Unable To Burn Audio Cds

Unable to burn audio since loading win 7 but can burn dvd'si have 2 lite-on dh-20a4p combo's which will not burn audio cd's with a number of different burning programs tried in windows 7 ultimate. The funny thing is they both worked to their full capacity in vista ultimate burning both dvd's and cd's with no problems. With different types of media i'll get to the final stage of burning and the programs either won't give me the green light or they just hang. I am thinking that this is an issue with the driver in windows 7 and that perhaps there may be a way to load the vista driver.

When i use wmp 12 to burn i get the following message no matter what media i use.
"Windows media player could not complete burning because the disc is not compatible with your drive. Try inserting a different kind of recordable media or use a disc that supports a write speed that is compatible with your drive. "

The disc has by then ejected. I have tried removing upper and lower filters in the registry to no avail. I can't remember if it worked whilst trialling windows 7 rc1. My hardware is as follows:

Operating system: ms windows 7 ultimate 32-bit
Cpu: intel pentium d 805
Smithfield 90nm technology
Ram: 2. 0gb dual-channel ddr2 @ 267mhz 4-4-4-11
Motherboard: gigabyte technology co. , Ltd. 8vt880p combo (socket 775)
Graphics: generic pnp monitor @ 1680x1050
256mb geforce 7300 gs (undefined) 48 °c
Hard drives: 195. 36gb seagate st320082 scsi disk device (scsi)
Optical drives: atapi dvd a dh20a4p ata device
Atapi dvd a dh20a4p ata device

Audio: realtek ac'97 audio for via (r) audio controlleri've tried many different things, eg: rolling back firmware, attempting to uninstall wmp 12 and replace with wmp 11 but i'm stumped. Worked perfectly with xp then vista unless something in the registry has changed in win 7. All diagnostics say both rom's are fine. What do you guy's reckon?  Ideas:programs you are having problems with error messages recent changes you made to your computer what you have already tried to fix the problem

Error When Trying To Burn Cd - Windows Media Player Cannot Burn Files

Windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. I just burned a cd with absolutely no problems at all. Using the same type of cd, brand new, i attempted to burn another cd and got this error message: windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish.

If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. I've shut down all programs running, restarted my computer, changed the burn speed under the devices tab, everything i knew to do and all the things i've read through these forums, no such luck, still getting the exact same message. Any clue why my cd burner has decided to just stop working for me?

Running Older Programs From Cds

I have a few programs that obviously are not compatible w/windows 7 and are a little older than even 2003. Is there any way to get these programs to work on my computer w/windows 7. One of the cd's is one called, "family lawyer" and it has alot of legal forms on it that i could use due to recent situations. If i can figure out how to load that one, then i should automatically know  how to get the others to install. The error message just states that this program/cd is not compatible with your current operating system. (Which is windows 7 premium).

Some Cds/dvds Wont Play

Games / movies won't play?Hi, we recently purchased / upgraded our desktop family computer and in the last month, our disc drive seems to be quite particular which cd's and dvd's it will play. We have purchased new games and it won't play them, tried to watch a dvd via the computer and the media player doesn't even have the "pop up" to commence, it just lies idol. We are not computer savvy so anyone that can help us with any information, in badly terms please, we would be forever grateful.

System Wont Detect Cds

After performing a clean install of windows 7 pro my computer wont detect music cds. It will play movies with its corresponding audio. But it wont play regular music cds originals, burned or from any file extension of music cds it wont just detect that the cd is loaded in the cd rom tray.

I already tried  windows trouble shouting and nothing. Checked file extension association and everything appears to be in order. I also ran drm. Also perform cd, dvd region check. Lastly i also perform a system check from the windows command prompt and found nothing either.

Anybody have any other ideas?

Cd/dvd Drive Stopped Reading Cds

My cd/dvd drive stopped reading cd's, but still reads dvd just fine. I find it very strange. I occasionally write dvd's and cd's and tend to use dvd alot. Well, cd was working just fine up until a few days ago when i couldn't listen to my friends music. I hopped up from my laptop and out the cd into another computer which read the cd just fine. I really need some advice. To me, writing and reading cd's is mandatory for me since i just installed ubuntu linux on a secondary computer.

