Microphone Sound Not Detected

Microphone issues i recently got a hp computer with windows 7 installed on it, i got the updates, installed skype and when i went into a call, the other person couldn't hear my microphone, i know these things: it's not a problem with skype. It's not my mic, as it worked on the previous computer. Yes, the mic is unmuted, and plugged into the correct jack i've looked at all of the troubleshooting guides, and the only result i have received from any of them is a loud screeching sound from my mic when i click "listen" in the control panel>sound>recording>microphone area.

I've downloaded and installed any updates that the trouble shooting guide suggests i do. Yet still nothing. All i'm getting is the same screeching noise that i wasn't getting before, i checked all the mic settings and it's enabled, unmuted, and the computer says it's getting the signal from the mic, i even did a troubleshooting check and it said it found no problems. And again, i know for a fact it's not the mic itself because it was working on the previous computer, and while i was changing computers no damage was done to the mic.

Microphone Not Picking Up Any Sound

I recently got a new dell studio 17 laptop with windows 7. I like to game alot so i have a headset with a microphone. My computer does not show the microphone picking up my voice, or any sound at all. It is plugged into the correct jack, i have turned the levels up and down and the db as well. I've made sure it's not muted, and it still doesn't pick up any noise. I've also made it the default device and default communications device and still nothing. Even tried, disabling the built in microphone on my computer to see if that was interfering. Still doesn't pick up any sound. .

Sound Blaster X-fi Sound Card Not Detected

My pc is just over a year old and works fine in all respects with visa 32 bit. The sound card is a sound blaster x-fi and 5. 1 speakers, 2 gigs of memory and quad core. I shrunk the drive to create a partition etc and installed windows 7 in the new partition ( installed this whilst in vista and not from a boot sequence. Booting from the dvd hung at the blue screen with no options to continue). Anyway the installation went fine and boots in to windows with no problems. Except the sound card was not detected.

Using the original driver disk does not update anything, i.e. Pointing to it whilst in update driver mode. Installing from the disk fails at the drivers part of installation on 15 or so dll's. After which in the sound section it now says no audio devices are installed. Before the installation there was one item in this secion, a spdif icon. There was no sound though even though this item was present. Btw, onboard sound is de-activated in the bios.

Booting into vista form the option screen and all is working fine. Any ideas would be most welcome. I have one other small problem when i try and run an online game (eq) it throws up an error message saying cannot access memory at 0x00000044 and promptly closes down when the ok box is clicked. Other than this i like windows 7.

Sound Card Crashing On Microphone Use

So basically, i can listen to music on itunes and use sound in any program around, until i began to use my microphone. I can use chat on aim and skype, but the second i start a voice chat with someone, my sound crashes until i restart my computer. I've run both self-help tools from the website, and i can't provide you with what sound card i'm using because 1. ) I forgot where to search. 2. ) When i finally did find it a few times recently, it said no sound card could be found. I know that to be untrue, but how do i go about fixing it?

Win 7 Not Showing Xbox Headset And Microphone In Sound Devices

I installed the drivers use compatibility tool in windows 7 and the drivers for the headset and microphone installed. Both devices  show up in device manager but not under the sound devices. Only the default sound and the magic jack phone show up in the sound box, when you go into control panel and click on sound it pops up. I have restarted the pc and even tried to refresh devices but nothing.

Headset Sound Is Not Detected On Skype Phone Call

I'm using a logitech headset with microphone to answer and make skype phone calls. I hear them. Why cant they hear me?I have run all set up options from skype. As for the logitech equipment is concerned i believe it is "plug in and it is ready to use", there was no program to load nor was there an instruction manual.

There is a slider on/off switch for the microphone. I am not sure that microphone options and volume {specially for a headset with a microphone} from inside my dell studio 1555 are set up correctly. I have inquired on this matter via online chat and allowed remote access to dell representative to assist me. Nothing has worked. When i started skype 2 months ago it worked fine.

Not perfect 100% of the time yet good enuf. Now i am not heard at all or barely when i'm in a phone call with headset or without. As of today: 7/1/2010 i can't hear "them" so i don't know if "they" can hear me. So, please tell me how to make my skype phone work through my laptop.

