How To Log Certificate Access Attempts?

I am getting an error from outlook 2003 and getting the error message, "the server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could not be verified. " I know what the problem is, i need to enable the right certificate, but there's no information as to what certificate it is having a problem with. I need to know the name of the certificate or the certificate authority or whatever.

I actually see that in internet explorer too. Sometimes i might have a problem with a certificate, but it gives no details as to which one. Is there a way to log which certificates windows is trying to access or for the moment at least which one outlook is trying to access?

Bootup Requires Two Attempts

The initial attempt to boot up win7 results in a bios loop. Shutting down and starting up again immediately provides a normal bootup. Once booted up, going into hibernate mode at the next shutdown permits a temporary workaround and a normal startup if done within a few hours of shutdown. By the next morning, even if i went to hibernate mode at the previous evening's shutdown, bootup once again requires two startup attempts. I could live with the problem if there were some way i could extend the effective hibernate period to, say, 18 hours. Any ideas?

Ie Certificate Error

I have a web server setup with a certificate and all works well accessing externally. When i try to access the server internally using the server name i get the warning:

The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different websites address.

The external url is different than the ad name of the machine. It's been awhile but i thought that adding the site to the trusted sites list in ie would take care of this but it does not. I don't have this problem with firefox after telling it create an exception.

Accessing externally : https://sub. Domainname.com/fl

Accessing internally https://machinename/fl

Server You Are Connected To Is Using A Security Certificate

The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified. The target principal name is incorrect. Do you want to continue using this server? Brand new computer running windows 7 64-bit, outlook and office 2007 installed, initial problems with temporary user profiles, followed advice and removed user profiles from system registry and all seemed to be fine.

Computer been running for about one week with two user profiles and now i am suddenly getting an error message when i start up outlook and occasionally when browsing the internet, it reads:
The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified. The target principal name is incorrect. Do you want to continue using this server? (If i hit yes i can then send emails).

When i open view certificate it says: this ca root certificate is not trusted. To enable trust, install this certificate in the trusted root certification authorities store. (Issued to and by: cisco appliance demo certificate - valid from 2/10/2009 to 3/10/2019). Problem is i don't know what the certificate is, what i need it for, how to locate it, how to move it etc i have read some forums but they start getting too technical. I need easy step by step help.

I tried uninstalling outlook 2007 and reloading and clearing ssl states in internet options and reseting to default(as suggested by someone) but it made no difference. Problem is when you leave the store with new computer nobody wants to know you if you need help! Can anybody please help?

Root Certificate Update Not Working

At some point my computer (windows 7 enterprise, joined to domain) lost the oids of ev certificates. The problem got fixed with custom import of certificates in the local trusted root certification authorities store. After digging into the problem, it turned out that upon unknown certificate met on the web windows does not activate the root certificate update functionality - no certificate call is made (no events from capi2 in the event viewer) and as a result microsoft trusted certificates are not added automatically to the system.

My question is - which group policy setting to tweak, so that the root certificate auto-update works? I have checked the resultant set of policy snap-in and i see no custom setting for internet communications settings -> turn off automatic root certificates update. In gpedit it is set to not configured. But the local user has active computer configuration -> windows settings -> public key policies domain imposed settings applied. Which of these might be the problem?

Is it something in certificate path validation setting? I have readhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731638.aspx but it is still not very clear. In the certificate path validation i have the following:stores tab - all recommended are checked, except for root certificate stores where only enterprise root cas.network retrieval - all options are on it is worth noting that once added in the local machine, and trusted root certificate works just fine.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749331(ws. 10).aspx was not of much use, too.

Cannot Log On

We have a family computer with 4 users, 2 of which are administrators (parents). My son cannot log onto the internet from his desktop page. Earlier today a message popped up saying that the computer was infected and a anti virus suite message popped up and wanted to know if we wanted to buy this program. Have no idea how it got on here or where it came from. I have run an anti malware and anti spiware scan on all the drives on the computer and the anti virus suite message doesn't pop up, but he still cannot log onto the internet from his page.

No Log In Or Submit Button

When i want to log in to my email there isn't any log in button. I have to search all over to find where it is by clicking the mouse all over. The same happens on some games, or when i want to order something or doing surveys. It will say click submit and there isn't any button to click. In other words, those buttons or whatever you call them, have disappeared.

Unable To Log On To Win7

I am running windows 7 ultimate. I've been running on this for a few months. This morning, i went to log on and got an error invalid log on or password. I tried again, thinking i typed it wrong. Still didn't work. I rebooted in safe mode and was able to successfully log on.

I've created another account that doesn't have a password, and even logging into it i get the error invalid log on or password. I also did a system restore to 3 days ago, this didn't help either. I would simply back up my data while in safe mode and reinstall this laptop, except i have a program installed that i do not have the media for any longer. This is a program i need to do everything i possibly can to avoid loosing.

Black Screen On Log In

I have tried everything i can think of and nothing works. I looked up this problem and got nothing. So what happens is that most of the time when i restart my computer in anything but safemode i get a black screen with nothing on it but the mouse can move around. I first thought that this was a simple error and that i would use the task manager to manually open explorer.exe. Low and behold it freezes on me for about 3 minutes and then it says that i cant open the ctrl + alt + delete menu. So i restart my computer again and this time everything loads normally but now explorer.exe isn't responding correctly.

I can click on anything and everything has that white "program is not responding" color to it. Affter this i'm thinking i must have installed something that is messing with the explorer so i log into the computer running safe mode and everything works, so i thought it confirmed my theory and i did a system restore to the week before this started happening just to be on the safe side. I restarted my computer again and nothing is any different. It's been like this for a few days now what should i do?

How To Log On As Administrator Permanently?

How do i log on as administrator permanently? I have just gotten a computer with windows 7. I had a problem with a shareware program: the software key wouldn't "take" until i ran the program as administrator. I think it was happening because entering the registration code writes to the registry, and if would only be effective for that session; i.e. , It went back to trial mode with a restart.

Anyway, i am the only user on this computer; the account type is "administrator. " Does this really mean anything? Why do i still have to "log on as administrator"? Can i make this permanent?

Windows Cannot Log You On Because Your Profile Cannot Be Loaded

Powered down my windows 7 professional system and booted up a windows xp drive. Replaced the windows 7 drive back in and came up with this error.

Attached are other event viewer error logs in application section.

Source: user profile service
Event id: 1500
Details: windows cannot log you on because your profile cannot be loaded. Check that you are connected to the network, and that your network is functioning correctly.
Detail - access is denied.

I have had minimal experiance with windows vista as microsoft support kb says to just delete the user profile however i see that as a very weak answer too a problem. Especially for a custom user profile. Any help / advice into this without having to reload the os would be great.

Cannot Log On To New Created User Account

I created a new standard user account via control panel/user accounts/manage accounts. When i log out of the admin account and try to log on to the newly created account i get error message "the user profile service service failed the logon" "user profile cannot be loaded". Click ok and it logs off. I can still log on to all other 5 accounts which i created after i set up this new laptop (pre-installed with windows 7). When you click on a new account the first time, the system should set up the desktop and create the user folders.

I went back into admin account and checked application event log. Event id 1509 "windows cannot copy file c:usersdefault to location c:usersnew test account. This error may be caused by network problems of insufficient security rights. "  Detail - access is denied.

Cannot Log Into Xp Mode With Integration Turned On

I am using windows 7 enterprise and have downloaded and installed windows virtual pc and xp mode. I used the standard username of xpmuser and a password. Successfully linked to my company shared drives and installed the applications that need to run in xp mode. Fter a reboot of the main pc i can no longer log into xp mode with the hard drive integration turned on. With integration turned on, when i type in the xpmuser password i get a message "the local policy of this system does not allow you to logon interactively". I'm actually logging in twice. As the virtual machine starts, i enter the xpmuser name and password at a 'security' screen, then the xp session starts, and i get the error message above. Since the vm isn't part of a 'real' domain, i can't use my windows logon id, i am using the xmpuser name and password. I've removed and reinstalled virtual pc and xp mode and get back to this same problem. I get everything installed, but when the hardware is rebooted, i can no longer log in to xp mode.

Outlook Xp Problem With Log Into Email Account

When i added my email account to outlook xp under windows 7 i told it to save my password. When i clicked 'test settings' all of the tests completed.

Every time i run outlook xp it requests my password now! It does not ask for a profile. It says: pop. Telus.net, and the 'password' field is empty. When i type in my password it says the server rejected mylog in! If i go to my email account settings the password is in the appropriate field. If i click on 'test settings' all tests pass!

I went into notepad. I typed my password. I selected and copied my password. I went to my email account with internet explorer. I pasted my password into the appropriate field. I clicked 'log in. ' i was successful in logging in. I logged out.

I invoked outlook. It requested my password for: pop. Telus.net. I pasted my password into the appropriate field. I clicked: log in. Outlook told me that my email server had rejected my log in! I logged into my email account. I did not logout. I once again invoked outlook. This time i was not asked for my password. I clicked: send/receive all of my emails were received!

I called my email provider. I asked if he had any idea why outlook was not working. He said he had no idea. This never happened under windows xp. Does anyone know why outlook xp is unable to log into my email account under windows 7? Programmer for visual c+ 6. 0, and microsoft office including access.

Task Manager Can't Log Off User

I have windows 7 home premium with three accounts on it. Frequently someone else uses one of two the standard account on it and locks it down, i come along and log in with my administrators and log in and try to kill off their session. When i run task manager, highlight the standard account and then click logoff i get an error message user amy (sessionid=1) could not be logged off. Access is denied.

I've tried running task-manager from the system32 folder as administrator (even though my account is administrator) but i still get the same message. The amy (the standard user account) at this point shows in task manager as disconnected. How can i log of the other two users without re-booting please?

Can Log Into Admin Account But Not In Limited User

I shut my computer down two weeks ago before i left on a week long work trip. When i returned windows starts up normally except that i couldn't log in to any account. It would just hang at the screen with the spinning circle. I eventually was able to log in in safe mode, and used the fix from prevx.com and now i can log onto my admin account but not my limited account. Also even in my admin account only starcraft 2 works. Every other program i have installed takes ten minutes or more to start up, if they do, and most freeze the first time i click on any menu. For example i tried clicking save as on an open office document and it was hanging for over two hours. Internet explorer, firefox, and chrome don't load at all, while open office and msoffice both load and freeze.

I am getting an error "access is denied" when trying to access a shared drive on windows 7 machine that is not the specified "public" folder. How do i fix this?. I have done a fair bit of googling to no avail!

I have also made all he necessary network and sharing settings to allow connections. Other computers can access the "public" folder. But not the other shares that i set up. Although the other computer/s can 'see' them when viewing workgroup computers. Nb. All machines are on the same workgroup name.

Access Denied - Cannot Access The Outlook.ost File

We have installed windows 7 on a new machine. The user is a domain administrator and has full rights. When we try to open outlook, it says that it cannot access the outlook. Ost file and then freezes. We have moved the uac slider all the way to don't notify, granted explicit ownership to the c: users folder, given machine specific administrator rights to the user and the problem still persists.

When we log in as the hidden administrator though, everything works just fine for the same users exchange login. The user cannot even delete files on the network that belong to the user! Everything works fine when he logs in from another machine running xp. What are we missing here?

Game Access

I have been playing internet games since purchasing this computer in december 2008. Recently, when i try to play games, i receive an error message:

" Access to this game is blocked, possibly due to windows parental control settings, or to file security settings. If you need access to the game, check your file security settings, or ask permission from the person who set up the windows parental controls for this game. "

We have not changed any of the file security settings nor do we have any parental controls set up on the computer.

I am the administrator and do not know why this has suddenly stopped working. I also tried restoring the computer to a previous date in the event that something had changed, but that didn't help either.

Remote Access

Hi, my wife recently purchased a new dell computer with windows 7, we use it for personal and professional use. The problem we are having is. We remote access into our office using a global vpnclient with sonicwall. When her laptop computer is directly connected to the server at home via an ethernet cable she can connect to the office with no problem. However when attempting to connect with our wireless internet through the wireless router she is unable to make the connection to the office. She has full use of the internet and everything else while using the wireless connection just no ability to connect to the office.

The vpn client says she is connected to the office network but when connecting directly to one of the computers via the wireless route, it is unable to make the remote desktop connection, while the hard connection with the ethernet cable has no problem whatsoever. We have quest for our home internet, i misspoke when i said server at home it is directly connected to the modem. We are using a:cisco-linksys wrt54g2 wireless-g broadband router wireless router. To the best of my knowledge there is no difference in special ports that are open between wire and wireless. Where should i check for a difference?

No Internet Access

I am having problems connecting to the internet via wifi with windows 7. The connection works with my desktop and apple laptop, but my new windows 7 laptop cannot connect regularly. I can connect to the local network, but it cannot then connect to the internet. I have restarted my computer multiple time, restarted my modem multiple time, restarted my router multiple times, used windows problem solver to check for the issue and it hasn't come up with anything. What should i do.

This is really annoying, especially since windows has advertised how easy it is to connect to wifi, yet that is not the case.

Internet Access

I'm yet again having problems connecting to the clients internet at work on various sites i work on, i 've manually set up the connection and when i try connecting wirelessly it finds the router but it wont acquire the network address

I can connect by hardwiring but i cannot view web pages, i've been in contact with their it support who had me look at a few things and that the ip address was different to what it should be and that he couldn't do any more without taking the laptop to him

I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem could be, he seemed to lose interest with trying to fix it through constant emails

I have a windows 7 laptop which i can;t connect and a xp laptop that i used to be able to connect but i formatted it and now i'm having the same problem as the windows 7, i can connect both laptops to my home network without any problems whatsoever
