Ipv6 Does Not Work After Waking Up From Sleep Mode

I had a problem about ipv6 on windows 7 for a long time. I have a ipv6 & ipv4 dual stack network. Every time i wake up my computer, the ipv6 cannot work. The appearance is that i can't ping and access ipv6 website. But after some research, i realize that only the dns part is broken. When i ping the ipv6 site like ipv6.google.com, it tells me it find no host, but if i use nslookup, i can find the ipv6 address. And the following are my tries:

Ping ipv6.google.com - not work
Ping 2a00:1450:8001::68 - does work, the ip is the ipv6.google.com address
Ping -6 ipv6.google.com - does work like the above

Touchpad Keys Do Not Work When Pc Waking Up From Sleeping Mode

The keys (including touchpad) of the hp notebook with windows 7 do not work when pc waking up from the "sleeping mode". If you plug in the external mouse in the usb port, cursor moves.

1 - keys of the pc ( including the touchpad) stop responding when notebook wakes up from any mode. If you just connect external mouse, the cursor start moving again over the screen. The problem disappears after the pc is switched off and then switched on i.e. After reloading the windows 7 operating system.

2 - this problem exists from the day one when the operating system was installed.

3 - internal win7 diagnostic system doesn't show, as far as i understand, any missing driver.

Please explain the reason and the detailed algorithm to fix this problem.

Windows 7 Freeze In Normal Mode, Safe Mode Works Fine

I am out of ideas. Three days ago my computer started freezing within a few minutes after startup. Freezes with no mouse movement and no keyboard. Must shutdown using the power button. Happens every time i start in normal mode. Safe mode works fine. I have done quite a bit of reading and tried a number of things, so far to no avail. Quite a few error codes present, here are some:

Winlog 6000
Service 7001
Distrib 10005
Service 7026
Event log 1101
Kernel 41
Browser 8032
Load perf 3011
Load perf 3012

I have tried restoring, turning off all non-microsoft services, disabling sound, updating video driver, memory test, adjusting bios per g skill tech forum. All hardware showing normal operation in device manager.

I can't find the minidump .dmp folder in c:/windows. The only location i find for .dmp files is in the watchdog folder, and there are quite a few in there. Let me know if i need to upload them.

My computer is a couple of months old and has been working flawlessly until this happened with one exception. (I have been getting occasional monitor blanking for a couple of seconds followed by a notification that the graphics driver has stopped responding and was successfully restored. )

Xp Mode

Why can't microsoft assist with a windows 7 issue that has not been resolved in the three weeks since i installed the os? Microsoft support has not yet found a resolution to my efforts of getting xp mode to work on my computer.

1. I have installed windows 7 professional in 64 bit on a new 1tb hard drive.

2. Virtualization is turned on inbios.

3. I am running a 3. 22 intel cpu. My ram is 4gb.

4. I have downloaded, installed and uninstalled xp modeand windows virtual pc at least a dozen times over the past three weeks.

5. I am the administrator and only user of this machine.

Yet every time i attempt to install xp mode, i always get a pop-up window that says: "the virtual machine configuration could not be created. User does not have sufficient access right. " The windows 7 forums have not helped. Does anyone at microsoft have any ideas how to fix this program?

Everything else (except a few dated drivers) on windows 7 appears to be working perfectly.

Cannot Get Second Monitor To Work

I am connecting a second monitor to my sony vaio-vgn-sz650n-by vga. Before upgrading from vista to 7, it was working just fine. After upgrading, i plug it in, screen blinks, but no display on second monitor. It is a dell g2210 by the way. I tried restarting my computer with monitor connected, without it connected, and went into the display settings where you can change resolution, etc. On the different monitors, and nothing there. Tried to "detect" monitor, still nothing. Tried updating the driver, nothing(maybe wrong driver?). I would love to get this problem solved as school is starting and i need to use my computer a lot, and really like having dual monitors.

Cant Get Microphone To Work

As the title says, my computer does not recognize when i plug a microphone in. I am using a pair of headphones with a microphone attached to it. I have tried 2 different sets so i know the actual mic works.

Under control panel -> hardware and sound -> manage audio devices, recording tab, it says "no audio devices are installed" i have tried using 2 different ports and it still doesn't work.

I am running windows 7 home ultimate. Can anyone shed some light on what i can do?

Edit: i recently installed to windows 7 from vista, could it be that some sort of audio driver didnt get installed or xfered over correctly? How would i figure this out?

