Install Error 2329 And Saving Downloaded Files

Increasingly i have noticed repeated errors concerning file access on windows 7. While uninstalling a program, i will get the 2329 error halfway through, and also errors while trying to save downloaded files (i assume something to do with 0 length files), messages informing me that the file cannot be saved.

I believe that these two errors are connected, and are caused by the slow response of the os and anti-virus software, keeping handles to files open longer than is required, leading to these errors.

 Any thoughts?

Then pc saves broken file and then i save again and replace that broken file then it's okay. I'm doing work with pictures, like "save picture as" and thats very annoying (error with every picture) to save file twice. I'm computer's administrator and only user. I don't know what's the problem so i turned here to get help.

A2c Files Downloaded As Zip Files

If you go to alice.org and try to download one of their image files, ie8 changes the extension from a2c to zip making the file unusable unless the user manually changes the file extension.

http://alice.org/index.php?Page=gallery/amusement park/index

In our school network users are not allowed to change the file extension so that does not work. I found that the user when downloading has to change the file type to all files and change the file extension then. This is a bother to have to remember. When i tried with a different browser (chrome) the a2c file was recognized correctly. The computers in my school are laptops running windows xp. At home my desktop runs windows 7 and the problem is there as well. There was no problem with ie7.

Downloaded Files Are Vanishing

I am helping my cousin with her machine, and this one has me a bit baffled. She is running ie8 on a vista machine. Whenever a download occurs, whether you choose "run" for an executable, "save" for any file, or "open" for any file, the file completes the download, but it never arrives at its destination. Saved files are never in the destination folder, opened files never open in their respective programs, and run executables never start. Searches for the files by name come up with nothing.

I have tested two things. First, files that can be opened within plugins, such as a pdf, open just fine as long as they are opened within ie. If a pdf is downloaded to the hdd with the expectation that it will open upon completion using adobe as a separate program, the download finishes, and nothing happens. The file is nowhere to be found.

As a baseline, i wanted to know if another browser would work. I got chrome onto the machine, and i do not have this issue, but my cousin would rather have ie back. Any suggestions?

.kmz Files Downloaded As Compressed Folders

I've been messing around with . Kmz files. If i double click on the kmz file on my local hard drive, it opens in google earth as i'd expect and right click->open with only has google earth in the options. So on my local hard drive, . Kmz files are working great. However, if i click on a link like this http://caiels.com/local/ivybridge. Kmz. I get a dialogue showing a file name of ivybridge.zip and it tries to open in 'compressed folders'.

Also if i link from http://maps.google.com/?Q=http://caiels.com/local/ivybridge. Kmz and click the 'view in google earth' option, it downloads as a zip file. So i hope i'm asking this question in the correct place. Why does explorer work fine with kmz, yet internet explorer treats them as a zip file? And is there anything i can put in the link to force it to download as . Kmz and therefore open in google earth?

Saving Offline Files To A Seperate Partition

When i installed win7 on my vaio i created a separate partition for my data (d:) & reserved the smaller (40gb) c: partition for system files. When i activate offline files, it quickly fills the c partition as it is storing these offline files in the csc folder.

I followed all the advice i received in the folowing thread:

http://social. Answers.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7files/thread/6af0cf60-84f6-4e48-b0a1-2780a5fd7b7a
Without success. Apparently i'm not the only one having this probem. It still tells me that 'access is denied' when trying to delete csc folder.

Problem Saving Jpeg Files From Internet

I have been trying to save jpeg file (census image from ancestry.com) and it tells me it is saved on my desktop as i want. When i go to the desktop it isn't there, search facility doesn't find it. I go back to the image and try to save again and it tells me it is already on the desktop. I tried setting up a folder to save to but had the same problem, image says it is saved but it doesn't show and can't be found by search.

I can save images as an adobe and have no problems but i don't get the option to choose how it is saved, it is just as jpeg.

Problem Saving / Opening Files In Explorer & Programs

I have problem saving and opening files in windows explorer and third-party programs. I've been having this problem for a couple of months now and it's very annoying for example, when i use the snipping tool in windows 7 the files will not save so i have to take a print screen of that and open it with more software. Also, when i download files in firefox and other things, clicking 'open file location' does absolutely nothing. I assume these two issues are related as they started occurring around the same time.

After Win7 Install Should I Install Programs Then Backed Up Files ?

After windows 7 complete install. Should i install the programs then the backed up files or the backed up files then the programs. Windows 7 complete install. Should i install the programs then the backed up  files or the backed up files then the programs. I saw where microsoft recommended installing the backed up files first then the programs so the programs know where the files are located.

I would think installing the programs first would be better to minimize defragmentation. Os then programs, then files.

Install 32-bit Apps To Program-files Rather Than Program Files (x86)

On 64-bit win7, is it wrong to install 32-bit apps to (drive letter):program files rather than program files (x86)? If wrong should installer prevent this? If installer allows it, what app behavior is appropriate?

Background: winzip 14. 0 (a win7 compatible 32-bit app) won't run if installed to c:program files. If installed to any other alternate path or folder name it runs ok. By convention starting with vista, c:program files (x86) is for 32 bit apps and c:program files for 64-bit apps. But installers allow overriding the install path and folder name. e.g, maybe i want 32 bit apps in c:program files and 64 bit apps in c:program files (x64).

