Cannot Get Nvidia Graphics Card Working

I have a gateway pc, model e-4610d sb. I upgraded to w7 32 bit from w vista 32 bit. Everything was running beautifully before i upgraded (so why did i upgrade?. Christmas present. ). Anyway, i have lost my nvidia card and my ability to run aero. My wei has dropped nearly two whole points because i can only get my onboard graphics chip to work. I have tried every driver known on nvidia and gateway forums/websites. I have now clean installed w7, back to w vista, then back to w7.

I have uninstalled and re-installed all drivers and the card itself. It is a nvidia geforce 7600 gs. I cannot find the manufacturer of the card because gateway will not support me any longer (they sold the division handling my computer configuration to mpc who went bankrupt). Everything else is working very well. Much better than vista, in fact. Except this.

Is there anyone on here who can help? Please ask if i have performed a task before telling me to do so. Most likely i have already tried it and i can just tell you what the results were. I am really looking for someone who has specific knowledge of this exact issue and how to get the card to show up in the device manager.

Nvidia Driver Update For Graphics Card

Today i had something weird happen to my windows 7 pro system. I went and updated my nvidia drivers to the new ones that came out today. I removed the old ones and installed new ones. When i went to restart after the start screen came up i got a message telling me that my windows 7 did not pass the genuine advantage. I had to download an activation fix from microsoft. I didn't have to re-enter my product key. Now this was only an update to my graphics card. What gives?. Why did this happen. Even ms security essentials gave me a warning until i applied the activation update.

Agp Nvidia Graphics Card Aero Support

Will an agp based nvidia graphics card support aero in windows 7? Ineveruseda graphics card before, but since il be using windows 7 ultimate from now on, wanted to know whether an graphics card which works with the agp port and run aero in windows 7. It supports vista completely and i hope the same is with windows 7.

Because my system does not have a pci-e based slot i am willing to buy an agp one. I am keeping my fingers crossed whether it will work windows windows 7 or not. Is it compulsory that the graphics card support directx 11? Mine supports only till 10 i guess.

Nvidia Geforce Gt 325m Graphics Card Problem

I have the asus-n61jv notebook with nvidia geforce gt 325m grpahics card on windows 7 32 bit. I downloaded the version 197. 16 driver from nvidia. By default my notebook detects the driver as standard vga graphics adapter. The chip type is detected as "intel(r)ironlake mobile graphics chipset". Now when i follow the manual driver installation the message i am receiving is "installing this device is not recommended because windows cannot verify that iy is compatible with your hardware. "

I have ignored the message and the nvidia geforce gt 325m is installed.

But when i go to

Control panel-> display-> change display settings and then click on the advanced settings link a window opened with the title "(default monitor) and properties". There is an adapter tab in there which i assume should list the details of the graphics card.

Here it is showing nothing i.e

Chip type: "unavailable"

Total available graphics memory: "unavailable" etc. One interesting point is even though the driver installation was successful when i shut down the computer and start it again it showed the message that "standard vga graphics adapter" is installed successfully and it replace the nvidia driver.

So i updated the driver files once again and the nvidia came back. On a test basis when i shut down the computer and start it again the "standard vga graphics adapter" took over once again. In device manager i can see two display adapters are listed:

1. Standard vga graphics adapter

2.nvidia geforce gt 325m

As fyi: i ran the wei but it reported an error and couldn't complete it. Any idea why is this happening?

Nvidia Gtx 280 Graphics Problem

Running w7 ultimate 32 bit. My graphics card is a nvidia gtx280. Problem- when i run a game or even spider solitaire, the screen gets covered in a pattern and pixelated (at one point it was shutting my screen down to power saver mode). Will use this game as an example - rainbow 6 las vegas - i have downloaded all latest patches and also drivers 196. 21 and beta driver 196. 34. I booted in safe mode and removed driver, then did a clean with driver sweeper and installed new driver as above. All worked well until i turned machine off. On next startup all was the same again so went through the process with beta driver - same result again.

I checked the driver in device manager and what seems to happen is that win 7 uploads its own signed driver everytime as follows

Driver files
C:windowssystem32drivers
Vlddmkm.dll
C:windowssystem32
Vd3dum.dll
C:windowssystem32
Vwgf2um.dll

Version wddmv1. 1
File version 8. 15. 11. 8593
Driver date 14. 05. 2009

Now this is an old driver but keeps reinstalling itself no matter what i do. How do i get 7 to accept the new driver? The funny thing is it affects spider solitaire but not frecell on the freebie windows games - go figure. I am totally at a loss and fed up rebooting my machine with what is obviously a windows problem and no support there now as i'm told to contact my comp manufacturer. Sorry but he is miles away from me since i moved.

Nvidia Graphics Driver Stops Working

My action center is consistently telling me to address a problem with nvidia graphics driver. It has stopped working multiple times. Usually it recovers, but it has occasionally forced a shut down, and once or twice i've gotten a blue screen. I've tried to "address" the problem through the action center, and it always tells me the solution can't be downloaded and i should check to make sure my computer is connected to the internet. It's always connected. I've downloaded other solutions but this one always returns the same problem.