Cant Get Microphone To Work

As the title says, my computer does not recognize when i plug a microphone in. I am using a pair of headphones with a microphone attached to it. I have tried 2 different sets so i know the actual mic works.

Under control panel -> hardware and sound -> manage audio devices, recording tab, it says "no audio devices are installed" i have tried using 2 different ports and it still doesn't work.

I am running windows 7 home ultimate. Can anyone shed some light on what i can do?

Edit: i recently installed to windows 7 from vista, could it be that some sort of audio driver didnt get installed or xfered over correctly? How would i figure this out?

Microphone Not Working

I've just installed windows 7 pro on my hp g7000 laptop, however the built in microphone doesn't work! It worked in vista and even in ubuntu (i think), so why not windows 7?

Are there any official / unofficial drivers or updates around to solve this problem? I've noticed that there are quite a lot of people saying that their built in microphones stop working when they upgrade to win 7.

Has microsoft released a fix for this?

Microphone Bug

I have a problem about mic. I use windows 7(32-bit), and have latest sound driver. The problem is, i plug it in at proper "jack" ( the pink one ). I un-mute it and put the volume on max. I can hear on my headset when im poking the mic but when i try to record, or to speak with someone over skype / msn, the green line is not rising up, and people are complaining to me that they can't hear me. I've been searching forums about this. I am sure that its not cause of driver, or non-working mic. Some even wrote that it could be a bug at windows 7, or driver http://social. Answers.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/gettingreadyforwindows7/thread/562f2350-44d2-4495-981d-c416d0337bd7

I have one desktop mic, and headset mic, same problem at both. Oh, and by the way, i never had this kind of problem on windows xp.

Logitech Microphone Not Working

I have a logitech internet headset which i haven't used in a while using realtek hd audio drivers. I wanted to use skype but my microphone wasn't picking up. Now i've tried it both on my laptop and another pc using winxp so its not the headset.

1) it is connected to the right jack (pink)
2) i used windows sound recorder and nothing was recorded when speaking into it.
3) microphone is enabled in sound recording devices, but the bars to the right of the  microphone icon never goes higher than one green bar.

4) the microphone is not muted, i checked in realtek audio manager and windows sound mixer, also have volume for mic turned up all the day and it is set to 30 db.

5) i tried updating audio drivers, nothing new was found, uninstalled and used ms drivers and it still didn't work, then reinstalled the original drivers and did not work.

The speakers are also working fine and have worked fine. Form searching around i have noticed this seems to be a common problem that hasn't been resolved anywhere, is there anything i can do to get mic working?

Ventrilo / Microphone / Drivers Issue

I recently purchased windows 7 professional (i'm running 32 bit). I like to game online, and i use vent for my voip service. I can hear people fine, and when i press my ptt key, the green microphone lights up and xmit appears, but no one can hear a thing that i say. I checked device manager, so all the drivers are updated, but when i log into vent it says that "no sound driver is available for use". Nothings muted, and it's not an issue with my microphone because i tried it with my friend's. My mic worked with xp before i upgraded, and i have no idea what's wrong now. I don't use a sound card, and it says all my drivers are updated in device manager.

Usb Microphone Stopped Working

I just recently purchased a blue eyeball 2. 0 webcam/microphone. Once connected i was testing it out on chatroulette.com and asked people if they could hear me. All good so far. Then i used windows sound recorder, sounded great, crisp and clear.

As i continued to check setting and adjust volumes, i noticed the voice recognition/text-to-speech program built into windows. That intrigued me so i started the "train your computer to better understand you" did a couple of those and wanted to start the voice recognition. Windows asked if i wanted to do the tutorial, so i figured that would be a good idea. As i went through the tutorial it asked me to say "my weekend was good", to make the program not understand, it worked so far.

But next it asked me to say "show speech options", nothing happened, i said it again and again, nothing. Then i realized that little bar in voice recognition wasn't moving. So i just closed the tutorial, and then went back to windows voice recorder nothing. Out of nowhere it stopped capturing any voice or sound through the mic.

