Will Win 7 Let Me Use A 3rd Party Hd Driver For Raid Config ?

I am currently running xp using a raid 0 configuration. Will windows 7 accept the driver for raid configs that come with my cpu? Will windows 7 let me use a 3rd party hd driver for raid config? I'm currently running raid 0 in xp and would like to go to raid 5 or 10 in windows 7. My current raid driver came with the intel processor.

3rd Party Email Client

When trying to send a comment or reply, (ie) a website that has their own email contact form, not normal e-mailing, i get a message that refers to a pop3 acct.yahoo server cannot be found, which
Yahoo was my regular home page. I changed home pages to msn and even have a g-mail acct. I've
Tied going through internet options and settings to change email accounts, don't know how to change pop3 if that is what i need to do. Normal emailing is ok whether its msn/gmail/or yahoo. Yet no matter what service i use, even though it says it is going through windows mail. I keep getting error message yahoo server cannot be found.

Win 7 Creates System Repair Disk Without Including The 3rd Party

Windows 7 creates "system repair disk" without including the 3rd party pci-sata driver required to see my sata drives. I upgraded a 2002 vintage pc with a siliconimage sil3512 pci sata controller and 2 500g sata drives. It was slightly annoying that out of the box win 7 did not include the drivers (when every recent version of linux i've tried did). I got win 7 installed by loading the driver when asked. I guess win 7 cannot include every legacy driver.

The surprising thing is that when i ask win 7 to create a system repair disk (presumably to repair the system used to create the disk) it leaves out the driver that it should know is required to make repair possible. Seems like sloppy work to me.

Standard Email Client - 3rd Party Email Program

I work on a danish high-school, and i need to use a 3rd party email- and conference program as my standard email client. The client is first class. When i install it, and marks it as standard email client, windows 7 doesn't recognize it, and when you click on a mailto: in explorer it pops up with a message saying standard client not installed correct.

I have tried to edit standard programs, but only windows software appears in there, and i can't get my 3rd. Party client to appear. How do i solve this problem?

Toshiba Raid Driver

I'm trying to install windows 7 ultimate over vista and it all goes okay until it tells me to uninstall the toshiba raid driver due to compatibility issues). I have searched the device manager (apparently where this is supposed to be) and did a complete search of my hard-drive and i can't find this thing anywhere. I'm not familiar with the raid driver or what it does, so can someone out there help me find this thing so i can uninstall it and finish my installation?

Win7 Can't Recognize Driver For Raid C: Drive

I am trying to upgrade from windows xp professional (32 bit) to windows 7. The installation stalls when it asks for a cd or dvd with the drivers used by my ati 1x2 mirror/raid1 scsi disk device. I tried to get it to recognize the drivers already installed on the machine. It won't, it keeps insisting on a cd or dvd. I copied the correct drivers from the xp windows/system 32 using the file identities in "hardware" under windows system to a dvd. No dice.

I downloaded the drivers from hp (the pc is a compaq/hp machine) and installed them on the dvd. Still doesn't work. Now what do i do. If i format the drive and start afresh, the upgrade disc won't find my xp system, and may not up grade. Windows claims that my machine is windows 7 ready.

Remove Drive From Raid / Change Sata Mode From Raid To Ahci

Remove a drive from raid then change sata mode from raid to ahci, situation: i have 3 physical hdds: 1 ssd and 2 identical mechanical drives. The ssd stores the win 7 x64 pro installation while the mechanical drives, in raid 1, store data. The sata mode is set to raid at the moment. I want to remove a mechanical hard drive, thus, breaking the raid. Using the intel raid manager interface, i think i will still have all the data on the 2 mechanical hard drives.

Then, i will want to change the sata mode to ahci (1) because i will no longer have a raid (2) i want to enable trim for my ssd. Questions: how will changing sata mode to ahci affect my os installation? Should i change the mode before or after i remove a raid member? Will i have to reinstall windows?