I've got an hp 87340w with a docking station and extra monitor - so it is set up for a dual display when on the docking station. I think the problem most often occurs when resuming from a period of inactivity - so the display turns off to save power. I've also gotten it when switching from laptop to dual display (that is, when i put the laptop back on the docking station). I used to get problems when the video was running, so i always make sure i'm not using video when i switch.

I've reinstalled the graphics driver, and even reinstalled windows. I'm not really sure what to do since i don't even know what the problem is and windows gives me no options after it fails to download the solution.

Problem With Nvidia Graphics Driver - Solution Could Not Be Downloaded

I click on solve pc issues (the flag) and it says address a problem with nvidia graphics driver. I click it and it says "this solution could not be downloaded".

Most likely causes: your computer was unable to download the solution at this time. Check to make sure your computer is connected to the internet, and then try to download the solution again later.

I am connected to the internet, and windows update works, web browsing works etc. Why isn't it downloading the solution?

Nvidia Graphic Card Problem

I just upgraded from windows vista home premium 64 bit to to windows 7 home premium - now at random times the computer goes blank for a few seconds (blank screen) and restarts - i am getting the error code "display device driver has stopped working and has recovered. Display device driver nvidia windows kernal mode driver version 186. 44 stopped responding and has successfully restarted. "  I spoke to a windows tech who downloaded the latest nvidia version 186. 81 - this did not help - if anything the problem is worse.

Video Card (nvidia) Problem

A friend's system runs dual-boot (xp and win7).initially with on-board video chip but this was very slow in graphics, so a video card (nvidia geforce 8000 series) was bought. Under win7 the system hangs after some time (even if not being used), but not under xp. So, back to the shop, replaced the video-card with a geforce gt220. Same problem: system hang after some time, but no problems under xp. We have replaced the driver with newer and older versions, but no difference.

Bsod When Installing Nvidia Card Drivers

Important info:
Graphics card: geforce 7950 gx2
Ram: 2 gigabytes
Hdd: 400 gigabyte sata drive
Processor: amd athlon 64 fx-62 (dual core, 2. 8 ghz)

I have a shuttle pc, and am running the latest bios, not sure the version number, but i just flashed it several days ago when still on xp.

Okay, here goes. I just installed a clean copy of windows 7 x64 pro over windows xp. It was a major pain, i kept getting a blue screen error when setup was 'completing'. It was a stop error for file nvlddmkm.sys, which after some research, i believe it to be a nvidia file. I could not get win7 to install.

Finally, after hours of research, i finally got it to work by deleting the nvlddmkm.sys files during the 'expanding windows files' step. This was done via command prompt (shift f10). I believe i found the steps for this process here.

Continuing, i'm finally booted into windows, and i'm assuming that i am running the basic windows vga drivers. I ran windows update and attempted to install the drivers for my 7950 gx2, reboot, 'windows is starting', bsod. Boot into safe mode, uninstall drivers, install drivers from nvidia, reboot, bsod.

It seems that no matter what set of drivers i install, after i reboot, the computer will say 'starting windows' and then will get the bsod. The code is 116, and the associated file is nvlddmkm.sys.

I know that during the install process that i deleted the nvlddmkm.sys file from two locations. I believe one was in the system32 folder, can't remember the other location. Currently, this file is not located in the drivers folder (c:windowssystem32drivers).

Can you guys please help me in getting my graphics card drivers installed?  No matter what i do, i get a bsod after a reboot and before windows loads. I have tried several versions of the driver but to no avail. I believe i might need to copy the nvlddmkm.sys file to somewhere. I do have a nvlddmkm. Sy_ file that is packaged with all the drivers, but i believe it needs to be expanded?

Nvidia 7950 Gt Video Card Drivers Issue

I'm trying to install video card drivers on windows 7. When i first installed windows 7 and installed nvidia drivers everything was working fine for about a week. Now i can not get windows 7 to boot with video drivers installed and display my desktop. As soon as it gets passed the windows 7 boot logo my flat panel says no signal and turns off.

I boot into safe mode and uninstall the nvidia drivers and windows will boot just fine, but i have no video drivers installed. When i go into safe mode with that problem and i have windows troubleshoot it, it says that my video card drivers are up to date, but does not support wddm.

I have tried almost everything i can think of different brands of drivers and i don't know how many different versions but they all end up with the same problem. I'm running the nvidia 7950 gt video card with a asus p5b motherboard with the latest video card drivers on windows 7 operating system.

There are problems with some pnp devices. Windows will take additional steps to further troubleshoot these devices. It has bsod once today which i think is due to a problem with the card. Here is a mini-dump from the crash but it may have been corrupted.

Geforce Gt 240 Graphics Card Help

I recently had to build a new system with some components from my old dell which had a bad mother board. When i transfered the remaining components to the new motherboard/case, i was unable to boot my vista. I finally broke down and bought windows 7. It loaded fine and now the system seems to be running fine with one exception. When i load the drivers for my pny geforce gt 240 graphics card, i lose video when windows starts. As soon as the green scrolling bar disappears is when this happens.

