Media Player 12 And Powerdvd 8

I recently upgraded my laptop from xp to windows 7 ultimate. Now i can't seem to play dvds. Not sure if i have one problem or several. I have tried using the included windows media player 12, and i get video with no sound. I used cyberlink's powerdvd 8 with xp, and tried re-installing that but it no longer works either. It starts the video feed, with no sound, then crashes and says "this copy protected disc can not be played when the tv out function is enabled"

Thinking i might have a display setting issue in windows i looked under hardware->devices-> and under display. I see the same thing in both "generic pnp monitor" "with standard vga adapter". That's it.
I've already updated all drivers.

Media Player Do Not Stream Mp3 Files To Lg Bd390 Player

Windows media player streams video, pictures to lg bd390 player, but not mp3 files. How can i get to work? I am successfully using wmp12 as upnp server over wireless network to stream video and pictures to lg bd390 blu ray player. However, while the bd390 shows audio file, on selection, it times out suggesting "network congestion issues". Is there a fix to this problem. By the way, nero homemedia 4 essential, which comes with player, does play all media types, but seems to be messing up my network in other ways. I would prefer to get wmp12 to work. I think nero product uses wmp12.

Automatic Media Information In Media Player Stops

I'm running wmp12 on win7. I placed a bunch of mp3s in "my music" folder, then went into windows media player and in options for "automatic media information updates for files" i checked all the boxes (with the sub-selection of "only add missing information"). So as i anticipated, wmp started to organize all my music into nice little folders (like itunes). But then after getting about half way through, it has just stopped. So half my music is organized and half is not. Does anyone have any idea why it stopped and how i can get it to finnish the job?

Media Player Gone

Yesterday i began having problems with media player 11. I tried to get help from microsoft and hp with no luck. I tried to uninstall it thinking i could reinstall it and solve the problem. I couldn't find an uninstaller anywhere, yes i tried the control panel. So i tried to delete the whole file thinking i could just download and install another. I couldn't delete it until i changed the permissions and restarted the computer.

Now my media player is gone and none of the downloads i'm getting are working. All i'm finding are for vista or xp and an update for 7n etc. Does anyone know where i can find windows media player that will install on windows 7? I have other media players that work, but i'm more familiar with the windows one.

Media Player 11 Or 12

My wife hates. Hates the new media player that's on her windows 7 os. I know you can disable it. My question is if i disable the player for her will i be able to install media player 9 on her system? As a side note, i followed instructions from a helpful person on this forum to stop my media player 11 from adding all my sound bytes from a recording program i have on my windows xp. It worked for a day but now the media player is at it again, it constantly adds gigs of sound bytes to the media player library.

I just reverted back to media player 9 and i'm waiting to see if it happens on that version. I like the media player but if it continues to add those files to the library i'll have to drop windows media player. If anyone has done a search on problems people are having with windows media players on the net. It's literally millions of people that hate these players lol. Ok maybe it's not so funny.

Media Player 12 In-compatible

I recently installed windows 7 onto my laptop, upgrading from windows vista. I had windows media player 11 on vista and i understand windows media player 12 comes with windows 7. However, the first time i tried playing some music, windows media player 12 was just a desktop shortcut. The program had deleted itself some how. This would not be a problem if i could download another copy. But the two windows media packs for kn and n windows both say they are incompatible with my computer. Can anyone help? Or must i abandon my music listen on my computer?

Skins For Media Player 12

I asked about this a couple of weeks ago, and received an answer. Unfortunately, i've been away from the forums for awhile and am sorry i didn't respond then. Anyway, i downloaded a skin for media player 12 and now none of the skins work. Well, all i get is a white box in the shape of the skin and if i hover the mouse over the correct places i can use the controls. If i click on skin chooser the player stops working altogether. A window appears saying that windows will stop the program and search for a solution.

Someone told me in this forum to uninstall media player from control panel under turn windows features on or off but it didn't work. Evidently this doesn't actually uninstall media player, it just deactivates it. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I promise i will keep in touch. I would like to thank whomever helped the last time, i shouldn't have left you hanging. By the way, i am running windows 7 64 bit home premium.

Media Player 12 Issues

I've recently purchased a laptop with windows 7 home premium. I'm a fan of music and as such i have a wma lossless catalog consisting of over 1000 cds. I'm also a fan of album art over pretty lighting effects. I've scanned each cd's cover art to show 960 x 960 jpeg clarity. So far windows 7 works well except for windows media player. I don't want to have to re-rip my entire collection to another format (just reverting back to wmp 11 would be acceptable).

