Sound Mixer In Playback Or Output Mode

Where can i get sound mixer in playback (or output) mode? I got this new sony vaio notebook from bestbuy to replace my old one, toshiba satellite window me (i have other computer desktops) recently. With my old toshiba, i frequently visited music chatting room and sang songs through microphone while playing karaoke music from my notebook. When i used output mixer mode i can broadcast both my singing and music in the chatting room. But with this sony, i can not broadcast music file in chatting room but i can sing and my singing can be broadcasted in chatting room.

I do not know if this is a problem of window 7 (because it does not support), or it is the problem of sony (because no proper sound card? Not sure), or it even is the problem of plugin and play software provided by the host of chatting room.

Missing Win 7 Sound Mixer

Does windows 7 have a stereo mixer control like in xp? I do not see it and can't find it. My music software for recording live streaming music only records at extreme low level, beyond control of the software recorder and i can find no way to adjust the pc system sound level. The mic and line in level control are available and ok. Is this another limited feature of 7 compared to good ol' reliable xp? Would a different sound card help? Using microsoft integrated high definition audio 2. 0 card. As a workaround, i have to connect the line out to line in and all works fine.

Output To 2 Sound Cards Simultaneously

I have many reasons why i would want to output to multiple sound cards simultaneously. I know i am not the only one who was this problem based on a couple quick bing searches. I would like to be able to output sound to multiple sound cards at the same time instead of having to switch the "default device" in the audio panel all the time i want them all to be the default device. I want to use my usb headset and my speakers at the same time. I know windows is capable of this because while one is playing i can "test" the other and they both play sound at the same time as far as i know there is simply no setting for this.

Recorded Webcam Sound Is Garbled During Playback

Problem with windows media player in testing the mic on my window webcam 3000 the play back uses the windows media player. When playing back the test sample that i made it is garbled and sounds like the voice is played back in a elevated speed. When using the webcam on skype the person receiving my call tells me that they cannot understand me, but i can hear them just fine. Not sure if it is the media player or something else that is causing it. When playing a cd through the media player the sound is fine. Any ideas?

Dell Studio 1557 Sound / Recording / Playback Problem

I have a dell studio 1557 (64-bit) with windows 7 installed when i bought it last november. I used it without any problems until about february, when suddenly sound started not to work at all. Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem but running even a simple program (such as sound recorder or playing a wmv file using windows player) wouldn't work. I tried system restore as a last resort and it fixed the problem. For a while. It reappeared again after some time, and i fixed it
Again that way, and again and again. So i am wondering if this has any easy fix, and whether any programs might have compatibility issues and cause this? Please let me know if you need any more specs.

Sound Dead After Sleep Mode

Every time my computer goes into sleep mode, and i turn it back on again the sound is gone. I've searched for hours and hours trying things suggested to others with the exact same problem. I've done troubleshooting steps, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, trying different settings in the sound control panel. Nothing. My computer is a self-built running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, i've got a gigabyte mobo with onboard realtek hd. I'm about to resort to just reformatting my entire hdd and reinstalling windows because i'm pretty much convinced there is no fix. This is my exact motherboard: http://www.Newegg. Dvd Playback Codecs

I have not purchased widows 7 yet, but i know that xp will not play a dvd unless you have third party software installed. Will windows 7 have the same problem?  I saw an article that stated that windows cannot put these decoders in their os's, but i wasn't sure if that applied to windows 7.

The reason i'm particularly picky about this question is that i was doing a fresh install of xp last year and found a huge problem. I tried installing several different dvd software cd's and found that when i installed them, suddenly my computer would be unable to connect to microsoft.com. Weird!  I did this on several different computers on different internet connections. I could never figure out why this was happening (neither could microsoft tech support) so i would hate to have to put up with this same issue with windows 7.

.mov Playback Problem

I have a number of files downloaded from my sons kodak video camera. They are . Mov quicktime format.
On my laptop running windows 7 professional 32bit, they play just fine in media player
On my work laptop running windows 7 enterprise 64bit, they play fine in media player
On my desktop pc running windows 7 ultimate 64bit they play fine in media player
On my sons pc running windows 7 home premium 32bit the file cannot be played claiming there is a problem with this file.

Now under explorer, the thumbnail for the file shows fine and windows live movie-maker is happy playing these files but media player refuses. I have done a full uninstall and reinstall of mp and checked that the same codecs are showing as being installed the same on all machines so i am stumped on this one. Any ideas why this one machine should be causing a problem? Is there something in home premium that would prevent this?