I have tried to set up a homegroup but it fails to work. Both computers are running windows 7. I have a wireless router which works for both computers as the internet is available on each. I set the homegroup on my computer and then go upstairs to my other computer and select join the homegroup. It asks for the password and i type it in and it works for a minute or two the returns with a message stating a homegroup cannot be setup on this computer. Why is it never as simple as the videos show?

Autorun Does Not Work

I have windows 7 as does my daughter - i have several cd-rom games that worked on xp, the autorun facility works on my daughters laptop and installs the games, however it does not work on mine!  I have tried all the help solutions and compared settings on my computer against my daughters and everything is the same and all settings seem correct. The only thing i cannot find on mine (or my daughters) is the nodrivetypeautorun command which would enable me to change the data to 91.

Cannot Get Fallout 3 To Work

Can't get fallout 3 to work with win7, it worked fine with vista 32-bit, morrowind and oblivion work just fine on my win7 computer (same game engine, different versions). I've contacted bethesda and they responded with a completely generic copy/paste response, i'll throw the body of the email in here to get anyone who can help up to speed. Please note that the program is not tested or supported in windows 7. You may be able to run the program using compatibility mode in windows 7, but we cannot guarantee the program will function properly in this new operating system.

Program compatibility is a mode in windows that lets you run programs written for earlier versions of windows. Most programs written for windows xp also work in this version of windows, but some older programs might run poorly or not run at all. If an older program doesn't run correctly, start the program compatibility wizard to simulate earlier versions of windows.

To change compatibility settings for a program:

Note: do not use the program compatibility wizard on older antivirus programs, disk utilities, or other system programs, because it might cause data loss or create a security risk.

Note: if the compatibility options are grayed out, then it is a 64 bit program and cannot be changed. 1. Right-click the icon for the program.

2. Click properties.
3. Click the compatibility tab.
4. Check the box "run this program in compatibility mode".

5. Choose the version of windows the program was made for. For best compatibility, choose the latest windows version the program was written for. Check the system requirements for the program if you are not sure.

6. It may also be necessary to check the box for "run this program as an administrator. "

7. Click apply and ok

Fallout 3 crashes to the desktop on game-startup, i have reinstalled and have tried to load the game with no patches, no mods, no utilities of any sort, and it still crashes. I don't know what to do, and it seems questions related to this issue are going unresolved on the bethesda forums.

Here's my system information:
Os: windows 7 64-bit
Motherboard: asus p5n-t deluxe (nvidia nforce 780i chipset)
Cpu: intel core 2 duo e8400 (3ghz)
Ram: 6 gb corsair ddr2 memory
Vga: nvidia (bfg) gtx 285 1024mb (driver version 196. 21)
Sound card: integrated

(Just an fyi, i have the steam version, but i doubt that should matter. ) I used to play the game on windows vista (32-bit), and it worked just fine, the computer is exactly the same as it was before i switched to windows 7.

See the attached dxdiag for details, i doubt you'll find anything though. Ill throw the dxdiag on my skydrive for those that want to see it (http://cid-51b65177f7aebc51. Skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/. Public?Uc=1 ) if the link doesn't work i will paste the text here. Sorry about the formatting i don't know how to fix it.

Cannot Get Backup To Work

Just set up a new windows 7 64 bit system. When i try to run "set up backup" i get a window that says "starting windows backup - please wait while windows backup starts, " but nothing ever happens. Just hangs on that. If i x out, it changes to "canceling" and hangs on that. When i ultimately go to task manager to end it, it says not responding.

I just want to set up an automatic backup to an external drive nightly, but i can't seem to get to step one. Anyone else having this issue?

I do have another backup program installed - iomega automatic backup pro. I had that on my old xp system, and it transferred when i transferred to the new windows 7 system. The problem is that it doesn't work with windows 7 (which is why i am trying to use windows backup. ) I tried to uninstall it, but a window opens that says "preparing to uninstall, " and it just hangs at that - also not responding. I guess since the program doesn't work with windows 7, neither does the uninstall -
Or maybe it can't find the uninstall log. Is there a way to locate the actual executable that will uninstall iomega automatic backup pro? Or some other way to uninstall it?

Btw, i tried clean boot and had the same problem even with all startup items and services disabled (other than microsoft services and anti virus - i could not disable antivirus). Also tried the system check and found no problems.

More info: i booted in diagnostic mode and tried to uninstall. After activating windows installer, i tried to uninstall automatic backup pro. Instead of hanging, i got "the install script engine on this machine is older than the version required to run this setup. If available, please install the latest version of isscript. Msi. " So i think the isscript. Msi file is probably newer than that required, not older, but either way the installer doesn't recognize it. Is there a way to uninstall with xp scripts?