Dvd Only Reads Cds But Does Not Read Dvds

I have tried uninstalling the device from my ibm thinkpad t40 and reinstalling it and tried again with the driver signing security fucntion deactivated (from the "f8" pre-boot menu). I know that my drive is capable of reading and writing to dvd disks because i installed ubuntu and tested it. It also used to work fine with windows vista.

In its device properties (right click on the drive and go to properties. Then click properties again) it says that the manufacturer is "standard cd-rom drives". The device description value is displayed as cd-rom drive and under driver details the driver file is c:windowssystem32driverscdrom.sys

I think that windows & is assigning the wrong driver to my device. How can i reinstall my device with the correct driver? When i try to update the driver, i get a message that the best driver is currently installed, a false message.

My drivers are all up to date as best as i can find. I know it's a cd-dvd rom because before i upgraded i had no problems reading cds and dvds. This is a problem because all my anti-virus and other programs are all on cds. I have no idea how to go about correcting this.

Cannot Burn A Cd From Library

I have windows 7 and when i try to burn audio from my library it starts to burner and then i get an error message saying that my burner is not connected or something to that effect. I have tried slowing down the burn speed but to no avail. I am using a sony cd-r disc and the music that i trying to burn is not protected. When i go into the fix mode it says that the disc is not recognized but that it has been fixed.

I have checked to see that i have the latest drivers and i have. I was actually able to burn the three audio selections that came with the computer. The only other music i currently have is a classical album that i bought and downloaded from amazon and, that is the one i can't burn to a cd.

How To Burn Files To Cd/dvd?

How do i burn files to cd/dvd? I've spent the past hour trying to burn files to my cd/dvd. Even after i erase the disc and tell windows 7 what files to burn it tells me the files already exist on the destination disc or there isn't enough disc space on the destination even after i erase the darn thing.

Then when i finally get it start burning and even during what i perceive as the burning process that balloon keeps popping up telling me i have files ready to burn even though they were burned (at least that was the case the last time) i'm attempting to burn the same updated files that i burned a week ago. Apparently erasing the disc does no good. Am i missing something or is there an easy way to do this? Maybe some third party software would make things a bit easier.

Not Able To Burn Files To Dvd

Problems burning dvds i'm new to windows 7. I have read the instructions for wmp 12 and i cannot burn dvds. I had no problem in vista but this is a trial just getting the files into the player. Drop and drag doesn't work. I finally got the avi files into it but on one dvd player i have a pic and no sound and on the other sound and no pic. I used a dvd-wr, which didn't work at all and a dvd -r, which gave me the results i just stated. At one point, i got a list up of settings but i can't find it again. Both dvd players support divx. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Media Player Cd Burn Error

It starts burning and then stops when it gets to 99%. This error message pops up on the screen: windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary, verify that the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the latest device driver. I'm using a laptop with windows 7 that already has a burner inside. Also, when i play the cd in a cd player it seems to work fine. So i'm wondering why it's displaying that message.

Stalled Backup Burn Onto Disc

Yesterday, i tried to burn my weekly back-up disc. It stalled , so i canceled it. Today i tried again, was told to put in the old disc. I did and it stalled again when it came time to take out the first disc. I had to shut down and use the paper clip. I tried again with a new disc (the other one had finished). The process got to 63% and hung there for more than 1/2 hour. It never told me to insert another disc, although, after 2 hours or so it must be done. I will have to paper clip it again to get the disc out. I'm assuming i'm 2/3rds done with my back-up (i have a lot of photos).
Why does the program not say anything when it's hung up?

Windows Media Player Cannot Burn The Files

Windows media player cannot burn the files. If the burner is busy, wait for the current task to finish. If necessary verify the burner is connected properly and that you have installed the last device driver.

If you guys tell me check and make sure the cd burner is connected;been there done that.
If you guy tell me to uninstall the device and reinstall;been there done that
If you guys tell me to try brand new disks;been there done that as well.
I have lowered the burn speed ect.

I have done everything possible. I can burn a disk one time or a few then next disk i get that error. I have yet to burn the system restore disk and i am afraid to for fear of getting that error. I am thinking of getting external burner since no one things its a good idea test things out before putting them out.

