Intermittent Audio Issue

Jvc camcorder with hard drive saves video files with a mod extension. In the past with xp or vista you simply change the extension to mpg and they play with no problem. However; with win7 they only work about 50% of the time. You have to restart the files several times to get audio, video is never an issue.

Playing files from the desktop whether mpg or mod work about 30% of time when using them through media player. Using media center to run the files yields significantly better results closer to 80%.
If the files are copied to the my video folder they seem to have a slightly higher success rate. Media center is closer to 100%. No matter which format the files are in mod or mpg, they always work in windows live movie maker.

Intermittent Sound Corruption

I have recently bought an acer aspire m3802 desktop with windows 7 64 bit, 8 gigs ram, intel core 2 quad @2. 5ghz. I transferred my sound blaster card from my old computer to this one. It is the sound blaster x fi gaming card. The computer boots up fine and performs well. But at some random point during its use, the sound will get corrupted. There's popping, cracking, and then sometimes silence. Sometimes the sound returns on its own for a little while before going out again. Sometimes i have to reboot the computer to get the sound back to normal. But get this, when there is no sound and i restart the computer, the exit windows sound chimes before shutting down.

I believe that something is conflicting with the sound card or sound driver. This computer comes with on-board sound. I disabled the drivers thinking that was the problem. But the problem persists. I need the sound blaster card for the ability to use asio for music production. Anyone else have this problem? What should be my next step in troubleshooting this?

Intermittent Usb Not Detected Problem

My problem is the following: i have a genius traveler 315 laser mouse which i brought last summer and it worked perfect on my laptop. Recently i have bought a new laptop, on which the mouse does not work anymore.

The problem is very awkward, because the behavior of the mouse on the new laptop is completely random: on several occasions it actually worked perfectly when plugged-in, but most of the times (e.g. After restarting the os or unplugging the mouse and plugging it back) it didn't. This behavior is even stranger because on my old laptop and several others the mouse still works perfectly.

My first opinion was that the problem is with the usb or mouse drivers, but when i tried another mouse and an external hdd on the new laptop, they both worked fine. I even copied the usb-related drivers from my old laptop to the new one, hoping i could solve the problem that way, but the outcome was the same (on both laptops the os is win 7).

Another possibility was that one of the wires in the mouse's cord was broken, but i crossed that out, too, because i tried twisting the cord as much as i could while it was working on the new laptop and it still worked fine. The usb sockets on the new laptop are all working (i tried them all).

I know that the easy solution is to buy another mouse, but i rather figure out what is wrong with this one (or with my new laptop) than to spend money to replace a mouse that i know it is functional because i feel that that money would be wasted, i have no guarantee that the new mouse will work (if i'd buy a new one i'd still go for a genius) and, besides, i would be really glad if i could solve this awkward problem.

Roxio Intermittent Interruption - Cd Drive Unstable

With factory installed windows 7 and roxio 1. 01, when a cd is playing, clicking on the roxio icon causes the music to be intermittently interrupted and the cd drive to go unstable. New dell studio 1555 with factory installed windows 7 and roxio 1. 0. With roxio, when a cd is inserted into the cd drive on the laptop, the roxio icon automatically appears on the desktop, the cd play window appears on the desktop and the cd begins playing.

A click on the roxio icon causes intermittent interruption of the music (about 0. 5 second alternating surges of music and silence. The cd drive sounds like it is switching between speeds at the same rate. Roxio does not open. I downloaded update r226903 for the roxio from dell website. Any fixes?

Used free win7 trial on my computer when it came out. Rock stable. Purchased win7 home premium and did clean install. Now plagued by intermittent (every few hours) bsod and reboots. Needless to say i am more than annoyed that the free trial version worked perfectly whereas the paid version does not work so well.

I get driver_power_state_failure bug check code 0x0000009f caused by driver ntkrnlpa.exe
Or alternatively caused by driver ataport.sys

Ms Wireless Keyboard / Laser Mouse 5000 Intermittent Problem

I have an intermittent problem with my ms wireless keyboard and laser mouse 5000. Windows is not recognizing the receiver in "device manager" and will not allow any updates due to compatibility issues. My ms wireless has worked then when i re-boot, it will not work. I cannot find anything consistent about the problem so i can't troubleshoot the issue.

The only consistent thing is that when the device manager is reading a failure on the receiver, i can change ports and it doesn't change anything. I tried removing the drivers, and installing new drivers but nothing seems to help. What do i do to get win 7 device manager to recognize my wireless keyboard and mouse receiver?

No Audio

I built this computer about a year ago, and when i built it, i put windows 7 (64bit) on it. I then downgraded to windows xp (64bit) due to software compatibility. Yesterday, i cracked open my windows 7 (64bit) disk again, and reinstalled. My audio device: "realtek high definition audio" is shown by the upgrade advisor as compatible with windows 7, and my audio worked through this device when i had 7 on this computer the first time. Before installing 7, the audio worked fine in xp, and i just rebooted into a linuxmint livecd, and it worked out of the box.