I tried everything i could think, and even what other threads said. I made sure it was defaulted, i made sure it wasn't muted, i disabled and enabled, i uninstalled drivers and reinstalled drivers. I've tried switching usb ports. I've tried it all. Also there's no sound card drivers i could get, since it is through usb. Also, just for giggles i installed the latest updates for the sound card, that of course didn't do anything. The webcam/mic is plug-n-play, and it was working, so i know it didn't break in 10 minutes. If anyone could help me out, that would be great. I'm a sad panda.

Windows 7 64-bit
Custom built computer
Blue eyeball 2. 0 (supports xp, vista, win 7, and mac)

Re-enabling Microphone - Show Disconnected Devices

If you don't know already know. In the sound module in windows 7 there is a feature in properties to disconnect the device using the device usage drop-down menu in the general tab. I have been scouring the internet for days to try and find a solution for re-enableing my microphone. I finally found the solution purely by accident when i right clicked in the empty space where my mic was once displayed. I clicked on the option to "show disconnected devices" whola 2 devices popped up. All i had to do was go back to properties and re-connect them.

Question is:
Why have microsoft set this option to hide them by default?

Why have this feature in the first place?

Marshall Mxl Usb Microphone Problem

I purchased an mxl 990 usb mic for desktop recording. The package encouraged the user to download software based pre-amp and recording applications. Here are the links to the downloads. Soft pre-amp: http://www.Mxlmics.com/products/900_series/990_usb/990_usb.html recorder software: http://www.Mxlmics.com/products/usb/software.html

I only installed these apps because windows 7 failed to install a driver for the mic;so i thought the manufacturer's apps would solve the driver problem. Instead, not only did the installation attempt crash my system, but windows now crashes everytime i connect the mic to the usb port. I've uninstalled both apps and the crash still occurs on connection.

Dell Inspiron 1521 Microphone Not Working

I upgraded to windows 7 a few months ago and have tried everything i can think of to get my microphone working but to no avail. It is an internal array, so i don't need to plug into the jack. I have installed the sigmatel audio drivers. The device shows up as enabled and set as my default device. The microphone is not muted, but when i go to a recording program, it reads that the microphone is not picking up any sound at all. The windows troubleshooter doesn't know what to do either, does anybody have a fix?

Joystick Not Detected

I'll describe the situation in detail. First, i upgraded to windows 7. When i had installed my games, i tried to add my joystick. I discovered windows 7 doesn't support standard gameport devices, only usb. No problem, i have a converter cord that lets me use my gameport joystick on a usb port. I plugged it in and got nothing. No sound effect, nothing. I tried looking for it in the devices menu, the game controller menu, even the device manager, but it appears nowhere. It's as though it's not connected at all.

I thought it might be that the joystick is too old and not supported, but it's a microsoft sidewinder 3d pro, and it is apparently supported. I thought perhaps the usb port was faulty, but i have the same problem regardless of where i connect it, and other devices work normally on all the ports. I thought perhaps the adaptor was faulty, but my gampad works using it.

In the end, i went out and bought a saitek aviator usb joystick. I connect it and nothing. Exactly the same problem as the sidewinder. The drivers are up to date. The port is operating, the joystick works on my old computer, the adaptor works with the gampad, and all of them are supported by windows. I'm at a loss. What else could this be?

No Network Detected

I recently installed windows 7 on a brand new hard drive and it went fine. However, when i try to connect to the internet, nothing happens. I have downloaded the correct driver, i think, but it still doesn't work. In fact, windows doesn't even recognize my home network. There are no devices listed under device manager. I actually just got my pc back from the geek squad. They "fixed" the problem i brought it in for, but they forgot to plug my hard drive into my motherboard. I had to do that.could an unplugged cable to my network adapter be the issue? If so, what am i looking for?

Usb Devices Are Not Detected

I've been reading a lot of posts in this community and in similar ones and i tried all sorts of things suggested there with the hope that my problem gets solved. Unfortunately it hasn't happened so far, but at least i know i'm not the only one frustrated. I have a toshiba satellite l30-10t laptop, running windows 7 home premium, clean install after vista home basic oem.