Library not loading correctly, if song title doesn't match online content completely then music goes to "unknown" folder. Am unable to view my own album art (960 x 960) versus online album art (sub 300x300). No advanced tag editor? If these issues cannot be resolved, how do i install wmp 11 on a windows 7 machine? Very disappointed so far.

Media Player Is Corrupted

I purchased a new hard drive from a local computer store. They removed my vista system and put windows 7 ultimate on as operating system. They slaved my old drive as a e: local but had reformatted it. I have had no problems with downloading media but some of my files show the media corrupted message when i try to use them. Is there a easy fix for this problem or if i purchase a ultimate upgrade disk would that repair the damage? I have tried to use the fix it micros, and windows updates but the problem is still there.

Media Player 12 Library Help

I am not able to delete any of the sample music that came pre installed on windows 7. I deleted the files from the my music folder/my videos but i cant delete them from windows media player 12 or windows media center. I would like to know how to do this. When i hit delete on them nothing happens same thing if i drag them to the trash. That's not close to the big problem though. I am not able to add any music to the library without it all getting deleted once i close wmp 12. How can i get around this?

It is a brand new computer i just bought it. It came installed with windows 7 home premium 64 bit. It has no virus or anything like that wrong with it.microsoft sure did mess up with wmp 12, wmp 11 was great but they font have it for windows 7 that im aware of. I also tried to re-download wmp 12 but i couldn't find the link to download it. They kept trying to make me download a plug in for it instead of the player itself. Since there's such little problems with this operating system like this im already regretting not going with a mac.

Media Player Help And Support

My windows media player doesn't allow me to make a playlist. When i rip a cd, make my changes i then drag it into the playlist and nothing happens. I just doesn't move as a single file or a batch when all is selected. I did everything i could think of then went to help and got the following message: "you're not connected to online help, which shows you our latest content. Check your internet connection, and then try to connect to online help again. If you still see this message, the online help may be temporarily unavailable. "

My connection is very good and a friend checked and online help is available. I did restart computer and also my modem as a "what the heck" effort and all is the same.

So really there are 2 problems.

1) media player, new with this computer which i bought about 1 month ago
2) online help and support which i can't reach through the media player or the start button-both routes give same message.

My internet hookup is working well. Got any ideas?

Media Player 12 Memory Usage

I installed windows 7 professional 64 bit from a 32 bit vista home prem system and have encountered memory usage problems. Basically, the longer i have windows media player open, the more ram it uses, in other words it keeps increasing until i close it. I reinstalled win7 and found that the problem went away, however, once i updated windows 7 the problem came back. Before i updated, the usage was low, in the 20, 000k range and when i updated it turns on at 30, 000k and increases dramatically. Should i install 32 bit windows 7 or does anybody have a solution?

My system is a dell xps 420 q6600 2. 4 ghz, 4 gb dual channel ddr2 ram

Low Memory When Using Media Player

I have a new laptop: compaq cq60-615dx notebook- 2gig ram- 250 harddrive- intel celeron. I have a pop-up message that says, "low memory close all other applications and try again" when trying to play a dvd. When this happens i wasn't using any other applications my anti virus wasn't running, nothing was updating. I don't see a reason for low memory.

Taskmanger: cpu usage jumps from 1% to 85%
Phycial memory: 750mb to 900mb (i checked this when nothing was running)

I have only added 3 software programs which were not running. I have searched this forum and apparently others have had a hard time with low memory using widows 7. I'm willing to buy more ram but i would like to know first if that will resolve this problem. One post a gentlemen stated he had no other software added and had 8gig memory and had low memory (high cpu usage)trouble.

Media Player Album Art

I have one item of music on my desktop that looks like a piece of paper with the top right corner folded down and in the middle is a blue music note and right under that is the characters mp3. When i click on this it starts playing and all there is to see are the controls at the bottom and a big blue musical note in the center. If i right click in it i can select visualization and select things like bars and waves and of course the big blue note that is already selected.

I want there to be a picture i have in place of that blue note while the sound is playing. I have tried for hours inside of the media player program with picture and play lists and all of it. Does anyone know how i can get a jpeg picture in that one media player control window when i click on it so the picture will be there while it's playing?