Classic Mode

How do i run win7 in the far far superior classic mode. I despise the fluffy and glitzy 'look pretty' interface of vista and vista-ii (aka win7). W7 has a small handful of new features that are very nice, but the vast majority are just things that are for looks. All of these are things that i'd just as soon not have to look at. Alt-tab works just fine for me. I don't want pop ups all over the place when i hover over the task bar. I don't need any transparent thumbnail previews.

I really just want my os to be clean and simple to use like in classic mode. Just tell me how to set w7 back to the clean and simple classic mode that made my computer so easy to use please. Otherwise i see no real reason to justify spending $200 on yet another 'you gotta have this' piece of software that really only offers a small handful of features that i will use.

Virtual Xp Mode

I'm testing running the virtual xp mode machine off it's own nic instead of natting. First i installed via nat and all works well but when downloading on either machine, one slows. So i decided to install a separate nic, told the virtual machine that was it's connection, and now it's running off of it's own ip, etc. The problem now is that it seems to have slowed the opening of programs on the virtual machine. Are there other settings i'm not configuring to make the virtual machine respond like it's suppose to?

Xp Mode Problem

I bought windows 7 professional, because my kids have games that need xp to run. I dl'ed and installed xp mode and virtual pc, installed zoo tycoon 2 for my son and i'm getting a no video memory error message. If i'm getting this error message when trying to run zoo tycoon 2, how in the world am i going to be able to run autocad 2005? Did microsoft sell us a bunch of lies? After reading some interesting articles about xp mode i'm now discovering that my anti-virus doesn't even provide me any protection while in xp mode.

Can anyone out there provide me some real answers as to why i need xp mode and how i can get it to work?

God Mode

I got an information from one web site about windows 7 god mode.

Although its name suggests perhaps even grander capabilities, windows enthusiasts are excited over the discovery of a hidden "godmode" feature that lets users access all of the operating system's control panels from within a single folder. By creating a new folder in windows 7 and renaming it with a certain text string at the end, users are able to have a single place to do everything from changing the look of the mouse pointer to making a new hard-drive partition.

The trick is also said to work in windows vista, although some are warning that although it works fine in 32-bit versions of vista, it can cause 64-bit versions of that operating system to crash.
To enter "godmode, " one need only create a new folder and then rename the folder to the following:
Godmode. {Ed7ba470-8e54-465e-825c-99712043e01c}

Once that is done, the folder's icon will change to resemble a control panel and will contain dozens of control options. I'm not sure it's my idea of playing god, but it is a handy way to get to all kinds of controls. Can anyone please give some more details about this. Because i couldn't see microsoft say this as a feature. So is it safe to do?

Printing From Xp Mode

I have read many postings across the internet and the various microsoft offerings and none have solved the issue at hand.microsoft state that when an xp application is invoked seamlessly or xp mode is invoked i should be able to share the native printers that have been set up in windows 7.
This is not so.

It is not possible to "see" the native printers from with xp mode, nor is it possible for the invoked applications to print, nor is it possible to add a printer to the xp mode. I am running on a toshiba t130 which is equipped with a non hardware assisted virtualization processor. I have pressed ahead with the installation of windows 7 and the xp mode etc on advise from toshiba and microsoft. This now represents a significant investment of time and money bot of which are in short supply. Please do not now tell me that hav is essential - contrary to current documentation etc.

Questions :-
1. I have no tools tab on my installation of the xp mode within the virtual machine. Is this because there is no hav present on this machine? Obviously all the tutorials etc refer to this.
2. If this is the case please can someone direct me to correct document for the windows 7 virtual pc and xp mode where hav is not available. - I do not actually believe that any such documentation exists.

3. Please can some one explain how to add a printer to xp mode. I have been through a zillion forums where every one states this is as easy as falling off a log - but to my extreme frustration no one actually explains how this is done. Indeed at this time i do not believe that it can be achieved.

4. In the absence of any ability to print directly from applications invoked from the xp mode what alternative process is available.

Xp Mode Not Usable

I want to load and run old software which will run on my xp machine. I loaded w7-pro, then xp mode, and then w-virtual pc. Then i was informed via warning box that i needed, and don't have, a hardware visualization function on my cpu. No, not just bios, the hardware!  I just bought my computer saturday, a new asuz laptop with w7 installed right on it. Why do i now need to have hardware on my brand new computer, which i didn't know about before, just to run xp mode?  Is ms working on a solution that doesn't require additional hardware?