My motherboard is an asrock p45xe, and i am using the onboard audio. I have installed the realtek drivers as supplied from the asrock site, and this is how my "playback devices" screen looks: - and, as i say, i know it works as i just booted a livecd and had working audio. Any ideas?

No Audio Working At All

I just replaced my windows 7 rc with windows & ultimate on my imac yesterday and after the installation i found that i had no sound. I have tried every possible way i can think of to solve the problem and nothing works. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it with the mac driver disc, i have tried updating the driver but windows always tells me that it is the most up to date driver. I had no problems with the sound on the rc version of windows 7 so not sure why i am having one now.

Audio Problems

I have a thinkpad x-61 laptop that came with windows vista. It worked fine for 18 months or so. At one point the audio failed and i couldn't hear anything at all. After some days (and i can't recall what i might’ve done) the problem was fixed, only to fail again a week later, for good.
I had a friend (somewhat knowledgeable) help me and after an hour of trying different things he suggested i move from vista to win7 —which i had been planning to do anyway— as the os might’ve had something to do with the problem.
When win7 finally came out i installed the professional edition (not as an upgrade) and discovered that the problem remained as before. At this point i figure my laptop must have a hardware problem, and i was puzzled by the fact that neither speakers nor headphones or mike, worked.
The last thing i tried was using a "dynex" usb headphone / mike combination. I plugged it in; the os installed the necessary drivers and started working just fine.
Now i am lost: can my problem still be hardware or can it be software?
My computer shows under device:
Speakers "soundmax integrated digital hd audio" (the original audio device)
Speaker "usb pnp sound device" (the new headphone)
The driver for the soundmax audio is dated may of 2009 and doesn't give the option for updating it. Furthermore, when checking "properties", the system reports "this device is working properly".
Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem?

Cannot Install Audio Program

I'm trying to run an old audio program bought 10 years ago on my new pc running 64 bit windows, but it's not working. Yeah, when launched i get the following error: "the program can't start because wmvcore2.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. "

I've tried launching the .exe in "windows xp (service pack 3)" compatibility mode, but it doesn't seem to work. Still get the same error message. Any thoughts?

Audio Stopped Working

My audio went silent. I tried different programs and even fix it. Repair program telling me that one or more components is not working. Well, i feel as genius - since that much i know too. I checked drivers and they are latest and telling me that they work fine. I installed windows 7 months ago and it was working fine. I installed yesterday automatically two critical windows updates and that seem to be culpricht.

However, i cant restore previous since it listing that restore was unsuccessful and therefore no changes. Three days ago i installed update office 2010 pro and there is one glitch as word alwys freezes. However, even after upgrade sound was working. Is there in the world someone who can fix such problem?

Cannot Stream Video Or Audio

I cannot stream any audio or video. Websites load but as soon as i try to play the video, the browser freezes and i have to force it to exit the program. This is happening in both internet explorer and firefox. So far i have tried:

Uninstalling and reinstalling flash
Uninstalling and reinstalling java
Uninstalling and reinstalling quicktime
Uninstalling real player
Looking for updates for all of these programs (flash, java, quicktime)
Running firefox in safe mode to see if the problem went away
Updating all these programs

None of these attempts helped. I am using windows 7, on a new dell studio laptop. This is a recent problem that has been on-and-off for the last few weeks, but today everything stopped working.

Multiple Audio Devices

Like many people, i have a television connected to my pc as a secondary monitor (extended desktop). My television is connected through the hdmi port on my video card, which includes high-def audio. I also have a pair of desktop speakers next to my primary monitor, which are connected via the analog line-out jack. I'm having trouble finding a satisfactory way to specify audio output to the correct pair of speakers for the display i'm using. I've set-up the volume control options to display both available devices, and they are both enabled.

Ideally, what i'd like is for any window placed on the extended desktop (tv) to automatically send audio to the television speakers, and for application windows on the primary monitor to send audio to the line out (desktop speakers). If it can't be done automatically, can i specify which audio device each window uses individually? Or, is it possible to have both devices playing simultaneously, with the option of muting one device or the other?

What i'd like to be able to do, for example, is watch a movie on my tv with sound through the television speakers, while my wife plays a game or surfs the web using the desktop monitor with her audio routed through the desktop speakers. If this cannot be done through windows 7, is it likely that audio or video drivers would have this feature? Is there third-party software or hardware that can do this?