Cannot Find 3rd File To Install Xp Compatibility Mode

With windows 7 in a brand-new pc, i went to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx after confirming that my pc will handle the software. One must enter their os (windows 7 64-bit ultimate) and language (english), after which 3 blue boxes appear. The user is told to download file#1, install it, then file#2 and then file#3. Everything works fine with #1 and #2, but the blue box for #3 on that page is not a hyperlink (as are #1 and #2). It says, "**enables windows xp mode for pcs" - and i suppose that it would, if it was a live url. It appears that someone has updated the webpage and inadvertently messed up the hyperlink. Either that, or i'm a dummy. Maybe both.
Any help appreciated.

Raid 0 Does Not Recognize Raid Array

I have a build with 7 ultimate running swimmingly for months with 2 single 1tb 7200 disks and one 128 gb ssd single. Yesterday, i successfully created a raid 0 array of 4x 60 gb ocz ssds in the gigabyte phoenix bios but they are not recognized as a usable array by 7ult. 7ult recognizes them  as an array in devices , everest recognizes them but after booting off the 128gb ssd they are not recognized in 'my computer", are not accessible, and generally are sitting there pretty, but useless.

My idea was to clone the 128 ssd to the array with acronis or paragon and use it as a super fast boot array? Any thoughts. Windows 7 ultimate and raid 0 setup after initial setup. 7 does not recognize raid array.

Copy Raid Drive To Another Raid Drive

I've been running 2 seagate barracuda 500 gig hdd in raid1. I recently purchased 2 wd cavier green 2tb hdd that i want to run in raid5. I have backed up all my information from my existing drive to my external and create the back up boot cd. When i go to restore the information to the new raid array i get a error message (think it was 0x80042414). I tried then to just reinstall windows 7. Problem 2 happens. It will see the 3. 6tb hdd and will partition only 2tb of the disk space even though it was specified for 3. 6tb. Even still with the 2tb drive the install fails (don't have the error code).
How can i get the drive copied to my new array?

Raid 0 On Win 7 64

Q1. I have been considering a raid 0 configuration on my new win 7 pc. My first question is: is it worth the trouble to do this? Will i see a measurable difference on performance?

Note: i have always wanted to try raid 0 for performance improvement but did not due to increased data risk. I have a whs doing nightly backups, so i am more willing to take the risk. But, this is my main pc and i don't have time for a nightmare.

Here is what i have:
Os name microsoft windows 7 professional
System type x64-based pc
Processor intel(r) core(tm) i7 cpu 860  @ 2. 80ghz, 2800 mhz, 4 core(s), 8 logical processor(s)
Bios version/date intel corp. Kgibx10j. 86a. 4507. 2010. 0105. 1706, 1/5/2010

Installed physical memory (ram) 8. 00 gb
Mother board: dp55wg
Chipset: intel® p55 express chipset
Bios supports and is already set to: raid
Hard drive: (i have 2 of these drives, one not installed yet)

 #Model               wdc wd10eads-00l5b1
Max. Transfer mode   udma 6 (ata/133)
Size                 931. 51 gb

Per intel web site: - intel raid migration technology: seamless migration from a single hard drive to a raid 0 or raid 1 dual hard drive array without requiring os reinstallation.

Q2: if it is worth the trouble, can anyone suggest path to do this? I see a lot of conflicting information on what needs to be done. With win7 and bios already configured to raid, do i really need to do anything? On os side, do i use intel sw (i have not found for win7 64) or ms iscsi or other? Easy next steps recommendation from anyone?

Raid 0 Conversion

If i were to install a second drive that was identical to my primary current drive and used the raid 0 configuration utility in my bios, would the conversion to raid 0 split the data on my current drive to the second drive or would it format both drives causing me to lose everything? Does anyone have any practical experience with this? I really don't want to lose all of the progress in my games and have to reload everything else.

Setting Up Raid 1

A question for setting up raid 1 ( i have never attempted raid before). I understand that raid 1 can be set up through windows 7. I have one 1tb drive with windows 7 pro, 64-bit and one blank 1tb drive, which i would like to use to mirror the other drive. I know that when using hardware raid that you must set it up before loading the os. I already have many programs, etc. On my main drive and was hoping it wasn't too late to use the blank drive as a mirror. If so, are there some simple instructions to follow?