If c:program files is a restricted location for 32 bit apps, should not the installer and/or os enforce this, rather than allow installation then break the app? What is the correct practice for both users installing apps and developers porting apps to win7?

Problem With Nvidia Graphics Driver - Solution Could Not Be Downloaded

I click on solve pc issues (the flag) and it says address a problem with nvidia graphics driver. I click it and it says "this solution could not be downloaded".

Most likely causes: your computer was unable to download the solution at this time. Check to make sure your computer is connected to the internet, and then try to download the solution again later.

I am connected to the internet, and windows update works, web browsing works etc. Why isn't it downloading the solution?

Trying to install xp mode and virtual pc, i set the bios and did everything to the letter, twice. It's in my program list but it keeps telling me "the setup file must be downloaded and installed before this feature will work". I have a new hp pavilion dv7 64 bit that came with vista. Twice i've downloaded 500megs and installed the new xp mode and virtual pc, i set the bios and did everything to the letter, twice. It's in my program list but it keeps telling me "the setup file must be downloaded and installed before this feature will work".

Custom Install - Program-files And Program Files X86

Custom install from windows vista hp 32 bit to windows 7 hp 64 bit leave 2 program files - "program files" and "program files (x86). Mostly same files in either folder. If x86 is needed, i don't mind but why duplicate entries with items like windows mail. I tried to to delete program files x86 without any success, and i would like to delete system-32 files in the windows folder plus any other 32 bit related items, if possible.

I do not want a system with duplicate and redundant files. Because two items that i downloaded and installed appear in both program files, i'm suspending any further actions on the installation until i'm fortunate enough to receive some help and/or advice from this forum.

Win 7 Install Pc Freezes Up At Expanding Files

Windows 7 clean install may require special drivers either for the amd athlon 64 processor, for the wd sata hard drive, or the via gigabyte motherboard. My experience: i booted up factory legitimate dvd of windows 7 install disk and partitioned/formatted hard drive, installed sata driver (the same floppy with the drivers for the sata drive that i used with my previous windows xp installations), and proceeded with installation.

The install showed that it copied the files with no problem. Then at "expand files" the installation freezes at 18% expanded. I have experimented with the bios by selected raid or ide as the setting for the sata drive, but it doesn't work with either setting. The hard drive is an empty 80 gb western digital hard drive. I guess i need either a driver for the motherboard, the processor, or the hard drive.

Could Custom Program Files Location Be Specified Before Install ?

Could a custom "program files" location be specified before windows vista is install on a computer?

I'm a fan of running the windows operating system on low capacity high speed disks and off loading my programs and documents/data to other disks. This is a simple enough operation for the documents/data but there aren't a lot of options for the program files.

A popular windows "tweak" idea that gets close to what i want to do (if it actually worked) is tweaking the default program files location stored in registry so, as new programs are installed the default location given reflects the custom location specified.

The problem with this is the program file location values in registry do more then provide a default location for installing software. The programs that vista installs on the "c drive" during a normal installation need these keys unchanged if they're to be referred to correctly later on. So like many keys in the windows registry, they provide an answer to multiple versions of an inquiry and changing the answer tends to have further reaching effects then one might think.

So, as for solving this problem around separating programs from os, i see only two possible choices (neither of which i know how to pull off currently):

1. Make the change to the default program location before windows vista is installed (with a custom install disk or the like) so my custom program location is address from the get go, making every thing (windows programs included) install accordingly and insuring that there aren't multiple program locations to be confused over.

2. Some how, do some crafty registry work that would operate as follows: if a program asks for a default location to install a program, provide the custom location i specified, leaving the "programfilespath" and "programfilesdir" keys unaffected for the sake of the windows programs that by default exist on the c drive.

Saving A Theme

At time i want to change properties of an existing thme and overwrite the original. Well, when i click "save theme" and type in the same name as an existing theme i end up with 2 themes with the same name. I would assume windows would ask me if i wanted to replace the other theme. I am then forced to delete the original hoping i'm deleting the proper one. Is this normal? What are some guidelines as to saving themes? I change elements of themes frequently. I don't want to save different themes and end up have hundreds of themes on my system.

Saving An Image..?

I have a problem on saving images from a webpage. Yes, i did right-click on an image and click "save image as. " And a window popped out asking where should i save the picture. But every time i save it on my picture folder, it says "there are no more files. " I tried to save it on my music folder and the same thing happened. So i decided to save it on my desktop, but then a small window popped out and said "the file is not valid. "
I used to think that my picture folder didn't have enough space, but it didn't make sense, because when i copied pictures from my friend's pendrive to my picture folder, it worked. And i also thought that it's the web program that has problems (i was using firefox) but that seemed impossible, too, because this problem also occurred when i used internet explorer.
This had never happened before. This problem just recently occurred about a few days ago.
Help me please!

Ie Problem With File Saving

When i am on the internet, specifically ancestry.com and other such sites, i try to save files to my computer. I try to have them saved to my desktop or documents folder, but they keep getting saved to some temporary folder that i can never find! It is so irritating! When i try to do a search in the start menu, my files never show up, nor does the temporary internet file folder, which i have looked for in all the places they say to look.

What can i do so my computer stops trying to "protect" me by hiding my files? And where do i go to find the ones that are already there?