System info:

Pc - dell inspiron 580
Os - windows 7 home premium
Video  - nvidia geforce gt 220
Audio -    realtek high definition audio

Audio Device Is Disabled

I've gone back and forth looking through countless websites / forums for a solution to this, but i cant seem to find one. My computer's sound card would used to start acting funky after i left it on for a day or 2, and would require a restart, and after restarting from one of these, the sound stopped working altogether, my sound card is integrated into my motherboard. I also cant watch videos now since my sound stopped working, but video games work fine. As well towards the oddness, my internet connection tab in the bottom right of my screen says i'm not connected to anything, but im actually fine.

Readplease Audio Trouble

I have an acer 7740 running windows 7. I am having trouble running readplease which is a text to speech program. The problem is the sound fades in at the start of each new sentence which is very irritating as with first word in inaudible due to the fade in. It's almost as if when the reader pauses after the period the sound driver turns off, then when the next sentence is read the driver turns back on again. That's my guess. How do i fix this problem? I have used readplease on many computers with windows 98-xp with no problem. I use readplease a great deal so i really need a fix.

Hdmi Audio Problem

I know that there have been other topics posted regarding this, but it is driving me crazy. I have an hp dv4-1430us. It was running vista, and i did the free update to windows 7 64bit. I have been using the hdmi out to watch movies on my hdtv regularly. All of a sudden the hdmi icon is gone from the playback devices. I have checked to see if disabled and disconnected devices were visible and they were. I tried every suggestion on the other post, to no avail. I updated every driver available by model number on the hp website, and intel driver wont load because hp has a modified driver they use and cant load anything but that.

I even tried using the spdif, and that does not work either.

System Audio Is Low

My sound system is messed up big time! My computer uses realtek high definition audio, and my audio is very strange. Earlier one day, it was working just fine. Later one day, the main part of music, video, etc. 's audio was super quiet, and the background noise (like background music in video
And guitar, bass, etc. Parts in music) were louder than they should've been. This is happening everywhere (itunes, online, etc. ), And i think it's just my laptop because no one else is complaining. I can't listen to anything!

Cannot Enable Audio Device

I have a laptop toshiba tecra m11 with w7 64 pro. After a windows update i do not have any more sound. I cannot enable the audio device. - I do not have a restore point to use

- I have tried to disable/enable the sound card
- I have tried to de-install and re-install the sound card
- I have tried both drivers, 1 from the toshiba support website, one from the sound card manufacturer, realtek. Both not working

- Windows device manager tells that the sound card is working properly even if there is a cross (white cross inside a red circle) telling 'no speakers or headphones are plugged in".

- After running the troubleshooter, i am told the audio device is disable. I cannot enable it. I would like some sound. Any help ?

Hdmi - No Option For Audio

I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit and i am having problems with my hdmi port/plug. Before this problem, the hdmi was working perfectly. Once i plug in my hdmi, the video appears on the tv and not the audio. Audio Stutter Problem

I bought a new computer in october of 2009, with a win 7 64-bit os, a realtek audio system on the motherboard, and i added a high-end nvidia card for gameplay purposes. I am having the same audio stutter problem that a lot of other people are having. I have installed every realtek update from
2. 33 to 2. 40 and none of them have worked. I've tried installing some drivers from vista, but windows won't let me.

I totally love win7, except for this one small niggling problem. While looking around some of the other windows forums, it seems that the general train of thought is that the issue is something to do with windows 7 itself, and i would agree, having tried several driver-based solutions. A friend of mine was on the beta test for windows 7, and he hasn't had this error.

Audio Sounds Scratchy

I am getting a lot of clicking and popping when i play audio on my new windows 7 pro system. The source doesn't matter-cd, mp3 file in wmp, or streaming internet audio in winamp. It doesn't matter if i use the desktop speakers plugged into the back or headphones plugged into the front jack. The noises occur at different times on each playback, but typically every few seconds. I have already tried updating the drivers-realtek ati hdmi audio version 6. 0. 1. 6034 and realtek high definition audio version 6. 0. 1. 6066. The audio hardware is onboard the gigabyte ga-ma785gm-us2h motherboard. I have also tried disabling sound effects in the speaker properties dialog. Nothing has helped. Any suggestions?

Cd Spin Up Causes Audio Freeze

I'm using a new-in-november dell latitude e6400 which, according to their website, was and is completely compatible with windows 7. I've not had too many problems, but i do have a rather significant one that i need to solve, or else i'll be downgrading to xp. Which i just do not want to do.

If i'm listening to audio via itunes or any other program and want to rip a cd into the computer using any other program (or even the same one), the audio i'm listening to (and essentially all of the ui) will freeze, either shutting off completely or skipping quite fast while the cd spins up. After the cd has spun up, the audio begins playing again normally.

To my knowledge, i have downloaded all of the most recent updates (microsoft and dell) and applied them promptly - to no avail. Dell is not willing to help me on this either as i purchased the windows 7 upgrade from digitalriver (the student discount).
