Repeated Shutdown Pc To Tv

1. I think my pc cannot find the tv.

2. The pc (win 7) shuts down quickly four times and recovers quickly four times, then goes to a blue screen (with a lot of text).

3. The blue screen last just a moment, if fact i cannot read the text.

4. Then the pc reboots and ask if "i want to reboot in regular (or safe) mode).

5. The steps above then repeat, except maybe one out of ten times it finds the tv and all is right with my pc to tv world. What to do?

Repeated Prompt For Update

My computer isn't updating daily like it should. The only update offer that i receive is for kb890830. I've checked my update history and it shows that the update has been successful, but it continues everyday. I've also tried deselected the update so the prompting will discontinue, but even then, it's still giving me problems. I filed an incident report and was told to do the following (see below) - which i did, but even that didn't help. Can anyone offer some advice?

It's getting very annoying! This issue could be also caused if the specific registry branch is corrupted. At this time, please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. Step 1: backup the registry. As we need to modify some registry keys to troubleshoot this issue, let’s perform the following steps to backup the current registry first. 1. Click start, click run, type regedit, and click ok. 2. Select my computer (the root node) in the left pane, click export under the file menu, choose "all" under export range, select desktop in the save in box, type backup in file name, and then click save.

Please note: the backup file is on the desktop and named backup. Reg. We can simply restore the registry by double-clicking the backup. Reg file. After we have completed the troubleshooting and the issue has been resolved, we can delete this file. 3. Close the registry editor. Step 2: restore the relevant registry key.

1. Click start, run, type: notepad c:fix. Reg and press enter. Choose yes when you are prompted.

2.copy the following commands and then paste them into the opened notepad window. Windows registry editor version 5. 00 [hkey_local_machinesoftwaremicrosoftremovaltools]

3. After pasting the above commands, please close the notepad window. Choose yes when you are prompted to save the file.

4. Click start, run, type: c:fix. Reg and press enter to run the commands we have pasted.

5. A dialog box will pop-up saying "are you sure you want to add the information in c:fix. Reg to the registry?". Click yes on this dialog box6. Reboot the machine.

7. After the machine reboots, please install the latest version of kb890830 again by the following direct link.

Repeated Blue Screen Error 44

I've had a couple of identical blue-screens on my pc in the last few days. I'm slightly concerned as the last time this happened it was a precursor to my video card effectively melting. I've picked up the error report in action centre action centre and they're copied below. Anyone got any ideas what's causing the problem?

Repeated Master Boot Record Corrupted

Had an old hd out in oct 2009. New hd was loaded with windows xp home ed. New hd was west. Digital 500g sataii 32mb 7200rpm. Switched to windows 7 pro in late dec. 2009.system ran fine until feb 10, 2010.

Tried start up repair and got message "start up repair cannot repair this computer automatically". Tried bootrec.exe tool options. No joy. Finally problem determined to be corrupt master boot record.

Had the oct west. Digital hd tested professionally by store where hd was purchased. 8 bad sectors. Dealer replaced hd with identical replacement under in-store warranty i had purchased. Hd was partitioned to separate windows 7 from other files. 50g allocated to windows 7

Re-installed windows 7 pro along with firefox, thunderbird, adbloc plus , adobe acrobat (latest version), ms security essentials and one game copyrighted in 2002. Btw, the game ran fine for years in xp.

1st feb hd lasted less than 1 week. Same messages. Same final diagnosis, master book record is corrupt. Went back to dealer. Had all components tested. Only bad actor was the 1st feb hd which had 2 bad sectors and 3 weak sectors. Dealer installed identical new west. Digital hd under continued warranty on feb 24. Nice of them to do that. Same software installed on 2nd feb hd. 2nd feb hd partitoned same as oct hd.

2nd feb hd lasted until feb 28. Same symptoms. Ran start up repair. Problems identified:

Problem signature 01: 0. 0. 0. 0

Attempted re-install. Got license terms. Clicked custom installation. No partitions showing, no drives found.

Ran start up repair again. Windows cannot repair automatically.

Diagnosis and repair details:
Session details:
System disk =  blank
Windows directory =  blank
Autockru=  0
Number of root causes = 1

Test performed:
Check for updates
Result :  completed successfully  error code = 0x0

Test performed:
System disk test
Result:  completed successfully  error code = 0x0

Root case found:
A hard disk could not be found. If a hard disk is installed, it is not responding.

Ran bootrec /scanos - total identified windows installations: 0
Ran bootrec /fixboot - the system cannot find the path specified.
Ran /fixmbr - defaulted back to options listing with no results being displayed.

Why the f- do the brand new hd's keep corrupting repeatedly?  The statistical probability of there being manufacturing defects in 3 hd's built months apart are about the same as winning the power ball lottery.

The only installed game has an autosave feature that saves the game every 10 minutes.could an incompatibility between windows 7 and the old game be the problem?