After installing 7, my usb devices (wd 320 gb external hard drive, usb hub, mp3 player, flash drives, mobiles phones, digital camera) worked fine for a few days, then all of a sudden were not recognized anymore. I don't get any error message, the devices are powered (lights on, disc spinning), but drivers fail to load. I've already tried the following (the list is randomly ordered) with little or no succes at all:

- Reinstalling the os
- Updated bios
- Trying to update the usb drivers
- Uninstalling the usb controllers/reboot and let windows find them again, both in normal and safe mode.
- Shut down, unplug from main power supply (with the battery taken out as well), left it overnight and then boot again
- Erased all the installed usb devices in device manager using the "show hidden devices" feature
- Deactivated the usb selective suspension in the power scheme settings and the "allow computer to shut down device to save energy" (my windows is in italian, i'm sorry if not getting the right names in english) in the usb hub's settings - solved the issue for a few days.
- Deleted the upper and lower filters in the registry as suggested in one post - this only caused a blue screen each time i tried to reboot.
- Installed the latest driver for the ati chipset (or at least i think this is what i did)
- Used this tool http://www.Zhangduo.com/udi.html to find any unknown devices, it found a couple, usb controller and usb hub, but i couldn't get any drivers.

I've seen a solution that seemed to work for some, though it was for xp, change the disableselectivesuspend value in the registry, but i couldn't figure out exactly how since my registers look a bit different than described in the post.

Hp Deskjet 1000c Is Not Detected

Windows 7 professional is being used. The computer is a dell studio xps 9000. The usb cable is a sabrent "usb to parallel (printer ieee1284) cable". The printer is the hp deskjet 1000c. This computer does not have a lpt port. When the cable is attached to the computer's usb, the cable is recognized but the printer is not. I tried to print a word and an excel file and neither program could detect the printer. I also tried to use the virtual pc utility, in xp mode, with some works files and got the same results.

The windows 7 compatibility list did show this printer as being compatible. Do i need different drivers, a different cable or what?

Usb Adapter Not Being Detected

Okay, here's what i'm having a problem with. I purchased a mayflash n64 duel port adapter, which is supposed to be "plug and play". It says compatible with windows 98, me, xp, and vista. But my pc isn't even acknowledging that i've plugged something in! Is there something i'm missing here, or am i just out of luck because i bought into windows 7?(I've never had trouble using older programs/devices before. And i was really excited about using the n64 controller with the n64 games. )I searched for drivers, but since it's "plug and play" i couldn't find any.

Secondary Display Not Detected

I have two monitors on an nvidia 8600gts running windows 7. 1 is a generic dell 19" lcd that came with my room mate's computer, and the other is a 22" lg flatron. For a long time i had both running fine, primarily using the lg, and putting up documents on the dell. I disabled the dell to get a game to run, since it would not run with both monitors enabled, which was my first issue. Then, about 2 weeks later i shuffled my machine over a bit. One of the monitor plugs came loose, and now windows will not detect my lg screen.

This had happened before, and then came back about a week later, however both screens were enabled at that time. Now i cannot get the lg to be even found on my computer. I've tried the windows display settings, the nvidia control panel, even the hardware manager. I cannot detect the monitor anywhere. So, how can i get it back? I've got up-to-date drivers for the card, i've tried rebooting, unplugging and replugging, changing inputs, scanning for hardware changes, and everything else i could possibly think of. Please someone help me get both my monitors running.

Display Not Detected In 64-bit

Intel i5 750 2. 66 ghz gigabyte ga-p55m-ud2 matx 4gb ddr3 ram, 1. 5v 13333mhz corsair 450w vx series psu500 gb western digital hd nvidia 8600gt

I've ran into a problem after i reinstalled windows:previously i had 2 monitors connected. The pimary is a 23 inch monitor connected via dvi, the secondary is a 32 inch lcd tv connected via vga. Before the reinstall both monitors worked fine although the secondary (vga) display would show the startup (bios, starting windows etc) before switching to the primary (dvi) when the desktop appeared. When i reinstalled windows this time i disconnected everything bar the primary monitor, mouse and keyboard.