Xp Mode Too Slow

Recently i bought a new hp computer with dualcore processor and 5 gb of ram, 64 bit system, which came with windows 7 home edition, and i intend of using it with my mastercam x3 64-bit. My software is not compatible to windows 7, so i bought the upgrade to windows 7 pro to be able to use the virtual xp mode. The installation went smooth, but in virtual xp mode the mastercam runs unacceptable slow. I dedicated 3gb ram to the virtual xp with no success.

Mastercam dealer told me that is the computer not running fast enough because the program run much faster on a old regular xp machine. In fact the task manager in xp mode, shows me only one core processor (although the computer has dual core, which is visible in w7 task manager) which is used 100% anytime i do any small task in mastercam.

Has the virtual xp mode just an emergency use under w7 and is it known to be slower? Will i get better result from xp if i downgrade from windows 7 to xp pro?

Downloading Xp Mode

I am trying to download windows xp mode for windows 7 professional for a brand new laptop of my boss from my windows vista business machine. But it is unable to do so, as microsoft requires authentication. I am an it guy and i have registered his windows 7 on my email id. If microsoft needs, i can provide it. I cannot download windows xp mode in my office as it is 500 mb is size. Moreover, my boss is not having enough time to spare his laptop for downloading this software and thereby reducing the speed of internet at his own end for other activities like downloading emails on ms outlook, using video chats etc. Can anyone suggest what can be done?

Where Is Xp Mode Installed?

Windows 7 ultimate x64. I ran the installation for xp mode. At the end of the installation there was a check-box to run xp mode on exiting the installer. I unchecked as i had some other things to do. I am now trying to find how to start xp mode. There isn't anything on the start menu for xp mode so how do i start it the first time?

On a side note - why is the installation package so dumb about where to uncompress its files to?  The installation package was on an internal sata drive with almost 300 gb free in the partition. The c: drive is on a sata drive with 183 gb free in the partition. So where does the install uncompress to - to my x: drive which is an external usb drive. Needless to say the file copying was a bit long.

Protected Mode Off, But It Is On

I have a generic desktop i built myself. I have just gone from xp to windows 7. Ie 8 says down the bottom "protection mode: off" but it is on? This was a fresh custom install. Just to give you som idea of protection, i run norton's av 2010 ( just av not suite or 360) with zone alarm pro firewall and forcefield. My toshiba satellite pro l300 was an upgrade from vista, same protection programs, the only difference the laptop says "protection mode:on" in am cert.

3 microsoft vista configuration course accredited and even this has got me stumped. I have tried repair etc. I had ie8 when using xpand vista and it always and so does this come up when open, bottom left "with errors on page". Same protection on both pc and laptop prior to migration.

How Do I Install Xp Mode On 7?

I need to test a camera that only has xp drivers, but i have a 7 pro computer. So i decided to install the xp mode, but i am running into a problem.

I went to the microsoft website where the downloads are located (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx?Rungenuinecheck=true&system=4&lang=1&buttonclicked=winxpmode). It nicely lists the steps that are necessary. The first step (marked with download/install this first) makes me download a file called windowsactivationupdate.exe, and instructs me to install it and then click the "continue" button.

The program i downloaded is 156 kb, not the 500 mb that is mentioned on the website, and i suppose it is just a program to check the validity of my 7 installation. However, when i install it, nothing happens. I am left on the website with 2 options: download and cancel. Pressing download only downloads the .exe again (and starting it only tells me that it is already installed, pressing "cancel" gets me back to the original web page. I can click the "first step" again, and the while circle starts over.

Either i am doing something wrong (what?) Or the windowsactivationupdate.exe is supposed to do something that it is not. I don't see a new program icon or folder either after installing it, so i can't start anything manually.

How do i install the xp mode?

Hp Officejet J4550 Does Not Work

(1) after installing windows 7, my printer will not work. I get error code 43. I have installed, un-installed and reinstalled the software several times. Nothing has worked. However, the scanner worked from windows 7, although only using the windows software, not the scanner software.

I then hooked the j4550 up to an old desktop, which runs windows 2000. The printer works on windows 2000. However, the scanner does not work. The icon for the scanner does not appear.

My Documents Shortcut Does Not Work

I am in a school environment where we do not allow students to access the c drive. We also redirect students my documentsť folder to a network file storage server. We are in the process of converting to windows 7 and found that when a student tries to access their my documentsť from their desktop they get an access denied message.

We would like to keep students from accessing the c drive but allow them the use of the desktop short cut for their my documentsť. We are pretty sure this is due to the fact that the my documentsť folder is now a subfolder on the desktop. Is there a simple fix to allow students access only to their my documentsť folder?