Cannot Shutdown After Upgrade

I've upgraded my nec notebook (versa s9100) from vista business to window 7 ultimate. After upgrading, the notebook does not shut down completely. The power light indicates that the power is on and i have to hold the power button down to cut power. When it starts up again, it will say that the computer was not shut down properly.

I can hibernate the computer but when it starts up, i get the recovery page where i have the option to start in safe mode, etc. I select "start windows normally" and it works ok. I tried doing the clean boot as suggested by other forums but it did not resolve the problem.

I realized that i forgot to turn off my avast anti-virus when i did the upgrade. Would that have affected the upgrade?

Abnormal Program Shutdown

When i close an email in outlook (2007), the whole outlook program closes; same with word docs. Not just ms office programs, this happens in other programs as well - eg copernic agent professional: close down a search and the whole program exits!Have run both virus and malware checks but nothing there. Only other possible clue is that the mouse pointer appears unduly sensitive (but can see nothing in control panel to reduce sensitivity). Am using single mouse click. Any assistance appreciated . . .

Shutdown Button Sometimes Deactivated

I have a problem with windows 7 professional 64 bit. Sometimes the shutdown button is deactivated, i can see the button but can't click on it. Only with ctrl+alt+del it's possible to shutdown, log off etc. The error appears randomly so sometimes it works, and i can shutdown, log off etc. With clicking the button. It isn't a user-right based error because i have the problem with admin rights and also with normal user rights. I don't have a policy running where the shutdown button is deactivated. I installed the os with help of the waik tools, sysprep and a unattend.xml file but i don't set anything like this in the unattend file. Does somebody have any idea what it could be?

Shutdown Errors & Support

This seems to be a recurring theme on all the win 7 forums, the machine won't shut down properly. Select shut down, screens goes to the "shutting down" view, but the circle icon freezes after a few seconds and the machine hangs.

When i reboot, windows does not report a failure, it just boots normally and works fine, but come shut down, problems again.

This is happening everytime i use the machine, though sometimes i get the odd bsod thrown in at shut down as well, just for good measure.

I have used the internal checking within win 7 to try to find the issue, but nothing works, i don't want to have to re-install win 7 ultimate, a couple of weeks after installing it, but that is looking like the only option and that is not guaranteed to fix the issue.

I have tried to contact microsoft through their online "help & support" forum, but they say my version of win 7 ultimate is not activated (yes it is), then when i enter my product code, it says because i am not registered, i have to pay £45 for 1 hour of support.

Me pay them to have them fix a problem with their software! I thought vista was bad, this is just vista 1. 5 with bugs, should l have stuck to vista.

Anybody got any ideas on what is causing this, as lots of people are seeing this issue, yet no support answers seem to give a resolution

System specs are

Win 7 ultimate
Quad core processer
6gb of ram
2 x 512mb nvidia graphic cards working in sli mode
2 x 1tb sata hdd
28" hd monitor

Win7 Random Shutdown

I am using win 7 ultimate 32 bit, upgraded over vista home premium 32 bit. My laptop is randomly shutting down, it never done it while i had vista installed. It is not going in to sleep mode or anything similar, as some have suggested, it completely shuts down with no warning but can be booted up straight away. The only time i can make it happen for sure is when i run the windows experience index, it gets near to the end and then shuts down. I used to be able to run the wei before so i don't know why it does it now.

Any ideas as this is really annoying me?

Update At Shutdown Hangs Up

Os: win 7 home premium 64 bit oem installed on zt 1. 5t desktop
Service pack level:  do not know. Machine is 2 weeks old and have seen 3-5 successful updates at shutdown time.

Few weeks ago bought a quad-core zt machine that came with win 7 home premium 64 bit os and a 1. 5t hd. Have been very happy with the unit, and have seen some 3 or 4 updates at shutdown with the usual banner "please do not power off or unplug your computer; installing update 1 of x. "  So, would happily head to bed and could hear the unit shut down in five minutes or so.

Not so last evening (fri, feb 26). Saw the update screen at 11 pm, and still there as of 10 am this morning. Yes, can see some sporadic hard disk activity, and the spinning cursor.

Any idea what may be happening, and more importantly how can i break out of the update, bring to a place where i can continue my work?

Btw, have two other win 7 systems that did not have the update last evening: a netbook running home premium 32bit, and a dell desktop running win 7 ultimate. All three are on a home win 7 network.

Instant Shutdown Using Flash Player

I upgraded to windows 7 professional 32-bit a couple months ago from windows xp on my gateway laptop. I don't know why my computer keeps shutting down everytime i play either a video or games mainly using adobe flash player. This always happens while doing any flash applets, surfing the web, and playing games on my computer. It will freeze up for about a second and then just shut off completely to immediate power off.

It won't even allow me to restart right after it shut downs. The computer will act like it's going to restart & then shut down again a few times. I have to wait about 10-15 minutes to be able to restart it. I have uninstalled & reinstalled flash player, restored the computer to a previous state, made sure that all my drivers are updated & even tried to the system recovery/troubleshoot in windows 7. This only started after i upgraded.