Media Player 12 Dropping Files

Just in the last couple of days i've noticed that albums i know should be in the wmp 12 list are missing. They are still available in my music, but the player no longer posts them when it lists the albums available. For example-a downloaded album from amazon that i purchased about 10 days ago was fine until yesterday, when it disappeared. If i try opening it from the my music file, it plays just fine, but the album still won't list in wmp.

I even tried burning the album to cd, and then ripping it back to wmp- which worked fine until i closed and re-opened wmp-and then no album. Very frustrating. I'm tempted to use the "restore media files" button in tools, but i'm afraid i'll end up with a mess. Anyone know what the problem is? I forgot to mention that i'm running windows 7 home premium 64-bit.

Media Player 12 Ripping Issues

I have been reading some of your errors that have been happening within media player 12. I have been experiencing some of the known issues other users have made comments about, errors with library database, errors with selecting library folders  database not updating with new tunes

This is another error i have found in media player. I go to rip cd either manually or rip on insert of cd the same problem happens it rips cd adds the album / song to database. I close down media player, open it back up again and the album / song has disappeared from library. Although after checking it has still got the ripped album in the folder when looking via explorer shell or my computer.

Also songs that i have deleted from computer still visible in the media player library. I am using window 7 64-bit qx6850 chip, asus maximus ii m/b, 4 gb ocz reaper 1066, xfx force gtx285, ocz solid state drive.

Media Player Constantly Upgrading

Windows media player has hijacked my laptop! Constant upgrading of media has all but frozen my computer. Ive run defragment, un checked most of the buttons under tools/options. Ive followed directions given under help, and the darn thing just keeps running. ! I tried to delete the files from library, that posed two separate problems. (1) i need permission to delete some of the files, (2) some of the folders are 300 mb or so, freezing the computer. Ive tried the suggestions posted here to no avail. Ive even tried using remote assistance, but i don't think anyone is there. I have no real idea what im doing, as this is my first computer.

Media Player 12 Duplicate Tracks

Before you even answer. Understand that the music folder has only one copy of each track. So no wild goose chase to delete these extra songs. This has to do with media player 12 and the way it is scanning the folders and checking them against what is already in the library.

I purchased a new computer and i needed windows in order to play the games i had. I was using linux. For as much as i had to pay to get windows 7. Stupid errors like this shouldn't happen at all! I can understand it from the open source guys (of which fewer problems occurred) but not from a product i paid for. There should be a setting or a patch to fix this. Now i notice that when this happens i can close and reopen media player and it goes away until it decides to update the library again. Why by version 12! Does the library features not work properly?

Media Player Cd Burn Error

It starts burning and then stops when it gets to 99%. This error message pops up on the screen: windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. I'm using a laptop with windows 7 that already has a burner inside. Also, when i play the cd in a cd player it seems to work fine. So i'm wondering why it's displaying that message.

No Access To Media Player Libraries

I have a new windows 7 desktop and an existing vista laptop. I have read several articles on how to set up media sharing with media player12 and feel fairly confident that i have implemented the necessary steps. I have four user accounts that are identical on both machines so when you are logger into one, you can see your files and the public files on the other computer.

When i use media player on my laptop to try to access my pictures on my desktop i do see the library with my name and the computer name. However when i click on it i get a message that says. "Before you can play items in this library, you must first be allowed to access the library".

I'm not sure what this means. Since i can go into windows explorer and see the files i think i should have the necessary permission.

Media Center Or Player Will Not Run

I am running windows 7 home premium 64-bit. Saturday things seemed to change. I did no updates on my end, but the media play/center won't run and ie8 doesn't work properly. I don't even see the media player in the program list. I have uninstalled both the media player and ie8 and reinstalled them, no luck. I went through the event viewer logs and don't see a thing that means anything. All was working up until saturday. I can't think of a thing that happened saturday outside of the normal usage. Any suggestions?

Media Player Timing Problem

Recently i've hit a problem with playing divx and xvid files on a box recently updated to windows 7 32-bit home. The wmp 12 plays the files normally until i try to navigate using the players progress bar. If i move it forward, the player freezes for a while (a minuet or so) and after that video seems ok, but sound is way out of sync. If then i move the bar back, it starts playing video at a higher speed and sound is obviously out of sync again.

I've tried to reinstall the codecs. Didn't help. The same files are playing on another box just fine. Also, i've noticed that when i open properties of the files in wmp, it shows blank fields for audio and audio codecs. What can cause this kind of behavior? What can i do to troubleshoot the prob?
