Computer Goes To Log Off Screen After About 2 Minutes

On windows 7, computer goes to log off screen after about 2 minutes, no matter what program is running. Desktop shows for 2 minutes, the goes to log off. I updated windows vista home premium with windows 7. From the beginning the screen would go from plain old desktop to the log off screen  after 1 or 2 minutes.computer does not shut down; nor do i have to reboot, but i have to hit the log on button. Annoying.

Black Screen On Log In

I have tried everything i can think of and nothing works. I looked up this problem and got nothing. So what happens is that most of the time when i restart my computer in anything but safemode i get a black screen with nothing on it but the mouse can move around. I first thought that this was a simple error and that i would use the task manager to manually open explorer.exe. Low and behold it freezes on me for about 3 minutes and then it says that i cant open the ctrl + alt + delete menu. So i restart my computer again and this time everything loads normally but now explorer.exe isn't responding correctly.

I can click on anything and everything has that white "program is not responding" color to it. Affter this i'm thinking i must have installed something that is messing with the explorer so i log into the computer running safe mode and everything works, so i thought it confirmed my theory and i did a system restore to the week before this started happening just to be on the safe side. I restarted my computer again and nothing is any different. It's been like this for a few days now what should i do?

Computer Boots To Black Screen

"black" screen and then a restart! New computer 5/2010 - dell inspiron 580 intel core i5 -8 gig - hd 1 tb_dedicated video card  8ginew computer 5/2010 - dell inspiron 580 intel core i5 -8 gig - hd 1 tb. Dedicated video card windows 7 64 bit started off with black screen (never have had a blue screen) then would come back on again after a few seconds. Eventually it would not come on again and i would have to shut down the computer and restart it! This went on almost daily, until it became more and more often during each day and became a pain.

I called dell and they "flashed the mother board" that worked for a little while and then within a few days, it started again, and progressed to the point of screen going black and the computer restarting all by itself. There was no "one thing" i was doing at the time. Originally it did it most when i was stressing the video card, but after they flashed the mb, it happened whenever it felt like it whatever i was doing. One morning i came out to the computer and it was frozen and there was a message on ti saying it h ad not been shut down correctly!

That was false as i had restarted it before i went to bed and it was fine!I called del again and they are going to schedule a tech to come out here and pull out all the major parts, mb etc (not my hd) and see if that fixes it, since it is still under warranty. I was sharing this on a yahoo list i am on and someone told me they had happened to them and a work mate good with computers, had suggested they try a new mouse!

They did and the issue resolved itself and they had no further issues! I said thank you, i am willing to try anything. I switched the mouse with from my older computer to my new one and visa versa. That was one week or so ago! I have not had an issue since!I am really perplexed at this!  Has anyone ever heard of a mouse causing a black screen and a computer restart consistently? I have not called del back again, because i keep thinking that it will start again. Is is possible that his issue was a simple as that and if so, why would a mouse cause that?

Shut Down Computer From Login Screen

I have my windows 7 systems set up with user account passwords. I sometimes accidentally bump my keyboard and wake my computer up from sleep mode, taking it to the login screen where it waits for a password. How do you shut the computer off or put it back to sleep from the login screen? There isn't a button or anything. Does windows not let you shut the computer off until you log in? It's a completely unnecessary hassle to have to log in to put the computer back to sleep, not to mention if someone else in my family accidentally woke the computer up they wouldn't be able to put it back to sleep at all.

Computer Crashes - Screen Flashes Very Quickly

About every other time i boot my computer, i get a bluescreen, and the computer crashes. The screen flashes very quickly, but it says something about a corrupt driver. I'm running windows 7, and i have at&t internet security suite as my virus protection, etc. Is there a list of essential drivers needed for windows 7? I'm at a point where i may just go in and delete any drivers that aren't essential since the "check solution" area offers no assistance. The error i get under the problem detail is:

Suddenly Computer Stops With Blue Screen And Restarts

My system is win 7. I recently got this new notebook. I thought i was having problem with anti-virus but i recently came to know about this blue screen of death. Suddenly the computer stops in between anytime with the blue screen showing up and computer restarts. I recently uninstalled norton which was a free-version which i got with notebook and installed kaspersky. I ve now even removed kaspersky and installed bit-defender but problem is still occurring. No virus detected by both.

I ve even tried to restore the notebook to the day i bought this. But the problem is not fixed. The error message looks something like what appears in this link http://www.Gadgetlite.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/windows-7-bsod.jpg. I am worried that my new system may get hardware problems due to this.