Raid 0 Scoring Only 5.9

What can i do about my raid 0 scoring only 5. 9 in windows index. I have a i-7 920 on an x58 mobo (asus p6td deluxe). My base score is 5. 9 due to my storage system. I am running 2 sata hitachi deskstar 1tb 3gb/s hard drives in a raid 0 config. I plan on upgrading to a raid 5 with 4 drives.
It has been awhile since i built my last system. I am kinda wondering if there is some new storage tech. That i haven't read about.

I would like to have at least a 7. 0 rating on my primary hard disk. I have been unable to find information relating to my problem on the microsoft sites. My mobo does not support sata 6gb/s.
Will the raid 5 with 4 drives do what i am trying to achieve?

Getting Win 7 To See Raid 0 Drive

I've just installed windows 7 64bit on a new pc with a single non raid sata drive and raid 0 set up on 2 sata hdds. My problem is the non raid hdd shows up as the c: drive but the raid drive was not visible in the computer menu. I went into disk management and tried to convert the raid drive from a basic to dynamic drive in order to create a new striped volume, which i assume is necessary for a raid 0 configuration? However, the drive seems to be divided into 2 volumes. 100mb named 'system reserved' (which is now dynamic) and 932 gb unallocated space. I right click the unallocated space to access new striped volume but the option is greyed out.

I have also allocated a new drive letter to the missing raid drive which now appears as f: in the computer menu but only as 100mb 'system reserved'. How can i access the full 1tb of raid 0 on drive f: should i delete the system reserved volume and how would that affect the system?

Raid 10 Array Process

I'm switching from xp to win 7 pro 64bit - i previously set raid 10 so have experience. This was done using f6 floppy on clean install xp pro 32bit with intel ich9r driver. I am going to do a clean install with win7 pro 64bit - i have read that in win 7 you don't need to use the same process but i am unclear what exactly occurs in the install process for win 7 - will win 7 simply recognize and install the correct drivers - or do i need to have the intel 64 bit matrix drivers ready on flash drive etc. Please confirm the process?

Ps this is hardware raid not software

Slow Boot With Raid 0

I'm seeing a problem during boot-up on my sony z which has 4 x 128gb ssd drives in raid 0 via the intel option rom. The machine appears to take longer to complete the post process than it should. In the following video, you can see that after the intel option rom display, there is an extended time where the cursor blinks. While this happens, the hdd indicator light stays lit. Youtube - sony z vpcz11fhx/xq - slow post unfortunately, i didn't shoot any video of this specific machine before this issue began but i did shoot one on an "eval" vpcz112gx/s i had previously.

Youtube - sony z post time with raid shown and hidden. This behavior started after i recreated the raid volume. It only occurs when i configure the drives in raid 0. When i configure them as non-raid disks, but still use the raid driver, the boot times are normal. Also, ubuntu doesn't have this problem. Here is what i've done:booted from safe mode deleted and recreated the raid volume used the most up to date drivers, applied all updates does anybody have and idea why this is happening?

Raid Configuration Failed

Raid configuration (which is something that is recommended by microsoft) failed>>>> be carefeul - they hung up the phone on him b/c it was after business hours.

We had a redundant hard drive on my husbands computer so we could make sure we didn't loose any files on our computers. Well, within our home network we could not see each others computers which happened just recently and so we decided to do a system restore. My computer has windows 7 and my husbands does too. My system restore performed flawlessly . My husbands. Not so much - he cant even boot his computer let alone get to safe mode. We had been on the phone with microsoft for 3 hours, and i guess they wanted to send us to a different department - well they hung up on him and closed! I personally work for a customer service department and we try our hardest to get things done for our customers.

If there is a problem where we know we cannot fix before our "shift" is over, we make sure we transfer the situation to someone like a manager/expert to make sure the customer gets taken care of. Thats what customer service is all about. I am severely disappointed. By the way, the system restore erased both hard drives in the computer and now we have none of our files or programs.