Hdmi Output Not Working

About a year ago, i used to use an hdmi cable to connect my computer running vista to my hdtv. Everything worked great. After a while (a few weeks), the hdmi sound stopped working, and the hdmi device disappeared from sound. I never found an answer to the problem. Then i upgraded to windows 7 and the problem persisted. After a little while longer, every time i connected to my tv, the image on the screen would turn yellow. So now neither sound or video is working correctly. I know it is the computer's issue because it is the same on both of my tvs. How can i fix this problem?

Sb Live S Pdif Output

How can microsoft claim on their compatibility page that creative's sb live 24bit pci (chipset sb0410) is playing nicely with the new kid on the block, when they (or the hardware manufacturer) have yet to fix the spdif output on this device? It has been this way since vista. I know because i tried both vista and the beta of 7 on my htpc because the video is supposed to be superior to xp (ie directcompute). But what good does it do to trade one headache for another?

I am not going to buy another piece of hardware because a manufacturer is not communicating with ms or their own support side well enough to address these issues. I guess i'll just keep using an "antiquated" version of windows until someone gets this right. In the meantime, ms please take this piece of hardware off of your checked off list. That bothers me because in shopping for an updated sound card based on that list, how can i trust that spdif will work at all on my next purchase. Should i just assume windows 7 has it under control. Yeah, heard that one before (windows me anyone?).

Netflix Audio Playback Problem

I"m running windows 7 64bit and use this computer as a home theater pc so i use the media center front end on a regular basis.netflix used to play back fine, although the video quality is sub-standard compared to the xbox360 player, so usually i netflix on my xbox instead. But for those times i didn't want to switch devices, the media center netflix player worked fine. Lately though it doesn't work. The video plays back fine, but the audio is 'chunky'. The only way i can explain it is i'll get a tiny bit of audio, then nothing, then a tiny bit of audio, then nothing so two cycles of that in a 1 second time interval.

This goes on non-stop and it doesn't matter what i pick out of my q to watch, it's all the same result. I'm not sure if a windows update caused this or what but i'd really like to get it fixed. Audio playback in total media theater for mkv and bluray is fine, windows media player also works fine for . Avi files both inside the media center front end or launch it direct off the desktop. It's just the netflix thing that's messed up.

Problem With Blue Ray Playback

I recently upgraded to windows 7 (64bit) every thing works fine except for playing blue ray movies (dvd's work fine)

The biggest problem is that the sound is distorted, almost staticky(sic) and some movies the picture and sound is lagging.

I've reinstalled windows twice, latest drivers have been downloaded and i've even searched for the latest drivers from the individual manufacturers to ensure that i have the latest drivers. I have also recently purchased the latest blue ray software (windvd 2010) hoping this would solve the problem with no success.

I have the following theories and would appreciate some input as to if if one of these points might be the case and if it can be rectified.

1. The ide ata/atapi controller drivers are wrong.

I think this might be the case as when going into the device manager and trying to access the advanced properties of any of the ata channels of the above mentioned controller there is no devices which allow me to enable dma. Now as far as what i've been able to gather on after doing my homework on the net is that this has in the past caused problems with jittery playing back on older operating systems. Now surely i'm not the only one who sees that there might be a problem here with incorrect or missing drivers?

If i don't have the option to enable dma how can i rule out it's not causing the problem as has been the case in the past with other win os's. I have been unsuccessful locating drivers on the net for this device.

2. The drivers for the blue ray drive are missing. When selecting driver details in device manager there is only one driver being used and that is the cdrom.sys file. Now i am not sure about this one but should there not be atleast two different drivers being used here? The basic windows one and the one for the drive? The second theory is a total shot in the dark on my part.

Music Playback Issue In Win 7

Since i upgraded to the retail version of windows 7 from the rc, i have been experiencing issues with my music. I usually use mediamonkey for playing my music but i ran into this strange problem where songs would loop backwards, the seek bar would keep going as normal but the song would skip backwards and keep doing that in similar intervals, which was terribly annoying. Trying to stop the song would result in the computer hanging for a while.

I decided to try windows media player and i found that my music was now skipping sometimes. I have never encountered errors like this previously, and i'm not sure what could be the problem. I updated all my codecs, i updated my sound drivers as i had been using the ones that windows chose for me upon installation, but nothing seems to work.