I hear the windows sound so i know windows is loading properly, but no video! I ensure the onboard graphics card is disabled on the mother board. I have tried several installations of nvidia drivers but to no avail. This error occurs everytime i load the nvidia drivers. I roll them back in safe mode after the video doesn't work each time. I keep checking to make sure the onboard video remains disabled. Any suggestions?

My system:

Amd athlon 64 x2 3800+ cpu
Biostar ta 790 gxb a2+ mother board
4gb ram
Pny geforce gt 240 graphics card
750 watt power supply
Windows 7 64 bit

Unable To Install A Second Graphics Card

I decided to treat myself and give my computer an upgrade to 3d-readiness which in my mind also meant increasing my number of screens to 3 as well. I already had 2 screens, a 24" hp and a 19" lg, running off an nvidia gtx 295 and i was hoping to simply add a second independent card to run my new 3d monitor (alienware optx aw2310). This is where i've hit problems though, my second card is a nvidia gtx 480 however when i try to boot my pc with both cards it either gets stuck on the windows logo or moves onto a black screen with a move able cursor and then stays on that. I'm currently running windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

I've tried both cards separately and they both work, it's simply when both are connected that it refuses to boot up. My motherboard is the asus rampage ii extreme so has 3 dvi-e slots and the layout i'm trying to use is: gtx 480 -> gtx 295 -> sound card. I'm not trying to use the cards in sli however i'm not sure if the motherboard has a switch that needs to be turned on for more than 1 card regardless of if it's in sli or not.

I'm not sure if there's something that needs to be done with the bios settings either?

Winfast Px6600 Graphics Card

I recently installed a legal version of windows 7 pro on my desktop. It is almost impossible to do anything with out the driver (which is win 7 certified) to function. The screen will black out, come back on, black out, come back on, etc until it finally brings me back to my desktop with a warning message in the bottom right hand corner telling me that the "driver quit responding and has successfully recovered. "

I have installed and removed numerous versions of nvidia drivers and winfast nvidia. By the way, the card is nvidia based. Basically no matter which driver version i install, it continues to give me the same errors. And, when i would remove a driver, i did it through the device manager.

My desktop:
Intel pentium d at 2. 80 ghz
2gb's of ram
Winfast px6600 gt tdh pci express graphics card

Geforce 9800 Gt Graphics Card Compatibility

I am wanting to upgrade from xp to windows 7. However windows upgrade advisor tells me that my current "graphics adaptor " will not support windows aero. I am trying to work out whether this is likely to be a graphics card issue or a monitor issue. I suspect the latter.

However, when i scrolled through the 112 pages that microsoft has published showing which graphics cards are compatible with windows 7, mine does not appear on the list. I suspect this is an oversight by microsoft but i'd like to be sure. My graphics card is a bfg ge force 9800gt, i gb , oc. The bfg part number is bfgr981024gtoce. I'd appreciate any advice on this graphic card's compatibility with windows 7.

Current rig:
Windows xp
Core duo e 8500
2 gb ram ddr2
160gb hard drive

Geforce 8700m Graphics Card Not Recognized

I've seen the question posed already but no answers thus far. Here's my problem: i just put windows 7 on my alienware m15x which has a geforce 8700 graphics card in it. Well, i noticed my windows score was a 1. 0 and it said so in the gaming area so i checked the card. It isn't being recognized. I go to the nvidia site, downloaded the driver for my card designed for windows 7, restart and it blue-screens on me.

I don't really know what else to do. Obviously the drivers aren't installed but they can't be if it continues to blue screen.

Nvidia 6150se Nforce 430 Video Card Driver Issue

I have a hp pavilion desktop a6123w. It originally came with vista home premium. I purchased and updated to win-7 home premium. I keep having problems with high cpu usage and the video card driver can't be updated. I have a nvidia 6150se nforce 430. I've tried going to hps site to get drivers but they won't offer anything for win-7. When i emailed them they said since i purchased my on upgrade to win-7 instead of buying the upgrade from them that i was on my on. I tried going to nvidias site and have tried several of there driver downloads and they keep saying not compatible.

I think i understand that the video card is built into the motherboard of this pc. I have tried getting updated bios for the board or chipset and have had the same negative results. I have re installed win-7 several times. Each time i have to go through a nightmare of problems with my printer scanner fax software. Have also had issues with media player after re installs. I installed the same win-7 on my toshiba laptop and the only function i lost was the built in webcam.

I've tried fixit but no real help. Windows update has not helped with the driver. Device manager says "can not initialize the device for this hardware(code 37)". It says the device is not using any resources because it has a problem. I am totally confused as to what to try next. Windows defender and security essentials scans do not show any problems with viruses or malware.

It seems as though when i reinstall win-7 everything works better for a short time and then the problems slowly start increasing. I originally had norton symantec 360, but didn't reinstall it after the second re install of win-7. I would appreciate any advice that you may be able to give me. I think that i may be able to install a plug in video card and need to know what steps to take to do that as far as conflicts with the mother board and drivers.