Computer Randomly Crashes - Screen Will Go To Black Then White

I recently installed windows 7 on my laptop and it was working great until it started crashing.

At first it only crashed when i was using pretty demanding programs but now it sometimes just randomly crashes when using music players etc, and i lose all my work.

When it crashes i'll just be working then the screen will go to black then white then flash back to the original screen, and it will do something like that for about 5 seconds then it shuts down and restarts.

When it turns back on i get a message that simply says windows has has an unexpected shutdown then it likely gives me some options to choose or something. I don't remember exactly.

Usb Webcam Take 10 Minutes To Start

I have a 2 year old compal jfl92 laptop which i initially bought with windows vista and i recently upgraded it to windows 7. Everything works fine, except that the built-in webcam is not immediately available after turning the machine on or waking it from sleep - it takes somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes to show up. Prior to this, it is not visible in the "devices and printers" and the "usb composite device" which it calls itself in device manager is also missing. Once it does show up, it works without any problems.

I have tried uninstalling all usb controllers and rebooting to make windows reinstall the drivers for everything. If i do that, the webcam is there immediately, but on the next boot it again takes 10 minutes to show up. I have also tried installing the latest usb drivers from intel, but that didn't help either. The laptop has various other usb devices, both internal (e.g. Bluetooth) and external (a mouse) and none of them exhibits this behavior. Has anyone ever seen something like this before or know how to make it load with everything else rather than in 10 minutes?

Computer Display Shakes Nonstop - Hdmi Tv Screen Resolutions

We just bought a dell inspiron 560. When i hooked up our 26" sharp hdtv (we'd used it on our other computer, worked fine) the computer screen was too big for the tv, and the top and sides were cut off. I've tried every screen resolution/aspect ratio and tv display view option combination i could try. I've found one or two that fit nicely, but the computer display shakes nonstop. I've tried rebooting but it doesn't work. The only difference between this computer hookup and our old one is the hdmi port on the dell. We bought this computer because it had the hdmi port for the tv, but i can't make it work is there a reason why the screen resolutions that fit the tv nicely shake? The recommended screen resolution is 1280x720, but it's far too big vertically and horizontally.

Pc Is Taking Long Time (10 Minutes) To Shut Down

I am having trouble working out why my laptop sometimes takes up to 10 minutes to shut down. It is an acer 5920g with a core 2 duo (t7300) and 2gb ram. It is running windows 7 home premium to which i have upgraded from vista home premium (both 32 bit). It is on a small home network but the problem still happens on moving it to a different network. The delay seems to be longer if the laptop has been switched on for longer - i.e. If the laptop has only been on for a few minutes then it shuts down very quickly but if it has been on for a few hours then it can take 10 minutes to shut down. Event viewer does not seem to be much help as even creating a custome log of all information around the time of the delay it shows nothing - here are the messages either side (nothing appears between these times:

Information 02/02/2010 22:09:14 kernel-general 12 none
Information 02/02/2010 22:00:20 kernel-general 13 none

I have run full anti-malware scans and am fairly confident nothing nasty is lurking. I've seen mention on some forums of clearing virtual memory on shutdown causing delays but windows 7 home premium does not seem to have the gpedit.exe utility that is recommended to cure this. Also i have looked in the registry and found a key labeled "clearpagefileatshutdown" which i assume would be the one to set with gpedit but this is set to 0x00000000 (0) - i'm guessing this setting means that the page file should not be cleared at shutdown - is that correct?

I have tried setting the registry key for waittokillapptimeout to both 2000 and 20000 but this seems to make no significant difference. Does anyone have any ideas of what else i can look for to try and find out what is causing the delay? Just as a final thought - while the close down screen is sitting doing nothing for the 10 minutes i have noticed some slow disc and network traffic but i can't tell what this is doing. As i said earlier there seems to be nothing in event viewer's logs - at least that i can find. I'd be really grateful for any help with this as i'm stuck for what to try next.

Occasional Freeze / System Locks Up For Several Minutes

For a good while after initially putting my system together, i would encounter one or two crashes regularly upon boot-up. Gradually, through perhaps either cleaning the system and/or installing more recent drivers that problem no longer exists. However, at about the same time the crashes ended, the system began operating relatively sluggishly. Not only do programs run slower on my new system, but the system locks up for several minutes at a time. Cpu usage and memory usage randomly and frequently maxes out, despite only running one or two programs at a time.