How To Un-install Raid Setup?

How do i uninstall this raid setup? Intel hd security with win 7?On new computer, i was faced with essentially the following question: "do you want to install intel security to protect your hard drives?" How could i say no? There was no explanation but security is good, right? Intel (and amd) is good, right? Little did i know that security meant raid! Now i have two, 1tb hard drives in a raid. Another way of saying it is that i only have 1tb of storage that now appears on my computer. Is this accurate and more importantly is how do i uninstall this raid setup?

Raid 1 (mirror) Across 3 Or More Devices

We have been running a mirrored 2-drive setup happily since installing windows 7. However now that a sale has allowed us to add a third disk we are unable to locate an instruction manual or obvious disk management action to either add a new drive to an existing mirror, extend an existing mirror to a new device, or break/re-create the mirror across more than two devices (the dialogue does not seem to allow multiple disk selection). This is additionally frustrating since every other modern operating system, even free ones, has supported multiply redundant raid-1 storage for a very long time. Windows 7 ultimate surely also supports that solution?

Setting Up Hardware Raid Under Win7

Setting up a hardware raid under windows 7, with a separate system disc for system and programs (non raid) and 3 disc hardware raid 5 for data storage. I was running a windows xp pro machine with a hardware raid set to run as raid 5 (a 3 disc raid ) and a separate disc for the system and programs files. I want to recreate this set up using windows 7 pro (64 bit) running on a msi 790gx-g65 mother board. I successfully installed windows 7 on the system disc, without the raid drives being  installed. So i now have windows installed and running ok on my sytem disc.

I than added the 3 raid drives, set the bios to raid and set up the 3 disc hardware raid in the raid setup dialogue. Rebooted the system and first message error massage was 'can't find operating system' rebooted from dvd and started to reinstall window 7. Fter the keyboard screen, windows searches for an operating system but dose not find one. I select repair system add drives (latest raid drivers downloaded from the motherboards website).

Window finds these and seems to installs the drivers. First time i did this it windows did not find any of the drives at all, i repeated the process and it then found the raid and the separate drive but then it would not install on to the separate drive giving an error message saying it was not a correct drive and windows would not could not install on to it. Any idea anyone?

Raid And Generic Rndis Not Working

I have windows mobile device center 6. 1, windows 7 64 bit, and an intel dp45sg motherboard. A little while ago the raid controller has come up under "other devices" in the device manager as the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). That is my first problem. No updates will fix it and it never gets installed. How would i do this?

Second question is after that came up not working the microsoft windows mobile remote adapter has come up under network adapters as not working: this device cannot start. (Code 10). I assume this is the reason i cannot sync my windows mobile 6. 1 phone with my computer. I hope someone can help resolve either of these problems or both.

Mirror Drive (raid 1) Issues

I upgraded from windows 7 home premium to windows 7 professional to obtain the ability to mirror 2 hard drives. After i mirrored them, i had an alert icon on the 2nd drive, and then after a time, an alert icon appeared on the main drive. So, now both have alert icons. It says "re-syncing" and sometimes will show a percentage, but never goes all the way through. If i close the window, it restarts the syncing. If the computer goes to sleep, the same thing appears to happen. Is the alert and "re-syncing" a normal part of the process? Do i need to keep the computer from sleeping during the process?

Raid Controller Issue After Upgrade

I have a custom built machine. My motherboard is an asus p5gd2 with american megatrends bios dated 2004. Recently my hard-drive died, but i had winxp home premium backed up on a smaller drive. I purchased a western digital caviar black 1tb sata drive and migrated xp onto it using an acronis utility. After updating xp to sp2 i installed vista home premium. I then proceeded to update it to sp2 and then attempted to install windows 7 upgrade and that's where the problems began.

Windows 7 tells me to update ite it8212 ata raid controller, but vista says it's the latest. The driver is 1. 7. 2. 7 dated 11/05. In cmos the sata drive is configured as an ide, the only way it will work. I read all the info in this forum i could find, deleted a virtual drive that seemed to plague others, but to no avail.