This is terribly frustrating as music along with simple web browsing and instant messaging are my main uses for this computer.

Bluray Playback Freezes Win 7

I have recently upgraded my home pc from vista home premium to windows 7 home premium using the family pack upgrade option. I am now having an issue with bluray playback via powerdvd 9 ultra whereby the disc will play for 5-10 minutes then freeze the system completely. The pc will not respond to ctrl+alt+del and my only option is to power-down using the power switch. I have ensured all my drivers/firmware are up to date , cyberlink is up to date etc. I have even tried switching bluray roms as i thought it could have been a fault with my prev lg one but i have the same problem with the system freezing which i never had with vista.

Current system specs:
Windows 7 home premium(32 bit)
Intel core 2 quad q6600 @ 2. 4 ghz
2 gb ram
Ati radeon hd 4670 graphics card- connected through hdmi
Hp w2207h 22 inch monitor- connected through hdmi
Pioneer bdc-s03 xlb bluray rom/dvd+cd writer
405 watt psu

I have tried alternating cyberlink 9 ultra with powerdvd 8 that came bundled with my bluray drive but it makes no difference i have exactly the same issue. I do not know whether this is a problem with windows 7 itself? A problem with powerdvd ? Or some other issue with my hardware?

How To Change Default Audio Output?

I have an evga 790i ftw motherboard and am using the optical connection on the back for sound. It is connected to my stereo receiver. As of right now, i go to sounds, then select digital audio as my output, and go to properties. Under "supported formats" i can select dts or dolby digital, and when i press test, everything checks out. Afterwards, i go to "advanced" and the default format will only let me select a 2 channel, and that is all that plays out of my stereo. How do i go about changing my output to that of 5. 1 or 7. 1?

Hdmi Output Is Black And White

Built myself a screamer, core i7 920, gigabyte x58, 6gb triple channel ocz ram and a powercolor (ati) 5770. Got it running, hooked it up via hdmi to my sony bravia 40" and everything was sweet. After about a week, the color disappeared. I get color on the sony during post and the windows 7 (x64) logo but as soon as windows loads: no color on the sony. If i switch to vga, i get color. But it is a 30 foot run to the sony and i get ghosting via vga.

I have checked and rechecked all color and resolution settings in both windows and catalyst 10. 2 control panels. I was about to rma the video card but the color during post and windows startup makes me think it will do no good. I have been scouring google for answers but as yet i haven't found the answer.

Help anyone?

No Audio Output Device Installed

I had the same problem before. I upgraded to windows 7, had the red "x" on the audio and fixed it pretty easily with realtek high def audio driver. That's all i can remember from that. Well i bought a new printer and had to downgrade back to vista and that's when the sound messed up again. I tried to fix it with vista but was told i should go back to windows 7 so i did and the problem still persists.

I have a compaq presario sr5113wm and from my knowledge my sound card model is a creative sb live! Series (wdm). Everytime i start my computer the action center pops up with messages saying "address your sound card" or something like that so when i go to the device manager to check the sound, video and game controllers the only option listed is my webcam mic. Realtek or creative are not listed and i tried installing and uninstalling everything and i still get nothing! I keep getting people telling me to take the sound card out but i really want to leave that as a last resort and try to fix this technically. I've done it before but maybe i'm missing something.

Simultaneous Digital Audio Output

Windows 7 is about perfect for my home theater application with the single exception limiting audio output to a single default device. In my setup i have an hdmi cable carrying both audio and video to my tv and i want to use the toslink optical to carry the audio to a second receiver that powers speakers in other parts of my house. Question - do you plan to enable simultaneous digital (or simultaneous digital/analog) audio output in an anticipated service pack release? Please look into this because having to switch default output is a pain.

No Audio Output Device Is Installed

I've already tried updating the driver, but the solution did not work and none of the other solutions are possible for me to even try. I haven't had problems with sound until randomly a little while ago. I have a dell inspiron 1440 on windows 7 64 bit home premium. On the bottom corner, there is a red x next to the sound icon and when i check for playback and recording devices, it just says that none are installed. This is a very frustrating problem.

Audio Output Device Is Not Installed

I just got the "no audio output device is installed" message for the second time. I can't remember what i did last time to fix it, but i've tried everything that people have suggested on multiple threads concerning this. It was literally working last night as i was listening to music, today when i turned it on it said i had no audio output installed. I have an hp pavillion dv9500. I upgraded from vista home 32-bit to windows 7 pro 64-bit, but never had a real problem until now.