Now the primary monitor is working fine (and is also showing the startup process) but windows can't detect the second tv. Using control panel > display  > adjust resolution and clicking detect i get the message 'another display not detected'.nvidia control panel also fails to recognize the 2nd display. I've removed and reinstalled the latest nvidia drivers but the problem persists.

Intermittent Usb Not Detected Problem

My problem is the following: i have a genius traveler 315 laser mouse which i brought last summer and it worked perfect on my laptop. Recently i have bought a new laptop, on which the mouse does not work anymore.

The problem is very awkward, because the behavior of the mouse on the new laptop is completely random: on several occasions it actually worked perfectly when plugged-in, but most of the times (e.g. After restarting the os or unplugging the mouse and plugging it back) it didn't. This behavior is even stranger because on my old laptop and several others the mouse still works perfectly.

My first opinion was that the problem is with the usb or mouse drivers, but when i tried another mouse and an external hdd on the new laptop, they both worked fine. I even copied the usb-related drivers from my old laptop to the new one, hoping i could solve the problem that way, but the outcome was the same (on both laptops the os is win 7).

Another possibility was that one of the wires in the mouse's cord was broken, but i crossed that out, too, because i tried twisting the cord as much as i could while it was working on the new laptop and it still worked fine. The usb sockets on the new laptop are all working (i tried them all).

I know that the easy solution is to buy another mouse, but i rather figure out what is wrong with this one (or with my new laptop) than to spend money to replace a mouse that i know it is functional because i feel that that money would be wasted, i have no guarantee that the new mouse will work (if i'd buy a new one i'd still go for a genius) and, besides, i would be really glad if i could solve this awkward problem.

Dvd Rom And Rw Drive Not Detected

I installed fresh copy (no upgrade) of windows 7 last night and after the installation finish, i notice both drives were missing from my computer.

Dell dimension 9200
Missing drives - pbds- dvd+-rw dh-16w1s and tsst corp dvd-rom ts-353b

Under device manager - they appear with an !Exclamation! Over them, there is no window 7 drivers  on the dell support website for my computer. I have attempted to do the firmware upgrade but tsdnwin reports drive not found. I have deleted the drives from devices manager and shutdown then disconnect and reconnect the cables and boot, and the problem is still here. I have try diagnostics built into windows 7 and it didn't work. Drives are showing up in my bios, while booting. Is there anything else i can try?

Usb Storage Device Not Detected

I am using a 2gb "memory stick pro duo" plug into a "memory stick pro duo" to "memory stick duo" adaptor, this is then plugged into my trust "all-in-1 card reader" which is plugged into my computer. The computer however does not recognize that anything is plugged in and no error message shows up. In device manager i can see 2 "generic usb hub" which i know signifies the "all-in-1 card reader", but no other devices related to my memory stick show up.

I've tried this on two other computers and they both have the same problem. When i plug my memory card into my camera it can easily see the pictures stored on there. I was going to try to reformat the memory stick but if it can't be detected at all, how would i do that?

Usb Devices Not Detected - Bsod Driver_power_state_failure

I am using a toshiba satellite a505-s6025 running windows 7 pro 64-bit, 4gb ram, nvidia 310m graphics card. Things have been working well for a couple of months until yesterday, after i installed a western digital mybook world edition (1tb) and the most recent windows updates. After these installations, i have been having 2 problems:

1. ) First thing i noticed is that shutdown takes forever, and ends with a bsod with driver_power_state_failure message.

2. ) Secondly, none of my usb devices are being recognized anymore. Sometimes when i have these devices plugged before turning windows on they get recognized properly, but if i plug any usb devices after windows loads i do
Not get any recognition at all.

I've tried updating to the latest video drivers, bios, and uninstalling the programs that came with the wd drive (mionet and wd anywhere backup) but the problems haven't gone away.

Analyzing the memory dump led to this message:
