the mouse will respond when i try to use the touchpad.

I find this very disruptive to my productivity, to start with. In addition, i find it also affects when i play a game as well, and this is just not acceptable! Is there a way to change this feature so that the touchpad and the keyboard are both active at the same time?

Mouse / Input Delay In Win 7

After extensive testing with benchmarking, and using the exact same hardware with the exact same drivers i have reached the following conclusion. Any input within the system in windows 7, takes 30-32 ms more to be processed. My system is an i7 975, with 12gb 1600 mhz ddr3 ram, a raid 0 configuration of 2 velociraptor 10, 000 rpms and an hd 5970 graphics card. Which is basically an apex of performance as of december 2009.

Why does windows 7 have this slightly noticeable lag? Would reinstalling help? Could it be due to any of the above hardwares?

Typing Slow In Ie

I'm a windows 7 (64) home premium user running ie 8. I've begun experiencing slow keyboard input within ie browser windows. (Other browsers, such as opera, firefox, and chrome, work fine. Also, the problem is only within ie. Even when the problem is occurring, i have no issues typing in other programs). It seems to develop over the course of a session-within a few minutes, i have to slow my input speed or characters are dropped. In time, if i don't pause with each key, i can't get complete words out.

The issue seems to have crept up. It was not an issue two weeks ago.

This is a relatively clean overall setup-i installed windows 7 with complete partition deletions about a month ago, and have been highly discerning in installing new applications.

Naturally, i worry about malware, but i've been diligently scanning with multiple programs (malwarebytes, windows defender, avast), and have yet to turn anything up. To be frank, i'm this machine's only user, and it's used with caution. I'm not plumbing the depths of the internet or downloading bootleg albums. It's used for work.

Any ideas? I could just switch completely to firefox or chrome, but i'm trying to troubleshoot.

System: acer extensa 4420 / amd turion 64 x2 tl-60 / 4gb ddr2

Keyboard Typing Issue

I have been having a very frustrating problems with my keyboard. First it starts to respond slowly to what i'm typing(sometimes it doesn't even responds) and then its starts typing by itself one letter repeatedly and it continue to press itself without even touching the computer. This will goes on increasing the intensity until i restart the computer. Other symptoms are ms word creates indents in the documents, tries to save the doc, changes zoom etc. (Its cray).

My browser open's up tabs just like that and out of nowhere. Its like something is typing in shortcuts in the keyboard. Sometimes if you open a window it will start to act as if you left the tab key pressed. My laptop is a hp pavilion dv4 with windows 7 home premium  and i bought it less than a month ago!. I tried restoring to the factory default and the same problem persists.

I tried connecting an external keyboard and it works perfect but if i press the integrated keyboard y goes nuts. I tried to make a clean startup using msconfig and nothing tried updating drivers and nothing! Can someone please help me figure this out?

Trouble With Typing On Certain Sites

I've had trouble typing on certain web sites. Sites such as yahoo email or on the embry-riddle aeronautical university bulletin board are the worst. Another site i have trouble with is edmunds.com, the pages never fully load unless i click refresh several times. When typing, not all the letters show, i have to go back and use the key repeatedly or i just use a word doc then copy/paste. Same thing with space/delete keys. I've tried uninstalling adobe and reinstalling, but still have same problem. The first time i tried reinstalling adobe, things improved, but now it's back to the same problems. Any ideas?

Unprompted Commands / Glitch When Typing

I purchased a new dell inspiron which came with microsoft 7 and ms word 2007. I just started using and noticed that my laptop is making unprompted commands. Examples: changing font to italicize while typing; opening a new doc or window as i'm typing. Hitting backspace button and a new window or some other command prompts. This happens very, very frequently as i'm typing and yes, i double checked my "fat fingering" and that is not the problem. I've ran a virus scan and no viruses were alerted.

Is this a dell problem or microsoft 7. This is getting out of control. Just while typing this message, i've received over 20+ unprompted commands.

Keyboard Shortcuts Start Opening When Typing

I just got a brand new laptop with windows 7. I've noticed that when i'm typing for any reason, keyboard shortcuts start opening things all over the place when i haven't hit any shortcuts that i know of. Just now, trying to type this (very slowly and carefully), i automatically moved to the url bar, opened a new tab twice, opened my favorites menu, and moved to the bing search bar twice-while all i've actually done is type out this message.

