Blue Screen When Transfer Large Amount Of Data Over Usb

Blue screen -apc_index_mismatch - trying to transfer large amount of data over usb. I am currently using windows 7 - 64 bit and whenever i try to transfer large amounts of data from my iphone or my external hard drive the system shuts down and i get the blue screen that says: apc_index_mismatch.

I just bought this computer around september 09 and it had windows vista - 64bit loaded on it. A couple of months after that i received the free upgrade to windows 7.

That is when the blue screen started to happen. At first it was happening when i was my iphone was trying to sync and transfer my music over, which made me think that the iphone was not working with windows 7. But i realized that it was the usb when i was trying to transfer some data from my external hard drive to my computer and the system crashed.

Does anyone know what is going on here?

Some more info from the blue screen:

Usb Data Transfer Timeout With Large Files

I am experiencing a ton of problems with usb data transfer. I'm unable to transfer any large files or multiple files at once. The flash drive or external hard drive will time out and eventually the pc will "lose" it and won't be able to locate the files i was trying to transfer. In addition, i'm not able to sync up my new ipad and i'm assuming it's caused by the same issue. The odd thing is, i'm able to use my printer via usb without any problems.

I found some info on this problem (at least i'm assuming this is the same thing)

Here: http://social. Technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7itprohardware/thread/3aae3b66-6a1a-47e8-ad1b-b20b68eaecf8#79ea3219-d76e-40bc-b910-c7d347002e66

And here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972. When i first found out about the windows hot fix, i downloaded it and tried to install, but it said i've already installed it. Clearly it didn't work for me because i'm still having this problem. I actually started experiencing this problem with windows vista x64 and have since upgraded to windows 7.

Usb Data Transfer Slow

(win7 pro 64 on amd phenom ii x4, 3. 20 ghz with 4. 0 gb ram)i have tried changing the device settings on both sticks (different manufacturers, both 4gb) to optimize for performance and have rebooted each time. I've tried the transfer from a traditional 7200 rpm drive as well as from a 32gb ssd. Always the same. I have read all the forum post about people who are unhappy with 1. 5 mb/sec transfer rates. At this point, i'd kill for those transfer rates. The files i'm moving are a mix of large and small files and i understand that small files will transfer slower. But surely something is amiss if i can't even surpass 500kb/sec.

Kernel Data Error - Blue Screen Of Death

If i leave my computer for any length of time a blue screen appears and one of the lines reads: kernal data error the final line says beginning dump of physical memory but doesn't do it. Shortly afterwards the black screen appears stating boot failure and i have to switch off manually. When i turn on again reboots ok and everything seems fine unless i leave it unmanned or attempt a full scan. Have searched around and it appears it could relate to a recent windows upgrade. I am a complete novice here and don't understand some of the tech stuff to solve this problem and can't really find exactly the same prob as mine. Please can anyone help?

Blue Screen When Using Usb Devices

I use an i2c to usb converter (aardvark) from total phase that i suspect is the device causing bsod on my system. I have been in contact with their support and they can not reproduce it. It also works on my colleges system (also win7/enterprise/x64) which makes me suspect that there's something else causing the problem on my machine. Attaching/detaching the aardvark device when no other usb devices are present seems to work, but attaching it with other usb devices attached leads to a bsod. At least this is what i suspect right now, it might also be random or i haven't seen the pattern yet.

I've looked at the memory dumps but most often they do not point at a specific driver, but system files instead, e.g. Ntkrnlmp.exe.

Can anyone help me pinpoint the problem from my log files (minidump, nfo, etc):

Usb / Rs232 Bridge Gives Blue Screen

Usb/rs232 bridge gives bsod. I have a rs232/usb bridge with prolific drivers that worked fine in xp sp3. It now gives me the blue screen of death after about 3-5 minutes when run as admin. If i run in regular user mode then it locks my software up after nor more than 5 minutes. I then purchased a new bridge that uses ftdi drivers but it still locks up.