Install Update On Reboot, Not On Shutdown

I have a question that i thought microsoft would have thought about and implemented years ago. When there is updates for windows that needs to be installed, why do microsoft only have the option to install these on a shut down? If there is any updates you get 2 options.

1. Shut down the computer and install updates.

2. Install the updates and hope that the update doesn't require you to reboot.

What i want is this.

1. The option to install updates when i reboot my pc because then i can install the updates if i go away for a while and the computer are updated, rebooted and ready to be used again when i get back. Even if the update doesn't require a reboot this feature would appreciated. Murphys law apples here. If you don't have the time to reboot after installing updates a reboot is required. If you do have time a reboot isn't required. And even if a reboot isn't required there is no harm done if i choose to reboot and install updates.

2. The option not to install updates when i want to shut down my pc. Sometimes i might just want to shut down the computer without having to install the update because i'm in a hurry. I don't want to have to wait for the updates to install before i can take my computer with me.

Bsod - Usbhub.sys On Shutdown / Hibernate

A few days ago my computer with a recently installed windows 7 build 7100 start getting a bsod every single time i shut it down, restarted it or set it to hibernate. I've tried updating all ubs drivers in device manager but they were all up to date and didn't help. I tried restarting it with not a single usb device plugged in. I normally only have a usb mouse and sometimes a exhd or ipod plugged in, standard stuff. I tried doing my own research for the problem elsewhere but couldn't find any answer.

I also tried windows update and installed these three new optional updates but that failed to make any difference either. What other information do you need about my computer to diagnose the problem?

After An Accidental Shutdown The 32-bit Program Flickers

Dreamweaver 8 worked fine for the first few days on my windows 7 computer. Oddly the companion program, fireworks, is just fine. I accidentally hit the power strip and turned the computer off. Since then it it won't open. When i try to open it, it flickers on, then disappears. Same thing happens when i try to get the 8. 02 patch from macromedia.

Yes, it's an older version, but i am reluctant to buy cs4 since it's not quite compatible and they're coming out with cs5 sometime this year. Does the flickering signal something worse with my computer? Any way to get this 32-bit program running again?

Forced Shutdown - Anti Virus Issues

I have a new laptop with win7-hp. This was my stupidity, but since i had 1 license remaining, i tried to install bit defender 2009 on the machine. (Learned later that there is no compatibility with 2009). The machine slowed to a crawl, and then i had to force shutdowns (maybe three times) before i got smart and used msconfig to disable bd at start which allow me to uninstall bd.

The machine runs fine now, but i get trend micro notifications saying because of the forced shut downs, the trend updates are not taking. Would appreciate any help. Does windows have any built-in diagnostic capabilities other than defrag (which i ran) to help with this?

Win7 Won't Shutdown Properly

When re-starting windows 7, it says windows shutting down, but then it lock's up, and i have to shut the computer off manually, and when i re-start i get a black screen that say's windows did not shut down correctly and gives me options to choose from, but none of these options fix the problem, so i am forced to turn off the computer manually, how can i get the computer to shut down in the usual way, have no problem with the computer starting up, just when shutting down, there are no driver conflicts, and all programs work fine.

Blue Screen Memory Dump During Shutdown

So i am setting up windows 7 enterprise 32-bit in a computer lab, and most of the time when i perform a shutdown or restart i get a blue screen memory dump. I think it has something to do with an apple software product as the problem started showing up after i installed itunes and quicktime. I tried uninstalling all of the apple software and deleted all i could find in program files, but it has made no difference. I tried installing a hotfix that was said to fix this problem, but it didn't. (404160_intl_i386) my blue screen info is: stop:0x0000000a (0x8ac65bf0, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x8286f1b9)

Shutdown Hangs / Internet Would Drop Out Randomly

Okay for a while i've had what appeared to be two separate problems with 7:

1) the internet would drop out randomly (it would show the little triangle sign over the bars in the corner). Clicking on the small icon shows the box as usual but any attempt to connect/disconnect, refresh has no effect. On a couple of occasions after clicking a few time is tells me that explorer.exe needs to be restarted (or words to that effect). In any case restarting it just replaces the little triangle with the spinning circle - which last for as long as the computer is left on. In both cases no connection to the internet is possible. I have troubleshooted numerous times to no success, checked all my passwords and thats fine and i can see no discernible pattern in these drop-outs.

2) the second problem i was having was shutdown hangs. It would process everything as normal and then hang where it says 'windows shutting down', i believe. I checked my motherboard (an asus) and corrected that and the problem seemed to have gone away.

Eventually though it reappeared and i relaised that whenever the internet dropped out the computer would hang at shutdown. Now whenever the internet drops out i have to force it to shutdown and restart the computer again. When the internet drops out, as far as i'm aware, every program works fine (such as word etc. ) I just can't connect to the internet or shutdown the computer.

To summarise:

1) internet drops out (happens regardless of internet connection) showing yellow triangle icon
2) computer won't shutdown after this has happened.

I've searched these forums to no avail, so does anyone out there have any ideas what this could be?