I tried to find the driver on the hp site, but the driver didn't work. I've even tried to restore my computer to a week ago when i got a system update, but it keeps failing. There is also an exclamation mark on the co-processor under other devices in the device manager, but i have no idea what it is, and my sound, video, and game controller section pulled a houdini on me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Audio Output Device Not Working

I have a toshiba a215-s7444 laptop that i have had for 2yrs. It originally came with vista 32 bit installed and 2gb of ram and i added 1gb of ram a year later and all was fine. I recently did a format and custom install of se7en 64 bit. Now everytime that i resumed form "hibernation mode" i had no audio and got the error message that "no audio device is installed and it does not even appear in the device manager. When it runs the diagnostic it tells me that "new hardware may have not been detected. Now upon reboot everything is fine.

I have audio and in the device manager is the realtek hi-definition audio device. But resuming from sleep mode everything worked just fine. Ok so i updated the windows experience index score hoping that it would recognize the new hardware change. But the prob. Persisted. So the other night i added another 1 gig of ram for a total of 4gb. And all 4 gigs are being used, in the control panel>system and security>system it says installed memory (ram): 4 gb ram (3. 87 usable).

So i am fairly sure that it has recognized the added hardware change. Now after adding the 4th gig it recovers from hibernation mode just fine but when coming out of sleep mode i lose my audio device. Until i reboot or restart-lol. Anybody have any ideas besides the obvious just use hibernation mode only. Or is this a question for the toshiba forums?

Wmp Video Playback Freezes Randomly

Setup: windows 7 ultimate x64 clean install, asus m5w dh deluxe mobo, intel dual core 6420 2. 13ghz, 4mb ram, 2 seagate barracuda hard disks 0. 5 & 1. 5tb, nvidia geforce 8800 gtx 768mb (latest x64 driver 195. 62).

When i play videos (mostly dvds or legal ripped dvds), playback will sometime freeze my whole system for 3 to 4 minutes (always the same duration). Sometimes i can play a whole movie without any freeze, at other times it can freeze as early as 10 or 20 minutes into the movie, or as late as 1h30m after the start.

I use mostly built-in wmp12 for playback, but i noticed the same behavior with vlc or kmp players. It also happened once with the miro player, and it also happens when playing wmas on wmp. I disabled all other applications or unnecessary services at some stage, to no avail. This machine has a dual boot with vista ultimate x32 on the smaller disk, but the same playbacks work just fine.

There is absolutely no error in any event log, and i really wonder why this should happen only to windows 7 (x64?). How can i debug this, and how can i fix it? I am starting a new topic for this, as other similar topics do not seem relevant to these symptoms. The weird thing is that the system always resumes after that 3-4 minutes freeze. The only thing is that the wmp playback seems to need to catch up with that delay, video and sound are kind of accelerated and not in sync for a while.

The system is partially responsive during the freeze too: i can see the play button bar when i hover with the mouse over the wmp window, the clock still counts the minutes in the taskbar, at least until i try to click on them: then the donut mouse icon replaces the arrow, and the clock does not change time anymore.

Hdtv Desktop Output - Full Screen

When i first connected my hdtv via hdmi and duplicated the desktop on both laptop and tv, i got a full screen image (at 1366x768). Now, i get a small sized desktop in the middle of the hdtv, unless i only display the desktop on the hdtv (at 1080 lines) and not the laptop. How do i change this back? Also, i used to have the functionality when i hit fn+f5 that it cycled through a range of different display output modes. However, now i need to use windows+p to cycle through projector modes. Any ideas what's changed?

Hard Coding Audio Output To Channels

I have the following setup. A windows 7 htpc with a 8 channel compliant audio output. The audio and video work perfectly when i am connected only through my receiver which is a fully compliant 8 channel input. However, when i use an hdmi splitter connected to my receiver and my tv the audio downgrades to 2 channel stereo. I know that is the way hdmi is supposed to work, go to the lowest common denominator. However, i have confirmed that my tv can accept 8 channel audio input.

I confirmed this by disconnecting the tv when the pc booted and then started a movie on the internal blu-ray player. After i confirmed that i have 8 channel audio i then i reconnect the tv and the audio on both devices work. So my question is, is it possible to hard code the audio output to 8 channels? Just to confirm, both devices are hdcp compliant.