No more bsod either as admin or user but locks the program up. This is the text from windows. Problem signature: problem event name: bluescreen os version: 6. 1. 7600. 2. 0. 0. 768. 3 locale id: 1033 additional information about the problem: bccode: d1 bcp1: 0000000000000038 bcp2: 0000000000000002

Screen Resolution Is Very Large

After installing windows 7, everything on my screen is very large. If i go to screen resolution, the display will only reads "1. Dell e228wfp on standard vga graphics adapter", the resolution reads "640 x 480" and is grayed out so i can not make any other choice.

When i try "make text and other items larger or smaller", i get a screen that selects smaller-100% (as default). Medium is grayed out and there is no larger. At the bottom of my screen it reads "you can't change this setting because the height of your display is less than 600 pixels. " What am i doing wrong? Everything is so big i have to scroll up and down, right and left to read anything.

Cannot Copy Large File Between Usb Drives

Using windows 7. Have two 1tb ntfs drives and i'm trying to copy a 600g music folder from drive g to drive e. Original file from a third drive was put trough a tag editor and saved to drive g successfully. Have tried copy/paste, drag and drop and send to options. The drag and select show 13k items selected but when released over the intended folder, the copy files window pops up then disappears. Trying break into smaller transfers, was able to transfer half the "a"'s (716 folders) then was only able to transfer single folders.

There are some files where the location was lost in the renaming process or folders that got duplicated which show up as conflicts or options to skip copy or merge two folders in the file copy process at the end of the transfer. I am able to transfer files between the drives, just not this large folder. Western digital support says it's an operating system issue. I acquired the original files from four separate drives  by drag and drop recently with no issues. In compiling all the folders, maybe some errors have crept in, but i can't figure out how to find and eliminate them.

Cannot Copy / Paste Large Files From Usb

I tried drag and drop. I tried ctrl+c & ctrl+v. Neither work when trying to move a large folder (7-8gb) from my usb to my hard drive. I feel like i am the only one having this bug. It works with smaller files from my usb to my hard drive - even up to a couple gigs only took a couple minutes.
Update:  xp says "cannot copy file. Cannot read from the source file or disk. " So this is an issue with the usb.

Losing Usb Drives / Devices When Working With Large Files

I keep losing my usb drives/devices when working with large/many files. Have to reboot to get drives back. Anytime i try to move a large number of files, or work with a large file (such as transferring to memory stick) my usb drives stop working. They still show up in explorer, but all file contents are gone. I have tried to use different ports, as far as i can tell all drivers are up to date. I have a dual boot to windows xp and in xp there is no problem with this. In xp i can move large and large numbers of files usb to usb with no problems whatsoever, but in win7 it just won't work.

Anyone else having this problem or heard of a fix for this problem? It does tend to get a little frustrating. Devices affected: wd mybook & essential usb hd's, usb memory stick, usb headset/mic, usb card reader, usb camera. Use of any of these with files larger than a few hundred mb results in freeze/lose device.

Transferring Data From Other Pc Download Via Usb Stick

New pc with win7 ultimate. Purchased outlook 2007 from microsoft and delivered via e:mail link on my other office pc that has outlook 2002 running my e: mail, downloaded direct to a new 4 gig usb stick and copied to the new win7 pc via this stick, when trying to extract the program, the process starts but very quickly windows 7 reports an error basically saying not enough memory to complete the task.

This is the first s/w package put on this pc, it remains basically the way it was delivered. Has 1t/byte raid 1 drives with 12 g/byte memory. Cant seem to be able to contact microsoft or the s/w provider (digital river) to see if the s/w packaged is faulty or corrupted.

Data Copying Fails, Usb Disks Keep Getting Restarted

We bought a new hp probook 4520s with windows 7 professional. From the very beginning we have been experiencing problems with usb devices. Our usb flash disks and an external westerndigital usb device (harddisk) often get restarted in windows 7, and errors reported on them, although all of them work properly on any windows xp system (computer) we try.copying to and from those disks often is interrupted and fails. An usb modem has not always functioned, either.

We reinstalled windows 7 - it did not help. The seller checked the hardware and found no problems. They say their usb devices work fine with this computer. In fact, sometimes it seems that our usb devices also work fine with it - however, this does not last long. Usb disks usually get restarted when data copying is just underway. Viruses, malware, etc, have been checked - nothing found. Autorun files turned into txt files - it has not helped, either.

Win 7 Halts When Transferring Data From Usb Device To Computer

This issue has to do with erratic performance in windows 7 when transferring data from as usb device to the computer. It does not present itself when transferring data to as usb device from the computer. When transferring data from as usb device to the computer (ie downloading pictures to the computer from a memory card), windows 7 will not allow programs to be launched and it eventually grinds to a halt on any existing programs. Performance returns if the data transfer is canceled or allowed to complete.

The data transfer will almost always complete if not canceled. This is a problem when there is a large amount of data to transfer as the computer is not usable until the data transfer is complete. Not something i expect from a brand new computer.

I have tried several different usb devices with the same result so i know it is not the device itself. Hp tech support had me run a diagnostic on my motherboard and everything checked out ok.
The computer is a hp e9300z with amd athlon ii x4 630 processor and 6 gb memory. It has a foxconn motherboard with american megatrends bios.microsoft reports a known issue similar to this in article kb976972. I tried this but it did not fix the problem.

Blue Screen - Driver_power_state_failure

I have owned windows 7 for about 5 months now. I upgraded to windows 7 professional from windows xp home edition. I also upgraded to 4gb of ram. Since then, i have, at random times, received the blue screen of death and then my computer quickly shuts down and reboots. I haven't bothered with getting it fixed because it wasn't too much of a problem for me, but now it seems to be recurring a lot more often. I have already had it happen twice today.

However, sometimes it is not always a blue screen, it may just turn black, shut off, and reboot. When it is a blue screen i notice it says driver_power_state_failurealso note that whenever this problem happens, i am always on internet explorer 8, not doing anything out of the ordinary either. My computer just gets these screens at random times. I have looked at other topics in this forum for the answer, but it has been difficult finding a solution.

Blue Screen Problem

I been lurking around here for sometime hoping to find some answers to my problem. While cleaning my files in my laptop, i accidentally delete my boot.ini so i encountered "ntdlr missing problem "press alt ctrl delete". I have my windows xp 98 cd & made a boot from there but it's asking for administrator password although i didn't have a password. So i given up on doing this stuff.

To keep my old files from losing i decided not to reformat my laptop since i didn't have any back up of it. So my friend & i decided to install windows 7, but whenever i watch movie from a dvd- rom i encountered some problem. The images goes blurred then eventually my laptop crashed. Diagnosis were:

Blue Screen Of Death

Running windows 7 professional, ie 8 - keep getting unexpected shutdowns with the following errors: 1) memory management and 2) pfn list corrupt. For the memory management error i have run the memory diagnostics and the results indicate that i have a hardware problem and i should contact the manufacturer (gateway). Unfortunately, i no longer have a warranty and they charge $60 for 1/2 hour. (I have spent that much and the technical support person didn't resolve my problem).

I don't have a clue as what pfn list corrupt is. Please note that i am not a tech person and all the reports(dumps) that vare generated are useless to me, since they are not clear to read.
I do run all my maintenance and antivirus programs daily and try to keep everything according to protocol. Yet i keep getting the blue screen of deaths. Please also note that i always get a window after the fact that reads: "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown. "

Questions:

1) if i purchase a new hard disk, would this take care of the problem or not?

2) does ram have anything to do with these errors? 3) what other alternatives are there?

Would appreciate solid guidelines and your enlightening me on the above resolution.

Blue Screen At Login

I bought my friend laptop after he came back from iraq cause he no longer wanted it. I was going threw changing the stuff to make it mine, like user name and what not. Well i tried to change the computer name as it was his name kebowlin-pc and it said to do this to restart the computer. I did, and now when the computer gets to windows 7 login screen it goes to the blue screen error. I have done two system restores with no luck. I have also tried changing the name back with now luck. This is what it is telling me.

Also a weird thing that i don't under stand is that the main user file is his name and it has a little lock on its pic in the user files, but i am the only person on the computer and the only admin.

Constant Blue Screen

I recently purchased a computer running windows 7 home premium 64-bit. Here are the basic specs.
Intel(r) core(tm) i5 cpu 750 @ 2. 67 ghz 8. 00gb ram

I bought this pc mainly for gaming (primarily steam, but i've been running games like dragon age: origins and cryostas is without the client). However, recently, every time i quit a game (or any program that's full screen, really) or attempt to change my resolution/display settings, i instantly get a blue screen. This can be at any time; i can boot the computer (which only take about 45-60 seconds) and instantly boot, for example, team fortress 2; and the second i quit it, i get the blue screen. Because of this i somehow doubt it has anything to do with overheating issues, but i myself wouldn't really know. Here's the error code that i receive upon windows' revival.

Blue Screen 0x1e

Well, i received a new computer about a month ago, and it's been running perfectly until today. I started it up and was customizing the dock when my virus program, mcafee, told me i needed to restart my computer because it had recently updated. After it rebooted, it ran fine until suddenly a blue screen popped up with some text on it. Sorry, but i didn't have time to read the text because it popped up and left so fast. I did get to read something about it needing to shutdown to protect data (i think), but that's about it.

Anyway, when it rebooted, it stopped in the middle of it and told me the unexpected shutdown caused some problems and told me that i might be able to recover my data if i started windows in safe mode, so i chose the regular safe mode and rebooted it. It started with the screen resolution in 800x600, and looked like windows 2000 with a few different things. The background was now this black screen with "safe mode" text in all four corners, and "microsoft" text centered on top of the screen. It opened up two things, one being a "what is safe mode" help window, and the other being some sort of error window telling me that "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" and that windows could "check online for a solution to the problem the next time you go online. ' and then told me the error details.

After i had read all of it and copied the error details to a notepad file, i rebooted again hoping it'd turn back to normal. It started up again and is currently running normally without any problems, but i still want to know what happened, why, and how i could fix and/or prevent the issue from appearing in the future.

Blue Screen When Using Ie8

I get a bsod randomly when using ie8. Using bluescreen view i typically get the following info: a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Bluetooth Causes Blue Screen

I installed a usb bluetooth adapter today on my toshiba laptop running windows 7, and i have been getting consistent blue screen errors since the install. The computer generally starts fine, but shortly after log in (2-10 minutes) i get a blue screen error. I went into msconfig and disabled the new entry under startup and services titled "bluetooth service", but that has not solved the problem, and now i am getting the error even when the adapter is not plugged in. Blue Screen With Error D1

Blue screen with windows 7 i"ve been running windows 7 since it came out in october with no issues. Back in march after an update and reboot i've had restart after restart problems, many giving me different errors everytime. Sometimes i can load in safe mode, but it usually takes me rebooting 10 times to get there. I roll back to the previous update and seem to get restarted only to start the process all over again on another reboot. Some of the errors i've gotten are memory_management, or unknown hard error(systemootsystem32dll.dll), a usb driver error, page fault in non page area, e tc.

I haven't installed anything, and even tried a clean install and before i run any updates im getting restart errors again. I currently have all updates turned off so its not a new update thats causing this. Im ready to go back to windows xp im so frustrated. We run windows 7 on 4 other computers and we haven't had any issues so not sure why its just me. This is a copy of the latest error i received