I have installed and ran ms security essentials, cc cleaner, and malwarebytes anti-malware and at this point, they can't tag anything for removal. I'd appreciate it if someone could recommend one or several things to do to troubleshoot my problem. There are a few things i've mulled as the root of my computer's performance issues:i have a malicious file or program that isn't being detected by software?System is not freeing up resources once they are not being used? System registry was damaged by a virus or uninstall? My 2nd internal hard drive, which was the primary hd from my last computer is adversely affecting performance?Poor graphics card?Faulty memory?

Ie8, Office, Live Takes Several Minutes To Start

I'm running windows 7 64-bit with 12gb of ram on an i7 quad core. Whenever i start ie8 32-bit it takes several minutes before it will display a web page, most of that time it says waiting for about:blank in the status bar. I've searched the web and none of the solutions i've found work. I've noticed that office communicator and live meeting both take upwards of 5 to 6 minutes to start. I also use firefox and it starts on the same web pages as ie8 but only takes a second or two.

Since most of my work is using tools like share-point actually using firefox as my primary browser is not an option since it is not compatible with sharepoint. I've disabled all antivirus and even changed antivirus applications at one point so i don't think antivirus is an issue.

Cannot Log On

We have a family computer with 4 users, 2 of which are administrators (parents). My son cannot log onto the internet from his desktop page. Earlier today a message popped up saying that the computer was infected and a anti virus suite message popped up and wanted to know if we wanted to buy this program. Have no idea how it got on here or where it came from. I have run an anti malware and anti spiware scan on all the drives on the computer and the anti virus suite message doesn't pop up, but he still cannot log onto the internet from his page.

No Log In Or Submit Button

When i want to log in to my email there isn't any log in button. I have to search all over to find where it is by clicking the mouse all over. The same happens on some games, or when i want to order something or doing surveys. It will say click submit and there isn't any button to click. In other words, those buttons or whatever you call them, have disappeared.

Unable To Log On To Win7

I am running windows 7 ultimate. I've been running on this for a few months. This morning, i went to log on and got an error invalid log on or password. I tried again, thinking i typed it wrong. Still didn't work. I rebooted in safe mode and was able to successfully log on.

I've created another account that doesn't have a password, and even logging into it i get the error invalid log on or password. I also did a system restore to 3 days ago, this didn't help either. I would simply back up my data while in safe mode and reinstall this laptop, except i have a program installed that i do not have the media for any longer. This is a program i need to do everything i possibly can to avoid loosing.

How To Log On As Administrator Permanently?

How do i log on as administrator permanently? I have just gotten a computer with windows 7. I had a problem with a shareware program: the software key wouldn't "take" until i ran the program as administrator. I think it was happening because entering the registration code writes to the registry, and if would only be effective for that session; i.e. , It went back to trial mode with a restart.

Anyway, i am the only user on this computer; the account type is "administrator. " Does this really mean anything? Why do i still have to "log on as administrator"? Can i make this permanent?

Windows Cannot Log You On Because Your Profile Cannot Be Loaded

Powered down my windows 7 professional system and booted up a windows xp drive. Replaced the windows 7 drive back in and came up with this error.

Attached are other event viewer error logs in application section.

Source: user profile service
Event id: 1500
Details: windows cannot log you on because your profile cannot be loaded. Check that you are connected to the network, and that your network is functioning correctly.
Detail - access is denied.

I have had minimal experiance with windows vista as microsoft support kb says to just delete the user profile however i see that as a very weak answer too a problem. Especially for a custom user profile. Any help / advice into this without having to reload the os would be great.

How To Log Certificate Access Attempts?

I am getting an error from outlook 2003 and getting the error message, "the server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could not be verified. " I know what the problem is, i need to enable the right certificate, but there's no information as to what certificate it is having a problem with. I need to know the name of the certificate or the certificate authority or whatever.

I actually see that in internet explorer too. Sometimes i might have a problem with a certificate, but it gives no details as to which one. Is there a way to log which certificates windows is trying to access or for the moment at least which one outlook is trying to access?

Cannot Log On To New Created User Account

I created a new standard user account via control panel/user accounts/manage accounts. When i log out of the admin account and try to log on to the newly created account i get error message "the user profile service service failed the logon" "user profile cannot be loaded". Click ok and it logs off. I can still log on to all other 5 accounts which i created after i set up this new laptop (pre-installed with windows 7). When you click on a new account the first time, the system should set up the desktop and create the user folders.