I've seen this problem all over the internet and even found a guy who solved it, but he had a different bios and i have been unable to get my hands on the seemingly mythical 1. 7. 2. 9 { http://www.Windowsdailynews.com/2010/01/25/successfully-upgrading-your-raid-drivers-in-windows-7/} is the link to this enterprising person's tale of terror, and frankly i'm not sure i could pull it off.
Is there something about a sata drive causing this?

Is my bios outdated? Is my controller card outdated? I had windows 7 on the recently deceased drive, but it was pata. Hmmm. Anyhow, i will check for an answer next week when i return.

Expand Raid 5 Array That Has Win 7

Can i expand a raid 5 array that has windows 7 on it? I am building a pc with a raid 5 array that will initially have 3/4 disks. The pc will be running windows 7 (probably home premium 64-bit).
What i want to know is can i expand the raid array that will have the system partition on without reinstalling the os. I may be wanting to do two things and i would like to know how to do them if possible, and without paying for a third party piece of software to do it.

The first is to add extra disks to the array and then expand the array and system partition to use it. Would this work and how is it done? The second is to add larger disks to the array? Again, would this work and how would it be done? I realize i would have to upgrade all the disks to make use of the extra capacity, but can i then expand the system partition into the extra space?

Disable Or Remove Raid 1 Mirror

How can i disable or remove raid 1 mirror in windows 7? I have just bought a new desktop with windows 7. I bought it on-line, and ticked the box marked "raid 1 mirror" without understanding properly what it meant. My machine is now here, and of course one hard disk is partitioned into two, whilst the other is invisible on my sytem and, i assume, just a copy of the data on disk one.

Now that i know what raid is, i realize i don't need it, and would like to have regular use of my two hard discs. I have the 64-bit windows 7 disc so can simply re-install windows 7 if need be, if that is the answer, but would welcome nice clear advice, please.

Win7 Will Not Recognize Raid 0 Array

I can not get windows 7 to recognize my raid array.

To begin, this is a fresh install on an asus m4a78td-v evo m/b, amd phenom ii x4 955 3200 mhz, 4 gbs ddr3 memory, 2 western digital 2 tb wd20eads-00s2b0 sata 3g, and a benq dw1625 dvd burner. Nothing is over clocked and using stock video and sound.

When i install with a raid 0, 128 kb stripe block, fast init on, gigabyte boundary off, cache mode write through, and no use of the drivers for the raid array for the mother board as windows 7 ultimate x64, i can get to the point of the first re-boot and get a message of: windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install windows, restart the installation. If i restart, i get the same message.

Same setup, but this time i use the motherboard raid drivers downloaded from asus , ahcix64s. Inf, i get an error message of windows is unable to install to the selected location. Error: 0x80300001. So i partition the 3725. 9 gb raid to 1-100 mb system partition, 2047. 9 gb primary partition, and 1677. 9 gb unallocated and get the same message for each of the 3 drives as above. If i extend the 2nd partition of 2047. 9 gb, i get the message of: failed to extend the selected partition. [Error: 0x80042468].

Finally, if i delete the raid array and change the bios setting for the sata port 1-6 to ide, the install will complete, but without the raid 0 array. Please, what am i doing wrong or what do i need to get the raid 0 array?

Reinstall Win 7 On Two Drives In Raid Zero

I want to remove windows 7 ultimate from 1 hard drive and reinstall on two drives in raid zero. Windows 7 ultimate is now installed on a 500gb wd drive. I want to remove the 500gb wd hard drive and make my boot drive for windows 7 and programs a raid zero using two wd 1002faex wd 1tb drives. Do i have to remove the windows 7 from the 500gb drive first, before i remove it from the computer?

If i remove the 500gb hard drive and make my boot drive a raid zero array with two 1tb wd drives can i reinstall my windows 7 ultimate from the original dvd? Will i need to do anything special to activate it in the raid zero array? It will be on the same computer and same motherboard, and same processor.