Trying to type just one line of information, i have opened/switched to as many as 12 different windows! Is there any way for me to stop this from happening? Or is something wrong with my computer? I have never had a computer randomly open things this often as if i'm hitting multiple keyboard shortcuts (now notice that i somehow enabled italics when i didn't mean to).

This is driving me crazy. I can't type slowly without opening/switching windows let alone type at my normal speed.

Logon Delay On Welcome Screen

When i logon to windows 7 (ultimate x64), the welcome screen stays on the screen for about 30 seconds before switching to the desktop. Other user accounts do not show this behavior. My profile is by far the biggest on the system (2. 7gb). I've read that there is a bug related to solid background colors, where the delay behavior is mentioned, but i'm using a desktop theme instead (also, reverting to the standard background did not solve ths issue). Does anybody have any other ideas? Can i use a tool like bootvis to analyze the logon process?

Shift Key Ignored After 1 Second Delay

I've on a windows 7 pc and would like my keyboard to do as it is asked. If i type 'hello world' quickly while holding the shift key down throughout, i get what i expect. If instead i pause for about a second before typing the world i get 'hello world'. This is not an effect i want. I often hold shift down for a while while highlighting text to cut or copy. If i hesitate, then the start point suddenly moves. Btw if i launch into virtual xp mode, the same effect is seen. Please help as this is very irritating and i've checked the 'ease of access' settings, which all appear to be off.

Line-in Sound Delay While Recording

Line-in sound delay in windows 7 - how can i bypass the aspect of windows 7 that converts analog -> digital -> audio signals? I have a hardware setup that i have run exactly as it is on xp and did not detect a delay, and many musician forums describe this issue with windows 7. More precisely - i plug my guitar into my sound card, onboard or my additional pci card, either has a delay between when i pluck the strings to when i hear the sound and it is impossible for me to record.

64-bit Boot Delay On Logo

I wish i could pin down exactly when this started, but it became much more noticeable after installing an ssd. When the windows logo first appears there are about 2 seconds of disc activity. After this, the computer sits there animating the logo for about 1 minute. After this idle time, the disc activity starts again and i am at the login screen in about ~10 seconds.

If boot logging is turned on windows stalls at the screen that notifies me that it is in boot logging mode. (After an initial scroll of drivers). I have installed the operating system multiple times. I don't believe that the rc1 release of windows had this issue, but i cannot remember.

Delay In Caps Lock Key

I've recently moved from a computer with vista to one with windows 7. There's a noticeable delay in the operation of the caps lock key, whether toggling on or off. For example, if i'm typing and the cursor is on the screen, and i inadvertently hit caps lock, the cursor goes away for a couple of seconds, i get a caps lock icon in the lower right of my screen, and i can't type nor toggle the caps lock key again until the cursor comes back. On the old vista computer, this was essentially intantaneous. Is this built into windows 7, and can i make a settings change or a tweak to change this?

Add Delay To Auto Hide Taskbar

Windows 7 taskbar on auto-hide, possible to add delay for hidden taskbar to reappear?Hello, i mainly work with my taskbar on top and with auto-hide on. The problem is if i am working with a maximized application and i try to close, minimize, or restore the window. My mouse cursor will sometimes miss and make the taskbar reappear from hiding. Is there any way to increase the timing in which the cursor can re-activate the hidden taskbar?I know it can be done with thumbnail previews of pinned items.

I'm hoping the same could be done to the taskbar either by software application or registry tweak to which i have not found a solution for yet to my specific problem. I am also aware that windows down and windows up will maximize and minimize the current active window, but i find it less of a pain to keep my right hand on the mouse at all times.

Speech Recognition Slow / Delay Problem

My question pertains to windows speech recognition (wsp). I am using a fresh install of win 7 pro on a brand new dell inspiron with a core i3 processor and 4gb ram, so i assume system specs are not the culprit here. When i say "correct x" (where x is some word or group of words), there is an unacceptable delay before the correction dialog box (bizarrely titled the "alternates panel") comes up. I mean 30+ seconds here sometimes, even when there are only a couple of alternates offered. There is a comparable delay when i choose one and say ok.

To clarify, when i give correction commans, the dialog on the small wsp window shows that it is receiving my commands immediately, it just hangs for a long time before acting on them. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? I need to use speech recog due to rsi in arms, and i've previously been using dragon a lot. I thought i'd try wsp, and i've actually mostly found it superior in so far as training time, accuracy, and overall integration with windows (though not in ultimate tweakibility). However, this one problem is major enough that i'm leaning towards moving back to dragon.

Logitech G11 Keyboard Key Repeat Delay

I have been a user of the logitech g11 for about three months or so now, and i love it. Frankly, it's an awesome keyboard. Unfortunately, i have an issue with it. The '/@ key doesn't work properly - that is, it doesn't type anything until after the repeat delay has passed, at which point it repeats as normal. Basically, the first instance of the symbol i am typing never appears. I initially thought this was an issue with the keyboard itself - a hardware issue - but recently i used the keyboard on another user, and it worked as normal, leading me to conclude that it is a software issue - but whether it is caused by the os or its drivers i don't know. Operating system: windows 7 ultimate 32-bit

Mouse Scrolling Stuck With Wireless Mouse

I have a labtec wireless optical mouse for notebooks. It causes scrolling to involuntarily occur with sliders and drop-down boxes as long as the mouse is hovering over the item.
For example:

1) when i signed up to these forums and had to choose a country the mouse scrolled through the list right to the bottom without my intervention (other than selecting the drop-down box). Almost all drop down boxes tend to be effected regardless of what program it is in.

2) if i try to adjust the volume in the system tray the mouse raises the sound even while i am trying to lower it.

3) in certain programs the mouse will scroll through the page automatically. It does not do this with all programs. Chrome, ie, firefox, acrobat, notepad and many others are not affected.

4) i did not have these issues with xp at all, but i did when i used ubuntu (mouse would cycle through tabs and always cycle to the first box on the ubuntu taskbar. I had to alt-tab to change windows. )

5) when i first installed chrome the mouse would automatically scroll through the tabs to the first one even if all i did was hover over the tabs. I could could only properly select another tab if i clicked it and then moved the mouse from the tabs quickly. I did this which fixed the issue: "the document suggests changing some registry values to disable this high resolution behavior.

Problem: Delay On Boot Due To Drivers Files: Ndproxy.sys, Srv.sys, And Vga.sys

Recently installed a fresh copy of windows 7 x86 and x64 in separate instances to see if the problem of a two minute period between the "windows is starting" screen and the desktop. Neither had a visible impact. I looked around online and found how to create a boot log. The following are the drivers/services that could not be installed during my startup:

4 instances of ndproxy. Svs
1 instance of vga.sys (hadn't installed video card driver yet)
1 instance of srv.sys

After installing the necessary drivers and with no alert from the device manager, the boot time is still roughly 2 minutes. Right now i am at a loss on what to do. For reference my avg startup time in xp was around 10 seconds from the windows logo. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Mouse Is Jumpy

I am using windows 7 premium with ms office home. Recently, i notice my mouse is jumpy (doesn't keep up) and the notification sounds warble (not smooth and clear sound, but broken up). A friend has suggested that there may be a compatibility problem with programs i have loaded. If that is the case i can not identify what programs are having incompatibility problems - assuming this is the problem in the first place?

Wireless Mouse

I am having trouble with my recently purchased 'targus' wireless mouse. It was fine till now, but all of a sudden i heard a beep from my laptop (similar one which comes when you plug/unplug something to a usb drive) and it just doesn't work anymore! No lights on the usb receiver which comes along with the mouse anymore!I remember the following things:1. I had installed updates from windows yesterday (but after that as well for couple of hours today it was fine)2. I got an alert for battery level and soon after i plugged in the power source i got the beep and mouse went dead in some moments. These may be irrelevant, but could anyone please help?

Erratic Mouse

Win 7 ultimate x64, microsoft natural wireless mouse and keyboard combo. I have great difficulty using the mouse. Had the same problem with a great logitech mouse which i thought was failing and discarded. To bad, it felt better then this one. Latest driver is installed. Problem slowly started manifesting in last month or so. No solutions in forums, other than to go with a ps2 mouse: which i would if i hadn't just spent $120 on this, anf if they still made a ps2 mouse that fit my hand!Do i have to re-install win 7 just like all the other windows releases over many years?