I went back into admin account and checked application event log. Event id 1509 "windows cannot copy file c:usersdefault to location c:usersnew test account. This error may be caused by network problems of insufficient security rights. "  Detail - access is denied.

Cannot Log Into Xp Mode With Integration Turned On

I am using windows 7 enterprise and have downloaded and installed windows virtual pc and xp mode. I used the standard username of xpmuser and a password. Successfully linked to my company shared drives and installed the applications that need to run in xp mode. Fter a reboot of the main pc i can no longer log into xp mode with the hard drive integration turned on. With integration turned on, when i type in the xpmuser password i get a message "the local policy of this system does not allow you to logon interactively". I'm actually logging in twice. As the virtual machine starts, i enter the xpmuser name and password at a 'security' screen, then the xp session starts, and i get the error message above. Since the vm isn't part of a 'real' domain, i can't use my windows logon id, i am using the xmpuser name and password. I've removed and reinstalled virtual pc and xp mode and get back to this same problem. I get everything installed, but when the hardware is rebooted, i can no longer log in to xp mode.

Outlook Xp Problem With Log Into Email Account

When i added my email account to outlook xp under windows 7 i told it to save my password. When i clicked 'test settings' all of the tests completed.

Every time i run outlook xp it requests my password now! It does not ask for a profile. It says: pop. Telus.net, and the 'password' field is empty. When i type in my password it says the server rejected mylog in! If i go to my email account settings the password is in the appropriate field. If i click on 'test settings' all tests pass!

I went into notepad. I typed my password. I selected and copied my password. I went to my email account with internet explorer. I pasted my password into the appropriate field. I clicked 'log in. ' i was successful in logging in. I logged out.

I invoked outlook. It requested my password for: pop. Telus.net. I pasted my password into the appropriate field. I clicked: log in. Outlook told me that my email server had rejected my log in! I logged into my email account. I did not logout. I once again invoked outlook. This time i was not asked for my password. I clicked: send/receive all of my emails were received!

I called my email provider. I asked if he had any idea why outlook was not working. He said he had no idea. This never happened under windows xp. Does anyone know why outlook xp is unable to log into my email account under windows 7? Programmer for visual c+ 6. 0, and microsoft office including access.

Task Manager Can't Log Off User

I have windows 7 home premium with three accounts on it. Frequently someone else uses one of two the standard account on it and locks it down, i come along and log in with my administrators and log in and try to kill off their session. When i run task manager, highlight the standard account and then click logoff i get an error message user amy (sessionid=1) could not be logged off. Access is denied.

I've tried running task-manager from the system32 folder as administrator (even though my account is administrator) but i still get the same message. The amy (the standard user account) at this point shows in task manager as disconnected. How can i log of the other two users without re-booting please?

Can Log Into Admin Account But Not In Limited User

I shut my computer down two weeks ago before i left on a week long work trip. When i returned windows starts up normally except that i couldn't log in to any account. It would just hang at the screen with the spinning circle. I eventually was able to log in in safe mode, and used the fix from prevx.com and now i can log onto my admin account but not my limited account. Also even in my admin account only starcraft 2 works. Every other program i have installed takes ten minutes or more to start up, if they do, and most freeze the first time i click on any menu. For example i tried clicking save as on an open office document and it was hanging for over two hours. Internet explorer, firefox, and chrome don't load at all, while open office and msoffice both load and freeze.

Boot Takes Minutes, Will Boot In Safe Mode

When i booted up this arvo, the computer took 15 minutes to get to the log in screen. Upon clicking the profile image, i had to wait another 5 minutes of unresponsiveness for even the desktop background to display. Rebooted 3-4 times, still happened, booted in safe mode, (which is how i'm writing this) and initially thought it was msmpeng.exe that was causing me issues, so i removed mse once i finally managed to get it going in normal mode. I thought the problem was fixed when i rebooted, and i had about 4-5 minutes of normal speeds before it slowed right down and became unresponsive.

When the computer is running, the actual computer itself sounds fine (hard disk is chattering away) but when going slow and unresponsive it only makes noises every 1-2 seconds, if that makes any sense, as if it's under a really heavy load. Hard to tell because i cant open anything. Ran a system restore, didn't do anything. I need help soon! I suspect a driver issue, but i'm just speculating. Specs: windows 7 home premium 64 bit 6gig ddr3 ram i7-860 cpu ati 5770 gpu