Cd/dvd Drive Does Not Support Gapless Burn

When trying to do gapless burn using windows media player 12, received a message stating that cd/dvd drive does not support gapless burn. The drive is part of desktop purchased 2 months ago. Went to cd/dvd manufacturer and received update for drive but gapless burn still does not work. Noticed in win 7 forum that same is happening with others who have bought win 7 and use wmp 12. What can be done to fix this problem?  What new drives exist that allow gapless burn using wmp 12?

Dvd Maker Problem During The Burn Process

I have a sony dvd camcorder (mini disc)and sony vegas movie studio 6 software. Since getting a new laptop with windows 7 i've been having problems with vegas movie studio (i think it may not be fully compatible with windows 7). But it does manage to render my videos to a recognizable format (mpg) so i turned to windows dvd maker, which looks like a great and simple program to use initially. But like many messages on this forum i too had a problem during the burn process - mine only gets to approx. 4% and then comes up with an error message (but the error message displays no detail). What can i do? Is there an alternative? Can i burn a mini disc onto a dvd-r for example? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

When trying to burn a cd wmp goes through the motions but only burns a some of the music and not others then ejects the cd with the message above. Some songs on the burn list have audio codec info some do not. I believe this makes a difference but am not sure.

Message - No Disc In Drive - Can't Burn Picture Cd

I selected about 40 pictures from a gallery folder to burn to disc. I get a window that opens and says "files waiting to be burned to disc" followed by a list of the selected image files. I click 'burn to disc', and am prompted to put an empty disc into the cd-rom drive. After i do, and after closing the drive door, i get a 'checking disc' msg. In the window. In a few seconds the drive door opens, and i see this message: "there is no disc in the cd or dvd burner".

"Please insert a writable disc into the d drive". This drive plays discs fine, and i had no problems burning when i used vista, but after a hd crash, i upgraded to win7 and this is my first attempt at making a disc. Is there some compatibility issue here?. Device mgr. Says the device is working. The driver is up to date.

No Audio

I built this computer about a year ago, and when i built it, i put windows 7 (64bit) on it. I then downgraded to windows xp (64bit) due to software compatibility. Yesterday, i cracked open my windows 7 (64bit) disk again, and reinstalled. My audio device: "realtek high definition audio" is shown by the upgrade advisor as compatible with windows 7, and my audio worked through this device when i had 7 on this computer the first time. Before installing 7, the audio worked fine in xp, and i just rebooted into a linuxmint livecd, and it worked out of the box.

My motherboard is an asrock p45xe, and i am using the onboard audio. I have installed the realtek drivers as supplied from the asrock site, and this is how my "playback devices" screen looks:http://screencast.com/t/zwnhnwzm - and, as i say, i know it works as i just booted a livecd and had working audio. Any ideas?

No Audio Working At All

I just replaced my windows 7 rc with windows & ultimate on my imac yesterday and after the installation i found that i had no sound. I have tried every possible way i can think of to solve the problem and nothing works. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it with the mac driver disc, i have tried updating the driver but windows always tells me that it is the most up to date driver. I had no problems with the sound on the rc version of windows 7 so not sure why i am having one now.

Audio Problems

I have a thinkpad x-61 laptop that came with windows vista. It worked fine for 18 months or so. At one point the audio failed and i couldn't hear anything at all. After some days (and i can't recall what i might’ve done) the problem was fixed, only to fail again a week later, for good.

I had a friend (somewhat knowledgeable) help me and after an hour of trying different things he suggested i move from vista to win7 —which i had been planning to do anyway— as the os might’ve had something to do with the problem.

When win7 finally came out i installed the professional edition (not as an upgrade) and discovered that the problem remained as before. At this point i figure my laptop must have a hardware problem, and i was puzzled by the fact that neither speakers nor headphones or mike, worked.

The last thing i tried was using a "dynex" usb headphone / mike combination. I plugged it in; the os installed the necessary drivers and started working just fine.

Now i am lost: can my problem still be hardware or can it be software?

My computer shows under device:
Speakers "soundmax integrated digital hd audio" (the original audio device)
Speaker "usb pnp sound device" (the new headphone)

The driver for the soundmax audio is dated may of 2009 and doesn't give the option for updating it. Furthermore, when checking "properties", the system reports "this device is working properly".

Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem?