Mouse Scrolling

I recently installed a wireless keyboard and mouse. ( Microsoft natural wireless ergonomic keyboard 7000  and mouse, microsoft natural wireless laser mouse 7000) so, i installed the disk and the mouse has functions to zoom in go back to pages and vertical scrolling. So, it works good.

Then when i want to use my old mouse ( only can click, scroll and right click ) to play computer games as the wireless mouse does not fits me (counter strike cz), i couldn't scroll down to select weapons even when i use internet and trying to scroll down, it doesn't work.

But the wireless mouse is useful for surfing the internet so i do not wish to delete the program that allows the mouse to function. But drags me down during gaming.

Mouse Issues

This is a weird issue i am having. When i went to install, once i got to the install screen, the bar at the top that is highlighted flashes like its going into background and coming back out. Then it basically becomes unresponsive. I figured out it was the mouse. I used another mouse i had, and had the same issue. I disabled legacy support in the bios and got it to respond once but only by plugging it into the usb ports on the front of the computer, then it did the same thing once i got to the next window. I thought maybe it was a driver problem, so i just installed windows  using the keyboard.

Everything loaded fine. Once i loaded up the chipset, i installed the drivers for the mouse (all using the keyboard). Plugged in the mouse, and these are the issues:can move the mouse but clicking on any program icon is non responsive right click works on desktop keyboard or mouse will not work with any functions including the start button. Once i open the recycle bin, the window goes gray and becomes unresponsive. Ran memory test everything was fine this issue is weird.

Smooth Mouse

On this one video on youtube this one guy made his mouse totally smooth on windows xp by right clicking on my computer, going to mice and other pointing devices, clicking on the mouse he was using, going to advanced, and then setting the sample rate to 200. Well when i try this on vista it doesn't show advanced settings under the mouse i'm using (im using a logitech g5 laser mouse). So if anybody knows how to do this on vista please tell me how.

Mouse Clicks On Its Own

This is the third laptop i have purchased in the last month. I originally thought it was a problem with the computer. But after now just opening my third brand new computer today, it appears it is just a glitch with windows 7 since it has occured on all computers. When hovering over a link (online or off) with my cursor/mouse, the computer will click on its own sometimes; thus taking me to another page that i didn't necessarily want to go to. Not always, but just enough to be annoying. Can anyone help?

Mouse Stuttering

I'm experiencing horrible mouse stuttering whenever my old raid-0 is in heavy use. Same happens with keyboard - typing in stuff works but the characters appear at random intervals and in bursts. Disabling/enabling aero etc makes really no difference. Other hdds work fine without the stutter (including my external usb hdd). I'm not using a wireless mouse, my os is located on a new ssd drive. Effects occur also when the system isn't overclocked. Any help is much appreciated, this is really driving me insane.

Mouse Acceleration

I don't know what is different but the way my mouse performs windows 7 bothers me and i'm thinking it is due to the mouse acceleration curves, thresholds, sensitivity, etc. A similar question regarding disabling mouse acceleration was asked a few weeks ago (link to post ) and the answer or "fix" was to adjust the mouse key settings under the control panel>>ease of access (accessibility options in xp)

My question is what do the mouse key settings (a feature to control the mouse cursor with directional keys on your keyboard) have to do with the way the actual mouse performs? I thought the mouse performance was controlled solely by the registry settings mousesensitivity , mousespeed , mousethreshold1 , mousethreshold2 , smoothmousexcurve , and smoothmouseycurve.could someone clear up my confusion?

Mouse Very Jerky

Windows 7 64bit, all windows updates applied as well as proper hardware drivers. Hardware is an amd phenom ii x4 955 cpu - quad core at 3. 2ghz.amd890gx chipset, 4gig of ddr3 memory. Ati radeon 4800 pcie video card. Mouse is a wireless laser mouse 6000. Fresh batteries. Unobstructed receiver. When running any kind of program installer, the mouse is very "jerky" on the screen. Checking the task manager, i see that one core is running very high - 95%, but the other three cores are near idle. Memory usage never changes - 1. 9gig used. Looking at the processes tab, the highest cpu usage i see is 2% for task manager itself. With three idle cores, why would the mouse be jerky?
